The setup was extremely easy! The printer already had the ink installed and it was only a matter of connecting the ethernet cable and adding a network printer. The setting and options are almost overwhelming but it gets narrowed as you pick a connection and configuration. The print quality is very crisp and clear as is the scanning quality. Oddly enough the feature that blew me away was the copy function! I made a copy of a color photo-quality image and the copier made a beautiful copy with minor issues. There was a very slight loss of color gradiation in a very few and very hard to spot areas. The color copy was very very good. I make copies pretty frequently and even tho i do not make copies of photos i do make color copies with various graphics on it and this all-in-one will not disappoint. The 2.7 inch screen is a breeze to operate and navigate. There are way more options than you will ever use. it also has a nice feature of allowing you to print using already installed templates such as graphs/notebook, calendars..etc. The other nifty feature is the adjustable slot on the front of the printer which allows for printing on envelopes or specialty sized paper one at a time. Truly a powerhouse all-in-one that has a small footprint considering the quality of the performance and the DUAL SIDED PRINTING!! That's right it has automatic dual sided printing, it prints extremely fast and on both sides. No more flipping paper and mixing up the orientation...a great printer A+. The only issue is the app for mobile printing does work but it does take some getting used to but the connection was smooth using direct wifi link. The printer also offer dual band printing, 2.4/5.0, i use the 5Ghz and sending wireless jobs is much faster than my old 2.4 connection, it spools large jobs very quickly. I ramble on but it is a very nice printer.

Large & Heavy, but Great for Crafting

Set up: The initial set up for this printer was easy to understand and was very quick. It took less then 5 minutes to get it set up and printing. Size: This printer is quite large! We needed to give up a lot of valuable desk real estate to upgrade from our simple inkjet to this laser jet printer. If space is limited, this may not be the printer for you. Looks: I appreciate that this printer is more of a whitish gray plastic. Our previous ink jet printer was shiny black plastic and it would very quickly become dusty. Also, the glossy surface would show smudges and fingerprints. This material shows less dust and doesn't smudge as easily. Thankfully I wont have to dust it off as often. Printing quality: I was impressed by the printing quality. I intend to use the printer for crafting & diy projects - So, the first test was printing onto waterslide paper (which I compared to the same image previously printed with an inkjet). The quality and color was virtually identical. As someone who works with waterslide paper often-I would recommend this printer for those who work crafting projects. Speed: I scanned and printed 20 copies of a full page black and white documents. The printer took about a minute to scan the page in, and took a little less than two minutes to print 20 copies. The process was very easy to understand and was quick. Even those who do not consider themselves particularly tech savvy will be able to use this printer. Overall: I was very impressed by this as an entry level laser printer. The speed and quality seem very high for the price of the product and I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for a laser printer in this price range. CAUTION: Be aware that the replacement toner is VERY expensive. Typically I purchase generic toner from whatever website offers the best price. BUT, there are several warnings that generic cartridges may not work. It appears as though HP goes out of there way to ensure that only licensed toner will work. As the printer is connected to your wireless network - it sounds as though Over The Air Updates may be used to ensure that generic cartridges do not work. Please look up the replacement toner to ensure you understand how much you will be paying for replacements. (I now understand why some people literally purchase a new printer every they need new Toner or Ink).

I recently purchased the HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer from Best Buy, and I must say, it's a fantastic addition to my office. As someone who frequently prints documents and materials, this printer has exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the setup process was a breeze. I was able to connect it to my Wi-Fi network without any hassle, and the wireless functionality means I can print from anywhere in my home. This is a huge plus for me as it saves time and increases my productivity. The print quality is outstanding. Whether it's color or black and white, the results are sharp and professional. As a triathlon coach and event organizer, I often need to print various materials, and the vibrant colors and crisp text this printer produces are impressive. Another feature I appreciate is its multifunction capabilities. The ability to scan, copy, and fax from one device is a game-changer. It's space-saving and cost-effective, eliminating the need for multiple machines. The printer's speed is also noteworthy. It handles large printing jobs quickly and efficiently, which is essential for my busy schedule. The automatic document feeder and the double-sided printing feature further add to its efficiency. Lastly, I want to mention the HP Smart app, which I found incredibly user-friendly. It allows me to easily manage printer tasks and scan on the go, which is perfect for my active lifestyle. In conclusion, the HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw from Best Buy is a top-notch printer that offers great value for its price. It's reliable, versatile, and produces high-quality prints. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a robust and efficient all-in-one printer.

This is a great! printer, copier, scanner and fax. Super easy to set up. You do need a landline cable to fax. Easier to use DropBox Fax. While the print cartridges are expensive in the long run it's a cheaper way to go than buying a cheap printer and then buying lots! of small batches of printers ink which doesn't print as well. The starter ink cartridges that come with it lasted us for a long while, but we don't print a lot every day. It's a Fast Printer and Scanner. The HP LaserJet wireless connection serves a 3,200 sq ft home and is used by multiple family members. One works from home. This is our second HP-LaserJet Pro M283 Wireless printer. The first one died after 5 years but I gave it a 5 star rating because it's relatively cheap and is an awesome printer. I have one of the original HP LaserJet printers that's going on 25 years. It only prints and is not wireless. I love! these printers.

    A Bit of a Disappointment

Overall, the M238 is very good multi-use device. However, there are some issues that prevent it from being great. PROs: * Set up is very easy. Just follow the onscreen instructions, and it’s ready in minutes. * The primary paper dispenser (designated #2) is easy to access and offers a variety of paper size options. * Printing a document is quiet and very fast, be it color or b&w, including two-sided printing. * Scan function is also quiet, fast, and produces good quality reproduction. * Touchscreen control panel is large enough for easy reading. * The operational software HPSmart is easy to use. * Unless you are a high demand user, the toner cartridges should last quite a while. That’s a good thing, because replacements are expensive. CONs: *There is second paper dispenser (designated#1), and you must look for it, because there is no diagram of functional areas. The numbers embossed on the printer front give a clue that there should be another dispenser. When it’s found, DO NOT try to remove it for loading it, as it is designed for hand feeding individual sheets. Again, there is no documentation regarding its functionality; so, being used to multi-sheet loading, I removed. By removing it, I learned the composition is very thin plastic and is a chore to get reinserted. I was afraid it would break before I got it back. So, you can insert single paper sheets or single photo sheets, which is not ok if you need to print more than one or two items. * While the M238 duplex prints, it does NOT duplex scan. So, using the document feeder for scanning two-sided documents requires manual input, essentially doubling scanning time. If you have a large multipage document, you cannot load and go. You must turn over the document, and then send it back through. That can be tedious, even more so than the single sheet printer feed. * Photo printing is awful. Colors are washed out, even on high gloss paper, and the printed picture looks like a photo from many years ago that was exposed to light. Also, when a picture is printed, it exits into an area inside the printer. To retrieve it, you must lean over if sitting in a chair or standing, stick your hand inside an open area recessed in the printer, and then pull out the picture. That wouldn’t be so bad if you received a proper print. * For the cost of the printer, one would expect it would not lack any functionality and that ALL work product would be excellent. BOTTOM LINE: If you don’t care about quality photo printing, this is an excellent printer. If you don’t mind manually scanning two-sided documents, this is an excellent scanner. However, without those caveats being disclosed, I would not recommend it to a friend.

    Great Multi-Function Color Laser Printer

This HP Color LaserJet Pro M283fdw is a very well built, feature rich printer as you have come to expect from HP. Unpacking and setup: This is a fairly heavy printer (just over 40lbs) and taking it out of the box is not that difficult if you follow the instructions. It can be done by one person, but may be easier if someone else was holding the box while you're pulling on the plastic bag to slide the whole unit out with the box laying on its side. The setup is quick and easy, you don't have to mess with the toner cartridges cause they're already installed. Downloading the full Software Suite (240MB) from HP's website took longer than expected, but it was probably some Internet congestion, etc. The Hardware initialization and Software install took about 5 minutes but may be faster on a newer PC. Once completed, and setup on the wired network, a print out came out automatically with the web printing email address and information on how to print from anywhere. Connectivity: This printer has it all. You can connect it directly via USB cable. You can wire it to your network via Gigabit Ethernet cable or you can set it up over dual-band Wi-Fi, either 2.4GHz or 5GHz which is great if you have many Wi-Fi devices on your network. There is also a front USB port. Printing Performance: I was impressed how quickly the printer wakes-up and is ready to print, almost instantly. I'm used to laser printers taking a while to warm-up before the first page comes out. It's rare that in such a home-office friendly package, it also prints double-sided (duplex), which is just as fast as printing single-sided with the added advantage of saving paper. On average I got about 20 pages per minute in mixed black and white, color and duplex modes. Print quality is crisp and color reproduction is quite accurate to the naked eye. HP Smart App for Android: I was really excited to very easily be able to print directly from my smart phone. Once you install the App it will prompt for additional HP Driver software which is also freely downloadable from the Play Store. The app gives you many options to print documents, photos, scan, copy, etc. I chose to print a photo from my local Gallery, though it gave me an option to print from Google Photos or Amazon Photos, if you have those Apps installed. Even though I did not use photo quality paper, the images and colors still came out really good, just not as shiny as it would be on photo paper. Scanning/Copying: Tested a simple document scan from my PC and again it was very intuitive, lots of options as to what file format to save the scan to PDF, JPG, and many other popular formats, or directly to email. Touchscreen LCD: There is a 2.7" tilt-able color LCD screen that is very intuitive and easy to navigate for settings and to manage the core functions of printing, scanning, copying or faxing. Overall this is an excellent printer, versatile and very well built. It is heavy and larger than your typical home inkjet printers of basic B&W laser printers, but that's to be expected for such a feature-rich workhorse. Make sure you check the dimensions before you buy one. It fits well in my home office furnished with matching Ikea furniture and custom built white PC tower :-)

AS far as the printer goes itself, it is solid. Does the job well, imaging was right on, and apparently the ink is supposed to stretch across 1300-1400 sheets, so we''ll if that's true, but I have likely already printed at least 75 sheets and the quality is great. There is also a touch screen that is small but easily functional. I haven't had to use it much though as the device is like a smart device and detects what you are trying to do and adjusts. I must also mention, the setup was probably the easiest out of the box setup I have ever done for a printer. No disk drives, no cords, it was WONDERFUL -- just plugged it in and found my Wifi network in seconds. I was able to print directly from my Mac and as well as my Android phone without installing any drivers or software, again, a major plus. The toner and ink cartridges all came pre-installed so it was just a plug and print type deal. Apparently the toner is supposed to last 12-18 months and I hope this is correct because MAN the toner is expensive! Be ready to spend a minimum $70 for replacement toner...and that is the only con I would bring up. Nonetheless, it is a significant step up from the more basic printers out there so you get what you pay for. Either way, I am surely keeping this one for my business at home!

Pros: good color, speed, options for install and functionality. For a big(ish) machine it gives off little to no heat while powered on continuously. Great overall print quality for text & documents. Cons: quite noisy when actually printing, HP Smart hub is not as user friendly as I think it should be, input screen is very small so some setup is hard (tiny keyboard buttons), not real good for printing photos. Overall a good machine with lots of functionality, and after many years of frustration of ink-jets drying up too quickly (living in AZ desert) this lasts longer than what I've had in the past. I had this same line (one model lower) previously though, and it stopped working properly in under two years ...so this is technically a replacement that I'm hoping outlives its' 2 year Geek Squad protection (however that was not due to drying out). One difference I've found is that I can't seem to locate how to assign an email address to this new one which was a nice function I like on the previous model (278-281). If it is still there I haven't found it yet in the HP Smart hub. The toner seems to last long enough for what we need. And while it takes up more real estate than I'd like...it isn't TOO big and clunky considering it prints, copies and scans at a level that a small business would be happy with and I'm using it in my home. In this day and age of so much being paperless and digital, actual printers may be in the twilight of their usefulness, but it is still a need when you have kids in school and especially now while working from home so much. But given the point about printers and their current place in the world, I think that this product may have been a bit overpriced too. Overall I'm happy with it...as long as it outlasts my warranty this time.

This is a great printer. It's easy to setup. My wife was amazed i could print with it 10 minutes after taking it out of the box. I use it wireless and have quick printing results. Scanning is a snap with HPSmart application. I love the # of copies i get per toner cartridge. The double sided printing saves time. The copy feeder works great. I highly recommend this printer.

I had a scanner, and I had a HP LaserJet printer at my home office and loved printing off of it, but I would need to be able to scan and make copies as well. I had a scanner, so there were times that I would scan what I needed to make copies of and then print them off, but it gets old after a while. Scan and save the file, open it to print, then you need to delete and while it is not a big step, it can be a pain when to do extra steps when you don't need to. I went with this one because it had great reviews, and I have not had any regrets! I love it so much! When I need to do a copy, I can do a copy without scanning it first! It also scans and can-do multiples without having to do one at a time like my old one scanner and the best part, I went from two machines, to one so I have more space on my side desk. Love the print quality! Laser jet over ink jet any day!

Printing has never been more convenient, fast, or high-quality since I brought home the HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer. This device is not just a printer; it's a versatile, all-encompassing office solution that combines printing, scanning, copying, and faxing into one compact design. The first thing that struck me about this printer is its sleek, white design that seamlessly fits into any office or home setting. Its compact size belies the power and capabilities it packs, making it a welcome addition to my workspace. When it comes to performance, the LaserJet Pro M283fdw truly shines. The speed and efficiency of the printing process are impressive, with crisp, vibrant color prints appearing in what feels like no time at all. The auto-duplex feature is a time-saver, allowing for automatic two-sided printing that reduces paper usage and provides professional-looking documents. The quality of the scans and copies is equally impressive. The detail and color accuracy of the scans, coupled with the speed and reliability of the copier, make this all-in-one machine a must-have for any busy office. One of the standout features of the LaserJet Pro M283fdw is its wireless capability. The ease of connecting the printer to my Wi-Fi network and the convenience of printing directly from my devices, be it a laptop, smartphone, or tablet, cannot be overstated. Moreover, the HP Smart app adds another level of comfort by allowing for remote printer management and easy mobile printing. The printer's touch screen interface is easy to navigate, making it simple to adjust settings, manage print jobs, and more. Additionally, the 50-sheet automatic document feeder adds an element of convenience for scanning or copying multi-page documents. In terms of running costs, the HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw is economical, particularly for a color laser printer. The high-capacity toner cartridges contribute to a lower cost per page, making this printer a cost-effective choice for long-term use. To sum up, the HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer is a high-performing, user-friendly, and efficient machine that has elevated my printing experience. It caters to all my printing needs, from vivid color prints and precise scans to fast copies and reliable fax. For anyone in need of an all-in-one printer that promises quality, speed, and convenience, I highly recommend the LaserJet Pro M283fdw. It truly delivers on all fronts.

What can I say, it's an HP! One of the best color laser printers "out there" in the printer universe. It set up easy, picked up our WiFi signal and practically configured itself. Time to first print is quick, and it spits the pages out! Fast! Plus it prints on both sides. It has an envelope feed tray as well. It seems a bit spendier than some other color laser printers, but the quality more than makes up for that, hands down!

Easy setup. The printer is a little louder than I expected, however the speed and print quality is greatly desired. I do wish the manual document feed located on the front of the printer had a pullout tray to hold some of the papers. The automatic document feeder "tray" 1 works fine and holds plenty of paper for printing. It does what is promoted and handles printing well. I haven't worked on any major print jobs on this printer yet, but it appears to be powerful enough to handle the job. It definitely is less stress compared to working with ink jet printers worrying about if the ink head nozzle has to be cleaned again because the ink dried.

We replaced our old inexpensive Canon Inkjet printer with the HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw Wireless Color All-in-One Laser Printer. We use our printer every day, and we are SO happy that we decided to purchase a laser printer instead of an ink jet this time around. The images are sharp, the colors are vivid, and we can quickly print from our cell phones, computers, and our ipad. Set-up was surprisingly easy. Our only reservation would be that the printer is a little louder than you might expect when it is printing something. We love having a laser printer at home!
