I recently came into the market looking for a laptop PC because I am going back to graduate school for GIS and will need to run a high-powered program that's only available for windows users (I could try to run parallel on my Mac but was told it might not work for the program by one of my profs). Anyway, I went to Best Buy, and hemmed and hawed for an hour, talked to staff, including geek squad, read the online reviews, and settled on this one because of processing, memory, and video card--all things that will be necessary for me to be successful in school and professionally. From the moment I took it out of the box, it has run slowly. It usually takes about 3min to boot up and for windows to launch after I log-in. I ended up taking it to geek squad where they took off all the unnecessary junk that comes with a new computer (free 30-day subscription partial downloads, etc). It still runs unbelievably slow for an i6 processor, but I'm not sure if that's now due to my heavy-duty GIS software that takes up a ton of space. The part about it turning into a tablet is going to be helpful at some point, I think, but it makes for a large, heavy tablet when I play with the function so I'm sticking with my lightweight iPad for now.

Love the graphics, touch screen, hi resolution, backlit keyboard, i7 processor, tablet or laptop, etc. I run an HP shop and this has it all. The only thing missing is the DVD r/w. Great for presentations using touch screen with power point while screen is the only thing showing. Impresses clients every time.

The laptop is a very nice. I love the large screen and clear graphics. Unfortunately, I have noticed that it disconnects from my wireless connection from time to time. I'm not sure if that's a wireless issue or an issue with the computer itself. Another thing I wish it had was some type of stand to prop it up when it is converted into a tablet. Other than that, I am pleased.

I love this laptop/tablet it will do everything I need. The reason for four stars is it has a tendency to turn itself off for random reasons moving it in any manner while plugged in is one. Putting it two inches down to stand up is another. But once you figure out when and how, everything else works really well. Fast and responsive and very easy to learn all the quirks.

Just to preface this review, I did replace the 1TB hard drive with a PNY 480GB SSD. This has been an excellent 2-in-1 computer. I bought the computer while it was on sale over a month ago and couldn't be more please with the speed and performance. The fan on the processor does not run very often even when streaming from the internet full length movies. Booting from complete power off to operational is about 10 seconds. The touch screen is great and very accurate. The screen and image quality is very good as well. I had looked at tablets before this computer. Though the screen is 15"; in tablet mode it is very easy to handle. My only problem with the computer is the touchpad when typing. It gets in the way of my large hands often. Otherwise an excellent computer.

Purchased laptop as part of Best Buy computer sale for my daughter just starting college. It has all the capabilities she needs. Excellent CPU (Intel core i7), more than adequate memory (12gB), and storage (1TB). Not to mention the all important sound system. SHe should be well positioned for the next four years.

My old laptop suddenly stopped working, right in the middle of my work, and I needed a new one right away. I raced down to Best Buy to see if they had what I wanted in stock, and sure enough. I love this laptop and the versatility. I also love that one can disable the touch pad, and still use the touch screen.

I like the versatility of the keyboard or the touch screen. My grandchildren are able to enjoy it because of the touch screen. It makes a nicer viewing screen when flipped back and stood on it's edge. 1 drawback is getting used to the operating system. I'm much more familiar and comfortable with previous Microsoft systems.

I picked this up a while ago and have overall been pretty pleased. It comes preloaded with a bunch of HP junk that you may or may not want, but that's pretty par for the course with a retail laptop. Build quality and the fit and finish are nice, and the laptop seems fairly fast. I did immediately install a solid state drive and bumped the RAM to 16gb, so it's hard for me to comment on the out of the box performance. The stock hard drive is slow, and I can't imagine too many people buying an i7 would be too pleased. Installing the SSD was easy, but installing the RAM required disassembling literally almost the entire laptop. The RAM is on the non-accessible side of the motherboard, and required removing many connections from the motherboard and even required detaching the heatsink/fan assembly. Overall, though, a very solid laptop for the price.

I purchased this laptop for a new employee. We spend all day reviewing structural building plans. The large 15.5" screen helps and all the USB ports allows extra monitors. We have 2 hooked up, one to the HDMI and one to a USB. Have not had any issues with multiple plans being open at same time. Plenty of memory and speed. Really like having a number pad on the keyboard. We enter a lot of numbers and it is a lot easier than just the row across the top.

I am very pleased with my choice of the HP Envy. It has every feature that I was looking for and the price was affordable. Made the transition from an old Dell Studio Pentium II with windows 7 to the HP Envy i7 with windows 8 without a problem. Love the touch screen as well as having the ability to move from the windows 8 app screen back to the familiar desktops.

Runs fast with Coolsense off. Runs hot either way, just not burning hot. Touchpad is pretty much worthless. Screen is great, in a dark room with it turned up to 100 and you don't mind the wires from the touchscreen showing. Windows 8.1 sucks, but 10 is coming and the upgrade is free...cross your fingers.. Inertia sensor sticks. I feel like a decade ago...a laptop will never be a desktop. Well, this thing doesn't quite get laptop or tablet operations. No matter the mode be wary of the power button, just hovering above it will send it to sleep.

Love the touchscreen and keyboard is easy to type on. No built in CD/DVD player but I guess this is the norm for all new laptops according the the salesperson. Touchpad does take some getting used too. Right click is a little tricky. Must click inside the square, not to the far right.
