1- scooter is well built, minus one of the holes for the handlebar screw having bad threads.
2. Scooter is quick but rides incredibly rough for having suspension. Cannot see straight while riding, this is on a recently paved asphalt road. Feels like my brain is rattling. It’s even worse for my 12 yo son.
3- scooter will not charge at all, charger light is green before even plugging in scooter. Have an open ticket with Hover-1 right now.

Fun Scooter, heavy, tall

I received and setup this electric scooter a little over a week ago. The assembly is fairly simple and the instructions are easy too.
My main comments are:
it's pretty heavy (obvious to some, it's a motorized scooter and has a large batter and motor, so duh). But you realize it if you try to carry it up/down stairs, or lift it over a curb.
It takes a while to charge (books says around 6 hr)
It's pretty tall and the handlebars sit high for me-I am 5-9.
It does go 20mph and get's there quick on flat or gentle slope.
Here's the setup/ride experience.
The box says 80lb but it seems heavier to me (I'm used to lighter scooters/bikes w/o motor)
Easy to unpack and get setup. The only assembly is to attach the handle bars to the main post. It's collapsible for storage so it comes that way. You stand up the post and clip it in place, then attached the handlebars w/ the provided screws and wrench.
Mine did not come with a charge on it so I plugged it in for a full charge. I had it for about 2 hours before I tried to test it but still wouldn't turn on, so I plugged it in for the rest of the night to get 6+ hours. The plug is a small laptop size cord/plug that goes into the covered socket near the rear wheel. Once charged:
Collapsed/stored it takes up about 1'x4'x1' folded. To open/operate you unclip the handlebars from the rear wheel with the release button, then stand it up completely until it clips into the upright position and secure the safety over the clip (it is clear as you look at the front wheel/handlebar). (To store/collapse you do the reverse.)
All the screen/display controls are done w/ a single button:
Hold-power on
Hold-power off
push once-switch from Pedestrian(P)to Eco(E) to Drive(D) to Sport(S)
push twice-turn on/off headlights (headlights are on automatic for Ped mode-you have to turn them on for the others)
Ped goes up to 3MPH, Eco up to 10MPH, Drive up to 15MPH, and Sport up to 20MPH. All these on a flat or low slope. Steeper slopes will drop off a few MPH. You can push to assist.
The scooter does not start powered from a stop but just a single kick-push is plenty.
The power/gas is a push lever on the right handle (where a bike gear shift would be) and the brakes are on the front of each handle bar like a bike.
My comments on the gas & brake are as follows:
the brakes aren't great. I was depressing completely before fully engaged - so be aware of steel hills and stopping distance. It does not stop on a dime.
the gas lever works well but is tough to maintain a speed other than full speed. Due to the scooter bouncing w/ normal riding vibrations and start/stop it felt jumpy while trying to maintain a speed.
Last is with the height and the riding deck:
the handlebars sit high for me (mid chest level) and the riding deck is higher than a normal Razor scooter. This makes it a little uncomfortable, and difficult if you wanted to push and motor assist. The deck is about 6" from the ground. Second is for that high deck there is not much clearance. I had to lift/lower to get over small steps or curbs.
Fun scooter, could use some tweaks.

Solid scooter with a bit of a jumpy throttle
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
My biggest complaint about this scooter is that the throttle doesn't feel super smooth. When accelerating, it feels like the throttle kicks in very lightly at first before it just suddenly jumps forward (rather violently when in Sport mode). The odd sensitivity seems to be amplified when driving over rougher roads as well, because it's not just the suspension not absorbing everything - I can definitely feel the motor being a bit jerky.
That aside, I really like this scooter. It's a very solid design - it feels heavy and sturdy, it's not too flashy, and it's a very smooth ride as long as you're not riding over roads coated in rocks. I would like if it was a bit easier to control without using the app, though. The different modes are very nice to have - I'm not very good with balance and coordination, so Sport mode is actually too much for me to handle; but the Eco mode is great for narrower roads or calmer driving and Drive is a good all-rounder. The battery life seems to be pretty good, and I haven't noticed any issues with going up hills.
The HUD is pretty clean, which is nice. I do like having an odometer as well. The headlights and taillights seem decently bright without being hazardous, and the steering column is at a good height. The grips don't seem like they'll come off, either. The board isn't slippery, the brakes are responsive, and the wheels seem to have good traction. The wheels also don't seem to have issues with roads covered in goat-heads (which is nice, because those spiky things have ruined many bike tires for me).
All in all, it's a pretty good scooter to ride. I do wish the throttle curve felt a bit smoother, but overall it's really decent quality with enough range and power to get me around town easily. This isn't a bad machine by any means, and I would feel pretty confident about recommending it.

The Hoover, H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter came well packaged solidly packed inside minimal Styrofoam inside a double walled box. Inside the box I found the scooter, instruction manuals, some extra screws and an Allen wrench for assembly. Unboxing and assembly took less than 20 minutes, but the included battery needed to be charged before I could ride so I wheeled the scooter inside and plugged it into the charger. 1 thing that would be really nice for the next version would be removable batteries. I'd like the ability to carry a spare battery with me so if I run out of charge, I could just swap in the new battery and know I had enough juice to get back home again. 20 MPH feels super fast on this scooter, but I have another scooter that goes a little faster and it feels smoother. The tires on this scooter have a harsh feeling ride, even though this scooter has a full suspension. 20 MPH was fast enough to just barely outrun the little dog that was chasing me down the block though, even if the scooter doesn't feel as stable as I would like. The included lights are more for other people being able to see the scooter, and not really good enough to actually use at night to see, I would recommend wearing a nice head light if you're planning on night riding. The brakes do a decent job of hauling the scooter down to a stop, but they could be better... I wouldn't count on them in a panic stop... definitely plan your stops ahead of time and leave enough room. I absolutely love the folding handlebar! It's easily folded over, but super solid when locked into place. It also has a hook that snaps into the rear fender and locks in place and it's strong enough that I could pick the whole scooter up by the bar and easily carry it around. Unfortunately the handbar grips still stick out to the sides when it's folded up. It would've been nice if the grips spun to the front back orientation so the whole folded scooter was nice and skinny. Maybe in the next version. Overall though this is one awesome scooter, with decent power and speed, a cool dashboard information display, and lots of nice features. It's rated to hold up to 264 lbs, which is right at what I weigh, and it carried me around with no issues at all. If you're in the market for a decent electric scooter, the H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter is one I can easily recommend.

The H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter w/24 mi Max Operating Range & 20 mph Max Speed – Black is a durable and well constructed scooter that provides the necessary options for me to travel short trips from home, in my large city. The tires are hard enough to drive on the hard cement streets of my city while providing great traction for maneuvering and stopping on a dime. The front and rear brakes work instantaneously. It only took a few minutes to get the H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter w/24 mi Max Operating Range & 20 mph Max Speed – Black up and running. I only had to screw in four screws to attach the handlebar assembly, charge the battery, install the Hover-1- E- Mobility app and then pair the LED display with my phone. The Hover-1- E- Mobility app can duplicate the manual commands on the LED display, but can also lock the H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter w/24 mi Max Operating Range & 20 mph Max Speed – Black from operating, as a security feature. After practicing on pedestrian mode for a while, I developed enough control to advance to the other three speed modes. Now, I can take short trips from home using my H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter w/24 mi Max Operating Range & 20 mph Max Speed – Black and return back quickly. It definitely is a time saver.

Great looking scooter with a premium build

Electric scooters have suddenly become a big thing. In our town, electric scooters by Bird are scattered all over the place, and I’m often passed by them as I run on our “rails to trails” bike path. Recently, I saw some guys zipping down one of the roads downtown, and I thought it looked like fun, so I took the leap and got the Hover-1 Pro Boss R500. I didn’t do a lot of research into the many models of electric scooters available today, but when this one became available to me as a member of the Best Buy Technical Insiders program, I jumped at the chance to pick one up.
The R500 arrived in a very nice-looking box and was well protected inside. The scooter is almost fully assembled, with the exception of putting the handlebar assembly into the steering column. This is done by pushing the wiring into the column and inserting the handlebar assembly, then fastening it with the included screws. Hover-1 does include a pair of hex keys for this purpose, but I found it much easier to use my own hex tool so that I could get more torque. After tightening the 4 screws (extras included), I was ready to go.
The R500 is a very nice-looking scooter, with a matte black finish and silver/white lettering on the model I got. It has a maximum weight capacity of 264 lbs, which thankfully leaves me with plenty of room to spare. The 10-inch wheels are very solid and feature a disc brake in the rear, and I think maybe a drum brake in the front. There’s an LED front headlight and a red taillight in back. At the head of the steering column is the LED display, which includes the odometer, speedometer, mode, and battery meter. All of this is controlled by the single power button, by which multiple presses allow you to control things like lights, cruise control, etc.
The steering column folds down and locks in place with a hook so you can pick it up and carry it. Carrying is certainly possible, but you won’t want to do that for long, as the R500 weighs in at 47 pounds. I suppose that’s partly due to the size of the battery, since the R500 has a stated range of up to 24 miles and a top speed of 20 mph. There are 4 modes, selectable by toggling the power button:
• Pedestrian mode (0-3 mph)
• Eco mode (0-9 mph)
• Drive mode (0-15 mph)
• Sport mode (0-20 mph)
Out of the box, you are not able to start the scooter by simply pressing the throttle. That’s because the R500 is designed to accelerate only after you’ve kick-started it moving like you would on a non-motorized scooter. This is for safety reasons, but you can turn this off in the app (more on the app in a moment). The R500 features a powerful 500W motor, and you can really feel it. I had plenty of power to go right up the small hill near my house, and it was easy to reach 20 mph on a flat road. You can still feel the bumps, but it’s a pretty smooth ride, and it’s easy to forget that you’re actually going 20 miles per hour. If you want to lock in your speed, you can turn on cruise control and save your thumb from having to hold the throttle down constantly. For riding at night, the light provides plenty of illumination, but I would have liked for Hover-1 to include a better LED headlight. Nonetheless, it gets the job done, and oncoming traffic can easily see you coming. The brakes are responsive without being twitchy, and I never felt like I was going to be thrown off the scooter in a sudden stop.
Hover-1 also provides a smart phone app. The app allows you to control all of the functions that you can control on the LED display, and even a little more, such as turning on the front and rear lights independently or enabling “throttle to start”. The most important function of the app, in my opinion, is the ability to lock the scooter. This would prevent someone from just jumping on it and taking off, but of course you’ll need a lock to prevent someone from picking it up. A nice feature is that the app alerts you if the scooter is moved while still locked, which would presumably indicate someone is attempting to steal it. I was amused when the app told me that my car was moving. Depending on how you’re using the scooter, I guess it could be your car!
Whie I’ve only had the R500 for several days, I’m very pleased with it so far. It’s easy to just hop on the scooter and take off, and it’s a very pleasant way to navigate a town. It’s deceptively fast, and has plenty of power for going up a small grade. It has shock absorbers for both front and rear, making for a smooth ride, although I don’t think I’d recommend any off-roading on this one. For urban commuting or joy-riding, I think the R500 is more than up to the challenge. The key with things like this is longevity, so if the R500 can stand the test of time, I’ve got a winner!

I was looking for a scooter that will safely handle my weight at 6'5" and 250Lbs, so the search lead me to scooters in the $1000+ range with dual motors etc. The Hover 1 Boss is a very prosumer looking scooter, yet manages to be a bit more affordable than the aforementioned products and easily manages weight up to 264Lbs.
Upon receiving, I only had to attach the handlebars with 4 hex screws (additional set included just in case) and feed the power cable through the shaft. I liked the simplistic layout of the embedded screen. and how it conforms to the shape of the handlebars rather than attached on top like a lot of scooters have. The single button controls power, riding modes, and lights while the lever controls activation of the motor. The Boss is solid and well made, right down to the double lock hinge. I like that the wheels are tubeless with an internal honeycomb structure that doesn't need air thus preventing flats yet remains forgiving over small bumps. For larger bumps, the Boss is equipped with front fork suspension and rear dual shocks that makes riding over sidewalk bumps and driveway aprons almost seamless. There are 4 riding modes to choose from depending on your skill level or situation. The lowest: Pedestrian, limits to 3mph and turns on the headlight for safety while riding among crowds of people walking near you. Eco mode limits you to 9mph for short distances with potential obstacles or indoor use. Drive mode allows you to ride up to a respectable 15mph; while Sport mode opens it up to the full 20mph, more than most scooters in this category.
Riding the scooter was quite easy, though surprised that the throttle is not incremental as I would've expected from a lever, a button would've sufficed. The 800W peak motor did pull satisfyingly in any mode and reached the full speed quickly with a 250Lb load. The rear disc and front drum brakes squeal rather loudly (needs to be broken in) but smoothly and securely stops with no stuttering. The handle bars stand at about 4ft together with the wide deck make it comfortable for me at 6'5" to balance on. The box and pictures of the scooter show blue lights illuminating the deck, so I assumed it was a cool feature, but it's just advertising. The cute mechanical bell rings loud enough for pedestrians to hear which is probably the only way you're going to use it. Both headlight and taillight are blazingly bright, not only giving you nighttime visibility, but making you visible to traffic. While folding the scooter, it locks securely to the base just above the rear wheel and can be picked up (be careful, heavy) without issue. The manual says it charges in 6.5hrs, but it took me only 5hrs to full from 20%. The Hover 1 mobility app allows you to see the battery level in more detail. It also uniquely lets you lock the scooter to prevent others from using it and share a code with others with the app to unlock it. You could also activate either headlights or taillights separately for whatever reason. You can get a gps readout of your distance to gauge whether you have enough battery at the end to make it back.
I think the Boss is a great scooter commuter and not just for the last mile. I trunk it, use free car chargers where I can and take this out to get to where I need to be until the car is ready. Works like a charm.

This review is for the H-1 Pro series Boss R500 electric scooter.
Lets start with the unboxing and setup. I thought I read this would take 30 minutes. So that's what I planned for. But after opening I found it was really only 4 bolts that you had to install and tighten down with the supplied allen wrench. So from unboxing to finished was less than 10 minutes. Super easy and straight forward.
Design and Build Quality:
The Boss R500 is a sleek and modern electric scooter. Its foldable design makes it incredibly convenient for commuters, allowing for easy storage and portability. The scooter is crafted with high-quality materials, ensuring durability and longevity. I do wish it sat a little higher off the ground. I find I bottom out a lot when transitioning from the road to driveways/sidewalks.
Performance and Power:
Equipped with a powerful electric motor, the H-1 Pro Series delivers an exhilarating ride. Its powerful acceleration ensures swift navigation through city streets, And it's battery provides an impressive range of up to 24 mile. This electric scooter boasts a top speed of 20 mph. And I was able to hit that.(and I'm no small man.5'11" and 230lbs) I was very impressed with this. The scooter's motor operates silently, contributing to a peaceful and pleasant ride for both the rider and pedestrians.
One of the standout features of the H-1 Pro Series - Boss R500 is its foldability. The scooter can be easily folded and unfolded within seconds, making it convenient to carry on public transport or store in compact spaces. Its lightweight design further facilitates effortless maneuverability. The LED display provides essential information such as battery life and speed, keeping riders informed at all times.
I have been play with this scooter now for 4 or 5 days and I'm still on the first change. It also has a front face headlight that works great for lighting up your path and just makes you more visible to others. I haven't downloaded the app just yet so I can't speak on that.
All in all I have been super happy with this scooter.
