Thoroughly impressed with this Hisense mini-LED TV. This is the best LED TV I have ever witnessed. The stregths of the TV are brightness, accuracy, and shadow detail. This TV is replacing a 83” LG C1 OLED, which was in a bright room. The Hisense beats LG in almost every objective aspect. LG oled may have an edge in a pitch dark room, but even then LG crushes blask compared to the Hisense. A lot of the megatives mention elsewhere is related to setup the TV and the actual content. Good Dolby Vision content looks out of this world on the Hisense and better than my LG c1 in any situation. Some older movies or content that was not mastered perfectly, may appear to have elevated blacks, but those look the same on my LG. Therefore, the picture settings should never be a set in stone. The blacks may need to be adjusted up or down slightly, depending on content. Overall, I could not be happier with this TV. 2 thumbs up.

Coming from a 85" FALD to a 100" miniLED was a nice upgrade for myself. It may not have the processing finesse of Sony or LG but its getting close especially with what you're paying for the 98/110UX. This thing is humongous and unwieldy, if you can get the free installation from BestBuy or paying a 3rd party, please take it so they can properly install and insure it. It's been about 3 weeks now since I've had this TV installed and for the most part I have not had any issues. There were no software/firmware updates when I first turned this on so we will see how Hisense handles this side of things. From watching stuff in the daytime with sunlight coming through all the windows to the right of my TV to complete darkness at night, I've found it more enjoyable to watch on this TV. On my old 85" FALD TV, the sun would wash out the screen at time and at night, the blooming of captions while watching dark content was bad. This 98UX handles day time watching with ease and the local dimming control/blooming is very acceptable for not being an OLED. There are some times where I see the local dimming seems like it lags behind on extremely dark content where there's no detail in that portion of the scene. Official reviews have mentioned black crush issues and I wonder if this is related since the TV is just shutting off the zones where it can't produce any content. This isn't a deal breaker as I've had plenty of software issues on previous mid/high end TVs. As of right now, this is the best TV I've put in the living room that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Fantastic tv. Impressed with how well it handles a cable signal. 4k looks amazing. After seeing the QM8 in store, I’m confident I made the right decision buying the UX.

Intial Impressions: - Punchy Color - Bright highlights - Minimal blooming - Low bit rate at 1080p or less looks pixelated and had motion artifact. - Glossy screen would not be good with direct reflections - Wide viewing angles *** My wife actually likes it after thinking it would be too big on the wall! Also, it weighs a ton! No way its only 137lbs... more like 180?!? I plan on updating the review after more time for tweaking settings and calibration. As a comparative summary for 98-100" TVs, I belive this is better than the more expensive models from Sony and Samsung at this size, albeit the Sony has better upscaling and motion processing while the Samsung has a much better antigalre coating. These considerations may matter to some consumers. Otherwise, The less expensive Hisense U8K and TCL QM7 are likely 80-90% as good for 1/3 less money. Finally, the TCL QM851G vs this 98 UX becomes a debate of processing and the relative benefits of ADS Pro vs VA LCD panels. I think the wider viewing angles, higher brightness and processiing all favor the Hisense. (Note - I own this TV although I had to purchase from a different vendor due to limited availability. I would have purchased from Best Buy if I could.)

So many issues ! eARC keeps dropping my sound system. Local dimming is broken, huuuuuge halo around every bright object. Lots of backlight bleeding along the edges. Built in apps stutter and or do not play content. Dolby Vision HDR is very dim. Best Buy is replacing with the TCL QM8 98.”

Probably the best 98” TV available. Viewing angle is phenomenal d/t ADS pro panel. Picture quality is phenomenal! Its a big heavy TV for sure! I doubt its only 138 lbs. Upscaling is good. HDR content looks great, it will give the new Sony mini led a run for its money! overall very impressed.

After testing every large TV I could get my hands on I believe anyone would pick this as the best display for high quality image reproduction (4K HDR). SDR may go to the Sony due to the XR processor but this is superior from the darks to brights with much tighter backlight and the ADS pro panel used. The TV's OS runs very smooth. An NVIDIA Shield successfully handles my lower quality upscaling considerations. This is the first time I prefer an LCD/LED based TV to an OLED. The QM8 is IMO a step down. Only if Sony had a 98" Bravia 9 would there be a stiff competition. Hisense no doubt has thrown everything they could at this and set the bar for what a larger TV should be. The 110" version is truly a worthy projector replacement for those who have been waiting.

Geek squad guys couldnt believe i was exchanging an LG 83 C4 for the 98 UX (they crushed it on the mount/installation job btw - DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF). My research held true, this tv is a smokeshow. Zero regrets, truly - I love it (my wife does as well - she even apologized for thinking it was a stupid idea to get the 98)
