Super cool product, but I really wish there were better 'on-device' controls. The required phone app needs lots ... and lots of work.
However after much frustration, I was able to get everything up and running by bouncing between the iPhone and the Android app (each would crash at different points on each device). The end result is really awesome to see.
At the moment, the lights still won't dim correctly but I have high hopes that eventually they will get all the bugs/ergonomics of the app smoothed out. Overall I would recommend this item to others, but be warned ... the setup is rough and this product will become a useless brick if they ever stop maintaining the mandatory dedicated app.

This was so sad. I bought this for my best friend and, had it worked, she would have gone nuts over it. She was so excited when she got it and we tried to set it up and it just didn't communicate with the app. The ball would just roll to the center and that was that. We never got to see it make a shape at all. We followed the reset directions, Reloaded the app. Poor thing wanted this to work so bad.
It's just such an amazing thing, when it works. When it doesn't, it's a heartbreaking disappointment.

I thought this item was awesome when I first received it, enough so that I bought two more for my mom and brother for Christmas. Big mistake. It's since stopped regularly connecting to the app, when it does finally connect its hit or miss whether you will be able to download any patterns to it. It's overall one of the most frustrating items I've ever owned. My mom and brother have had similar problems from the very beginning. I basically spent $600 on a bunch of garbage. I've tried to contact the company for support and no one has gotten back to me. It could be such a cool product.

A few years ago, I purchased the 21” Drift bowl for my home office to disconnect from a screen during breaks. While nothing more than a few motors, magnet, sand and LED lights all cocooned together in a plastic shell, I fell in LOVE with it. So much I grabbed the smaller 11” to watch when doing yoga. To say I am impressed is an understatement. I love my drift bowls very much. What do I not like about them? The app. Both units (although primarily an issue with the 11” model) seem to disconnect from the app for no reason. Typically will have to disconnect from the outlet, and then they work again. With how expensive these units are, I do wish the app worked better. I don’t expect flawless, but why are we disconnecting so much? Yes, I love to disconnect from my phone when using my drift, but the drift doesn’t play well when disconnected from my device.

Love the product, it has its issues. And the lack of customer support from homemedics make this difficult to recommend to anyone else. The unit I purchased has developed issues where the power and light buttons no longer work. After multiple attempts to contact homemedics support I have finally given up.

I got the drift in January and i have had it on a schedule since that day and over time i started go see lumps in the sand that rhe ball would get stucks on and it has cuased many problems with they way this thing works.

This thing is trash, I'd feel more comfortable giving it a 0 or 0.5 rating. Specifically, the app is the worst I've ever used. Wow, it's like they didn't even test it before uploading it to the Google Play store. You CANNOT connect to the app, therefore this thing is a giant paper weight. Bought this yesterday and returning it today. Absolute home run Homedics, you killed it. Best Buy needs to remove this trash from their inventory.

Fix the app for IPhones n IPads . Most of the designs won’t download. The light blinks on n off most of the time if it comes on. Won’t change colors . Light won’t dim. Help!!

Didnt work with Android or Apple phone. Didnt connect to phone or WiFi even with 2.4Ghz. Tried Drift and Drift 11 app with updates. Dont buy this. I returned it to Best Buy same day. Homedics is a good brand. Too bad this product doesnt work because the styling design is great.

Did ok in pattern making. This smaller product doesn’t give as much detail as the larger ones. The lights never worked as they should. The help chat for the product recommended that I return it which I did. Maybe something was wrong with my product. I think with time and updates it should be good. Until they update and offer new model I’d wait to purchase.

The Sand Drift machine is amazingly cool very relaxing light settings are dope, but thats only if you can get the app to work. Dont connect have to end up doin a factory reset which then means having to re downlod patterns.very frustrating. One they hire a good programer or whatever for the app would be 5 star but untill then just a expensive tray for sand

DO NOT BUY THIS! The thing when it works is cool enough, but IT NEVER WORKS!!! The app is HORRIBLE! You have to keep resetting it and unplugging the device and then it MAY work. Other reviews say the same thing and I should have listened. Unless they fix the app DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!

I purchased this to create a little life in my office. I love it. It's hard to take your eyes off of it (like looking at campfire). Kids love it to. I was able to get set up in about 5 minutes. It does provide a sense of calm and is definitely a topic of conversation when people come over.

First one I purchased was DOA. The LED lighting is what wouldnt work correctly.
Epileptic seizures come to mind. Took that one back and t u e second works great. Unless you are trying to do a custom collor. It is useless at that.
