If the Pixel is too expensive and the $200 - $300 Chromebooks feel too cheap then this might be exactly what you're looking for. Super fast processor (the Core M3 and 4gb or RAM fly on this device), great keyboard, good trackpad, decent speakers, and one of the best displays you'll find on any laptop, not to mention a beautiful and sturdy build quality lacking on most Chromebooks, this deserves to be the Pixel's little brother.
My only true criticisms are the speakers are only okay, not great, and the battery life is nowhere near what HP claims. 6 - 7 hours is far more realistic. But overall this is my perfect Chromebook. Fast, great build, and amazing display. I have no need for a touchscreen, even when Chrome OS gets Android apps, so that wasn't an issue for me.

**Only owned for 1 day so far**
This thing, is light and fast (Octane score is 22-23,000. It has USB-C charging (the future) and has a great backlit keyboard and trackpad. It also appears to have a decent palm detection algorithm while typing and doesn't erratically ghost touch.
However, the bottom edges are unfinished and cut into your hand when you pick it up. Feels like a cut is bound to happen soon. We are going to try to exchange for another one, if not we will have to return it even though it is amazing!
I was worried the M3 wouldn't be enough and that we may have needed to get the M5 or M7, but the M3 is snappy fast and this is a pleasure to use. The other Chromebook we purchased initially, an ASUS 2 in 1 10" was a joke compared to this and the ASUS 2 in 1 gives Chromebooks a bad name, it was just soo slow.
PROS
- USB-C charging (2 ports, both take a charge)
- Light
- Sexy
- High resolution display
- Backlit keyboard
- ChromeOS gestures work nicely (three finger swipe down to show all windows etc)
CONS
- Very sharp bottom edges, literally close to knife. I think it was an "oops, we forgot to sand that one" and we are going to return it and hopefully get another one.
- Hooking up a USB-C to HDMI dongle to our 1080p Toshiba results in a grainy, unviewable display UNTIL I move a window onto it and start trying to use it. Was not easy to figure that out initially, that is a bug I reported to the ChromeOS team already.
- Webcam is poor/grainy in low light, could have put a Logitech c920 in there instead
- No touch screen, I am spoiled by touch screens, all Chromebooks should have a touch screen
- Built in camera app cannot use an external webcam

This computer is exactly what I was looking for. I had wanted a Chromebook that came with backlit keys (there aren't many of them out there that do, unless you want to pay a lot more money). But this computer offers so much more than what I was expecting. It's small enough to carry around with me and powerful enough to do what I need to do (emails, website building, and writing). I'm glad I went with the Core m3 processor. It's much better than the processor just below this one. The sound works great as well. I also like the glossiness and sharpness of the screen. People have commented on the track pad being a bit flimsy, and I can see that being the case. But everything else is fantastic. It reminds me of a much cheaper MacBook Air (in price; not necessarily in quality).

Purchased for general web browsing, emails, you tube etc. I like electronics that look good and are easy to carry around. I have no need for the power of a Mac or Windows machine and this Chromebook, with its thin profile, light weight and capable processor does all I need. Glad I bought it. Looking forward to the availability of the entire Google app lineup

Hp has really poor quality control on this. The first unit I received, speaker is out-of-order upon receiving. The second unit I received, hinge is not lined flush. Apart from that, the battery life is not great though it is not bad. I ends up switching to dell 13.

The screen sells it

Nowhere else right now will you find as nice a screen on a Chromebook for under $1,000. The metal case, ultra thin lightweight form factor, and backlit keyboard add a lot to make this feel like a luxury tool, not a disposable toy (like some entry Chormebooks). I rated this 4 stars because I think the keyboard and trackpad could be a little nicer, and I'm stingy with issuing a 5-star review.
The m3 processor seems plenty good for what it needs to do. A test of 4K streaming video did get a little jumpy at times, but I'm not sure if that was the system or the WiFi not being able to keep up.
