Customers are positive about the laptop's performance, design, and speed, with many praising its smooth gaming capabilities and sleek aesthetics. However, customers are negative about the battery life and fan noise, citing these as significant drawbacks. Some users also reported issues with screen quality and heat generation. Overall, the positive aspects of performance and design seem to outweigh the negative feedback regarding battery life and other minor issues for many users.

Model I have is Rtx 3070 and i7 10750 5.0 ghz So I've had this for about a week and I'm blown away! With some gpu and windows optimization I was able to run Black Ops cold war at 160-240fps at 73c bf4 at 200 fps rocket league at 250 this Gaming laptop is the bast bang for your buck only down side is the 500gb ssd which is easy to upgrade. This is using the 1080 300hz gsync laptop screen

This is a fun little laptop! I should have held out for a 17 inch but with an external monitor it's a gaming beast. I primarily play Warzone and Omen gets as many frames as my 3080. Make sure to get a mini-display to display port cable. I also added a 1TB NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 because 500GB isn't enough and the one that came with it was Gen3 (see pics). Back of laptop comes off easily.
Only complaints I have and why I didn't give it 5 stars: FEDEX sucks for shipping and I paid extra to have it delivered at earliest date. Laptop was late and I wish companies wouldn't use them. The stickers on the laptop aren't aligned correctly which is more a quality problem (see pics).

Better than I expected! I really though that the 10750H was going to be a huge bottleneck for the 3070 Max-Q, but so far, it is on par with the Ryzen 5 3600 I have on my current PC. I was looking to purchase this laptop to replace my ~$800 PC and I am satisfied! I don't like the fact that it only came with 512GB of storage, but I do like that they have an additional M.2 slot for another SSD. I bought a 1TB Samsung SSD for this laptop and upgrading is fairly easy and only took me 5 minutes.
Fans do get impressively fast and loud, but are only at its fastest when Performance mode is turned on. For games older than 3 years, leaving the mode on Comfort will still yield high frames per second with quiet fans and low CPU temperature.
If you do get this laptop, I highly suggest installing ThrottleStop, as the current CPU configuration has BD PROCHOT enabled, which throttles the CPU, even if the CPU temperature is only at 75 degrees. I've always had this program running and monitored the CPU temperature and it never surpassed 80 degrees on older games, and 92 degrees on more demanding games with the fan speed on auto. Without ThrottleStop, I've experienced a lot of stuttering with FPS ranging from 15 to 200 frames in Black Ops Cold War, which is a very odd feeling.
Build quality is excellent, except for the fact that the screen casing is made out of very flexible plastic. I don't really mind though because it is mostly on my desk. I haven't had the opportunity to travel with this PC yet, and the flexible screen may cause an issue when in my backpack.
The 300Hz 1080p panel is AMAZING. Low latency, OLED Screen for darker blacks, and 1080p is sufficient for a 15 inch laptop. The i7 and 3070 is great for competitive titles especially with the 300Hz screen.
For portable use, HP really makes it easy for you to squeeze as many hours as it can to bring this laptop on the go. In the OMEN Gaming Hub app which is preinstalled, you can switch between the integrated graphics and the 3070. I'd also change the refresh rate to 60 or 100 Hz so that the monitor isn't eating battery so quickly. Keyboard has a fantastic layout as it is the same layout as my desktop keyboard. It also has all of the Media functions, lit up in LED so I don't have to tab out of what every I am doing to change a song on Spotify.
I really hope that there are no issues with this laptop down the road, as I am really happy with this purchase. This laptop is a great replacement for my desktop and laptop, which combined is more than what this laptop costs.

I bought this laptop after my desktop had an issue in early April. I was worried because my desktop, while dated, was still a contender when it came to modern AAA games (2700x and GTX 1080). I also happened to keep a lot of storage, roughly around 5TB of storage for games and whatnot. Having had gaming laptops before I knew what specs I'd be looking for-deciding that the new RTX 3000 series would be the best fit. While I wanted to wait for the new Ryzen variant I needed something sooner than later. The similar ROG models were all sold out, so after seeing some reviews I decided to buy this one.
The laptop itself is great! I love the minimal look that HP decided to take into the design. The screen is also fantastic and puts my 1080p 144hz 24 inch G-Sync to shame. That being said, I use it like a desktop. It seldom travels with me from my desk and I mostly keep it hooked up to external peripherals. I went to Microcenter and purchased two M.2 2TB Nvme SSDs and a Cooler Master slim cooling pad/stand. The cooling on this laptop is already great, but since it wasn't going to be moving much I decided to go ahead and beef it up.
After a few months I still love this thing! I even got my desktop working again but still insist on using the laptop. The 3070 Max-Q and i7 deliver more than enough for most games. Adding the extra storage really helped turn this thing into a beast. My only woe is that I'm not a big fan of HP's Omen Hub being a windows store app instead of it's own application, but it still works fine.
Another note is that shortly after I bought this laptop, some of the HP bloatware made the UEFI update and softlock my computer. This is an HP thing and not limited to this laptop. I HIGHLY recommend uninstalling most off the bloat that it comes with (except for Omen hub and anything that doesn't auto update). Thankfully it wasn't a hard fix, but it definitely was an unwelcome surprise to wake up to.
Overall, I highly recommend this laptop!

I bought this for my Son about a month ago and so far everything is working well. We upgraded the Ram to 32gb and added a Samsung 2tb 970 drive to the second M.2 slot. The upgrades were easy and simple to accomplish. The laptop maintains high frame rates for his games, overwatch, RB6, league of legends etc. The monitor refresh rate is high and the gameplay is buttery smooth. I only wish it had a 1440P panel vs 1080P. It’s a bit loud, but all laptops running this type of hardware are. We got the Bose QC2 35s to help deal with the noise the fans make. It gets hot too, but does not thermal throttle. The keyboard gets warm, but not uncomfortably warm and I would say this isn’t a laptop you would use on your lap when gaming. However, you can switch the laptop to use the GPU on the processor, which helps a lot with keeping things cool when not gaming. All in all, it’s a decent laptop for the price and he seems happy with it.

I've bought this laptop a few days ago. So far, I've tested with a few games to see how well the performance was and it runs pretty smooth when the settings are at the highest on certain 3D graphics games that are similar to Halo.
I did play around a bit with the different options that the Omen hub has. which gave me the thought of recommending to leave the graphics switcher set to the way it is and also set the FPS from 300 to 60, as it will still perform well at the setting and save battery.
A few cons to mention:
The screen does feel a bit flexible and quite easy to press down. So, unless there is some hardcover protection or (maybe) some rubber padding to help, I would advise taking great care and caution when putting it against something heavy or pressing down it too hard.
I dunno if it’s just those ports, but, the USB port felt really tight to push my mouse receiver in. Even when plugging into the port to charge it, you would think that is plugged in but you have to give it a good push with your finger to get it in all the way.
As for the fans, I’ve run it through a fan speed test and noticed how loud the fans can, like super loud when performing the test. I would suggest getting a cooling pad that can fit on this 15.6-inch laptop and an adjustable height.
And the volume of the audio doesn’t stay at where it is set after the restart, so keep that in mind.
Overall it is great for performance that this laptop can bring for an Nvidia RTX 3070 and well worth the price if you don't want to spend too much for a gaming laptop and have features that can be upgraded, such as the RAM and/or an NVMe SSD.

The games hold up nicely. I personally love HP OMEN laptops and desktops
I will be uploading the gameplay or frame stuff to my youtube soon (eventually) @ BkzReaper if you want to see the frame numbers on games but keep in mind capturing gameplay lowers the frames a bit. will upload soon. This is good for portable gaming.
warzone
Resurgence: High/Ultra = 170-180 frames
Verdanse: high= 130-150 ultra= 90-100 fps, medium= 150-170fps
FORTNITE
150-200fps high to ultra - but will stutter at times, the HD textures you can download don't make a difference. You can tweak with nvidea stuff
Many other games have over 100 to 200 frames.
** Except horribly performing games like Assassins odyssey you will get like 70 to 90 frames no matter the settings**
PROS:
Good performance on all games easily hitting 200 frames.
Good fan system but also get a fan stand under incase.
Doesn't get warm or hot unless you have the fans under covered.
The keys feel fine and screen quality is great
CONS:
1) Battery doesn't last too long, sometimes 1hr before needing charge. Might have to lower screen htz from 300 to 60 and switch everything to power save and not performance to get the description hours of use.
2) Sometimes the w,a,s,d keys will lock during gameplay causing you to be stuck in place. Rarely happens but when it does during warzone it's the worst timing.
3) The lack of storage with todays games like call of duty is terrible.
4) The laptop will randomly shut off if you are connected with HDMI while streaming with webcam and microphone.

I have a xbox series x and i like this better
I did make a few upgrades. It had 16 GBs ram so i maxed it out with 32gbs.
It also comes with a second NVme sata drive slot. So i added a faster and larger drive. Not that the one that comes with it is bad.
In portable mode my the battery is ok at best. I would also say the screen is not as bright as i like but its is portable.
When im home i connect it to a LG OLED with 120hz refresh. Amazing.
Its benches strong out of the box but there is room for improvment if you are into that. I am.
ive had it a month at this time and im happy with it. No regrets.
Desktop is still king. I told my wife this is a "work laptop"
Happy gaming!

I actually own this laptop and have been using it for about 3 months now. It is by far, the best laptop i have owned. and i have owned 5 not including this one. I have always had trouble with FPS and Cooling on all other Laptops due to power leaks and poor build qualities. This one has none of those issues. and i won't lie, it gets really loud, but i constantly wear Headphones so it is basically a non issue for me, as well as the keyboard and mouse, as i use a docking station and external peripherals. Also the screen looks amazing but i also hook up to my Terrible Viewsonic VG2455-2k monitor. 60hz and (oh god) 15ms response, and even there video is crisp and clear and at medium settings, on all but Raytracing in COD Coldwar, i can still get up to 113 FPS. which compared to previous machines is amazing. i just thought i would write this little blurb up for everyone to see and you can always direct questions to me if you have any. Overall i would say this machine is well worth the money, the Screen is great, the performance is great, i would only say 3 cons would be that its loud at high performance, The mouse pad is kinda jank, and the speakers are not up to par for a laptop of this quality.

This is an amazing gaming machine. It has been nothing but reliable since I bought it over 2 years ago. The only issue I have had is that the keyboard has worn lines in the screen because I don't keep a cloth in there. Otherwise it's cranking along in Starfield on high settings with no issues.
I love it so much I bought an HP Omen home PC instead of building a new gaming rig last year.

This laptop is a beast, and exceeded my expectations and then some. I bought it a few years back when it came out. Still runs strong and I have no issue running any games, including Star Citizen. Only down side is the battery life, but you can tweak it in the Omens Settings very particularly. I’m very happy with my purchase

This is a great laptop for its price!
Pros:
+ It is not that hot as the other laptops. I was able to play Cold of Duty WWII for 2 hrs with laptop on my lap while sitting on the couch (playing at the desk after a day working at it - nahh!). I am not entirely sure what made the difference but my guess it is all - the good cooling system, the factory tuning, the new 8nm tech process of rtx30 series. Compared to Alienware M15 with 2070s this is super cold and quiet.
+ Good screen. 300Hz and it is on a brighter side (also brighter than the Alienware M15 R3).
+ Mux switch - you can switch between hybrid mode (NVIDIA Optimus which automatically chooses which graphics card to use (intel or discrete) on the go but takes a cut of performance) or discrete GPU only, right in the Omen Control center (requires reboot)
+ Good upgradability - no soldered RAM (has 2 slots), easy to open.
+ It is small enough, the power supply is compact (~2 times smaller than Alienware's)
+ Keyboard and the touchbar are okay. I personally liked Alienware's kb more but this is just me. The touchpad... well, compared to macbook's all other touchpads are terrible. But this one is better than the Alienware's at least (no drops while sliding with the fingers).
+ I like the design. A good touch of the reflecting omen logo on the back
+ Hinges can get the screen all the way back (better when gaming on your lap)
Cons:
- Plastic feel - it's not terrible. Just some flex on top and the bottom. Inside is good - the main surface is aluminum. At the same time plastic on the bottom feels cold all the time (good for you lap lol)
- Some wobbling in the screen hinges (but no backlash!)
- A bit too angular on the bottom - I would appreciate a little more rounded edges here and there but this is minor. On the other side - a plastic grill on the bottom really helps with cooling when not on a hard surface.
And the main thing, I hope it was just my sample so don't taking it into account when giving 5 stars - I had difficulties with installing some Windows updates and the games from Xbox Game Pass. Spent a couple of days googling the error codes and trying to solve it and another day sharing a screen with Microsoft support trying to resolve it. Tried to reset windows multiple times from local disk and from cloud - nothing helped. Still not sure if it is a software issue (McAfee, ExpressVPN that come with the laptop) or the hardware. I think the latter as I tried to clean up Windows from the bloatware. Could be a RAM issue of some kind. Result: returned to BestBuy, going to get another open box again.

I wanted a laptop with the RTX 3070 video card. I looked at a bunch of different options in person, but the Omen laptops just struck me as better quality. While I do intend to use this for gaming among other things, I wasn't interested in the gaming laptop appearance and the look of the Omen 15 really appealed to me.
The cooling system in this laptop also seems to be quite good, which was a concern for me when shopping for a laptop. The fans CAN be loud, but generally aren't. However if you really punish it with a high end game, the fans do crank up, but that's the price you pay for generally cooler temps than other laptops. When manually set to MAX, the fans in this laptop really crank some air, and they're quite loud. That said, I will take loud fans over high temps every time, as that's literally the point of the fans. The cooling system in this laptop seems to be on the higher end of what you find in gaming laptops, it really seems to do a great job.
The RTX 3070 graphics in this laptop is no slouch. Despite being the lower TDP Max-Q style, it still does very well and runs a bit cooler. I would have liked to get a Ryzen based CPU instead, but wasn't able to find one in the time frame needed at the price I wanted. At the time of purchase, I could have gotten a Ryzen CPU but would have had to get the RTX 3060 graphics instead, or waited a month for HP to build and ship it. So I opted for the better graphics and slightly slower processer and settled for this one. While the Ryzen model would have likely been a bit faster and likely run a little cooler, this one is still very good and I am happy with my choice.
This gaming laptop will get it done, but without all the gaming laptop looks. It looks pretty subdued with just the classy looking Omen emblem, which I like very much. You can certainly RGB the heck out of the lighted keyboard though if that's what you're in to.
As far as downsides, it's a little on the heavy side, and battery life isn't great. That said, I don't think it's fair to expect hardware of this caliber to run very long on a puny laptop battery. The 200w power brick gets quite hot under very high load, and is probably a bit underpowered for this machine, but it does the job. If you are serious about needing battery life, I think you could probably get 4-5 hours out of it by closing unnecessary software, dimming the screen and doing all the usual things. You can also switch to Hybrid mode to allow it to use integrated graphics when needed. So, battery life can be descent, but it needs to be configured appropriately, and those settings are generally the opposite of what you would want for maximum performance gaming. There are powerful, and power hungry components in this laptop. The choice between battery life and performance is up to you, but if your number one concern is battery life, this probably isn't the best laptop for you.
Bottom line is it runs fast, stays cool, seems to be a quality build and has pretty descent software. Despite the weight and battery life, I really like it and would buy it again. Just bear in mind that it was designed for a different purpose than your thin-and-light laptop that lasts for 10 hours on battery. If you're looking for a descent buy on a good quality, cooling running laptop that will let you play most games on very high or ultra settings with descent framerates... this might be the one for you.

I was in the market for a high end 3000 series laptop. Had my eye on several models. Best Buy had one on open box and I jumped on it. Couldn't be happier!
Screen is amazing 300 refresh rate. Looks buttery smooth with rocket league.
Control with RTX on looks stunning on this machine. I also hooked up my 27 inch screen through display port and end up using this laptop as a desktop. It's super nice to have the option of having a desktop that I can unplug and move to another spot quickly.
The laptop is also really light. Another thing I really like about it is how easy it is to upgrade. I plan on adding more ssd and from all the videos I watched, it should be very easy to do so.
Overall I am really happy with the omen laptop and loom forward to many years of gaming on it.
