I love this laptop !!!
The one star reviews almost made not purchase this item due to what was said in their reviews that I find to be red flags. But I can say everything works smooth for me (but that doesn’t mean they were lying just because I don’t have the same issues as them). Key notes !!!!
1. Yes the gpu is the 115 watt version
2. Rtx 3070 8gb ram version
3. Temps are really good if tweak some stuff
4. The software is really good
5. Yes the screen does wobble because the top half is heavy while the bottom is lite so it’s not balanced well
6. The speaker are good but bass sucks
7. My trackpad works just fine no issues
* The fans are loud and when in idle the fans has this high pitch noise that drove me crazy until I fixed fan curves to where I wanted it at and the pitch noise is gone
Overall this laptop is a beast I’m playing Doom at 1440p high settings, cpu undervolt, and on balanced power and I’m getting 144 fps with the temps cpu 76 degrees and gpu around 70 degrees as well.

This is THE BEST GAMING LAPTOP Best Buy has at its price point! $1499 is a steal and even at regular price I stand by my statement in terms of performance and value! I come have been through the horrible HP Omen 15 (3070) MSI G76 (3070), Razer 14 (3070), Gigabyte 15 (3080), Asus m15 i9 and Ryzen 9
Versions (3060 & 3070), Asus Rog Strix 17 inch (3060 my favorite) and this Laptop right here should be laptop of year in this price range. The Hinges are solid on this build and many people seem to care about that. Keyboard is well lit and the function key shortcuts are lit as well! (The little things) The screen is sharper than any of the above I mentioned granted they were all fhd so comparing isn’t fair! I work on dual QHD monitors and game on a 4k Sony and on Max settings it handles everything I’ve thrown at it. Fan noise is normal in terms of gaming and thermals are pretty good as well! Battery life (no gaming) gave me about 3-4 hours of web browsing and work not phenomenal but that works for me. The Gen 4 Drive and Ram expandable to 64gb gives room to run as a workstation as it can definitely handle it! Not as heavy as anticipated and the White finish is different

I've been running this badboy for 2yr+ at this point, and it is as strong as ever. This laptop handles it all and stays cool with its strong thermal layout. Might not be able to run all the latest titles at Ultra, but it can handle pretty much anything pre-2016 on Ultra and most recent releases on medium-high settings. Frankly I rarely notice the difference. I love this beast. My only complaint is that the battery has always had a short runtime, but I'm always on shore-power and I use performance-maximizing settings even on battery.

i drove an hour to pick it up and it was about the worst computer ive ever had.
Build quality is extremely lacking, touchpad has massive problems, they have soft plastic shells, the low blue light screens are yellow tinted and can’t be fixed in settings, the battery life is worst in its class among other things it’s a nightmare.
The reality is everything is "good enough" if you make it. The only real killer deal breaker for me on the omen 16 line up both the black 3060 version and ceramic white 3070 one is that the track pad literally doesn’t function half the time (look up some posts about this there is some work around like Fn+f7 or something to turn it off and back on). It might work off the bat but eventually a few hours in it will stop and if you look it up it’s hardware not driver or software.
That mixed with constant driver issues, errors trying to open the omen hub in a pop up dos window and failing drivers, blue screens over multiple tries on the omen lineup and the absolutely TERRIBLE battery life is what drove me personally to return those two models in the end. Also note the white one scratches easily and has soft plastic that damages very easily its only metal around the keyboard area. I have to say i loved the look of the white one but there was so many massive issues when comparing it to any of the asus or lenovo comparable models it was night and day difference to make you realize why you can get a spec sheet like that at the on sale $1500 price tag seems like an insane deal, unfortunately its junk.

I ordered this laptop because I was looking to get something that was portable for school, and also for gaming a bit, the screen looks great and it runs good but the issues I had with this laptop were: 1.It arrived with a dead pixel 2. Trackpad gets out of control often don’t know why.

Very very powerful machine I love the display good brightness and colors, I hate to see the pixels in the screen (1080p) but this is not the case.
The only downside is the battery life, it drains a lot but I understand that it needs to consume a lot of power to move that amount of power
By the way I love the color
Good job Best Buy for this particular exclusive model.

This laptop is great. Very powerful and fast. It has optimus so you can desctivate the crappy igpu and use only the rtx 3070. The screen is good (1440p and 165hz). It runs all games on ultra with a decent amount of fps. If you buy on sale (1499$) is a steal. But right now I’ll recomend to wait for the 3070ti model.

This laptop is horrendous. I bought it for my son for Xmas and was so excited that he finally gets a decent laptop. From the beginning, it would repeatedly shut down unexpectedly, fans run on max for no reason, overheats all the time running low consuming apps, even just watching YouTube, the laptop overheats and fans at max speed. Battery was always only an hour or two from the beginnnng. Eventually the laptop fried 14 months later with basic usage. How convenient that the warranty expires after 1 year. This is so devastating. HP will not fix.

Who wrote the reviews on here?? - the computer is TERRIBLE!!
This computer will not respond at all until the gaming center is activated, account made, then downloaded, and the RTX 3070 turned on. (meaning it must be running at all times to operate computer)
After removing a TON of bloat-ware and microsoft's sneaky spy-ware (took about 3 hours), I was able to open the Omen Gaming Center. There are 16 driver errors to start with. Then an 'illegal' action notice from DOS that comes up on the screen any time I try to open/re-open the gaming center.
With the Intel built in GPU - this is not even a functioning unit. I mean like 20 seconds to 3 minutes per click - no exaggeration. It is completely useless until you get to activate the RTX 3070. But even STILL... the response time is TERRIBLE for a new computer. Right click will take 15-45 seconds to even respond. There is also a place on the screen where a window's outline (of a window - see pics) wanted to open, but never did/nor will it... Just the outline on EVERY screen/window/etc that is opened. But even worse, the spinning mouse is non-responsive if cursor goes into that area of screen.
This was meant to replace a 2009 Dell laptop, and unfortunately, this is WAY WAY worse response time + more issues than Sports Illustrated.
I do not know who wrote these great sounding reviews, but there is no possible way that they are using the same device as what I am using, or they are just salesmen for this brand.
I am not exaggerating, nor am I an enemy of HP's by any means. I am really shocked that this machine could have so many issues. Boot time is also between 2-8 minutes. YES, REALLY.
I have no idea how something like that can get past quality control and in the hands of 'trusting consumers'. If i made a product of this quality, I would be tarred and feathered and hated by anyone/everyone I tricked into buying.
This review is 100% honest, and I have no idea who or what has written these other reviews, as I spent hours trying to just get a responsive cursor and removing the initial LAG to even get into the RTX3070, and it is STILL super-slow in response w/ a lot of lag and memory usage constantly. My 2009 computer was much faster than this.
I was expecting so much more, and never in my furthest imagination would i think i would get something that my 12+ year old computer could 'run laps around' for 1500.00 in 2022.
I am going to have to drive over 100+ miles to return this thing now. I am so sad that retail, the integrity of society, and quality of products has gotten so lowly, so poor, so dishonest.

Powerful mid-level gaming/professional laptop

This is a fantastic and powerful mid-level gaming laptop that you'd have no problem taking to a coffee shop or library to also get some work done if necessary. The screen is nice and bright, there are enough ports to connect external devices like mouse and keyboard without the use of a hub. If you needed more USB ports, the USB-C port is available for expansion.
The RTX 3070 is the Max-Q variant, so it's capped at 115 watts but for if you're interested in games such as FFXIV or other such titles, this machine can handle it just fine. Inside, there is plenty of space for future expansion. I believe this model's RAM can be upgraded up to 64g, but the 16g that it comes with is plenty for my needs right now.
I use a set of HyperX Cloud S wireless headphones with Mic and everyone says that I now said even better, so the soundcard on this device is truly fantastic. Sounds in all my games sound even better, and my previous computer had an HD Sound card. Now I'm hearing ambient sounds I had no idea where in my games and music sounds even better.
Also, if you're concerned about heat from the GPU, don't be. The cooling system HP has installed on this model does a fantastic job. I've got mine placed on an elevated cooling pad out of an abundance of caution, but honestly, the system's automatic mode does a fine job and it doesn't get that loud (compared to other gaming laptops - perspective is key here).
Honestly, for the sale price of $1500, it's a fantastic option for someone looking for something different (you don't see many white laptops), with a gorgeous keyboard (you have the option to turn the RGB lights off through the software if you don't like it, but I personally do like it - I have it set to the Starlight, in slow and Ocean colorway and its simply beautiful), with a lovely bright 16 inch screen.
It's a tiny bit heavier than the laptop its replacing, a 2019 Acer Helios 300 Predator that died Christmas Eve. This was my Christmas gift to myself - what a tremendous upgrade.
Battery life is short because it needs a lot of power to feed the components and battery sizes currently can only be big and still be safe. For my needs, this is fine as the machine is primarily a gaming laptop to it stays put on my desk. It does have a battery saver mode when being out and about. The charging brick is a bit big but it needs to be. I recommend a padded laptop bag for transporting this laptop with the charging brick separately, as the screen/lid feels a bit delicate and I can see it getting damaged by the weight of the charging brick.
It does come with Windows 11. Be Warned. If you don't like Windows 11.... *shrug* so far, I haven't had any issues. It's been very smooth.
Truly, if you're on the fence about purchasing (especially now that it's on sale), I'd take the plunge and get it. It isn't one of the more popular models like the Asus g15 but it's SO GOOD. Give it a shot.

Been using this laptop for about a year now for both work and gaming while traveling.
Pros:
-Solid performance for modern gaming, especially on a laptop
-Looks better than most standard work computer while not being overtly 'gamer' in design
-Temperatures stay reasonable
Cons:
-Battery can struggle at times; may be due to this being a showroom unit
-Fan gets loud, but this is usually during memory intensive situations
As someone who normally uses a high end desktop at home, this has been a fantastic substitue on the road. Although i receive a few comments on the design, its from people who are techy or like games and theyre very complementary.
Overall I recommend this or other Omen laptops.

Amazing Laptop!

Amazingl laptop, especially if you consider price this is one of the better, if not best deals you can get right now. I got an "Open Box Excellent" for $1365 and it came looking brand new, the plastic wrap was still on the power brick even. The $1500 price for brand new is still fantastic though.
Beautiful design, the white looks very classy but with my kids using it all the time I'd have preferred a darker color lol. The screen is beautiful, it does wobble a little if forced but it doesnt move while using it at all. The keyboard has per-key rgb and feels very nice. Trackpad is good but I generally hate them all so i use a mouse.
As for performance, it was quite laggy upon initial setup. After that I was able to disable the integrated gpu then no problems whatsoever with lag. There were also obviously many updates downloading/installing upon setup which probably exacerbated the lag in the first place.
Everything at stock speeds, no overclocking, I can run Halo Infinite with ultra setting including AA and get arpund 85-95 fps. G-Sync works flawlessly with zero screen tearing. Forza Horizon 5 simlar framerates as Halo, a little higher though, again with all settings turned all the way up. CPU gets a little hot but it is an Intel and i haven't come close to temps that would induce throttling. Fans kick in as expected when needed. They aren't silent but not even close to loud compared to some other gaming laptops I've used.
Overall I'm super happy with this purchase and can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an "affordable" gaming laptop with high end specs.
I will be happy to answer any questions in the comments.

I been using this laptop since November 24th and the graphics card is powerful and does a great job at gaming. It also has a very nice display for gaming and the computer stay comfortably cool thanks to the fans on the bottom of the computer qnd it is very responsive on the speed for launching up and browsing the web. I will just say when gaming i recommend having it plugged into the charger for the laptop as the battery pretty much drains within a hour and i would recommend having the laptop on a hard surface to prolong the life of the computer so the cool air on the bottom can flow out efficiently well, so as i review i would recommend this laptop to another person as i believe hp omen is a great laptop maker and with geek squad warranty it is a nice piece of mind to have on expensive devices like this if incase anything were to ever happen in the future!!
