I recently picked up the HP LaserJet Tank 2504dw Wireless Black-and-White Laser Printer, and I’m really impressed! Right out of the box, the setup was super easy, and the wireless connectivity made it a breeze to connect to my home network. One of the best features is that it comes preloaded with enough toner to last up to two years, which is a huge money-saver and really convenient. I love not having to worry about running out of toner anytime soon! The print quality is excellent—documents come out sharp and clear, making it perfect for both work and personal use. The printer is relatively compact, which is great for my home office setup. I appreciate the automatic double-sided printing feature, which saves on paper and is eco-friendly. The print speed is impressive as well; it handles high-volume printing without any issues. Overall, the HP LaserJet Tank 2504dw is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective printer. It combines quality and convenience in one sleek package, and I highly recommend it!

    Very Economical B&W Laser Printer

Economical, Black & White laser printer with a small profiles so it fits perfectly in my TV console. Does double sided prints nicely to save on paper. It is slightly slower than my 1 year old Brother HL-L2370DW that counts pages, not actual toner consumption so even if you have toner in the cartdridge, it won't print. Not a problem with HP LaserJet Tank 2504dw. The HP 153X toner reload kit costs $28 for 5000 pages vs $121 for a 5000 page toner cartridge for the Brother HL-L2370DW. The HP LaserJet 2504dw sets up in 5 minutes using a YouTube video. I spent hours trying to set up the Brother HL-L2370DW and then the Wi-Fi would go on and off frequently and I'd be constantly have to re-set it. Just two minor negatives: 1. The paper cover is a bit flimsy and 2. I'd like using draft mode to save on toner, but with the HP 2504, the print is a bit too light. But at $28 for 5000 pages, just print on normal and not draft. There's quite a bit less plastic waste since there are no toner cartridges or drum units to deal with.

    Impressive printer for the price

If black print is what you need in a printer that won’t break your budget, prints fast on both sides of the paper, has sharp crisp text / output, small footprint, and isn’t cost prohibitive to operate, this is it. Again, this printer only prints black. If you’re needing / wanting a printer that prints color, this isn’t it. It’s not an “all in one” with a scanner and FAX either. Printer only. Minimalist design to keep cost down as in no color touch screen. Just a tiny LCD display and a few operation buttons that illuminate when needed. I’m not going to be listing the specs in my review as those are in the product description. The next section is for a buyer that’s not sure about buying a laser printer or inkjet printer. If you’re already familiar with laser printers versus inkjet printers then just skip over it. A laser printer produces its output like a photocopier. In the simplest terms, it uses a fine powder (toner) that sticks to a rotating drum, the paper contacts the drum transferring the powder to the paper. The paper passes through rollers on its way out and one of those rollers is heated and melts the powder “fusing” it to the paper as it passes through. A laser is used to scan the image to the drum. A big advantage is you can use cheap copy paper and the output looks good. Deep black output and made for high volume use. No bleeding like an inkjet. Print at a much higher rate and cheaper to operate than an inkjet. Color laser printers can print photos that look good on glossy paper, but dull on plain paper. They are not generally meant for printing photos the same way inkjets are. They can print on slick glossy paper like used for brochures and magazines and it looks outstanding. See photo. Disadvantages are they are expensive compared to inkjets. Cannot print as wide a color gamut photos need like an inkjet printer can. Especially if they use extra inks beyond the basic CMYK. (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, blacK). Can’t print on anything heat sensitive. Like CDs, transparencies, plastic, inkjet photo paper. Inkjet printers produce their images by spraying tiny droplets of ink on the paper and dithering the dots in such a way as to be able to produce almost any color. Hence the name. Inkjet printers use dye or pigment ink. Pigment ink is similar to toner as it is made up of fine particles, but in a liquid medium. Some use a combination of both by having a separate pigment black ink tank for deeper blacks and text output. Advantages are that their color output options makes them the most versatile and you can print decent photos even with basic models. Dedicated photo printers can have up to 12 pigment inks. They can print on a variety of mediums and papers made exclusively for inkjet printers. Disadvantages are that basic inkjet printers are inexpensive to buy but the ink tanks are very expensive making them expensive to use. Higher end inkjet printers may have large tanks you fill with bottles of ink. They cost more upfront but much cheaper to use in the long run. You need to use better paper than the cheapest “copy paper” to get the best print quality due to ink bleed. You will need to use an inkjet printer regularly, say weekly, to prevent nozzle clogs and wasting ink from the printer clearing the clog(s) with more than usual auto cleaning cycles. I compared HP 2504dw printer’s output to the output of a Canon Pixma TR-150 (pigment black ink) and Epson ET-3700 (dye black ink) inkjet printers printing black only.. The photo will show you the differences in print quality between them. If you’re deciding between a laser or inkjet printer, this should help. Inkjet printers did better at printing graphics versus laser printer. The inkjet’s dithering beats the coarse halftone that the 2504DW laser printer uses. In Best Quality modes the laser gets the win with the crispest text, deepest blacks and finer halftoning. The best output I got from all the printers I tested was when I printed something from Microsoft Office like Word or Publisher, or Adobe Photoshop. Printing anything from a browser wasn’t as clean as from a program / app. I wouldn’t use Econo mode to print from a browser. The 2504dw prints at 600 dpi and that is what I scanned the printer’s output at. Print speed is up to 22 pages per minute in A4. You can set up and use the printer up via WiFi (2.4 & 5 GHZ), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth-LE, Ethernet or USB. WiFi setup was quick and easy. Just follow the directions on the included quick start instructions. Same for BT, Ethernet and USB. You set up drivers and software by going to hyperlink provided in the quick start directions. However, it did hang on one of three PCs I installed it on and I had to start it over. No problem the second time. Use QR code for phones and tablets. If you set it up on a PC the app knows and makes installation super easy. It takes some time for it to print the first time after you set it up. Sounds like it’s stirring and distributing the toner. Speaking of toner, you add toner to this printer from a bottle. Simple, quick and clean. It can hold up to two bottles of toner. It comes shipped with two bottles worth of toner pre installed good for up to 5000 pages. It can print on both sides of a sheet of paper. It does this by almost ejecting the paper after printing one side and pulling it back in to do the print the other. The printer software gives you a selection of paper sizes and types to choose from. You have two types of print quality to choose from, Standard and Econo. Econo is standard print with white dots halftoning it. Again, I wouldn’t recommend using Econo mode when printing from a browser. Econo mode looked a lot better when printing something from MS Publisher. The build quality looks and feels very good. The back panel opens up for roller cleaning and clearing paper jams. You can hear it operating when printing but it’s not noisy in my opinion. Here’s what HP says about drum life. “The yield of imaging drum is approximately 50,000 single-sided pages (letter or A4 size paper). There are many factors that determine the actual drum useful life, such as temperature, humidity, type of paper, type of toner used and other variables. The imaging drum unit is replaceable through authorized service provider.” Conclusion: I think the 2504dw is a very good value for the price and ease of use for a basic black laser printer. Recommended.

One of the things we normally look for in the products we buy is the ease of use and first of all that it fulfills its purpose. This printer fulfills the above mentioned, from the unboxing it takes you step by step in a simple way to start printing as soon as possible. The printer is black ink only, is a compact size that can be placed on a table or next to a desktop pc, actually does not take up much space, it is easy to assemble as there is a quick guide that graphically explains the steps to follow. To connect the printer to a mobile device you need the HP smart app, if you want to print from other mobile devices you also need to install the app. From the HP app you connect the printer with the mobile device and send the printer link to allow other devices connect and use the printer, one of the features that I like is that once the printer is connected, you can print documents from virtually any app that allows remote printing. The quality of the prints is very good, the speed is one of the things that I like because I consider this printer is ideal for homeoffice and having a relatively small and very effective printer is one less concern. It is important to mention that it does not have a scanner or copier function, it only prints, hence the fact that it is compact and very easy to use. One of the things that I find very convenient is the ink tank that is designed to be refilled simply with a bottle that promises to print up to 50,000 pages if refilled with HP ink. It seems to me that this LaserJet Tank 2504dw printer is designed to be able to print in black and white constantly and you do not want to spend a lot on ink and time, it seems to me that the investment of buying this printer, is reflected in the long term with the savings in ink or cartridges. If you are looking for a fast printer, easy to use, that doesn’t use much space and can print many pages, this is certainly one of the best options, I’ve been very satisfied with this printer and I can definitely recommend it.

tl;dr It's a good printer with low per page costs and decently fast monochrome output. Printer makers have finally realized that people don’t want to buy lots of plastic cartridges full of toner every few months. HP marketed a “neverstop” printer last year which had a built in toner reservoir. This Tank printer is the next generation of that concept. The HP 2504dw kept the low operating cost concept from the Neverstop line with a per page cost of $0.006. They added auto duplexing and a slightly smaller footprint. Print speeds are relatively good. The first page came out in about 15 seconds with follow on pages being ~4 seconds each. Using double sided printing added a smaller overhead, but a very reasonable one. Printing a 12 page document single sided took 36 seconds vs 40 seconds for a double sided version. This works out to ~16 pages per minute. The speed will not blow you away, but when combined with the cost savings, I find it a more than acceptable trade off. HP requires a PC or phone app to set up the printer and configure it to your network. I chose the phone app and it worked smoothly. I had it up and running within 10 minutes of plugging it in. I had my choice of either a 2.4Ghz or 5 Ghz network. It would not work with WiFi 6 however. HP also includes an Ethernet jack on the back, if you want to wire it into your office or home network. Pressin the Info button for 3 sec followed by the resume button will print all the configuration information in order to connect your PC, phone, or tablet. The printer supports WiFi Direct, along with the more traditional methods. Print quality was as good as I’ve seen on any laser printer. Pages don’t curl when they come out, which is a nice perq. The paper path is not perfectly straight, but avoids too many tight turns. Printing was very sharp with no discernable jagged edges. The tray holds 250 sheets comfortably. HP claims the image drum life is 50,000 pages, which is 8.3 years if you print 500 pages per month. If your volume is significantly higher on a regular basis, you may want to weigh other options. On the one hand, HP doesn’t currently market a replacement drum kit or an easy way to replace it. On the other hand, the printer is under $400. If you consider that toner costs ~$0.02/page in other small business class printers, you’re still coming out ahead. ($340 toner + $320 printing vs $1,100 printing + $150 printer). If the printer proves as popular as I think it will, HP will certainly come out with a drum kit at a reasonable cost.

Saving money by easily pouring toner into the tank rather than inserting a cartridge? Brilliant. Inkjets printers have been doing it for awhile now, nice to see HP attempt with a Laser printer. Easy setup. Printed materials come off clean and crisp. My only complaint, if it is one, is the blacks are not black but a dark shade od grade. Someehat irritating to my OCD tendencies, but not a deal-killer. $149 is just right!

Tank you very much! I purchased this laserjet tank printer at best buy for half price on a Deal of the Day sale, so whatever expert reviews you read on the internet, just double the stars as those reviews were based on the full price. I've had several ink jet printers over the years, however, since I don't print documents everyday, sometimes going weeks or even months between ptinting sessions, the ink cartridges would dry up, or the print heads on the ink jet would get clogged and it would get expensive when I needed to print on an occasional basis. Problem solved with the laserjet 2504dw. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is connecting wirelessly via the HP Smart app could be challenging if you are not technically inclined.

Wake many folks working from home, I have spent a lot of money over the past couple years upgrading my home office. However, the one upgrade I failed to make was a decent primer beyond the all-in-one ink jet printer we already had in our house. That inkjet printer is an expensive choice (per page) when all I ever need to print are boring old black and white documents etc. So I decided to get a laser printer and this amazing HP LaserJet tank 2504 DW wireless black-and-white printer was exactly what my home work space was missing! Seriously: ever since I bought this printer I am able to work faster, right better, and have earned the accolades of corporate America. Highly recommend you take it for a spin.
