This is the second printer of this version that we purchased - and the only reason we had to buy a second is because we made the mistake of buying cheaper replacement toner online and ended up with one that just barely didn't fit, and completely broke the printer when trying to remove it. The wireless has worked incredibly well allowing us to print from phones and different computers. We rarely have to replace toner and the print quality is very good. We will just be spending the extra money in the future and buying ink directly from HP.

Great printer for the money. It was very easy to install. I was able to connect it and install it to our Legal Attorney's work computer with no problem at all. Not necessarily that loud when printing. Prints very good.

I can send things I want printed from my phone and my I-Pad from anywhere in the house. The printer is fast ad compact. Paper is enclosed inside the printer, and there's no tray protruding from the printer to interfere with my space. Love this printer!

This is a great printer for printing anything work related. It is quick to print when doing bulk work and good at keeping the pages coming without jams or issues. The toner is a little expensive for this printer, but it'll last you a good while in between replacements. Overall I'm happy with this purchase, hp should price the toner a little more affordable and it would be a great printer.

the HP LaserJet pro m283FDW is a good workhorse printer. It gets the job done flawlessly. The ability to have it wired or wireless is definitely a big plus. Scanning and copying work great. If i had anything to complain about it, it would be the fact that that it does not scan double sided papers, you have to manually turn the document over to get the other side scanned. Now the software does help with keeping things in order for multiple double sided documents but it's still tedious having to flip the document(s) over to get the other side scan. Prints double sided great though.

Like many laser printers, regardless of brand, this printer was not readily available in my store for pickup the day after Christmas. However, I had seen this exact model in operation at my sister's home office; a week or so before then and that’s when it got on my radar. Before this, I had looked at B/W only as well as color models from Brother and Cannon as well as other HP models. I knew Brother's reputation for solid laser units and lower toner cost, and I knew cannons' solid reputation but toner cost on par with HP. Knowing I could not easily see many of these units in person I went on past experiences with these brands. I wanted to upgrade to a laser when the color cartridges started showing signs of clogging or drying out due to the underuse of the three color cartridges in my HP Officejet Pro 8720. What tipped the scale in favor of Color over B/W only was the fact that powder-based toner does not clog, and I would not have to replace color toner for that reason; cutting toner cost overall. HP was the make of my last three inkjet printers purchased over the last 20 years for myself in my home/office; all 3 were Multifunction units. 2 that Faxed, copied, scanned, and printed, and 1 without fax. All worked out of the box for many years. Therefore. I stuck with HP. Although I had not printed photos in high quality in a very long time, I was surprised that only some lasers supported printing on photo paper and glossy as well. This printer does a respectable job on various weights of plan and photo paper; a Plus in my book; however, for pro-quality photos separately; use 6 color inkjet capable printers. Text and Graphics on this printer are awesome! I have yet to work out how to use the single sheet paper tray for an envelope but I did try a single sheet of paper in it and got great results. As to the Auto Document feeder, it is a manual duplex (you need to flip pages in the ADF manually if they are two-sided) and do a manual collation. However, I don’t use this feature much lately and I can live with the tradeoff. On to connectivity. I use wireless dual-band and sometimes HP wireless direct and HP ePrint; additionally, Ethernet and USB are supported. I do not use Apple AirPrint and Google cloud print recently was killed in December 2020 so I am finding alternatives to cloud print anyway for lack of use. Overall a good investment and should last many years. I did get the 4-year replacement plan as I see this unit being on the market for that long anyway, and I think I can expect that length of service for myself. I know that HP supplies are pricy and typically are chipped, but I must go along with the recommendation to use HP toner at least during the first year (the manufacture warranty period). The use of non-OEM or NON-HP 206A or 206X toner could void all warranty, and you probably will need the chips from HP 206A or 206X cartridges to make the aftermarket cartridges work. If you can afford it get the 206X type as on average they are at least double the page count of 206A and close to or over 3 x the page count of starter cartridges.

We've had this for 4 months now and I bought it to replace a 25-yr-old HP color laser that served us well. I was only focused on getting another color laser to replace it, but this printer has surprised me in so many ways. It prints 2-sided-Whoa! Printing from anywhere in the house over wifi/ethernet is SO much easier. Used to be I had to know the printer's IP address and then manually set that up-and IP addresses can change over time. And now we can print from phones or iPads over wifi super easy. And then there's the scanner. I knew it had one but didn't think much of it as I already have a flat bed scanner. But this scanner is amazing! It's easier than my Canon and does a great job with scanning documents into PDFs. But even better is I can put a stack of 25 to 30 photographs in the top, click a button and it'll quickly pull them into the feeder and in seconds, I have them all as JPGs! The HP Smart software that you use to scan also rotates most of them to the correct orientation no matter which way they go in. For most prints I simply select 4x6 photos via the feeder and it handles the rest. And it's fast! Sometimes it might miss rotating one, but rotating is just a click away. So what used to be a laborious manual chore is now handled like lightning. We have two tubs full of old photos that no longer scare me. Add it up and this is a fantastic home printer & scanner. I love it and am so thankful we got it.

This is my first time owning a laser jet printer. This is a well worth upgrade from my previous ink jet canon pixma all in one printer. I was looking for an all in one laser jet printer, and this HP printer covered all those needs from printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. The duplex print requirement was also there. I was also looking for something that's not too high (between 13 inches to 15 inches in height maximum), and once again, this HP printer's height fit the bill. Finally, the installation was a breeze. The easiest install I have ever experienced so far. The only thing that you'll need to lookout for is the replacement toners. They are on the expensive side when it's time to replace four of these toners, but I think for our use, the regular sized toners should last us at least half a year.

Ahoy from the sleek, chic, and ever-so-slightly cheeky HP Color LaserJet Pro M283fdw! Firstly, let's talk ambiance. I'm all about that low lighting, but can we get a tad more illumination? Remember, I like to see things clearly, especially when spitting out those colorful pie charts. The plants? A nice touch. It's always good to have a few green colleagues around. Desk organization? Um, "creative" is the word I'd go with. All those scattered papers – are you trying to make me jealous because they're not from my tray? Keep them orderly! And, trust me, a coaster goes a long way – I've seen what coffee spills can do. We wouldn’t want another “incident,” would we? Wi-Fi strength: impeccable. I mean, it's the breath of my digital life. Thanks for ensuring I'm always connected. Without it, I'd feel... unplugged. Temperature: Can we drop it a degree or two? I'm all for warm and cozy, but I've got a lot of inner workings, and I don’t want to break a sweat. Remember, when I feel hot, I might just... jam. Lastly, the positioning: Right by the window, seriously? It's nice to have a view, but the sun plays havoc with my complexion. I might be laser-fast, but I'm not sun-proof! In conclusion: It's been a wild ride in your home office. A few tweaks here and there, and I'll elevate that rating. Until then, keep those print jobs coming, and I'll keep dazzling you with my sharp outputs. Stay vibrant! Yours in color and clarity, HP Color LaserJet Pro M283fdw

Easy setup, reliable service. What a printer should be. Also, after a month of low to moderate use, plenty of toner -- the old inkjet performance was ok, but there was always a nagging worry about ink and printhead problems. Gone! Glad we made the leap

All I’ve ever had in my office were ink jet printers and I got tired of having to go to places like Staples to get documents laser printed in good quality. At first the price had me hesitant but when I added up all the times I would go to get documents printed at Staples it only made sense to make the purchase. Having this printer has been awesome, the documents come out really good quality and it prints much faster compared to my old ink jet. I haven’t really tried to print pictures with it so I can’t speak to that but I’ve printed color graphics and with regular black text it looks great! I love the fact that I can print wirelessly with WiFi, and scan documents with ease, this printer has been a life saver!

This printer replaces a 13 year old Samsung color laser all in one that finally gave up the ghost. This HP was $100 more expensive, has a larger footprint, is heavier, and handles larger jobs more efficiently than my old printer. Print quality is fine for my purposes (I tend to be picky) in both color and B/W. Color images accurately reflect the original. The touch screen on the HP is a great improvement over the Samsung [one would hope after 10+ years of improved technology]. Loading of cartridges required reading the directions, but was simple enough. Here's hoping this printer lasts as long as the Samsung!

With all of the features this printer and the features my other one has I will be able to provide better service for my customers and my business. Set up was easy, just turn on your computer, plug in and turn on the printer, connect to your network then the Internet and off you go. All prints are crisp and clear.

I use this with my Apple Mac Book Air Laptop in my home office. With a WIFI connection, the HP M28fdw printer automatically shows up on the list of available printers and beautifully prints any image or document sent its way. HP has been making laser printers longer than anyone, and based upon my actual use of the Laser Jet Pro M283fdw printer, they still lead the pack.
