Great printer for value! You have to set it up using the HP smart app which is very simple unless your not good with technology. Other then that it’s works great and the printing quality is exceptional. Also you do have to manually get the paper and feed it back into the printer if your going to print on both sides. I know there are printers that do this automatically but this printer is not one of them. I recommend getting the HP instant ink subscription since they just send you the ink and all you need to buy is paper. They have different tiers based on how much you print and you can change or cancel the plan as many times as you want. I haven’t paid for ink in the last 5 years! It’s saved me lots of $$$.

I was weary about the price as it was so cheap but i i needed a printer fast and didn’t want to spend a ton before Christmas, and I am not disappointed at all. It was super easy to set up my iPad and my iPhone, I use it almost daily for my little Etsy shop. Prints great quality as well, I’ve already recommended it to people I know!

FRUSTRATING TO SET UP

The “setup” was a long and frustrating process. I had to watch several YouTube videos for assistance. The wifi would not connect. “This printer is not connected to a network”. That wasn’t the most frustrating. The COLOR INK cartridge continually displayed an “error” message. From “cartridge is in improperly” to “replace cartridge”. I ended up purchasing HP67 cartridge from Amazon only to get “information”stating “the indicated cartridges are not HP Instant Ink cartridges ((yes I subscribed to monthly ink of 300 copies)). I should NOT have had to purchase INK‼️‼️yes the printer works NOW. I guess I will wait to see about the “ink replacement subscription” when the printer gets to that point

This is a decent printer for the price. It prints documents well enough but not suitable for printing high quality pictures. If yo have a WiFi 6 Mesh network you will have issues connecting the printer to the network. I had this issue but I was able to resolve it. Your mileage may vary.

Great value (and performance) for your money. I like the back/top paper loading tray! Space and money saver without compromising performance.

The printer isn't able to connect to wi-fi

I don't suggest anyone get this printer. Every time when I need to print something, I have to unplug the printer many times and it takes up to an hour to print out something. It just has problems connecting to the Wi-Fi. I have owned the printer for not even a month and I have called customer service three times alreay. To be fair, Tech Support is pretty helpful but you have to stay on the line for hours and the same issue will occur every time when I print. I am worried that once it passed 1 year, they are not gonna provide services anymore.

Brand response from HP Team

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer’s lights are flashing continually even after you’ve restarted the device multiple times. I can easily understand why that would be a jarring surprise, especially considering you’ve not gotten the support you need. With that in mind, I’ll offer a resource and some information I hope will help.
I can’t tell from your review why your printer has performed this way, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

Great home printer! Setup was fine, although there was a bit of a hiccup with the paper input tray, that turned out to be MY mistake. I kept getting an error message in the HP Smart app that there was a "paper tray error." The issue wasn't actually an issue because I realized that the back paper tray has to be fully extended and locked in place for the printer to function as normal. The computer table that I have the printer on, has a rail on it that partially obstructed that back tray, therefore, the paper wouldn't feed into the printer properly. After figuring that out, everything has been working perfectly. I've set up the app on my phone, tablet, and PC, and all is well. The print quality is really nice in both color and black, the printer itself prints pages very quickly, and it's very easy to use. Wifi setup took about 5 minutes. I enrolled in HP's Instant Ink subscription program and will be getting my first (FREE) order in the next few days. Is this adulting? Being weirdly excited over a printer and ink? Because I'm there.

Setup Tip-
If your computer is connected to your home internet network by way of ethernet cable, I suggest unplugging and using the wi-fi instead if the computer has it. I had some trouble setting up but as soon as I switched over to my wi-fi to finish the rest was a breeze, just a small reminder
Good little printer especially for sale. Gets all your at home office and school needs done, print, scan or copy with relative ease just be patient during the setup process. It's only a one time thing that shouldn't discourage you.

Excellent price. Super easy to set up. I only need it for occasional printing and scanning. For the price is absolutely great. I use this with a MacBook. Also next day free delivery major plus! Print quality is good for price. Comes with cartridge. Lightweight and small.

This is a good printer for occasional use. Works fine for single pages, I have not tried it for multiple pages. Easy to operate even for those who are not tech savvy. Price was very good and ink is very reasonable also, I was surprised how affordable ink was.

The ink was vibrant. The ink for this machine is about $15-$18, not bad compared to other printers with expensive ink. The machine itself is lightweight, easy to lift. However setting it up for first time use with connecting to Wi-fi was tedious. Many steps.

This HP Deskjet is my first ever Wireless printer. It's also my first HP printer for that matter. The setup was ok but it was a little frustrating. I had to install an HP app and then do the setup through that and both on my phone and on my desktop it was not exactly flawless. Yes, I got it installed and working but the setup steps were just a little wonky.... and on the desktop I ended up have to re-install.
That's not why I'm giving it 4 of 5. I'm giving it 4 of 5 because this thing likes to go asleep after a while.... and if I don't physically walk over to it, press the power button to wake up, it will not print something I send to it. This is slightly annoying. I have not found any way to change that behavior.
That aside, the printer itself was a great value for the money spent (cheap). The print quality is fantastic for a deskjet. Top notch.
When I go to purchase another printer for my office I'll probably give a good hard look at the HP brand. This is definitely a reliable purchase. And I really like their ink refill program.

Good product and compact. Found it on sale and it is great for the cost. Sometimes I have issues with the connection, and if it is in certain spots where the backside is somehow pressed, it may have issues. But if you avoid this, no issues at all.

I really like the size and shape of this printer. It’s small enough to fit on a small shelf that I have in our common area. Set up is pretty easy using the HP Smart app.
I did have an issue at first where the printer would lose internet connection after so many minutes of being idle and would essentially freeze. Pressing any of the buttons would do nothing and I had to unplug it and plug it back in to reset the printer. However, after updating the firmware using the HP Smart app, I haven’t had this issue anymore after several days of being idle.
As far as printing and copying, it’s nothing fancy. Just a basic color printer with a small digital screen and a few buttons (not touch screen), but it works well for me. Plus I got it as a Black Friday deal, so it was only $20, which was perfect!
