So I've only had the printer for a day, so I can't really speak to anything other than the installation, and my initial observations... I'm upgrading from an HP 477fdw (which was a good printer until the fuser went out after ~2 years, which is like a $600 fix...). Installation isn't intuitive at all, at least via USB (I didn't test the ethernet install option). The unit does not come with a USB cable, so you'll have to bring your own... and as others have mentioned, it exclusively supports USB 2.0, so if your computer's ports are 3.0, you may run into some compatibility issues. You'll need a flash drive if you plan on updating the firmware (which HP recommends)... The slider thing in tray 1 is flimsy, and I didn't notice that they added a little clip on the right side that has to be pressed in order to move the slider, so the left side immediately popped off, and from what I can tell, that won't be fixable without taking the thing apart... and lastly, the process to get automatic duplex printing to work is pretty dumb. By default, within the printer's preferences, it makes it look like manual duplex printing is your only option. I print double sided ~20-30 times a week, and having to manually flip the pages would have been a deal-breaker. I checked multiple websites for descriptions for this unit, and they all indicated that it does automatic duplex printing, so I continued to search for a resolution. I eventually discovered that you have to go into the printer's properties, and indicate that it has a duplex unit installed. The fact that it's not set to installed by default is pretty silly. Other than that, it seems like an adequate (and expensive) all in one business printer. No clue how long it's going to last, though, because it definitely feels flimsier than my previous printer, and that one only lasted ~2 years.

Doesn't default to automatic duplex printing and instructions don't tell you how to set this option on as default. Instead, defaults to manually duplexing. Once I figured it out, it works great - better than previous HP business laser duplex printer method. The M480 prints both sides at once, rather than mechanically turning over paper to print other side.
Instructions for updating firmware also lacking in sufficient detail for updating via USB slot.
Marked down review due to inadequate and sometimes misleading instructions. Otherwise, I'm very happy with performance so far.
On-line chat support not very helpful.

Very nice color laser, scanner, fax. Good print quality. Good speed. Brain dead default install options as delivered. The printer connects via ethernet or USB. If ethernet your PC will find and install printer but not scanner. If you only need one connection via USB its delivered with that option disabled. While it would appear that you can activate the USB connection via the touch panel, you actually need to get to settings via web browser. If you want to scan via ethernet (wired) connection you also need to turn on some obscure functions in the web browser control screen for the printer. The EasyStart software that should do this doesn't install seamlessly on all machines. If you search hard enough on Google you can find the instructions. HP seriously needs to enable all product features by default. Once set up, very good printer/scanner.

Fast and quiet. A little on the pricier side compared to similar printers.

Sad, the expensive HP Printer is not wireless. It's the most expensive model and not even equipped for "wireless". I'll be returning the printer and looking for ANOTHER printer. HP has been really disappointing!!!!..this was my 2nd HP laserjet printer...not too happy!

I am sad to see that only my M480 has the problem that :
1) "GET /eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost" prints on the top of a plain sheet of paper every day;
2) I need to reboot the machine each morning, otherwise it will not print and neither HP Smart nor Windows 11 settings printer pending items can "see" the pending items;
3) the scan function cannot be improved from 200dpi to 300dpi and saved without attaching an ethernet cable directly to the printer. In my case my computer has the ethernet cable and the M480 is attached by USB cable to my HP Pavilion;
4) If you have a problem and you have owned the machine for less than 30 days, don't wait like I did, RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY. I thought my problem was a device driver issue. When I finally got around to calling HP it was too late. I spent three days at lease 5 hours per session with HP. The technicians were great, but were never able to solve the problem. HP also came and replaced the motherboard to no avail;
5) rebooting the printer wouldn't be such a big deal except it takes a little more than 2 minutes. That is a ridiculous amount of time especially since all the components are warmed up.
6) this was the worst HP LaserJet I've ever had.
Judging from the lack of reviews with problems similar to my own, it probably just a fluke. My bad luck.
I will replace the printer once the ink is exhausted.

This is a good printer, the issue i have with it is that it costs $350 dollars every time you need toner and generic toners will not work in it.
