The Hover-1 H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 is a powerful e-scooter suitable for daily school/work commute and campus transportation, or just for having fun with it. Compact yet powerful, it can go very fast and can easily climb uphill paths despite its weight and the added human weight. I’ve already used it to commute to work and ride around the park. Riding it has been very pleasant, no major complaints so far. There is minimal assembly required and the construction feels very solid. It is foldable and doesn’t take up too much space, so it is very convenient to store, and can easily be carried in your car. It is adult size but feels compact when compared to other commercial ones available on the streets. - Pros: fast, great acceleration rate, several riding modes, adult size, compact, foldable. - Cons: None so far. >> Assembly It comes almost out-of-the-box, the only assembly required is to install (secure) the handlebar. There are six (6) screws plus two (2) hex tools to accomplish that. Beyond having to struggle a little to place the cables inside the tubes (to not risk damaging them), securing the handlebar with the screws is an easy task otherwise. In my case, the handlebar already had six (6) screws inserted on it at different depths (I wonder if someone already attempted to install the handlebar). Well, I decided to use those screws instead of the new ones that came in a plastic case with the hex tools. At least two of the screws didn’t go through the holes smoothly. I wonder if using the new ones would have been a better idea. I ended up not too happy with my installation, but everything seemed properly attached and secured. >> First use The manuals instruct that, for safety reasons, there is need to kick start the scooter and next press the throttle to start moving it (pedal to start). However, kick starting is not always needed, as I later describe. Riding it on flat surfaces was easy and very fun. Going downhill was a little problematic, as expected; I had to keep pressing the brakes to make sure that I was able to stop the scooter at the next corner and not risk getting in the way of motorists and/or other riders. Going uphill was easier and fun. It accelerated very fast, a little scary, so I kept the device running in Eco mode, and I’d say, that is my preferred mode so far. The front tire shocks made riding it an even better experience, especially when there were bumps and cracks around. >> Terrain/surfaces I have ridden the H1 Pro Series R450 through different terrains. I even rode it in gravel pathways around the park without too much difficulty; but it is clear that the best surfaces for the device are just hard ones. I guess if the tires were bigger perhaps the scooter would hold better on some rougher surfaces. For areas and sidewalks that are bumpy or have cracks, this device is equipped with front shocks to absorb the impact while riding on those surfaces. Its bottom clearance is good enough to sort out with ease the smaller ramps that go in/out of sidewalks/road. I have used it to commute to work, around four (4) miles of sidewalks and street crossings with different slope degrees, going up and down. This machine has performed great. I do plan on using it at least once a week to commute to work. It is definitely a device I am very happy with. My only concern, since I’ll be riding in downhill areas, are the brakes, so this is something I’ll need to keep an eye on. >> Operation and settings There are several options available, to access them you need to press the power button a number of times. Not all options are mentioned in the manuals, well I should say most of them are not mentioned, I found them by pure trial-and-error. The “change mode” option is one mentioned in the manuals, by pressing the power button once you can switch between the different riding modes (Eco, Drive, Sport and Walk). For the other options, depending on how many times you press the power button in succession you’d access them: - Twice: light on/off. - Three times: display kmh or mph. - Four times: set cruise control on/off. - Five times: mode flashing on/off. When “mode” is flashing, you don’t need to kick start the scooter (no pedal to start), pressing the throttle with the scooter stopped will cause it to move. This is great when going uphill, for example. - Six times: set odo or trip. All but the last option can be set using the App. >> Battery According to specs, the battery fully charged is good for about 25 miles, and it looks like that is the case. This means that if your commute distance is near that number, then I’d say bring the charger with you to recharge at your destination. Charging the H1 Pro Series R450 took several hours though, so take this into account when riding long distances. Something interesting and very useful is when the scooter needs recharging it will start beeping, and when that happens, it looks like there is still enough juice for a couple of miles more. In my case, once the scooter started beeping, I went over 3 miles at around 8 mph around the house, and there was still battery left. This is a good indicator; you can still drive the scooter for a decent time and hopefully that is enough to get to a charging area or your car or wherever you keep your scooter. >> H1 Pro Series App I needed to create an account (yet one more) to access the App and add the scooter. It looks like Bluetooth is already enabled in the scooter, as I couldn’t find a way to manually enable/disable it and there was no visible indication to that effect. The App was able to detect it promptly, and when I added the R450, the Bluetooth indicator in the scooter lighted up. In the App, you can choose the “let’s ride” to get live view of where you are (in the map) and other stats. Almost all the options that you can manually set using the power button, you can do it from within the App. The one interesting feature or option, is the Lock one, which can only be set using the App. So, the App is needed for some options, but for accessing others, I’d think pressing the power button makes more sense.

Pros Sturdy build Folds compact Long range Integrated lights and reflectors Handles up to 264 pounds Smooth ride with larger tires Self sealing tires Front wheel has shocks to absorb bumps Can be locked via the app to deter theft Can be shared with others via the app Light for the size Cons Slow charging at 8 hours Battery pack unprotected on bottom Instructions recommend avoiding any bumps or water Folding handle locks slightly loose Plastic rattle in back when motor starts Headlight could be brighter No rear shock absorber Battery level only visible via the app Footpad a little too short for larger feet States can be locked and unlocked anywhere remotely but requires Bluetooth No foot brake option Single brake locks rear wheel easily The Hover-1 H1 Ace Pro R450 appears to be a more budget oriented version of the Boss R500 model with only a rear brake versus dual and 50 watts less power. This does not seem to hinder performance as the range is 1.6 miles longer than the Boss model while keeping the same speed. Setup 9/10 Out of the box setup is very simple. The only assembly is to install the handlebars using 6 hex head screws using the included wrench. In case you lose any screws there is an extra set included. Most screws were easy to install but one screw hole was slightly misaligned, and the threads had burrs making screwing in initially difficult. After clearing out the debris final assembly was simple. While not required, you can connect the scooter to the app. This allows you to easily change settings of the scooter without remembering how many times to press the power button. Furthermore, you can lock the scooter to discourage theft. You can also use the app to share access to the scooter with others so they can also lock and unlock the scooter. It would be nice if the scooter could be locked and unlocked automatically via the app but there is no indication the app can do this. The website states it can be locked and unlocked remotely from anywhere, but this appears to be a typo as you must be withing Bluetooth range to control it. You must create a Hover-1 account if you wish to use the app. If you prefer not to use the app you lose the locking function, checking the battery level, and checking your rides and location of the scooter. The critical options can be changed by clicking the power button either 2, 3 or 4 times quickly. That said, it would be nice if there was a separate mode and select button, so you don’t have to remember if an option is a long or short press and how many presses it is. Charging 6/10 Charging is via an adapter than has a barrel jack and a single status light. The light is red when charging and green when charged. You aren’t supposed to leave it on the charger once fully charged but there is no way to look on the screen of the scooter to see the current level of charge to get an idea of how long is left. If the battery is dead, be ready to wait. A full charge takes approximately 8 hours. Usage and Performance 8/10 Using the scooter is straightforward. You just unlock the handlebars from the lock on the base and then lift and latch the bar in place. You do have to be careful to ensure the latch is fully locked upright as sometimes it can feel secured only to find the handles become loose when operating because the latch wasn’t fully secured. Thankfully it doesn’t take long to get used to but it’s worth noting that you must pay attention, so it doesn’t come loose. Even when correctly latched there is a small amount of play in the handle. The integrated screen displays mode, speed and distance. If you mount your phone the app can display battery percentage, speed, distance, location, as well as quickly toggle modes. Depending on how you set it up you can require a kickstart or have the throttle work from standstill. If enabled, you can use cruise control by holding the throttle at a speed for 6 seconds. Once engaged it will maintain that speed unless the brakes are used. Regarding brakes, unlike some scooters the R450 has no brake with foot option. It only brakes via the handle and it is quite sensitive. While the brakes are good, simplifying the design to a single rear brake means it is easy to lock up the rear tire trying to slow down quickly. Riding is easy but slightly unstable requiring a short acclimation period. Tight turns are more challenging as it likes to tip quickly if you get too aggressive. Once you get the hang of it the ride is very smooth even with only the front tire having shocks. In Sport mode it goes fast enough to where some may question if it is too fast. Some members of our family refuse to go above standard mode and prefer to stick to Eco. The R450 handles small bumps without a problem but the instructions on how cable it is contradict themselves a bit. First is says to use caution on bumps or wet roads. Later in the instructions it says to avoid bumpy or wet areas suggesting you may cause damage to the scooter. It leaves you wondering if you might damage the scooter if there is just a little water on the road or not. Operating range is 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. While it is unlikely many people would ride a scooter below freezing a good portion of the US has extended periods in the summer of over 104 which would take some care not to cause damage to the scooter. Most likely this is because the heat could damage the battery. To protect the battery, you must also take care what surfaces you are going over or if you bring it up and down stairs. The battery pack is slung below the deck and only has a small strip of metal in the center with the rest housed in plastic. If you get too careless bringing it up and down stairs you could damage the plastic housing of the battery. For most this isn’t likely an issue but if you have more careless family members you might need to make sure they use caution. One other thing to note is that for larger family members with shoe sizes of about a 9 or larger you will need to turn your feet to the sides a bit to fit them on the deck. While it is an adult scooter and can handle plenty of weight, the deck is more of a medium length. There is still plenty of room for stability, but you just can’t get your feet to sit fully on the deck straight. Final Thoughts The Ace Pro R450 is a well-built scooter with sensible sacrifices to create a more affordable adult scooter without losing anything that degrades the experience. The only small gripe is when the motor hums a certain way some plastic on the deck vibrates. Beyond that minor gripe, the R450 feels solid and is fun to use. If they could add a future update to allow auto locking when out of Bluetooth range, it would make the overall package even more refined. If you are looking for a mid-range adult scooter for fun or a short work commute, the R450 is a good option.

    Portable, good range E-scooter

The H1 Pro Series Ace R450 electric scooter by Hover1 is a fun and portable electric scooter, supporting a wide variety of uses. This review is based on a week of usage by everyone in the family ranging from a 5', 100 lb teen up to a 6'1", 230 lb adult. This is my first electric scooter, so I wasn't sure how well it would work around the farm with inclines up to 12% and various terrain types to include asphalt, concrete, gravel, and grass. I found that the Ace R450 performs as expected on terrain, good on asphalt and concrete, ok on grass and gravel, and does amazingly well on the hills due to the 450W motor design. In the box is the scooter, paperwork, and charger. Assembly is fairly straightforward using the included allen key to install six screws connecting the handlebars to the upright post. The machining wasn't precise, so it did take a few minutes to get a semi-decent alignment for all screws and get them tightened. After that, the scooter is plug and play. The charger port is at the front top of the food pad, for easy access and, in theory, will not encounter significant dirt or debris over the charging port. The scooter comes with a kickstand, electronic display, small headlight, tail / brake light, and a bell. Charging out of the box took two hours, and typically takes around 5 hours to charge from a low battery, but I've never fully drained the battery. There is a small display in the center of the handlebars with the power button and displays speed, mode, odometer and battery. If desired (but not required), there is a fairly bare bones companion app that shows the battery, speed, current riding mode, distance traveled, and the location or tracked ride via a map overlay. The app is also supposed to allow you to lock or unlock the scooter, but the app only works if the scooter is powered on and you are close enough to be connected. Not sure I see much use of this feature, especially in a rural area. As for the display, the power button controls multiple features via tapping to include headlight control, unit of measure, cruise control, change riding mode, and change view between trip and total mileage. Riding the scooter is easy to learn, quick to master, and ultimately doesn't take much effort for flat riding. The front shocks absolutely make a difference on bumpy terrain, the self-sealing tubeless tires are a nice feature to reduce worry and maintenance, and I can go up 15+ miles on one charge. The scooter has 4 modes with different target speed ranges for each - Walk (0-3 mph), Eco (0-9 mph), Drive (0-15 mph), and Sport (0-20 mph). The reason I say targeted is because if you are in walk or eco modes traveling down hill, it was clear the scooter was going above the max speed range, but the speedometer didn't display a speed beyond the max speed listed for the mode. In sport mode, I did see the speedometer register up to 23 mph going downhill. The advertised range is up to 25.6 miles per charge, but I find that the total range varies by rider size and how flat the ground is. When only ridden on the driveway hill, by a 150 lb rider, I was seeing 12 - 15 miles per charge, whereas the teens were 15 - 18 miles on the hill, and up to 20 miles on gentle slopes and nearly flat roads before the low battery alert. Riding downhill, the brakes were completely out of their element, locking up the rear wheel frequently, but my driveway is, at points, up to a 12% grade, which is over the operating recommendations of the scooter. The average slope of my 1/3 mile drive is about 8%, and the operating recommendations of the R450 max out at 7%. That being said, other than the brakes, the scooter feels very stable and secure. Going uphill the scooter manages riders up to 150 lbs on the hill with ease, but my 230 lb husband had to help it a bit up the steepest part of the hill. Regarding the 7% limitation, the scooter can easily take all riders up the gentle slopes on the driveway. Riding on paved surfaces is easy, the scooter feels very stable and makes transitions well due to the dual front shocks, I really didn't feel any impact riding across 1/2" height difference between asphalt and concrete. In addition to paved surfaces, the scooter can manage dry grass if the terrain is relatively flat, and small to med size packed gravel. The tires are only 10" and not designed for all terrain riding, so it does struggle in medium or lager gravel or areas that are not hard packed. Things I really like about this scooter - it's lightweight, will fold up and fit in the backseat or trunk, plus the teens can carry it (~40 lbs) when folded. The upright post folds down and locks in place for a large and convenient carrying handle. I appreciate that the speed and distance traveled are obvious, no surprises on battery life. The cruise control is a nice feature on level ground, but it does not regulate speed when going downhill. Lastly, the scooter is surprisingly well powered to take a 150 lb rider up steep hills. On the flip side, my only real complaint is that the rear disc brake is garbage, even on flat surfaces it easily locks up. There will be no quick stops for this scooter without rider intervention. I'm also a bit leery of how well the battery will hold up based on the design and no real protection where the battery sits under the riding surface. That being said, it's a fun ride, makes a trip down the mailbox easy, and portable enough for the teens to take with their friends to the park to ride for a few hours.

This was quick and easy to setup in less than 10 mins. Unfold it and just a few (6) screws to attach the handlebar to the base. When it is charging there are no lights on the scooter itself (display blanks out once plugged in), but there is a red light on the charging pack that changes to green when it’s done charging. The large 10” tires and shocks up front are great! It is a much smoother ride than other rigid scooters I’ve been on. The platform is nice and big for a comfortable standing/riding position. The handles also appear to be replaceable if you ever need to swap out grips and look like they would allow for you to add a side view mirror. Standard scooter controls – left hand break for stopping, bell (useful on a bike path!), and right hand thumb paddle accelerator. 3 speed modes: Eco, Drive, and Sport. Sport mode is zippy! You almost need googles on to keep your eyes from watering at 20 MPH. It’s easy to collapse the stem for carrying, putting in a car, etc. It took me a minute to figure out how to unlatch the scooter once folded (I was pushing down on the top – you need to push the lever under the latch). Note that it’s a bit beefy at 42 lbs. It has a headlight and rear tail light that also blinks when you hit the brake. I like that it has reflectors front, rear, and sides in addition to the lights to help you be seen especially at night. The app is intuitive and found the scooter right away. I like that you can enable/disable cruise control and select whether to pedal or not to start. (In pedal mode it just means you have to kick off with your foot to get it moving prior to the accelerator kicking in - which I actually prefer for a smoother start.) You can also lock it in the app, but like any scooter you’ll want a sturdy lock to actually lock it up if you plan to park it anywhere. Overall seems very sturdy and well built.

The H1-Pro Ace R450 electric scooter is very fun. The scooter comes mostly pre-assembled. The only thing you need to screw on is the handlebars. You will need to remove 6 screws (M5) with the included hex keys (two). There are also extra screws in the bag. There are three speed modes. D = Drive, S = Sport, E = Eco. The default is D and has a max speed of 15 MPH. The get the max speed of 20 MPH, you will need to switch it to Sport mode. It has cruise control which will hold your speed if you hold down the throttle for 6 seconds. Similar to cars, you can disable cruise control by pressing the brake. Now one thing I had to get used to is there is no foot brake (above the rear tire), just a hand brake. This is a disc brake. I skid a little bit when pressing the brake hard when riding at 15 MPH or faster – so be careful. Gently apply the brakes or your rear wheel may lock up and you lose control. You can connect it to their app. It didn’t discover it automatically but I was able to add it manually. You can set the settings easier with the app compared to the screen because there’s only one button where you have to repeatedly press it to cycle through the different speed modes and the last option is the headlights. The build is pretty sturdy and can easily support my weight (155 lbs). You can fold it up and carry but it is fairly heavy at about 42 lbs. It is compact size and can easily fit in your car’s trunk.

Verdict: The Hover H-1 Pro is fast, fun, practical, and reliable. It also includes safety and security features that expand the utility of this scooter. It’s amazing! First impressions. It’s heavy, as expected. The only assembly required is the handlebar, so you can be up and running in 5 minutes. This scooter appears to have quality, heavy-duty components. The scooter has a headlight and a taillight. It has a kickstand, and a sleek-looking LED screen. The scooter comes with a somewhat useful quick start guide (could be more helpful if it had as summary of the button functions; see cheat sheet below). The scooter can pair with an app that actually adds decent functionality; I definitely recommend downloading and using the app. Performance. Like other scooters, to get going, push off and press the throttle button. Acceleration is swift and effective. On “S” mode, the scooter gets up to 20mph in just 5 seconds. The scooter rides very well. It’s stable at high speeds, and impressively smooth on bumps thanks to the front suspension. Braking is easy with the dual disk brakes, even when stopping from full speed. With four speed modes, this scooter maximizes different ways to use it. On walking mode, the scooters stays a low speed, so you don’t have to manage the throttle to ride at walking speed (3mph limit). On economy mode, the scooter still goes fairly fast (9mph limit) and will maximize battery life. On drive mode, speed is limited to 15mph, and on speed mode, the scooter goes up to 20mph. The scooter can go up substantial hills, but it will go up slower. On really steep hills, you can still get up by giving some minor push help. Features. The scooter has a headlight that works fairly well, but going full speed in the dark is probably not advisable. The scooter has cruise control, which turns on automatically after 6 seconds at the same speed (can be turned off). The scooter has self-sealing tube tires, which means no flat tires! Using the app, you can lock the scooter. This function locks the wheels, thus deterring theft. Someone could certainly still carry it away, but I assume it would remain locked and useless. The app also allows rapid changing of the riding mode, turning the headlight on/off, and more. The hook on the handlebar serves a dual function to carry a light bag, and connect to the rear wheel for carrying. For carrying or storage, the scooter can be easily folded in half by pressing a release lever just above the front wheel. Power button functions cheat sheet (you can do all this more easily through the app): - Press and hold: turns the scooter on/off - Press twice: turns headlight on/off - Press three times: toggle between mph and km/hr - Press four times: cruise control on/off - Press five times: change riding mode (walk, eco, drive, speed) - Press six times: change the trip computer from overall mileage to trip distance Things I love. - Great looking and very capable scooter - Very stable and smooth ride; love the front suspension! - Sturdy kickstand - High-quality and heavy-duty build - Range of over 25 miles!! - Folds easily for carrying and storage - Comes with a headlight and taillight to maximize safety - The best feature by far: you can LOCK the scooter with the app - Cruise control is convenient - I love the driving modes because it makes managing desired speeds and battery life much better - Very fun, fast, and practical - Self-sealing tires! Appears to be very reliable - Grippy non-slip handles and riding surface Things I don’t love. - It takes 8 hours to fully charge the battery, but it’s worth it! Conclusion. The Hover H-1 Pro is amazing! It’s the perfect scooter… it has everything we want or need. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I think this scooter is worth every penny in performance, component quality, ride experience, reliability, and safety. I most highly recommend it.

I’ve tried electric scooters in major cities to get around and man, were they scary for a non-electric scooter user. I never really considered getting one myself however after some discussion with the fam, we got the H-1 Pro (R450)! TL;DR for my frequent readers & more below: Good: Sturdy Headlight / Blinking Brake Light Kickstand Power / speed Folding capability Runtime Charging wattage App Bad: Little to no water resistance Poor Instructions Meh: Disc brakes seem to need adjustment (some contact scraping when brakes not engaged) Yes, as of late ‘golf carts’ and ‘electric scooters’ have been a topic in my household. At the price, the R450 is much more cost efficient than a golf cart - so I was happy to get one in the house. So, when putting things together, I read the directions. In this case, the handlebar was attached with a wiring harness that needed to be stuffed inside the neck; the instructions say nothing about wiring, how to bend it. I jammed it in the neck hoping that putting the screws back in wouldn’t puncture the wire; I think all is well. Assembly was a breeze, except the wrench you get with the scooter is pretty small and tends to get caught in the brake cable in certain spots. Once fully assembled, it’s a pretty sturdy scooter with a good kickstand. Then, I went to charge it up via my portable solar generator - which is how I plan on keeping it topped off. While charging, I saw it was drawing about 70 watts in case anyone was curious. Note: When the scooter is charging, you can’t power it on, so don’t be concerned. I set up the App with little effort and it allows you to change the mode, turn on the lights, keep track of mileage and how fast you’re going. You can also track your trip but with a bad stretch of weather I wasn’t able to go as far as I had hoped on it to get more use of the App. When in Sport mode, it gets moving and the 20 mph speed claim is legit – and for me who isn’t a small person, it still had me going 10 mph uphill. While riding, I noticed that there was a slight scraping sound - as if the brake pad was touching the rotor in a place and it never did seem to go away. In the time I had it, I hadn’t attempted to adjust the pads to see if that’d make a difference, however on my road bike with disc brakes, this isn’t all that difficult. I used this with my daughter and her friends a few times - around 45 minutes at a time and lost maybe 15-20% of the battery mixing between modes, flat, up and downhill. At dusk, you can turn on the headlight and the brake light flashes when you’re braking. Because I read the instructions, it did say to stay away from moisture which to me, means that the computer and buttons probably aren’t water rated. Lastly, when storing it - it does collapse down and still, it’s not small but it’s better than being a standup scooter only. All in all, this is a pretty good scooter - in the opinion of an electric scooter newbie. Recommended!

The Hover-1 H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 Foldable Electric Scooter is one excellent scooter. I’ve wanted an electric bike or scooter for a long time and when I got the opportunity to pick this one up, I didn’t hesitate. The reason for an electric scooter is because they are quiet and easy to pack up and take with me on trips. After tons of rainy days, I finally got to take this scooter out and enjoy it. Set up on this scooter was pretty straight forward. I began by fully charging the scooter. While the Hover-1 was charging up I downloaded the H-1 Pro Series app. Once the scooter was fully charged, I turned it on and went to the app and paired it to the Hover-1. I really enjoy this app because you can control all functions of the scooter. Through app you can set up how your take off will be control, either by pushing off the board like a non-electric scooter and once moving then press the hand peddle. The other way is to set it up via the app where you just press the hand peddle and go. There are multiple drive modes that you can choose from. The modes you can choose from is Walk up to 3mph, Eco up to 9mph, Drive up to 15mph and Sport up to 20mph. This app tracks your average speed and your total mileage. You can lock your scooter so no one can jump on it and take off. You can even track your activity. This app pairs well with the H-1 scooter. Once I finally was able to get the Hover-1 out and ride I went over to Jekyll Island, GA and put about 15 miles on it. Its really easy to get use to and very smooth. I never felt unstable and this thing soaks up bumps nicely via the front shocks. I tried each of the modes and usually found myself using the Drive mode. Each mode does the exact mph that was advertised. I cruised around for few hours taking in the sights having lunch and just enjoying the day. I had such a great time with the H-1 and can’t wait to do more trips. This is by far the best way to sight see while traveling. Not only does it have excellent range is quiet and comfortable. I recommend anyone looking to get one of these, do not think twice and pick on up, you won’t regret it.

Being a self proclaimed Electric Scooter aficionado, this is my fourth Hover-1 electric scooter that I’ve owned. And just like the previous scooters I’ve tried Hover-1 has another winner on their hands. First, I’ll start with the basics, this scooter named Ace R450, ProSeries comes well packaged in its box, with some Styrofoam inserts to keep everything in its place. The first thing you should do is fully charge the battery. Second thing you have to do is screw on the handlebars/screen/ throttle assembly, very easy to do its just one piece. Just tighten six screws and that’s it. There was another set of six screws included that must be extras because I have no idea where they go. Riding: The scooter rode very well in my initial runs, the shocks in the front really help and the innertube air filled tires felt great. Electronics: the screen on the scooter looks good, I like how it’s integrated seamlessly in the middle of the handlebar/ throttle area. The tail light is nice and bright and lights up even more red when you press on the brakes, just like a cars tail lights would. The lone front headlight it’s just average at best, it’ll light your way in the dark, but that’s about it, it’s not extra strong or bright or anything like that. just average. Brakes: only one bicycle style hand brake. It gets the job done, but this electric scooter does not excel in this department, other similar scooters have a secondary brake in the back that you can use your foot to step on, but not here. Just one brake. Miscellaneous: the front stem is really sturdy, these things have come along way since scooters first started coming out, the folding hinge works really well and it’s really sturdy, no play in it. The handlebars are really comfortable. The kickstand is just OK. There’s four different speed modes. The fastest being up to 20 mph. Switching between the different modes is really easy. The weight comes in at approximately 41 pounds. Not too heavy. Conclusion : overall, this is a well-built scooter, you can tell that as the years have gone by and different models of scooters have came out, there is improvements made to each one. Even though the scooter weIghs about 41lbs You could tell that Hover-1 really wanted to keep the weight light while still making a strong, fast scooter. It is made of metal and plastics and metal is used where the scooter needs the most strength while using plastic for everything else like the platform you stand on. this keeps the scooter as strong and lightweight as possible. And finally, this electric scooter does have cruise control, and it’s kick to start, meaning you need to give the scooter a kickstart before you can actually go, this is done to put less stress on the motor and prolong its life.

Hover's Ace R450 is a one person scooter that is on the smaller side. It has several nice specs for an electric scooter. With a range of about 25 miles, max speed of 20mph, and a LED digital screen for information (odometer, current mode, speed, battery life), it gives a nice riding experience. Other than the technology, it has a kickstand so it stays upright when not in use, folds for storage, and weighs a little under 42 lbs if it needs to be carried. Lastly, it also has a small bell next to the brake handle and a light that helps for night time riding. While the light will not illuminate much of the path in front of you like a car, it does help so cars passing by can see you in the dark. Through the time I’ve spent riding it and using it with family, I’ve noticed a few things. One, although it is strongly not recommended, it only fits one person and does not have enough space for someone else to tag along comfortably. Two, as a person on the heavier side (250 lbs), I did notice that to reach the max speed of 20mph, it took about ⅛ of a mile or about 16 seconds. The initial acceleration of the scooter is quick though and can knock you back if you twist the accelerator too quickly (be careful!) but it does take a little longer to reach the max speed. Opposite the acceleration, the braking on the scooter is very nice. If you need to stop quickly or slow down when reaching a stop, it handled stops well and didn’t have a long brake distance (from braking to a full stop). The ride is pretty smooth on the scooter; while on sidewalks and gravel/dirt paths, I was able to ride through it easily. Since the tires are smaller and are not meant to be used on bumpier terrain, I would say it's best to avoid larger bumps. As I went over a few I noticed that the dual shocks absorbed the impacts well and kept me balanced on the scooter. I was not able to go over street curbs though and don’t recommend it since the clearance under the scooter is only 4 inches. On the plus side, Hover added “self-healing” tires to keep them inflated even if a small puncture occurs. I did like that the accelerator and the brake were on opposite handles and sides of the digital screen and made it easy to use. On the screen, you are able to also click through different modes the scooter has (Sport, Drive, Eco, and Walk). Each mode has its own max speed and helps to regulate how fast you’d like to go, depending on your route. The biggest downside to this scooter compared to competitors is the duration and charge time of the battery. Other scooters offer more mileage per charge and charge at a similar amount of time. Additionally, it would’ve been nice to see larger tires on the scooter to help go over larger bumps easier. Overall, its smaller footprint and quick initial acceleration makes it a great everyday scooter for some outside fun and small commutes.

The H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 is a well built foldable electric scooter full of features that boasts a sleek design, a powerful motor, and a sporty ride. Weighing at around 40 pounds, the Ace R450 is easy to set up. Out of the box, it is folded and except for the handlebar that needs to be affixed with screws, it is well put together and ready to go once charged. The weight of the scooter adds to the feel of good quality build. According to the manual, the first charge would last about eight hours, however after less than four hours it was at 100%. Once charged, I hit the power button and the LED display on the handlebar lit up. It is bright, well designed and shows all the relevant information such as the speed, the mileage, front light settings, Bluetooth connection and the ride speed settings that can be set to ‘Walk’, ‘Eco’, ‘Drive’ and ‘Sports’ modes. It even has a cruise control mode. The app connects quickly to the scooter and has all the relevant information similar to the LED display on the handlebar with the addition of Google Maps in my case. The user interface makes it easy to use. It is a sleek looking scooter that combines modern and traditional designs. The handlebar has the traditional controls with the rear brake lever on the left next to the bell and the speed controller on the right. The LED light in the front is powerful enough to ride in low light. The 10-inch tubeless tires are labeled as ‘self-sealing’ and would automatically seal small punctures and keep you rolling.. Make sure to know the local rules before you start riding. Riding the Ace R450 is enjoyable. I’ve been riding in my neighborhood and I made a few trips outside to visit friends nearby. In the past five days, I have accumulated a little over 60 miles and it’s been very reliable. The range is about 25 miles depending on how fast you’re riding. My longest ride was a back and forth trip of about 20 miles riding on ‘Drive’ mode, limited to 15 mph, and it did it without issues only with the charge under 20%. I’m impressed by the quick acceleration even in ‘Eco’ mode that has a low top speed. The manufacturer claims a top speed of 20mph and I was able to verify that speed in an open and safe environment. The dual front shock suspension absorbs bumps and vibrations quite well on uneven surfaces and keeps the scooter stable. However, I would say the ride is more on the sporty side than the comfortable side. The turn radius is good and the rear disc brakes have great stopping power. My only gripe is the flimsy kickstand that folds back too easily with the lightest push forward. The H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 is a solidly built scooter with good performance, a sporty ride, and convenient features. I have enjoyed riding it and I feel safe even at higher speeds with the security provided by the disc brakes. If it fits into your budget, I would give it a try either for fun or short commute.

Smooth ride but needed adjustments out of the box

This is my first electric scooter and I've been wanting one for quite some time now, primarily to use as a pit vehicle during race weekends at the track. So I was excited for the opportunity to get this Hover-1 Pro Ace R450. But first, I had to try it around the neighborhood, because honestly, I've never had any scooter of any kind so I don't even know how to ride one. Unboxing the scooter it felt a little bit heavier than I expected, but as I haven't had any other scooters I couldn't tell you how the weight compares to others. I will say however, that with the weight, it feels like a high quality unit, one that can withstand some abuse and hopefully be more dependable. Setup was fairly minimal, basically it just consists of attaching the handlebars to the front shaft. This was easy enough, although some of the threaded holes weren't perfectly straight, that left a couple bolts not quite sitting flush with the shaft once installed and tightened down. Everything was still secure though. After that, it was just a matter of plugging it in and fully charging it before its first use. Now it was finally time to ride it. This scooter has 4 different speed modes, so being my first time I started off with Eco mode that limits the speed to only 9 mph. I started out perfectly, almost like I've ridden scooters before. I had no problem balancing, which I'm sure the weight helps with. The ride was smooth, I had a smile on my face, and then I hit the brakes, and my smile rattled away. Something started clicking loudly around the wheels. At first it went away, then I went up to Drive mode to get a little faster and as soon as I hit about 13 mph the clicking started up again and much louder. After spending a little time trying to troubleshoot, I determined the brakes needed to be adjusted. Looking at the brake rotor in the caliper, it was clear the rotor was way too close to one side, and even more evident as I noticed that when I applied the brakes, the rotor itself would actually move sideways. This meant the calipers needed to be adjusted to try and center the rotor better. Only problem is I couldn't find any info, either in the included manual or on Hover-1's site, about how to adjust the brakes. Luckily there was a good video online for a different scooter that showed how to adjust electric scooter brakes. The brake caliper wasn't an exact match, but mechanically functioned similarly and was close enough that I tried it on mine. I adjusted the brake calipers and problem solved, no more clicking and the rotor was no longer moving sideways when applying the brakes. The process, in case you face a similar situation, was easy enough, just loosen two caliper bolts, the ones that you can see looking down on top of the caliper with one in front and one in back, using a T30 star bit. With the 2 bolts loosened enough to allow the caliper to move around freely, apply the brakes which should cause the caliper to move into a centered position on the rotor, and with the brakes still applied, re-tighten the 2 caliper bolts. That's all there was to it. Really easy and I'm surprised there's almost no information provided by Hover-1 about the brakes other than to 'make sure they're operational'. With the clicking from the brakes now fixed, and a full operational check complete, it was time to go back out. I rode the scooter in all the modes, and at all speeds, and the ride couldn't be smoother. The top speeds I got to perfectly matched the noted top speeds in the manual, at least per the speedometer. Going around my neighborhood I hardly felt any of the bumps in the road, the front suspension doing its job absorbing them all. Turning was easy enough too, although it took a few quicker and sharper turns to start getting used to leaning into them. Overall it was an awesome ride. The battery seems to be lasting a long time too, I've put a lot of use on it and haven't hardly depleted the battery. Charging did seem to take a little longer than I'd expect it to, at least for the first full charge, but I don't think that'll be an issue with how I'll be using it and the fact that I try not to fully deplete these batteries before charging them back up. Overall this really is a great scooter and I can't wait to take it out to the race track for the first time. It's just too bad there seems to be a quality control issue during production, between the slightly angled threaded holes for the handlebars and the fact that right out of the box the brakes were so badly out of adjustment that it made a horrible loud clicking noise. The materials used seem to be high quality though, and normally I would have given this scooter 5 stars were it not for the production quality issues. Hopefully nothing else pops up but so far after numerous miles (which by the way the scooter has an odometer which I love!), it's been working and riding perfectly. In the end, the issues were either minor or easily fixed so I'm still happy to give it 4 out of 5 stars.

This is not the first Hover-1 product I have owned (I have also owned 2 of their hoverboards, one beginner and one more advanced model). Like the other Hover-1 products I have tried, this scooter is very solid, easy to use, has useful features, and is a good value for the range/top speed you get. I weight 225lbs and I found it to be easy to ride with plenty of power. I really enjoy riding this scoot and I am out on it every day (weather permitting). ---Pros--- 1. The H-1 Pro Series App works great on my iPhone. It was easy to connect over Bluetooth. I like how easy it is to lock out the scooter for security, change modes/settings, view exact battery level, and see riding info (distance and average speed). 2. Sturdy, integrated kick stand 3. Folding handle and lightweight make it reasonably easy to store. 4. Bright red taillight that flashes when brakes are applied. 5. Nice touches like a bell and hook for a small bag (or your helmet when parked) on the handlebar. 6. Multiple throttle response and max speed modes to suit your comfort level or conditions. In “speed” mode I was easily able to hit 20mph (max speed per the specifications). 7. Cruise control is intuitive. Sets automatically after a few seconds of constant speed and releases if you touch the brake or throttle again. I like setting it around 10mph and just cruising along. 8. Rear brake works well and is perfect for beginners. 9. Front shock and good tires handle small bumps well. 10. Handlebar is sturdy, has rubber grips, and is a good height for me at 5’9”. ---Things to consider--- 1. Headlight works for twilight and early evening rides in my neighborhood with dark spots between streetlights but may not be enough in really dark areas. 2. I admit that I have not followed the instructions on maximizing the battery (steady pace and moderate speed). With lots of stop and go… and a few miles at 15-20mph, I am getting around 15 miles on a charge (less than the 25 miles in the specs, but still good for me). 3. The display is clear and easy to read, even in the afternoon sun. Without the app, you toggle options and modes with different combinations of power button presses, but the single button works well once you get used to it. I do wish the battery level on the built-in display was more exact; while displayed as a percent in the app, the onboard display uses 5 segments (20% each) to show only approximate charge level. 4. The foot pad is tight for my size 11 feet. For longer rides, I have to adjust my footing a few times to find the perfect balance, but it is manageable. 5. Charges in 8hrs (typically I recharge at around 30% and it takes around 5hrs). The power supply does have a bright green/red LED to indicate charging status. 6. Very well written instructions and graphics for assembly and operation. They also have a lot of notes on riding and battery life. It is minor, but I do wish they covered battery removal in detail, as I was considering removing it for longer periods of storage in my unconditioned garage. 7. The scooter is almost completely assembled out of the box. You only have to attach the pre-wired handlebar but be careful; a few of the screws were cross threaded/misaligned when originally installed at the factory… don’t force them… once you have them straight and any metal debris is removed, they will thread in easily with patience. 8. Very well written instructions and graphics for assembly and operation. They also have a lot of notes on riding and battery life. It is minor, but I do wish they covered battery removal in detail, as I was considering removing it for longer periods of storage in my unconditioned garage.

Compact Foldable Scooter Fun for Adults

Setup This box was a big chongus and came in around 52lbs. It is large and somewhat awkward, so get some help bringing it in through a door or steps! Unpack the well-packaged box to reveal the Hover-1 Pro Ace R450. Essentially, it's already built in the box and folded. Unfold the frame, attach the handle, and tighten the pre-installed set screws (and an extra set). After you secure the six screws, charge the battery. Once charged to 100%, the indicator light will turn green from red when finished. Charge time can take up to 8 hours from 0%, so I recommend topping it off occasionally when you plan to ride long and fast. Take time to set the trip meter on the display and set the units to MI from KM. Familiarize yourself with the display and learn the power button taps to activate or deactivate features. Once customized to your liking and fully charged, grab a helmet and RIDE! There is also an app I highly recommend downloading to add a lock function so the rear tire cannot roll for further deterrence. However, the app is not necessary. The app is more of a gimmick than a feature. A lot more integration and polish needs to go into it before it is ready for use. Build The H1Pro Ace R450 construction is exceptionally well built and close to commercial quality on the frame. It is thick metal and solid enough to handle any human up to 264 lbs. The folding hinge and locking mechanism to keep it locked are premium! The primary latch has another latch for a double locking mechanism that seriously solidifies the build. The sole weakness is that the undercarriage battery case is exposed on the sides to impact seams catch water. Side impacts could damage the battery since the thin metal battery brace only protects the bottom of the scooter. I don't know if the battery is sealed for waterproofing, but riding in the elements could lead to the potential for moisture to enter the pack. The tires are thick and have self-sealing tires. This increases durability and hopefully reduces a flat while riding. Walking back is never fun with a flat; I have yet to test it, but I would love to know EXACTLY what that means. Is the tube inside like Kevlar "run-flat," or is it just solid rubber that can take an impact and will lose tire over time? Performance This scooter is SUPER FUN to ride. The pickup during acceleration is crazy, going from 0-20 in maybe 5-7 seconds, depending on weight and incline. The battery performs well. I got close to 18 miles on the odometer before it was close to dead. I can go a week before needing to charge riding 2 miles each way daily with light use. Overall, the performance you get and the fun I had makes this well worth the price of admission! The value proposition is crazy for the price and build quality. Brake performance is not great out of the box, and I highly recommend turning the cable to tighten the excess play in the brake wire. My scooter out of the box would only engage the brakes once I squeezed almost to the handlebar 80% of the way. I like tighter brakes similar to a mountain bike, so you may be ok with it. The front shock significantly improves the ride over other scooters I have. Safety The Ace 450 wheels are marked with reflective tape for side visibility and headlight/taillight for front/rear visibility. The tail light is exceptionally bright with a wide throw. When brakes are engaged, the red taillight blinks to attract attention so others can see you. There are no turn signals, so you must use proper hand signals for riding. There is a headlight that lights 15 feet ahead of you, but you cannot raise it any further than the handlebar indention to see further ahead. I recommend a light you can mount on your helmet or head strap for improved sightlines in the dark, but the light is ample. The tires are advertised as "self-sealing," which I see as a safety benefit. However, I wanted to avoid testing it because tires aren't for sale anywhere. Interface/Ease of Use Everything is intuitive and easy to use. Things you need are clearly laid out and large on display, and all vital information is provided. There is an odometer and trip meter like in a car - a cool addition you usually don't see. All settings are made by tapping the power button for different things. I am not a fan of all the clicking on the power button to get things done, but the app is the solution for this, bringing an overall more effortless experience to the rider. Things to Know There are a few things you should know about if you decide to purchase this. My first concern is where I can get a new tire and brakes for this scooter. No parts are listed, and much information about recommended maintenance or care for this. There is a lack of information and support for this after purchase. Parts and things aren't easily stated, so you must research or trash your scooter when there is a flat. A local bike shop could help possibly find a tire, but I don't have one near me to see. The app tracks your rides while also providing a display mirroring the details on your scooter. The app allows for wireless operation of the lights; however, that is all along with setting the modes. The latch is so strong and secure that it requires a firm grip to open, then you need to pull the latch once more to unlock it and allow it to fold. This will take some time, but overall, it contributes to the lovely construction. Future Potential for Improvement Make parts more readily available and easily purchased on your site. I still need help finding information about brakes or tires for many of the scooters Hover-1 has. The app is a nice touch but needs to be polished. After using the regular app and then the one made for this scooter, the Pro app launches the regular app for HUD. I would like to see the scooter auto-lock once the Bluetooth connection is broken in case the scooter is stolen to hinder a fast getaway. I may even cause the thief to think something was wrong with it, or worse, it's broken. Maybe even add battery notifications and charge reminders and integrate them into "FindMyDevice" for iOS and Android. Add a drink holder to the accessory list or mounting holes drilled into the frame with caps for future upgrades. Verdict In all, I highly recommend this as a budget adult scooter. This is powerful, compact, and has enough range to make a day of riding. If you can get parts for this, I don't see why this wouldn't last forever! This is just built so solid it is almost commercial quality available to the masses! The Hover-1 Pro Ace 450 is an excellent addition for those who want to get into the scooter culture at a wonderful price.

The H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 isn't just another electric scooter; it's an extremely useful transportation device that can be used for recreation as well as commuting needs. From its sleek design to its advanced features, this scooter has defined what a baseline scooter should be. Let’s start with some key specifications: • Net Weight: 41.67 lbs. (18.9 kg) • Max Supported weight: 264 lbs. (120 kg). • Min Supported weight: 40 lbs. (18 kg). The Scooter’s battery has these key specifications: • Type: Rechargeable Lithium-ion • Charge time: Up to 8 hours • Capacity: 10.4 Ah • Voltage: 36.5 Vdc • Working/Charging/Storage Temperatures: 32°F - 104°F (0°C – 40°C) Firstly, the build quality is exceptional. The durable aluminum alloy frame not only looks stunning but also provides a sturdy foundation for the scooter. Whether navigating city streets or cruising through parks, I felt confident in its stability. The scooter can fold for ease if storage in your home on in a vehicle, as well as making it a bit easier to carry when it’s not in use. The 450W motor is where the Ace R450 truly shines. With effortless acceleration and a top speed of 20 mph, this scooter is a joy to ride. Plus, the four speed-modes cater to different riding preferences, whether you're in the mood for a leisurely cruise or need to get somewhere fast. One of the standout features is the dual front shock suspension system. It absorbs bumps and uneven terrain with ease, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride every time. Combined with the 10” self-sealing tubeless tires, flat tires are a worry of the past, allowing me to focus on enjoying the journey. But it's not just about performance; the Ace R450 also prioritizes safety, security and convenience. The remote lock feature provides peace of mind against theft, while the H-1 Pro Series App allows me to track the scooter's location at any time. This app also allows me to change the speed-modes, track the mileage from both a trip and total perspective and change the units of measurement (miles vs kilometers) and control the lights on the device to enhance my safety while riding. With a range of up to 25.6 miles, I can explore far and wide without worrying about running out of battery. And thanks to the elegant LED display, I can easily keep track of my speed, battery level, and more at a glance. The charging block is about the same size as a typical laptop charging block allowing it to be easily carried in case one’s adventures are a bit longer and need a battery boost. For this review I obtained some extra usage impressions from the other members of my household with the following backgrounds that I believe are important. The first additional user is an adult male with both skateboarding and past rental scooter usage. The second additional user Is my wife, she has no past skateboarding experience, and no past scooter experience. She is a pedal assist e-bike rider. The final user is me, an adult male with past skateboarding experience, no scooter experience, and I am also a pedal assist e-bike rider. The first additional user stated that he believed the scooter to not be as robust as the rental scooter that he rode previously, but also noted that this scooter was 25% faster than the rental scooter. He was impressed that it could accelerate on one of the neighborhood’s hills he rode it on. My wife and I did a test where we tried out all four of the speed modes Walk (0 – 3 MPH / 5 KM/H); Eco (0 – 9 MPH/ 14.5 KM/H); Drive (0 – 15 MPH/24 KM/H); and Sport (0 – 20 MPH / 32 KM/H). Each of these modes has a purpose – the walk mode for example could be used while accompanying another person on a walk, eco could be used to get some additional time/range or for a casual ride, while the Drive and Sport modes for when you need to get somewhere quickly or just have a “need for speed.” My wife found the device enjoyable and found the walk and eco modes most comfortable. We also agreed that this scooter is suitable for paved Surfaces such as greenways, sidewalks, and roads. This aligns to the manual’s safety instructions which cautions against “riding in off-road terrain”. My wife and I also discussed the use case for this device vs our existing e-bikes and concluded that each person using a device would have to determine which works best for their use case. For example, in a highly urban setting, this scooter could likely meet most users’ needs, even going so far as being a possible automobile replacement. One item we discussed was going to the grocery store and agreed that a backpack could be used but would likely be for getting smaller amounts of groceries. For my usage testing, I tended to enjoy the Drive and sport modes as I apparently have a need for speed but could see useful uses for the lower modes in more crowed settings and the other use cases already mentioned. Just a reminder that to change the speed modes and work some of the functions, such as the lock feature, and the lights – you must be using the H-1 Pro series app and connect to the scooter via Bluetooth. In summary, the H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 is more than just a scooter; it's a smart companion for urban/suburban adventurers. Whether you're commuting to work or exploring the city on weekends, this scooter delivers a thrilling and hassle-free ride every time. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their urban/suburban mobility experience. There are two areas I would consider for improvement for this scooter. First would be to see what could be done about the weight of the device to enhance its portability when not in use. While I appreciate the app. Making it a bit more obvious on how to control the scooter via the onboard controls would be appreciated.

The H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 e-scooter is a blast to ride on. This is the best scooter I've ridden with its sleek looks and comfortable ride quality. The Hover 1 brand has made some nice upgrades to this e-scooter and I've been very pleased with it. The most noticeable thing I have found while riding this e-scooter is the dual front suspension shock system. These really help to make the ride more comfortable and less jarring as you ride on sidewalks or streets. I feel as if the shock absorption makes me more in control and provides better stability for slow or faster speeds. Speaking of speeds, this is a spunky scooter that can get up to 20mph which feels quite fast when you're riding on it for leisure or as your main mode of transportation. It really has some zip to it and you really feel some instant torque. With the easy push button on the dash you have the ability to control various modes. There are 4 speed modes offering different maximum speed levels to help for various cruising speeds or to max out your battery. And that brings me to the battery which I feel is quite adequate for an e-scooter like this. 36V battery with 10.4Ah, paired with a 450W motor. This can give you a maximum range of 25.6 miles which I would think is pretty good for zipping around city blocks, or neighborhoods. The R450 is an adult e-scooter and can handle a maximum support weight of 264 pounds, so take that into consideration based on your personal statistics. The front LED headlight is nice to have for evening or low visibility riding times, and the brake light on the back is helpful to keep others around you aware of your stopping ability. This e-scooter also comes with 10" self sealing tubeless tires which I'm hoping will be helpful for the long term. Stopping ability is precise and efficient due to the front drum brake and the rear disc brake system, which is operated by the lever brake on the left handle bar. Another feature worth noting is that there is an odometer on this dashboard display which is helpful to know how long you've ridden or how many miles your e-scooter has on it total for any maintenance that you decide to do. There is a Hover-1 app available for this scooter which gives you location settings and the ability to track your e-scooter, and allows you to change modes. Overall a great e-scooter for an individual or a family to get around. This is not just a toy scooter, as I feel I would easily find this useful in an urban environment to get around. It's an investment in an e-scooter as a way of transportation in many settings. Convenient to store away as well, with its foldable shaft. Fun and useful e-scooter.

After extensive research across various electric scooter brands and price ranges, I can confidently say that the Hover-1 H1 Pro Series Ace R450 electric scooter is a true standout in the market. This exceptional scooter has exceeded my expectations in every way, delivering an unrivaled combination of range, power, construction quality, and performance. I had this scooter for nearly 2 weeks and I must say for everything in this price point hands down five stars. Comparison with other scooters: While there are multiple companies on the market that offer quality electric scooters, the H1 Pro ultimately won me over. Its exceptional range, powerful motor, and solid construction made it the clear choice for my needs and aspirations. The Hover-1 brand's commitment to providing an outstanding product is evident in every aspect of the H1 Pro. It's fantastic value for a 600 USD scooter. Honestly for a commuter scooter there is no better value out there. The build quality is great. The ride is relatively smooth. There's water proofing. The weight limit is higher than most. It's top speed and max distance is better than others in this price point. There's plenty of room on the deck. Scooter looks great. Folds and unfolds very easily. Accessories fit onto the scooter very easily. Anything you can get for a bike will work for this. The display is bright even to see in the day under direct sunlight. All of the battery issues are completely justified at the price. In conclusion, the H1 Pro has truly revolutionized my commuting experience. Its remarkable range, impressive power, and exceptional build quality make it a standout choice in the electric scooter market. I wholeheartedly recommend the H1 Pro to anyone seeking a top-tier scooter that delivers on every front. This scooter has exceeded my expectations, and I am excited to see where it takes me on my future journey.

I am writing this review for the H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 E-Scooter. The very first thing I should point out is that I have never owned or ridden any type of scooter at all. I had no idea what to expect. When the scooter arrived at my house, I noticed how much it weighed. The scooter itself weighs in at a little over 40 pounds. Hover did an amazing job at packaging the scooter for shipment, and the heavy-duty shipping box combined with the inner packaging box significantly added to the overall weight of the package. Because it was a bit heavy, I chose to open it up cutting the packing tape on the bottom and lift the shipping box up over the inside box, rather than trying to lift the inside box out of the shipping box. I recommend doing this as it makes unpacking the R450 much easier. As I looked at the R450 after I had unpacked it, the assembly appeared to be quite simple and intuitive. To be safe, however, I read through the quick start guide. The only real assembly required is to mount the handlebar unit. The quick start guide didn’t address the excess electric cable protruding from the neck of the scooter, and this is a bit of a shortcoming in my opinion. Pushing the excess cable into the neck was no easy matter, and I began to think I was doing something wrong. But in the end, there was no other way to assemble the handlebar without forcing the excess cable down into the neck. The quick start guide showed no wires or cables at all in the diagram. I couldn’t help but think about how many unfortunate incidents there might be because of this issue. Hover included six screws in a package along with two Allen wrenches. Again, the quick start guide didn’t cover this. Why is this even a little issue? Only because the needed screws came “pre-screwed” into the alignment holes for attaching the handlebar. In order to attach the handlebar, it was necessary to first remove the pre-screwed screws. Since they were already screwed in, I was left to wonder where the extra six screws belonged. Installing the handlebar was a simple task, really. All the holes lined up with each other, except one. This ended up being the most time-consuming aspect of the assembly. I had to remove and reinsert the handlebar unit several times and was never able to get the last hole to line up enough to where I could screw in the last screw. At first I thought it might be the wire I had to force down the neck, but that wasn’t the case. In the end I had to leave out that last screw, but this did not affect the securing of the handlebar. After it was all assembled, I still had the six extra screws that I couldn’t find a place for. I could only hope and pray something wouldn’t fall off while I was riding, lol. I then charged the R450. After a few hours, I was ready to try it out! As I said at the beginning of this review, I have never owned or ridden a scooter before. I was a tad apprehensive, but I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. I thoroughly acquainted myself with the different settings on the display unit. There are four different riding modes to choose from on the R450…Sport Mode, Drive Mode, Eco Mode, and Walk Mode. Each mode has its own unique MPH limits, from 3 MPH all the way up to a maximum of 20 MPH. Because of my inexperience, I chose to use the Drive Mode. That way if I crashed and burned, I wouldn’t be seriously injured. I cannot tell you just how amazingly easy it was. I started off with one foot on the scooter, and one on the ground, and started off like I was riding a skateboard. I then pushed the accelerator and the scooter took off. It was smooth as silk. There was no shuddering, jerking or excessive acceleration. After only a few minutes of riding up and down the driveway, I felt like I had become an expert. Yes, it is that easy. The scooter is extremely well-balanced and sturdy. You can feel how wonderfully built it is as it moves effortlessly along. I even rode it in the yard with zero issues. One thing I really appreciate about the Hover R450 is that it comes with a cruise control function that is automatically engaged after holding the throttle at the same speed for six seconds. This eliminates all of the speed nuances that are common with thumb throttles, that is, no speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, etc. Thank you Hover for doing this! The User’s Manual goes into great detail outlining safety. As I read over the many warnings, I noticed that most of the warnings were “common sense” in nature. Don’t slam on the brake, don’t ride on slopes, don’t exceed the weight limit, and don’t turn sharply at high speeds. I truly appreciate these many warnings, especially being such a newbie. I rode the R450 off and on for the remainder of that first day. I was happy with how much charge it still had after a day’s use. I have been using it every day since. I had thought about taking it to work and using it around town, but quickly decided against that. Too many reckless drivers. So what is my final verdict? The Hover-1 R450 is a spectacular piece of machinery! It’s easy to ride, handles extremely well, has a long battery life, and even folds up for storage and transporting. It accelerates smoothly and effortlessly. The brake works perfectly, that is, it isn’t touchy and won’t throw you off the scooter if you just barely touch the brake handle. It is well built and everything about it screams of high quality. If not for that one minor screw issue, there would be nothing at all to distract from its perfection. Well, other than the cable issue, and after I thought about that for a good while, I understood that it was necessary in order to store the handlebar for shipment. Would I recommend the Hover-1 R450 to my friends and family? ABSOLUTELY! It is a wonderful way to spend time taking in the scenery, just cruising along, the wind blowing in your hair. For the more adventurous, the scooter is so well built that it can take most of what you throw at it. If you have never used a scooter before, I am proof that that isn’t an issue. If I can hop on it and go without any problems, any one can. If you have been thinking about whether to buy a scooter or not, DO IT. The R450 is perfect for you!

The scooter is well balanced, takes good corners. I have had it at 21 mpg. The front shocks aren’t just for looks. I use this at trade shows, and my coworkers are jealous and waiting for taxi cabs.

Let me start by noting that I weigh 220lbs which is a few pounds under the maximum limit for the R450. After riding around the neighborhood for some time, I am impressed by the power, speed, and distance, and believe, in those respects, the scooter excels. The materials and build are premium. The controls are intuitive and well placed. The LCD is easy to read, even in direct sunlight. The ride is smooth. When transitioning from flat to bumpy surfaces, there was no issue with stability and the shock absorption is superb. Although the manual states to avoid too many hazards, a few pot holes were not a problem. At first I thought the brakes were inefficient, but after reading they were pressure sensitive, I reevaluated and noted the difference. This will take some adjusting. On my E-bike, you can gradually slow on a hill by the amount of pressure applied, and a sight final pull completes the stop. Here it is more relative to the rapidity of force to achieve a gradual slow to a stop, and often I was worried I wasn't going to stop before the intersection without a jerking halt. Once again, they work, just take some adjusting. It is foldable, not portable. Once folded and locked, I can carry it one-handed(awkwardly) up stairs to wherever I need to store it, but because of its girth and shape, it can be cumbersome to bring indoors, which leads to my biggest qualm...charging. I'm at a loss for the ideal charging situation. Being that the charging port is on the tip of the kick pad, you need to be near an outlet as the charging brick and provided cable are short in length and are built for indoor usage. As stated above, I can lift and tug around this scooter, but my wife, this would be a challenge. This would have been easily solved with a removable battery. With my home and set-up, this is definitely a hindrance for efficiency of moving the scooter to and fro for usage. Another option would be if it was suited to live outdoors, but... From the language in the manual, you want ideal conditions and keep away from water because it could damage the internal circuitry. Which leads me to believe it is not weather sealed. That's unfortunate. A great feature of all the pay to ride scooters is they are always ready to go, rain or shine. I am not confident I could take this out in rain, or even a drizzle without fear of voiding warranty. This also hinders me from leaving outdoors for storage. It's an odd omission. Lastly, I'm sure you could, but the manual mentions not carrying anything on the scooter. That's odd an this is marketed as another form of viable transportation. Whether going to work, to the store, or the gym, you will often have a bag/backpack of some sort for articles. This isn't recommended. Small warning, but if you're following all instructions, that limits the purpose. I absolutely enjoy the build, ride, and quality of the scooter and would recommend it, but I recommend one take in the shortcoming and necessities of ownership before adding to your vehicular arsenal.
