    Designed for Failure

I purchased the Hoover Max Extract at a local Best Buy retailer in March of 2012. It worked adequately the first time I used it - not great but I really did not put much of a load on it. Indoor commercial grade carpet in a sun room. I cleaned and stored the machine. Second time I used it, the brushed worked ok for about 5 minutes then stopped working. Apparently the little plastic shaft that drives the circular brushes snapped off. The drive shaft appears to have a weakpoint with less than 1/4" of plastic that can be easily stressed and fail. This is a very poor engineering design. I can't see this machine lasting the duration of its warranty if it breaks down as the result of a poor design. The brush assembly requires maintenance after every area you clean. The machine also needs to be cleaned frequently and can not be considered reliable. The product labeling also claims to have "Forced Heat" - this is a false claim. The only heat this machine produces is regulated by the heat of the tap water you fill it with. I do not recommend purchasing this product. I don't recommend purchasing this product with out an extended warranty.

It seems to pick up the dirt well. It was easy to use. I also like the attachments were right there and use to access.

I had put off buying a carpet cleaning machine. The area to clean is one hallway and three bedrooms. It really cleaned well. My carpet is of a light color.

I had to return the machine twice. The first time was because part of the floor spin brush broke of after taking it off to clean it. The second one leaked out of the back of the machine. We decided to go with a different model.

I usually rent carpet cleaners from stores, I was very surprised on how well the cleaner worked and how it removed pet stains with ease, I would recommend this product to anyone and needs a good carpet cleaner for a get price

I was so excited to go and pick it up get it home and clean my carpet. Of course I stayed home all weekend to clean all rooms. Well I sure couldn't tell a difference and the steam heat or deep clean did not work as described on the box of course I am not a platinum member so I am stuck with having a store credit but anyways I am hoping to go back and find one worth my time and money.

Super Clean carpet after using MaxExtract 60

We purchased the MaxExtract 60 carpet cleaner and were very satisfied with the cleaning results. We have one indoor/outdoor long hair cat and two dogs that are both in and out of the house. The carpet cleaner did a good job and the carpet looked revived to the point of looking almost new. It is about 10 years old and light colored carpet. We experienced a minor issue with the suction after we emptied the dirty water tank and cleaned and replaced it back on the unit. After trying different things, I was about ready to pack up everything and take it back to the store, however my husband continued to troubleshoot the unit and after cleaning all the seals really good, we solved the problem and had great sunction and were able to finish the job. I was overall satisfied with the end result....the carpet looks great and there sure was alot of dirty water sucked out of the carpet. It had been nearly a year since our carpets were last professionally cleaned. We no longer have a local carpet cleaner business in our town, and it was way too expensive to have someone come from 60 miles away. I got a great price, Best Buy matched a competitor's sale price, plus an additional 5% off for using the Best Buy Card, plus 6 months 0% interest. This carpet cleaner was lighter than some we considered and manuvered quite well. I had major back surgery last year and was able to use the unit without any problem.

    Researched & satisfied with purchase

I researched carpet cleaners heavily after owning two different $100 Bissells over the last ten years. They never worked great. And the small cap for the handheld hookup would always disappear and would affect suction. Didn't like the bladder pack in the new Bissell water tanks. The Hoovers looked easier to clean. I bought it today and used it on one large area rug that my pups have done their business. Very happy with it. Smells and looks clean and fresh. I can breath in the room now. And it was very easy to clean in my kitchen sink. Love that the front suction piece and scrubbers lift off and go back on so easily. The one large rug used the entire 16oz included shampoo. It is heavy but any of these will be. Very happy with purchase and would recommend.

    I love this machine!

I really love this machine! We have an old Bissel that just wasn't doing a good job cleaning the carpets anymore and it was difficult and cumbersome to use. We have also had pros come and clean our carpets. This hoover is sooooo easy to use. Our carpets were in terrible shape and I did not think they could be salvaged. I thought we would have to replace them. We bought this machine and it did an incredible job. We decided to hold off replacing the carpets because they look so good now. In fact this machine did better than when we had professionals do it in the past. You do have to stop and fill the water container or empty the other container quite often, but I really don't mind because of all the other benefits. I also recommend you get ear plugs or sound reduction headsets because it is loud. Be sure to use the "rinse" feature. The carpets will finish up much nicer when you do that. Also there are two small screens that need to be cleaned. Just remove the lint to keep the suction working well. I highly recommend this machine. We had no problems and it does a fantastic job.

    GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!

We have several dogs with health issues. Needless to say we thought our carpet was ruined. Our old carpet scrubber never really cleaned the carpet very well. We decided we needed to look for a better cleaner. I read the reviews and looked at the unit in the store, and my wife and I decided to give it a try. It was easy to put together and the cleanup is so easy. But let me say, THIS UNIT WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!!! It took our carpet that we thought was trash, and it took out all the stains! I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a scrubber that works great!

Works great just like my Hoover vaccuum

I previously had a newer bissell that stop spraying water after the 2 times I used it. I LOVE my Hoover windtunnel Series T vaccuum and I thought I would give the steam cleaner a try. It works GREAT and it's very easy to use. Getting the clean water/cleaner solution tank and the dirty water tank out is very quick and easy. It does use a LOT of water/cleaner so I had to empty it about 10 times when I cleaned my living room, bedroom, and hallway carpets. Cleaning the unit afterwards is also very easy. Everything is accessible and the brushes just pull right off to clean them. The review is only after the first use - so If I have any problems I will be sure to add another comment here.

    I like Hoover

The first Hoover carpet cleaner I had lasted 10 years. It had to suffer through me and several neighbors. The last machine I got was a bissell and I only used it 3 x but it was always breaking down. Igave it to a mechanic. I have gone back to Hoover (never to leave again). For this machine it is working good. I've only had it a short time, but I've cleaned several rooms, an office and a motor home. All at different times and the unit worked every time. The container is easy to fill and so far I have not had to read any instructions. Pretty simple to operate and clean. The only area I am concerned with is that the spray comes out strong and the vacuum does not seem to suck up the water as strong so the carpet takes longer to dry. For me it is a small price to pay.

    Okay but not the best

The brushes did not spin initially, which appears to be a common issue, based on other reviews. However, take a Phillips screwdriver, remove the top (covering the gears) and make sure the spindle shafts are centered in their top cover slots, then reinstall the top. Problem solved, but still QC should have caught this before shipping. The unit is very heavy and my wife has to work to get it positioned. The front panel sticker says ‘forced heat’ when in reality the unit provides no additional heat input (it relies on the temperature of the hot water you added to the system). My wife rates its cleaning performance as 3.5 out of 5.0.
