I purchased the HP OMEN 16.1-inch QHD Gaming Laptop, and I must say, it's been an exceptional experience. This laptop is powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor and has 16GB of memory, making it incredibly fast and efficient. I use it for both gaming and work, and it has never let me down.
The standout feature for me is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. The games look amazing, with sharp graphics and vibrant colors. It's also been a game-changer for my graphic design projects, handling complex software with ease.
The 1TB SSD is a massive plus, offering plenty of storage space and ensuring that my games and applications load quickly. The build quality is solid, and the Shadow Black finish gives it a sleek and professional look, which I really appreciate.
I'm also impressed with the keyboard – it's comfortable for long gaming sessions and typing. The cooling system deserves a mention too; it keeps the laptop cool, preventing any overheating issues.
In terms of battery life, while it's not all-day, it's sufficient for several hours of gaming or work. I usually keep my charger handy for longer sessions.
Considering the high-end specs, the laptop was definitely a significant investment, but it's worth every penny for the performance and reliability it offers.
Overall, I'm thrilled with my HP OMEN laptop. It's a powerhouse for gaming and professional work, blending performance, durability, and style seamlessly.

This is a really nice laptop. I use it for photo design using Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024, and music production, Hip Hop/Rap music using FL Studio. It’s really fast and seems like it has good graphics for gaming, videos, etc. if that’s what you’re into. For music production it gets the job done very well. The only problem is the fan can get really loud and it can get a little hot, which I assume is normal for a gaming laptop. The power button is kinda in a funny place too. Not much of a problem though, to be honest. Really good laptop.

I purchased this laptop to replace a five year old gaming laptop that had gotten really slow and didn’t have enough memory to support games or even simple tasks.
So far this HP Omen has been nothing short of amazing! It boots up in seconds, I can surf the web, stream videos, and multitask with barely any wait. Most importantly it can handle my most played games like Assassin’s Creed and even a very mod heavy version of the Sims 4 without lag or long loading times . The only thing I cannot comment on yet is the battery life since I always keep my laptop plugged in. Yet overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase .
I’ll see how it holds up over the next few years .

Sometimes it Really is Just Your Wi-Fi

The TLDR is that I really like this computer. The hardware is fairly good for the price I got it at (on sale for $1,100). The fans are slightly louder than I would like, but that is easy to get past with a good set of headphones. Since buying the computer, I have really only played Diablo 4 on max graphics and done some mild photo processing. It has worked flawlessly during each. The refresh rate and QHD screen is the true seller on this computer. One con to owning the black computer is that it is a serious finger print magnet, but that is somewhat to be expected.
Now for story time. I started off being really upset with this computer because I thought I purchased a brick. Within the first day of buying this computer, I wasn't able to download anything. I would get terrible download speeds as low as 100kb/s and it would just tank down until the download speed would hit 0 and just stop. I was convinced that it was due to the computer and not my home Wi-Fi because everything else in my house was running just fine. I also attempted to try it on my phone hotspot and got the same results. I ended up taking it to Best Buy and on their Wi-Fi I was able to download fine. I took it home and ran into the same issue so I gave in and reset my router. I have had ZERO issues since. I am mostly making this review to help anyone who was ignorant like I was because sometimes it IS just your Wi-Fi that is the issue.

I love it! The battery life is super low make sure to put it in hybrid mode when out and about especially for college or work. Gaming is awesome and enjoyable vr is definitely playable for any quest users out there! I got this laptop as a replacement for my failed Asus Rog strix advantage edition although the rtx 3060 is slower on this laptop can achieve what that laptop did with lower temperatures at least from my experience this laptop stays around 30-79° while my old one was always at 99-100° this is while gaming especially vr! The keyboard and rgb aren't per key but they still are customizable the feeling of the keyboard is cherry like NOT mechanical but smooth like one very satisfying to push down. The screen is bright and buttery smooth although not as vibrant as the ROG although the i9 12gen does out perform the Ryzen 9 5900hx while in unity for vr chat or blender if that's your thing. If you are an eSports gamer I would suggest a laptop with a better GPU although this will get you 200fps in Fortnite on epic settings with dlss black desert at remastered gets around 90fps with fsr all in all this laptop does it all plays games really well the big vent in the bottom surprising doesn't pick up as much dust as the ROG. The only drawback id say is the speakers are dog doo Doo they are branded BANG & OLUFSEN although they are only tuned by them and can sound tiny at max volume. Although at 72% they sounds just fine I still would recommend headphones or a speaker system in case this is replacing your home desktop as well otherwise this laptop is golden what your paying for this that I9 which works really well in thai system plus with thunderbolt you can always install a egpu and get even more out of this laptop although as is it's more than enough for gaming only being 40fps lower than my new rx6900xt desktop in 1440p 165hz resolution which isn't much when the laptop is already getting over 140fps

Good laptop. Play games my old one wouldn’t run anymore such as Primal Carnage and Warframe. Fans run loud but headphones or turning up the volume fixes that. Speakers seem to be kinda mediocre but again, headphones exist. A bit concerned about battery life based on other reviews but we’ll see. Keyboard backlights are cool. Much lighter weight than my previous Omen as well

It offers excellent value for money, and one of its standout features is the presence of two Thunderbolt 4 USB ports (easily connect high-resolution external monitors and blazing-fast data transfer speeds). Additionally, it comes with two slots for M.2 PCIe Gen 3 and Gen 4, which means expandable storage options are readily available. Another advantage is the ability to upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 64GB. Furthermore, it's worth noting that it boasts 6GB of dedicated video memory, which enhances its gaming and graphics performance. What's more, it handles temperature exceptionally well and doesn't experience excessive overheating. Overall, I'm highly satisfied with this laptop.

it’s been about two weeks since i got it and it’s a pretty darn good laptop. i absolutely love the monitor that gives you 1440p and great quality picture. if there was one con about this pc, it would the speakers. they are probably some of worst quality speakers i’ve heard on a laptop with these kinds of top notch specs it has to begin, again not the biggest thing since you can simply apply headphones and the problem goes away but in those times you can’t, it does become a little tiring hearing the quality of those speakers

I've always built my own gaming desktop pc but got tired of lugging it up and down the stairs to connect to the TV to play on the big screen. I did a lot of research and came across this Omen PC by HP which i never knew existed before buying it.
I've had HP laptops for years that have treated me well. I was going to buy a new 2in1 Envy but figured if i spent $200 more i can play games too.
This pc is a little heavy at 5.19 lbs and has the biggest laptop power supply (280w) that i have ever seen.
The QHD screen with high refresh rate is good quality, but i don't see the difference on a 16.1" screen between 1080p and 1440. like most others, I connect it to a larger screen or TV. It has the feel of a quality laptop even though there are plastic parts.
The i9-12900H CPU is probably overkill for this, but it is the best of the 12th gen laptop cpus. The RTX 3060 is in the middle and performs decently well. I was able to play hogwart's legacy on medium and Forza Horizon 5 in 4k at high settings.
The laptop definitely gets hot when gaming, but the fans do a good job keeping the GPU under 71 degrees C. The fans aren't crazy loud as others have noted, but i don't hear them over the game or headphones anyway.
The battery is pretty dismal and won't last more than 2.5 hours. So the claims of up to 6.5 hours in the specs are way off. I will have this plugged in most of the time anyway.
The SSD is a micron SSD and gives excellent xfer speeds or 6gbps. See the screenshot. It was easy to open and add a 2nd ssd and the RAM can be doubled to 32GB when you are ready.
Some cons but not deal breakers:
--the matte finish is a fingerprint magnet. why didn't they include a microfiber cloth for this price machine?
--no HDD activity light. I got used to having this on other machines
--Power button placement is strange. You have to open it to turn it on
--heavy power brick
--power cable on back is too close to HDMI connection
--Windows 11 eats a lot of RAM. this would definitely benefit with 32GB
--would love a touch screen, but it's not common for gaming laptops
--Screen is a plastic case, so it's a little flimsy. Don't pick it up by the screen
Can you get better, sure! Can you find newer versions, of course! but for $999+tax, it's definitely worth it for a 2022 laptop model with great specs that should be able to keep us gamers happy for a few years before we get the upgrade itch.
I'm happy so far and weighing the price i paid for what i got. I will not be utilizing bestbuy's return policy :)

So far I love this laptop, plenty of CPU and GPU power. For those who expect a super duper battery and really quiet laptop be real with your expectations, it is a demanding power hungry laptop considering the specs, so i mainly use it plugged in while gaming and off the charger for everyday use. It can definitely game on the battery but just not for long periods unless it is a game that doesn’t demand too much power. I also run the fans on high to keep the laptop cool and the fans definitely work really well. Just make sure to have a clean surface as it is an open grill design to suck in as much air as possible. I got this laptop on sale for $939+ tax which is a steal!

The HP Omen 16.1" Gaming Laptop is amazing! I upgraded from an HP Omen 17" gaming laptop and this new one is faster, quieter, more power efficient and a pleasure to use for both business and pleasure. Games run very well, without stuttering, at ultra graphics settings. The customizable keyboard lighting is very nice, as well. And transferring from my previous laptop was simple. The price was extremely reasonable!

Great laptop. From what I’ve tested can run everything 60+ frames. Battery gets a little hot, around 150+ Fahrenheit, but that’s expected. Battery life is also very short, be warned.
