So the new HP Omen line stuff has come a long way from their normal slow crap stuff they've carried for years, even decades. HP to me was like owning a DELL, it just did what you needed it to do, but wasn't fast at it, just enough. Now that they have started to go into the gaming side of things, their products don't seem sluggish anymore and have pretty good specs. Now the only thing is too see if they will hold up and last for a decent amount of time. The specs on this specific one I was super happy with, was looking for something with close to the newest Ryzen CPU's, high core count, good clock speeds, decent ram (though I will be upgrading this to 16gb of ram), good ram clock speeds of 32000mhz, M.2 NvME hard drive makes it boot like the flash, and the 144hz ips screen is great. Did I mention it had RGB backlit keyboard keys lol.

I bought this laptop for my son for school and for gaming. It has great speed and color graphics. He really likes the color lighted keyboard. It has everything he needs for e-learning for school as well. Great computer for the money!

Excellent computer. A little loud sometimes but if that doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. Runs most games on high settings and I use it for editing video. Mind you I did upgrade ram to 32 GB

This is a fantastic gaming laptop. Other reviews cover heat dissipation, form factor / feel etc. Here are some of my thoughts. The Good: 1. Fastest CPU in a laptop at this price point! 2. Comes with a great SSD: WD SN730 NVMe. Almost Samsung 970 Plus performance. 3. Intel WiFi-6 AX200 WiFi. 4. 2 sticks of RAM for improved performance over 1 stick like Dell uses. Recommend replacing both sticks with 2 8GB modules. 5. 144Hz LCD is nice. The Almost Negative Part: I learned that for some reason, Ryzen only has PCIe X8 for graphics. Some say this is not an issue, but this laptop with the nVidia 1660ti definitely scores lower than other Intel-based laptops with the same GPU. The GPU is fine for most games even at high settings. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 will bring it to its knees when you try to run Ultra settings even though it is at 1080p.

Bought this prior to a long work trip so I could have a gaming laptop. No issues. Performance is great and the display looks sharp and bright. It doesn't feel like the most rugged piece of equipment so I would hesitate to use it as a field work computer where it might get bumped around a lot, but that's not really what it's designed for. Also, I'm not crazy about the touchpad, and the built-in speakers are so so, but for any gaming you should really plan on hooking up a mouse and a nice set of headphones anyway so those two things don't really matter. Side note: I did upgrade the ram after I purchased to 16GB but it arguably was not really necessary to do so.

I bought this based on the low price during Cyber Monday, and also on the number of high ratings in the user reviews online. I am really glad I did because it works perfectly, as smooth as butter. The Ryzen 7 has a Passmark rating of over 19,000, and the dedicated video card is mid-range with high ratings as well. Even though this version has only 8GB of memory, the dedicated video card means that there is no shared video memory as with integrated video. The keyboard feels really good as well, and the touchpad is accurate and responsive. I am not a fan of HP in general, but this represents one of their higher-quality products, so I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Wonderful laptop, have been using it since the past 7 months regressively. I am very much satisfied with the specs it provides with the price. Bought it for 1150 and it's toally worth it. Boot up speed is very good. Liked the way Omen has allowed the user to control the fan, so you can change it according to the performance you want. Also, even though it does not have a per key rgb light system, Omen light Studio does have something you play with. Few concerns, keys are not as great like the other gaming laptops. One key did pop out, but when I pushed it back, it worked fine as of now. Battery backup is not upto the mark.

I waited over a year to find the perfect laptop for my needs. Got this model, open box- certified for under $800 during black Friday sale. I could not be happier with it's performance nearly a year later. Screen is bright and fast, speed is excellent and the fans rarely if ever spin up unless playing a game or heavy media use. They can get loud but the airflow is superb and even at full loud stays cool. It's also shown durability after my cat knocked over my tv and it crashed directly ontop this unit. Due to the screen hinges naturally opening 90degrees there was no damage whatsoever.

Very pleased with the laptop. I'm using it for photo and video editing and it processes the videos about 1/2 the time of the length of the video (a 5 minute 4K video takes about 2.5 minutes to export). I had some blue screens related to the NVIDIA drivers but that was when I was using a USB C dock with HDMI out; after updating the drivers and not using the USB C dock, I have not had blue screen. The fan stays off if I'm using the laptop for light work like web browsing, it will hum quietly for medium workloads and during video or image processing, the fan will get loud which is expected for any gaming laptop. The only drawback is the sharp edge where my palms rest but because I use the laptop connected to external keyboard most of the time, it's not a deal breaker for me. I'd also recommending upgrading the RAM if you are doing video editing. Love the RGB keyboard lighting. Overall very compact and portable laptop for all the powers it offers. Battery life is great too for average workloads.

This review should be 3 stars but the machine really is incredibly powerful for the price I paid, but there was SOOOO much software on the computer and it Just GRrrrrrrZ me off that I had to uninstall software McAfee for example that was basically ransomeware without the note... but whatever. If you buy this machine you'll want to buy two 16GB RAM cards along with it to upgrade the RAM to 32GB. If you're transitioning from a mac, you will notice the MASSIVE difference in quality of the screen compared to a MacBook Pro, but apple has been treating me like mud lately so they can go F themselves.

I bought this open box - fair condition ($~800), so I got it for a really good price. The only issue with it I had was it was missing the down arrow key (hence open box-fair condition). I have not been able to find a replacement key yet, so that is somewhat frustrating. That said, the laptop works great. I am able to play Rainbow Six Siege on high settings, FHD @ 144fps on the go, which is awesome. I have been pleasantly surprised with the 1660ti, and you cannot go wrong with a Ryzen 7 CPU. I recommend buying some SODIMM RAM and upgrading it from 8gb to either 16gb or 32gb to improve performance.

I got this bad boy for $850 as a special during the holidays. I had an alienware 17 in from 2017 and have put a lot of miles on it. Been wanting to build but was waiting till my alienware died. Well it died and graphics cards were unavailable, so I wanted an in between purchase and I am stunned at the amazing power of this laptop. All my games and programs run smoothly. I like that I can expand the memory and the storage if I so choose. It is super mobile. The fans are a little loud but that does not bother me, but I do know some find that unacceptable.

Its plays the games that I enjoy playing. It runs For Honor on high graphics 110+ frames or on very high 90+ fps. Can run Mordhau at 100+ FPS on high and 80+fps on very high. Was a great purchase, it can be hard to hear the speakers when the fan is running, but I use headphones so isn't an issue. It also stays pretty cool, but the charger block does get pretty hot when gaming (If you dont have the charger plugged in while gaming you'll get 30fps or less but im pretty sure that goes for most laptops.)

    Amateur Gamer Review

I want to preface this by saying I got this for about 400 off, for 850. Also, I previously owned a Acer Nitro 5 that really couldn't run games it should have on paper. I have had this laptop for 5 days, and the most amazing thing is how quiet this beast is. It ran Valorant max settings while I was streaming on discord at 144 frames, while also being quiet. It can play metro 2033 Redux at the highest setting, and it just looks so clean! The laptop itself doesn't scream gaming, and so you don't feel terrible taking it to work or school. Oh, also it runs LoL on over 200 frames at max settings. I haven't really tried to stream on twitch with this guy yet, but I have a feeling it really shouldn't be a problem. Now, it does kind of suck it only had 8 ram, and there are still some junk installed with it. I think you should never turn on the omen gaming app, just keep it around for keyboard lighting or w/e but never use it in game. You lose a couple frames but most importantly, if you have terrible wifi, you lag. The lack of ram does make it a bit harder to play certain mods on minecraft, but I imagine it isn't too difficult to upgrade. The screen is a bit flimsy though, so you have to be careful with that. The build quality doesn't seem extremely durable, so make sure you don't drop this thing. You can also uninstall the audio overlay thing, it already has what every other laptop has in it. I kind of wish it had more usb slots, but it does have a usb c type on the side, which I'm not sure I will ever use, but I imagine it would be useful for some. I kinda wish it had more storage, but I honestly don't play a lot of different games so it hasn't been an issue for me. Overall, I know I have only owned it for about 5 days, but I have been using it to the full for the last week. About 14 hours a day, and it honestly runs cool at the end of it. It seems they cut down on a couple things that seem to fit me, only 8 ram, Half a TB storage as well as arguably flimsy build with non-typical gaming laptop design. But it runs every game perfectly without heating up, streaming on discord seems to drop almost zero frames, it lights up if you want it, amazing 144hz display(especially the fps in most games to actually use it!), as well as a sleek minimalist design you aren't embarrassed to use outside of your home. I can download most games that I have that also don't use that much ram without worrying about my laptop heating up or losing frames at any point during my sessions. Its really impressive how long it stays cool! If this thing is ever on sale again, definitely buy with confidence! It's worth every bit!

The HP Omen 15 with ryzen 7 4800H and 1660ti combo is a great option if you can find it on sale. Pros: -phenomenal cooling, best in class as far as mid tier Ryzen laptops go - great screen with good response time. -Upgradeable Ram and free extra m2 slot for future proofing. -Lots of ports -subtle design(No RGB lights that scream gamer other than the keyboard which can be turned off.) Cons: - major design flaw, terrible screen flex that occurs when the laptop is CLOSED. Seeing as the screen isn't glass I'm not worried about anything short term but I'm confident that commuters and people who move their laptops often will have issues down the road. Summary: Ultimately at full price I don't know if I could recommend this laptop. On sale however, I can say that this machine performs way above its mid tier structure. If you are extremely careful with your electronics or plan on using this mostly at home, it is a steal(when on sale).

This laptop exceeded every expectation I had. I went in for a different laptop, but saw the keyboard and screen and knew this was the one. The screen size is perfect for me and looks brilliant. It plays Final Fantasy 14 and The Old Republic with no issues. My only complaint is the amount of memory, but that is an easy fix. Highly recommended if you aren’t looking for a high end gaming laptop. This laptop will get the job done and more.

A serious gripe - and that is the trackpad build quality. It is raised on the left side by a millimeter. In terms of overall quality though, HP laptops have come along miles in the past couple years. They have clearly been making an effort to stay competitive. I'm really enjoying this piece of hardware. The power to energy consumption ratio is the best I've ever experienced from a laptop thanks to the Ryzen chip. The screen is very smooth and it has great colors. They keyboard has excellent travel in my opinion. Some don't like it. Seems like keyboard experience is very subjective these days. The fold is excellent as well, and it has a nice "click" when you close it shut. There seems to be some kind of magnetization going on there. It does pop up one-handed too. The aluminum deck is very nice, although I do wish the rest of it would be made the with the same. Oh I have one more gripe. The sound is atrocious. My LG g7 has better sound than this laptop. I don't understand it. You have all this real-estate to tweak the sound hardware yet it remains on the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality. I can think of a thousand ways to easily improve it yet when you open the machine up it becomes evident that there was clearly no effort by the manufacturer to do so. I suppose they think that branding it with "Bang & Olufsen" on the deck will do the trick. Very silly. Other than that It's beautiful.

Fantastic laptop. Top notch CPU and build. Other reviews have talked about the fan being loud (it can be when being pushed) and the flimsiness of the screen (a little bit, but I’m not picking it up by the screen). The aluminum body is strong, but can be a bit sharp on the wrists. All of these things are minor issues compared to the power and performance of the laptop.
