It’s a great go kart BUT…

It was easy to put the kart together as a whole. However, I had to put some muscle into pushing the foot rest frame into the seat frame. That proved to be a bit difficult as the fittings were extremely tight even though the lockers were loose. I’m afraid of what it will look like when we have to extend the foot bars since I could see, hear and feel every bit of paint slowly peel away and drop to the floor. I can rest easy knowing that because the connections are so tight that it’s not breaking apart in the near nor distant future.
The hoverboard is very small and basic. The size is great for smaller/younger kids. It doesn’t take long to fully charge. I highly recommend balancing it prior to using as it will take off in every which direction if that important step is overlooked. The hover board works ok on its own after balancing. Our kids are great on their hoverboards that are slightly bigger than this particular one, and this one was not as comfortable for them. I’m assuming that it was due to it having a smaller profile and how sensitive it is.
When the hover board is attached to the kart, it becomes a slight learning curve. Our kids (5 and 8) had a hard time controlling this particular hoverboard. After balancing it, it was easier to get on and off, but it would not always go where they were directing it when attached to the go-kart. It was like a runaway kart. My 5 yo decided she would no longer use it with the hoverboard it came with because of its inability to control while attached to kart. So we decided to attach their other hoverboards and it went so much smoother.
That’s what’s so great about the Go-kart. It’s universal to other hoverboards, as long as, the wheels fit between the pedal mounts. They were able to handle the Go-kart like pro’s afterwards.
I think that if it’s your small child’s first hoverboard than this would fit the bill since they would be able to learn how to hoverboard using this smaller unit, as well as, use the kart for further fun. If your child is experienced on a hover board and this one doesn’t make them feel comfortable, use theirs. We wanted to see if our adult sized hover board would fit. It would but not without causing some cosmetic scratches. So that ended the thought of us being able to join in on the fun.
We recommend this as a whole but we give the go kart a 5 for strength, durability, ease of use, and it’s universal fit for other hoverboards. We give the “balanced” hoverboard a 3 for our kids experience, since it’s a runaway board for them and they don’t feel 100% comfortable using this one, once attached to the kart.

I’ve been a little late to the Hoverboard craze, but jumped at the chance to get this for my niece and nephew. This particular Hover-1 Kart Combo is designed for use by smaller children, while using the same type of hoverboard to power the kart.
In the box you’ll find the hoverboard, a wall charger, the kart in various pieces, some hardware for assembly, Velcro straps (a couple of extra), extra foam pads, a flag and holder, a couple of manuals for assembly, and manual for the hoverboard. The hoverboard did require charging, so I went ahead and used the included charger, plugged it into the board, and left it standing on it’s side (on the wheel). The charger itself (the brick) has an LED that goes from Red to Green, and is the only indicator I could find to understand the charging status. It did take about 3 hours to charge enough for use. If the battery is dead, the red light on the board flashes and it plays a loud audible tone.
Assembly of the kart accessory does require the use of the included tools and with some help, took about 40 minutes to get done. However, I’d recommend having a decent multitool to help with tightening the bolts and really reading the assembly instructions, as the visual illustrations don’t show every step. I did get some help from my brother with assembly, which made it much easier. The seat itself is a tough plastic, and is held on with 4 screws. There are two handle bars, with one on either side, to use for grip and stability, and a foot rest which can be adjusted for preferred length (mind you for a small child). The kart isn’t designed to comfortably seat an adult, as the manual/packaging points out an 80 lb limit, and you’ll notice a degraded experience if an adult attempts to use the kart.
After assembly, the hoverboard simply attaches under the seat using the velcro straps. There are some foam pads already attached that help with stability of the board. The benefit of using this Kart combo, is not having to worry about needing to balance to ride it. It does use some balance shifting to detect when to move, so make sure the hoverboard is properly attached to the kart before use. My nephew was excited to use this, and took him maybe 5 minutes to understand how to move forward, and took him a few more minutes to figure out how to turn slightly. Since the speed tops out around 5 mph (probably a little slower depending on environment), you should definitely get ready to chase your child down the street at a nice pace.
The hoverboard itself is similar to Hover-1’s other boards, having 2 LED lights on the front, a power button and charging port on the bottom, and some hard plastic wheels. It will work without the kart like a normal hoverboard. I wouldn’t recommend trying to use this on dirt or gravel, as you’ll find the hoverboard can’t really push itself well on anything other than smooth terrain. I didn’t notice the board overheat, even in 100 degree weather; probably because it’s underneath the kart. The battery lasted maybe 45 minutes before reminding you it needs to charge. Like other battery powered devices, I’d recommend charging this out of reach of small kids. I’d also recommend picking up a helmet if you’re worried about your child falling off the kart.

My grandson has never had a hoverboard and is not the most "adventurous" child so I thought this would be a fun way for him to ride around. It was not quite what I expected. He does love the hoverboard and has gotten quite good on just that alone without the cart. When he tries the cart, he feels like he can't stop and I have to chase after him and turn off the hoverboard. We tried this several times and each time he pulled back on the handles to stop but it did not stop. We will continue to try and see if we are doing something wrong.
He does love just the hoverboard though and can zip around on that. So far he just sticks to the carpeted hallway where he can hold on to the wall if needed. As he gets more comfortable, he will move to more open spaces.
We had some issues with the directions and charging. According to the directions, when plugged in, the light on the hoverboard should be yellow. When actually plugged in, there is no light on the hoverboard. We gave it time and charged it until the red light on the charger turned green.
I don't know how long hoverboards should last after being fully charged but we don't get very long out of this one. Maybe an hour of actual riding (not all at the same time) and then it starts beeping that it needs to be charged again.
I had higher hopes that this cart would be more fun for my grandson- I am not sure why it does not stop when following the directions to pull back on the handles. We will keep trying to see if we are doing something wrong.

Hover-1 My First Hoverboard Combo - Black
I got this hoverboard combo for my grandson. He lives a little more than an hour from me and when I told him over the phone he jumped at the chance to spend the weekend with us.
He got to our place on a Friday night too late to do anything with it. But he was up bright and early on Saturday eager to try it out.
I charge it before he got here so it was ready to go. He ran it up and down the sidewalk in front of our house for most of the morning and finally took a break for lunch. At that time I recharged the hoverboard while we ate. It was getting a little hot in the afternoon so he accepted an offer to go swimming at the neighbor's pool. As soon as he got home, he wanted to ride again. We took the hoverboard up to the school parking lot after dinner and he rode up there until it got dark. He had a lot more room up and there and he was laughing and smiling the whole time.
He also rode quite a bit Sunday afternoon until it was time for him to go home. I intended to keep the hoverboard here at the house - but this is my grandson. So we allowed him to take it home and his dad tells me he is on it everyday. So overall I would say the stamp of approval came from my grandson. I think he would give it 5 stars.
The weight limit is 80 pounds so he should get use out of it for a few years. The top speed is 5 miles and hour and the battery seems to last almost 2 hours.

Purchased one for my son for Christmas. Shipping was delayed. Received after Christmas, didnt work. So i exhanged it for a new one, finally arrived and didnt work either. Firt one would only turn on if it was connected to the charger. The second one never turned on even though the charger light was green as if it was charged all the way. Had multiple people look at it ans read the manual too just to make sure we were doing it right.

Really cool - for the right kid

I really, really wanted to love the Hover-1 My First Hoverboard combo. I received my review sample just after a rough couple weeks for my twin boys - they had just finished recovering from getting their tonsils out, so getting a 'go kart' and hoverboard had them super excited. In some ways the product met our expectations, but there were also some letdowns.
First, the good: the Hover-1 My First Hoverboard itself is great. With a weight limit of 80 lbs and a top speed of 5 mph, the My First Hoverboard keeps the fun bracketed into a kid friendly package. Definitely recommend some knee and elbow protectors to go along with an absolutely required helmet. Although the top speed isn't mind blowing, it still moves pretty quickly ESPECIALLY when turning - more on that later. If your kid has been clamoring for a hoverboard, this is a great into product. The buggy frame is also very sturdy. The chair is small, but I actually sat in the thing and drove it up and down the driveway to show my kids what to do, and I'm waaaaaaaay over the weight limit. The hoverboard couldn't move very quickly but the frame itself was solid as a rock. The length is adjustable from kid sizes to much larger, and does so easily.
The bad: neither of my kids could get the hang of driving the buggy, and it's really hard to demo it for your kids unless you have someone who is closer to the weight limit. Pretty much every attempt with the boys turned into a rapid spin-out, and even with the extra weight of the 'kart' this thing spins FAST. It clipped my wife's angle when she was trying to reach in and help one of the boys and it gave her a pretty good whack (but no lasting injury!). Eventually, the best either of our boys could do was drive up and down the driveway a few times, but they were both so nervous about the rapid spinning that we haven't used the cart after this first night. Re-calibrating the hoverboard didn't seem to have much effect when in cart mode (but it worked perfectly fine when just using the hoverboard part). Also, the charging is pretty slow. It takes up to 5 hours to charge the relatively small 6 cell LiPO battery.
I'm sure my primary issues with the cart experience are attributable to my kids' lack of experience with the device and us not having an older child to model the right driving actions for them - If your kids are a bit more into sit on riding toys, they will probably be able to get the hang of it more quickly. The hoverboard itself is great and on its own can lead to hours of fun for kids, it's just the cart part that isn't perfect. And watch your ankles when that thing gets to spnning!

My 5 year old nephew LOVES this! (Adults too!)

I got this primarily for my nephew who just turned 5. He’s at the age where he’s obsessed with superheroes and as soon as he saw this, he thought he had his very own Batmobile! A few Batman stickers later, and he was zooming about the neighborhood in his Batman pajamas on his very own batmobile! Assembly was fairly straightforward and took little time. Needed a few hours to charge, and once it was fully charged it’s ready to zip! It’s perfectly sized for small children but even adults can scrunch themselves on it. Gives you the feeling of Mario Kart as you zip around the cul de sac. I’m certain he’ll get many years of enjoyment from this as he grows and it transitions from a go cart to a hoverboard. I’m not sure how easy replacement batteries are to find, but I’m sure there are options out there.
Overall, this is an extremely affordable vehicle for that bundle of energy in your life. Just make sure safety is addressed and get a helmet and pads. 7 mph may not sound like it’s very fast, but it’s enough to cause a good scraped elbow or bruise if the kiddo takes a curb wrong.
Very good construction and materials, charge lasts longer than the average kids’ attention spans, and adults can even use it while the kids are down for naps! Highly recommended!

Assembly-
Immediately charge the Hoverboard with the included wall charger. The red indicator light on the charger shows it's still charging and green means it's done. The hoverboard battery indicator will show green for fully charged, yelllow for charging and flashing red and beeping when the battery is low. It takes about 5 hours to fully charge. The instructions to assemble the Hover 1 Go-Kart was very clear and easy to follow. There's only a few steps and it didn't very long to put together. Once assembled, installing the Hover-1 Go-Kart and Hoverboard scooter are also fairly easy to do with the detailed manual.
Operating-
To use the Hoverboard, press the power button that is located on the back to turn it on. Press again once to turn it off. There are four sensors under the foot mats to control the speed and direction. From behind, carefully step onto the Hoverboard quickly and stand with your weight evenly distributed on the foot mats. Your center of gravity dictates what direction you move, accelerate, slow down or stop. You need to tilt in the direction you wish to move. Always remember to always dismount when the Hoverboard is completely stopped.
The Hoverboard is really fun for the kids. I wish the battery lasted longer. The kids get impatient and don't always let it full charge throughout the day, obviously only at night. We had some problems with the first Hoverboard that was sent with the GoKart. It never charged properly. I was impressed with the prompt responses I received from Hover-1 and they sent me a replacement. The process did take a couple months and now the new Hoverboard does not work with the KoKart so I can't speak to that part. But overall, we're happy with the Hoverboard. The kids love it because it's super fun to play with.

I may have rated this lower if I hadn't gotten as much of a chance to play around with this with the kiddos. This thing has a bit of a learning curve and could be very unsafe without an adult around, so be careful with younger kids. I recommend an adult ride it first, get the hang of it, then start the kids on it slowly. The instructions for assembly and ease of assembly were both excellent. Put it together in a few minutes and charged the business portion overnight. The hover board itself can be a little tricky at first, as I'm sure most people might know. This was our first hover board, and we couldn't get it to operate normally the first few times we tried. I had to reach out to support, who provided a walkthrough to reset. I would advise you get the hang of the hover board alone before you graduate to the cart feature. Once we got the thing calibrated to properly drive and steer, we put the board under the cart according to the instructions. It is slightly counterintuitive. You pull back to decelerate/reverse each side and push forward to go forward. The major issue I had with this unit is that there are no brakes. You stop by slowing it and when you're about to crash into a curb or other obstruction, instinct is the opposite of what you need to do and you may be tempted to put your feet down. You definitely don't want to put your feet down as it can run you over. I'm a tall, average weight adult and was able to ride it, though it is a little slow for me. My kids cruise on this thing. I had to go over with them several times about not feet braking, but once they got the hang of steering, acceleration, deceleration, they've had loads of fun in the culdesac. We're not quite ready for hills, but once we are, I suspect this will be one of their favorite toys.

Great 1st Hoverboard for 5-6 year olds

Unboxing and assembly was easy, as well as the included instructions to follow. Less than 20 minutes to assemble, the amount of time to fully charge took forever especially when you are waiting to try it out. The cool thing was the combo - hoverboard and the go kart attachment allows you the flexibility to sit or stand.
Living in a cul de sac allowed me and my nephews (7 and 11yo) to really test it out. It took 5 minutes to figure out how to use the handles and how to go right and left and backwards. So to go left you had to push down on the right handle and to go right you had to push down on the left handle. To go backwards you had to lift up both handles to go straight back. After figuring out how to maneuver, we tested how fast we can go. It clocked at 5mph max so it is great for young kids learning to use a hoverboard for the first time. The cool thing about this it that it attachment can fit 6-8 inch Hoverboards and some 10 inch which is a cool thing because you use this for the first time rider and then attach to a faster Hoverboard. So the Hoverboard that came with this kit is maxed at 5mph but you can use the attachment on the faster Hoverboards so you dont have to buy another attachment.
The cool part was the number of tricks they were able to do, such as wheelies and 360s they had so much fun because they were lighter. Weight does impact the speed and tricks you can do and because it maxes out at 5mph the 360 are OK unless you start on a hill.
Overall, this is a good purchase as a First Hoverboard for kids 5-6 years old because the speed maxes out at 5mph is will allow them to get use to the handling and provides flexibility for standing or sitting. I think the battery life is ok but not sure if weight plays into how quickly it drained. That is why I gave it 3 stars because as a kid the amount of time to wait for the Hoverboard to fully charge is a lifetime. The kart attachment is key because of the adjustments and 80lb capacity.
