Everything I need and nothing I don’t! All I need is the internet and basic word processing stuff and I don’t want a ton of stuff I would never use and this fits the bill.

Easy operation. Simple set up. I was interested in an economical solution for journaling on Word. Basic budgeting on Excel. The price was perfect for the uses I needed it for. Pleased.

Very functional and great for the price. I purchased this chrome book to take care of my basic online needs without wanting to break the bank and it’s been good for me so far.

This HP 14 laptop is nicely constructed with reusable recycled materials, it is extremely light and portable. It has a 14 inch HD LED non-touch screen, two USB-A, 1 USB-C, HDMI 1.4, SD card slot, and a headphone/microphone jack. The device is powered by an Intel processor N150, 4GB of ram and it has 128GB UFS (Universal Flash Storage), it supports Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6
This laptop runs on Windows, setting it up is very simple with simply using a Microsoft email account. Initially after completing Windows OS installation, it installed the Windows S mode which only supported apps within the Windows app store. However, you can get out of the S mode and install non Windows store apps like the one you download from the web but you won't be able to go back to Windows S at least not in this machine. Windows S was a new one for me as most of the apps I install are mostly from the developer’s website.
The machine runs pretty quick not snappy fast as more expensive powerful counterparts but for the most part it is pretty smooth. I did encounter some lag during multitasking. The keyboard felt good to type on and the palm rest felt comfortable. The keyboard is not backlit so typing in the dark may be a challenge. However, the silver color and the screen's reflection make the keys easily visible. The keyboard also included the Microsoft Co-Pilot button. The touch pad was responsive and soft, my fingers slid with ease and it supported multi fingers gestures.
The screen is decent overall—it's very bright, but the colors appear somewhat washed out and lack vibrancy. I found the best viewing angle by tilting the screen slightly backward. It does not support HDR, and its resolution is slightly above 720p. However, when connected to a 4K compatible monitor or TV via HDMI, it delivers stunning 4K visuals at 60Hz. The stereo speakers, while not particularly loud, produce decent sound quality.
As for battery life, the manufacturer claims up to 11 hours of runtime, which is more than sufficient for a full workday. In my experience, battery performance was excellent. The device remained cool during use and lasted over three days with intermittent use and standby.
Overall, this is not a premium HP device but offers great value at a low price. It’s portable, lightweight, and has excellent battery life, along with features like Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6. Although the internal screen is not the best, it delivers stunning visuals when connected to an external 4K display. The 720p HD front camera performs well for video calls but takes average photos. Storage is limited, with almost half taken up by the operating system, but expansion is easy with the additional USB and SD card ports. In the box you’ll get the laptop, charging power brick and manual.

Excellent WINDOWS laptop perfect for students!

The specs couldn't be more perfect for a student that wants the windows experience rather than the alternative that's out there for the type of money you're spending on this (Value!)
Want to start off by saying the 14 inch form factor is very convenient, not too small, not too big and is a very light design. They give you a large variety of ports on this machine even with its size which is impressive including, an audio combo jack, USB-C port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port and of course the power barrel plug.
The speakers get plenty loud enough which is always great to see on a 14” model and the screen is excellent resolution for the size as well. It gets fairly bright too which is all too uncommon these days.
Battery life is really good on this as its got the intel N150 processor which is essentially all energy efficient core design to provide the best experience for something like this. There is a lot of these out using this chip that do not have a fan however this one does include a fan allowing you to take advantage of its speed without being throttled to a crawl.
This machine comes with windows 11 home which is in S-mode. If you are unfamiliar with what S mode is, it's essentially the computer being used inside of the Microsoft ecosystem as a whole. This means you can download any verified apps from the Microsoft Store, use edge browser, Outlook, the entire Office suite all the usual players here you’ve come to love. What this also means is that if you're giving this to a student they will be safe from any sort of virus or problems because everything is verified.
Now, if that's something that you're not interested in you may very well just turn off S mode and return to a standard version of Windows 11 if you go through this process with your Microsoft account in the settings. If you do this it works like any other windows PC but without the added protections that Microsoft provides while in S-mode.
That said this does everything that it needs to do and more and the fact that you get full windows on this and not a water down operating system like some competitors makes this all the better value. It's honestly hard to believe you can even buy a Windows laptop at this price point today but here it is!

Now we have a great versatile and secured laptop

We got this laptop for our kid that is still in school and about to go to college this fall, so having this laptop is the best way to go for several reasons.
The HP Laptop arrived well packaged and right out of the box, it looks great, and it is compact as well as lightweight yet powerful.
We like that this laptop comes with Microsoft Windows 11 in S Mode. To us it means faster, better protected and runs smoothly.
Setting up the computer is easy and it can be done while charging it.
We also like that it has Microsoft Copilot, so with AI as an assistant is very helpful on everyday tasks as well as getting help with different types of projects.
As for speed, it is very fast and best of all it can multitask easily without slowing down and it is very quiet too.
As for the screen, it is antiglare and brings out vivid colors from both photos and videos and everything in between and it does not have that shinny reflection on the screen.
The battery life was a necessity and this laptop exels in the battery life, not only does it charge fast, it lasts a very long time.
I do like that it does have Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6 so it is fast and secured, we can connect earbuds, as well as wireless speakers and it does it well.
And when listening to music or podcasts from its speakers, it sounds good.
We tested the laptop on a video call and it worked well both using earbuds and also the laptop on its own, since it does have an HD camera and good noise reduction technology, both ends can enjoy a good quality video as well as sound.
As for ports, it comes with the most used ones; multi format SD card reader is a big plus since our kid likes to take pictures, uploading them to the laptop is easy, either via Bluetooth or with this card reader.
It does come with headphone/microphone combo in case you want to use them via wired, and they can be connected wirelessly too. It comes with two USB A and one USB C so it is good, I did wish it was the other way around, two USB C and one USB A. And if we want to connect another screen, it can be connected using the HDMI.
Overall, it is a versatile laptop that brings security, as well as a great battery life for everyday use.
It only weights 3.24lbs and it is .71 inches thin and it boots up fast. Lastly it is a good HP laptop that is versatile, secured and ready to take on everyday tasks.

HP 14-dq6011dx Laptop : 14" Laptop - Intel Processor - 4GB Memory - 128GB UFS, I love how super light weight and thin this HP laptop is. the light Matt silver color is also nice. Matt screen makes it easier to work in bright locations no glare on the screen is amazing! It does have AI assistance I have not used it cause AI is not my thing so not able to really say how well that works. Battery life says about 11 hours I haven’t charged in a about two weeks but I also only on my laptop about one to two hours a day to finish some work once I get home, I spend more time on a desktop so it’s lasted along time. When I first opened the box there was no charge but within about 20 mins it already had enough charge to power up and start the set up process it actually charges really fast compared to my previous laptop which is a plus. The mouse pad and keys are not soft keys so they are a little loud like old school keyboards I kinda like the typing sounds but not late at night when others in my house are asleep. It has Windows 11 already pre installed, when I started up my laptop it did need to do some updates which is expected it took about 25-30 mins I feel like to finish might have been less. Intel core processor helps with the graphics, multitasking. Graphics are good for a simple laptop not super fancy but gets the job done. It has two USB slots, headphone jack, one HDMI, one C slot & SD card slot which I’m happy about cause my last laptop did not have SD slot which I didn’t pay attention to when I got it. I love how easy you can organize everything to your liking and how easy it was drank and drop to create folders, pin to task bar etc. the screen is the perfect edge to edge size no gapping. The speakers have a nice loud and clear volume and low is also clear. Also it is green friendly made with recycled materials if you really care. I love this budget entry level laptop it’s works for the basics I need it for.

Great Value, but no USB charging

Can Microsoft still perform with under powered specs? What does that even mean? HP’s 14” laptop cuts some corners, but not many, to drive a low price. It does not support USB-C charging, which could be a deal breaker.
Compared to my work laptop, the screen on this is lower resolution. This makes the text larger, icons larger, and all of it less sharp. The keyboard is a little squishy, but still has nice spacing. There’s no back light, so you’ll have a little challenge if it’s darker in your work space. It feels like it’s about the same weight, but it’s thicker. The case is plastic instead of aluminum or some space age material. Battery life has been great so far, with several hours of web application usage. It includes WiFi 6 support for decently fast speeds. While in the same room as my router, it maxed out at my ISP speed. Upstairs, it showed some drop off compared to my phones which have WiFi 7.
What does this mean when using the machine for Office apps and school projects? First, be aware that this has Windows S mode enabled by default. Windows S ensures high performance by limiting what you can install to those apps in the Microsoft store. Even common apps like Zoom and Audacity are locked out. This mode can easily be disabled, but it’s a one way street. After disabling, I didn’t notice much of a performance difference as long as I stayed with a single app. With more applications open, the machine is definitely slower than my work machine. Switching apps is less smooth and leaves a black screen in some cases for a few seconds. Everything catches up eventually, but it’s a reminder that cost cutting comes at a price.
In the end, it’s a price which I think is worth paying to get a Windows machine around $200 new. It’s less than many used machines and still comes with a fast SSD and full support for current software. This machine is a way to get a Windows machine at a Chromebook price. It provides all the advantages of Windows, including a 1 year subscription to the MS Office suite, which is half the cost of the machine. After exiting S mode, Chrome can be installed, though I personally prefer Edge as it’s less bloated and doesn’t track your movements across the web to sell advertising. The versatility of Windows is still unbeaten.
My biggest complaint and enough to make me not recommend this is lack fo USB-C charging. It has a USB-C port, along with HDMI output which will drive a high resolution screen. However, it will not accept a charge through the port. As it only requires a 65-Watt power support, this oversight is a bit inexplicable. Every laptop I’ve owned in the past 4 years has accepted a USB-C charger. This allowed for use in the car as well as sharing a charger when the family is on vacation. At the very least, it would be nice to have a USB output on the charger block, so I wouldn’t have to carry two chargers with me on vacation (phone & laptop). It unfortunately spoils what’s otherwise a very good value priced option.

Good Rugged Laptop for Light Duty / Travel

PRODUCT Model:14-dq6011dx
REVIEW
The laptop is very rugged while still being lightweight. It should hold up to a fair amount of abuse. It is relatively quick and performed well for everyday tasks like surfing the web or basic MS Office apps. I would have no issue tossing it in a backpack to get some work done or watching movies while traveling especially due to the small size and weight. It is affordable, so I would not panic if something happened to it.
PROs
- Small / Compact Size
- Fast enough for every day task
- Small Power Supply
- Enough internal storage for basic tasks
- (3) High Speed Ports
- Includes Windows 11
- Includes 1 Year Subscription to MS Office Personal
- Trusted Brand Name for Ongoing Support
It is not a touch screen, so you have to use the track pad for scrolling. The keys are not backlit so you will have to use it with decent light. I found the screen / colors washed out and hard on the eye for prolonged use. About 50% of the included storage it taken already by Windows and included apps. This leaves you about 50GB free for small documents. Fortunately with the included USB ports you can easily expand to more external storage.
RECOMMENDATION
I would recommend this for example an affordable travel laptop, or a young student laptop for homework and basic internet.

Very good basic chromebook

If you're looking for a basic, cost effective Chromebook, then this HP Chromebook will hit that mark. It has and does everything anyone would need for basic computing. I have several laptops and Chromebooks and my personal preference is to use Chrome os on all these units. So I'm quite familiar with it. This particular laptop has all the basic functions and inputs that most people, and in particular, I think HP had students in mind for this unit. It has usb-a, HDMI, usb-c and a headphone jack. It even has an SD card reader, which I like but have noticed that most newer laptops has forgone this feature. The laptop itself is snappy and loads most things in a well time manner. It's not going to win any speed races against other computers, but for basic use, it's fine. The keyboard and mouse track are sufficient and didn't give me a feeling of some cheap computers I've ran across. The screen is just ok, and again perfect for basic use. I don't recommend using it in any bright areas because it does wash out. Speakers are good to use in normal environments. For your basic laptop, HP did a good job building a quality unit

The HP 14-dq6 LAPTOP very affordable, lightweight

Weighing less than 5 pounds, it is thin and easy to transport. No fans nor high processor power demands provided all day use. The on-board Solid-State Drive is ample for basic programs and documents. 4 gigs of RAM compliment the lean power demand as does the graphics display whose maximum resolution is 1366 x 768. The display is sharp and easy on the eyes. As with most displays, it can be set to might mode.
The CPU is an INTEL N150/ According to Intel’s website data, the Intel Processor N150 is the slowest mobile processor of the Twin Lake family. Twin Lake is mostly identical to Alder Lake-N, an architecture that will turn 4 this summer, 2025. The N150 is meant for entry-level laptops, tablets and mini-PCs with no fans; it offers 4 Efficient (Gracemont) cores that run at up to 3.6 GHz, but no Performance cores. Compared to the N250, the N150 has a significantly slower iGPU and slightly lower CPU clock speeds.
I like the SD slot on the left wall of the laptop. The right side sports the power connector, two (2) USB-A and one (1) USB-C ports, and a standard headphone/mic jack. Working with the mouse pad is flawless.
I’m not pleased with the keyboard. There are no raised touch points on the all-flat keyboard keys. The keys themselves work well and provide good tactile feedback, are quiet, but I easily get lost as I am not a touch typist. Also, since my vision is not as good as it once was, the contract of the thin black lettering against the grey keytops is extremely hard to see. Definitely meant for someone with better typing skills than me.
HP provides the basic windows 365 apps, word, excel, PowerPoint, and outlook as well as a one drive account if you activate it for one year. The laptop starts out in “S” mode so only certified Microsoft Store apps can be loaded. This can be changed by activating standard Windows HOME mode, not reversible. As for other software, X-Box abilities and Game Bar are included. A fair entry level PC.

For the price, you can't beat it. Very quick and easy setup. The laptop initially boots in Windows S mode which is a simple version and only gives access to the Windows application via their app store. However, the associate at Best Buy did instruct me how to change it to Windows 11, which is what I needed. I mostly use it when I cannot run an application on iOS. The performance and memory are lower than other models, but if you're looking for something to simply surf the web and email, it's a great little PC.

Everything you would expect from a budget laptop, works great and for the price you can’t beat it. I Use this for zoom calls and typing papers. Great battery life and has a built in camera. Great laptop for those who just need the basic functions out of a laptop without spending a fortune.

This laptop has been more than adequate for the purpose i bought it for. I am by no means a techie nor a gamer. I bought this laptop to surf the web and to download and edit photos from my phone and GoPro. Its done its job well. Two complaints 1) The mouse/navigation pad on the key board. It sucks and is frustrating to use but they all are. I got a mouse and end of problem. 2). The battery life is low. I just keep it plugged in because the battery life is so poor

This laptop was purchased solely to do taxes and other minor tasks. It seems to be adequate for the job, but trying to get windows 10 s security set up was a nightmare. Overall, it is decent at the price paid, just wouldn’t over do it as far as playing games or doing large projects. I would buy it again.
