I originally purchased the ecobee3 before going with the Honeywell. The ecobee3 was never accurate, when it came to temperature readings. I am convinced of the fact that, since the thermostat unit of the ecobee3 got unusually warm, this threw off the temp readings. I did purchase it due to its home integration and learning capabilities, but it does take a long time to learn and no one house is built the same. So I decided to purchase and stick with the Honeywell and am so glad I did. This thermostat has all of the features of the others, with the exception of the learning aspect. Honeywell still has home integration features, scheduling, wi-fi, color touchscreen, great aesthetics and it is very simple to operate. The free Honeywell downloadable App is seamless, simple and works great, literally from anywhere. If you are looking to replace an old thermostat, I highly suggest the Honeywell. Caution, you need to make sure that your current thermostat wire consists of at least 4 wires, which will include the needed common wire, to power the thermostat. My home was not equipped with this, but it was a cinch to replace my old 3 wire cable with 4 wire cable. You can purchase thermostat wire at your local home depot or lowes, by the foot, for about $.20/ft.

Easy to install, I have a heat pump and with a little searching through the installation guide, was able to find the proper way to wire it. The programming is even easier, the system walks you through your wake , leave, and sleep times , simply adjust temps on each one and done!!! Installed the app on both my wife and My phones
in minutes, it's so nice to be able to adjust the temp from my phone , oh and the different colors are a nice touch

Great profuct easy to use. Only downfall is that you have to give up your house fan wire to use as the wifi feature if you have an older thermostat.
It is a little smaller than I thought

This the 3rd Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat I have purchased. I enjoy all the features. I like the idea of not having to go upstairs to change temp. I can just log in on free app on my phone or tablet. Lot of great features. Programing is very easy.

I bought this last night for my house built in 1993. Unfortunately they only had wires: R W G Y and RC. NO C WIRE! My HVAC had it but I was am not fishing new wires through the wall until I get a new HVAC.
Solution? From the furnace remove the G wire and screw it into the C terminal. Then run a jumper wire from the G terminal on the furnace to the Y terminal.
You lose the "fan" function, but you DON'T need it at all! The jumper turns the fan on for HEAT or AC.
Problem solved. Enjoy it. Hope this helps people with older systems.
This DOES work with Alexa, be sure to add the "Honeywell Total Control" skill. MAKE SURE YOU NAME IT SOMETHING IDEAL. I left mine as "Thermostat".
Then you simply say: "Alexa, turn the THERMOSTAT up 2 degrees". Remember to replace "THERMOSTAT" with whatever you named it.

I had a non wifi honeywell thermostat. I looked into honeywell smart , nest and ecobee . Everyone has its pros and cons. Rounded up on Honeywell. As seen on the box one can change lots of colors, doesn't require any battery ever. I didn't have to change the base plate of the old thermostat. The total time taken was, literally 15 minutes because it was my first time ever of changing a thermostat. The next one should not take more than 10 minutes (I have 2 more to change). connected it to Samsung smart hub, and Alexa. We can change the temperature on the smart app over the phone. Impostant - Always take pictures from the cellphone before doing any DIY

We bought this thermostat to replace an old programmable one that was dying. It was easy to check on line to see if it was compatible with our set up - did we have 5 wires and a common terminal on the furnace? I read in other reviews that the unit was small, and those reviews were correct! The hook up with a back plate for the wire connections was easy. Start up was straight forward. The app for the iPhone is very simple but effective. The frame is silver, but it really is quite subtle and actually better than white. I really like that you can change the background color. I also like that you can set reminders to change the filter as well. The programming is very simple; it will even guide you if you want some assistance. Everyone in the house has no problems changing the setting temporarily if needed, because the screen is intuitive. And the accuracy is quite good regarding temperature and humidity readings.
I would recommend this thermostat.

First off, I must comment on the ease of hardware install. Was a simple matter of unhooking my existing thermostat and plugging this one in and hooking up the wires. The LCD is nice and clear, and the back-lit display is adjustable. Being able to remotely adjust the thermostat is a plus, but you have to register online to enable that feature. There are multiple program features for setting up different AC run times and schedules. If you are a tech geek this is a great thermostat, however, for most homeowners spending approximately $180 for a thermostat is ridiculous...

I live in an area where the temperature can change 30 degrees from midnight to mid-day. This thermostats ability to switch from heating to cooling automatically is it's greatest asset. Wake up with the heat running and not worry about changing the system over to keep cool in the afternoon.
Another nice feature is the circulation setting for the fan. It will run the fan to circulate air through the house at times when heating or cooling are not required.
Of course it has standard and vacation program setting, but the WiFi lets it connect with your smartphone, tablet or PC for remotely changing temperature set points or any other features.
Lastly, it is a very attractive unit with multiple color and brightness settings. Installation is easy with printed diagrams and online videos to assist you. One note: the "C" wire required to run the unit is just a +24 volt wire from the low side of the transformer in the air handler, since there are no batteries required.

Very please with my purchase, this is with an addition of new heating and a/c unit. Renovated my grandmother's house that didn't have anything except a furnace and swamp cooler. I love the fact having full control anywhere in regards to the indoor climate and the scheduling is great the fact that the options are endless from sun up to sun down and even when I'm sleeping. I'm usually up around 4:30 in the morning and just one less things I have to do during my whole morning routine, from the time I wake up to the time I'm leaving the house. Then to arrive home with the temp already set to my liking without my unit having to run all day. I am enjoying my new toy a little too much and loving the fact its already saving money on my energy bill; big fan of the silver face plate and options for the background color on the touchscreen. Install is easy but since I was getting a whole new system the contractor I hired installed it. Setup was a breeze to the point even my parents weren't intimated by the title.

I live alone and I been really wanting a Thermostat to make sure my home is comfortable when I get home from work! Plus I have two pets and sometimes I was in a hurry and forgot to set the temps to make sure they didn't have to suffer too much from the heat or cold. I didn't realize that I needed a powered wire before I purchased this to see the display.
I didn't realize that the powered output was already on my 1985 furnace it just wasn’t wired from my furnace to my pre-existing thermostat. I first ordered a wall plug meant to mimic the C-Wire (Common Wire/Clock Wire) wattage that I was going to just plug into the Honeywell - Smart Thermostat by punching a hole on the opposite side of the wall..
I then decided to call a contractor and they suggested I DYI by moving the Thermostat to a closer location to my Furnace and just route new wires by myself and put the Thermostat outside that wall so I went to Home Depot got about 6 Ft of a 5 strand multi wire. Cut the power, punched a hole in the wall, drilled two holes and wired it in was simple enough!
No I just have to remove the old thermostat and patch and paint the wall… Now if only I wasn’t so lazy.

Got the Honeywell Smart Thermostat to replace the 20 year old control I had. Installed fairly easily after figuring out to connect the blue wire on the furnace (the old
one didn't require that wire). Easy to program and really easy to see from all directions without having to stand directly in front of it like the other brand. Love it!

The down button on the thermostat in my apartment was sticking and making it hard to adjust the temperature during the end of summer. I initially bought the Nest, but with how the wiring was set up I couldn't install the Nest properly. After looking around for other thermostats that would provide similar functionality to the Nest, I came across this Honeywell WiFi-capable smart thermostat. Installation was simple after watching a video and reading the instructions, and initial set up was a breeze. I got the thermostat connected to my WiFi and programmed it for different times for each day. There's a phone app that goes along with the thermostat so I can check the temperature while away, turn the unit on/off, change the temperature, etc. Overall I would agree that this was a great purchase to replace an old thermostat. It blends well with the surroundings, and has an easy to read layout. It is a little more expensive, but worth it.

Decided to upgrade from 15 yr old thermostat after hearing about XCEL Energy rebate offer. Installation was very simple (my system has a "C" wire) and has a cool feature to customize the screen color to match any color you want. In my case, it perfectly blends into the wall color. My only complaint is the snaps that hold the thermostat to the wall plate seem somewhat weak and could possibly come loose if the thermostat is bumped hard enough. Also, be aware the thermostat may be smaller than the existing one, so be prepared to do some wall touch up painting. Online control and Android app worked first time also - nothing really fancy with them, but they certainly allow easy remote control. All in all, very pleased.

I didn't install but I know it was fairly step by step per instructions. An energy trend worth installing. Love the background color selection, size of the thermostat and wifi ease of use with my cell or pad. No new utility bill for comparison yet but the thermostat appears to provide consistent heating temps and times (lapse) and it was very easy to setup the regular full week schedule or change to temporary settings. It was just installed recently and hasn't been used for a/c season yet. No concerns anticipated.

I purchased this unit when our existing thermostat went on the fritz. At over $200, I thought that this was a little pricy for a thermostat. That being said, I can't be happier with this purchase.
Installation and setup was a piece of cake. It took about 30 minutes to remove my old unit, label the wires, install the new unit and get it configured. I credit the ease of setup with the simple and easy to follow instructions (as well as plenty of online video tutorials). With the help of the documentation, I was able to get this working with my HVAC system even though it didn't have the required "C" wire.
Creating an online account and linking my thermostat was also easy and straight forward. The user interface is simple and intuitive. I was able to configure alerts and schedules in about 5 minutes.
The iPhone app is nice to have and allows you to see the status of your system while away from home and make changes.
Pros: does everything it claims, easy of setup, well written instructions
Cons: price
