Insane Laptop - HP is Back

If you had asked me a couple years ago if I’d ever recommend that anyone buy an HP Omen, it would’ve been a resounding “no”. This laptop right here though might just take the cake as not only HP’s best laptop they’ve ever made by far, but possibly one of the best gaming laptops you can buy in 2025, especially for the price. The CPU is insanely powerful and the laptop has no problem keeping thermals in check while gaming. There is a ton of customization in the Omen software for adjusting your fan speeds, power levels, undervolting, overclocking, and even load line calibration on the CPU, that is like next level tweaking! Of course battery life isnt gonna be great on these, and Nvidia’s 50 series as a whole is a little disappointing outside of multi frame gen, but that’s not HP’s fault. This laptop is a beast for the money though and is really hard to beat. Mostly metal chassis, premium and sleek feel that is super sturdy, ports on the back, nice per-key RGB if you’re cool with the pudding caps, decent trackpad, okay speakers, and just tons of customization and features, and some of the highest power and performance that you can get out of a 16” laptop anywhere else.

Very fast and snappy.
Coming from an old 2020 Laptop with i7 and 2070, this laptop is just way way faster.
I love the whole aesthetic of this laptop, it's simple and clean once you turn the RGB off. It's not too edgy and gamery.
The keyboard feels nice to use, good travel distance and heavy-ish feel when typing. I can't stand laptops with mushy keyboards.
The layout is not the best, but also not the worst I've seen.
It's just an alright layout.
I can't imagine putting a 1 star review on this laptop specially because you didn't like the keyboard layout.
I'm sure you've seen it in the pictures before you bought it.
The screen is also very good for an IPS, it's very bright and vibrant.

By far the worst piece of tech I've ever owned

The design and build of this laptop is pretty solid, outside the comically large bezels, but that's where the positives for this device end. This laptop is incompletely slow to the point it takes 4-5 seconds for the start menu to come up after clicking the windows key, takes 3+ min to open steam, etc.
This device is completely unusable even after a fresh windows install, bios update, new drivers. There's other weird things like I set the manual fan curve to the min and the laptop is silent when browsing the internet then when I put it to sleep the fans ramp up to max and will stay that way until I shut it down all the way.
I also somehow ordered the IPS version when I was almost positive I bought the oled but this screen is absolutely atrocious. The backlight bleed is hideous, anti-glare film looks horrible, bad max brightness, no hdr, etc.
I was genuinely unable to use this laptop for long enough to figure out what else is wrong with it but at this point I wouldn't use it for free much less spend a small fortune on it. Funny enough this is the slowest computer I've owned in 20+ years since my last HP lol.

Excellent laptop! Very fast! The only thing that I don't care for is the loudness of the fan.

Had the laptop for 5 days, tried COD and it stuttered during gaming to the point it was unplayable. Returned. According to HP and the Internet, the Core Ultra and NVidia 5000 series cards have a lot of issues. NVidia is focused on AI and could not care less about gamers, that built their company.

This is a great laptop. I don't know why that guy is complaining about the arrow keys being small and the bezels. What games does he play? Flash games on a $3k laptop. Just get a keyboard. Anyways, the OLED screen is very nice and the keyboard is designed by Hyper X. Not Dell. Dumb uninformed one star review.

This laptop is a beast of a machine that can do anything put in its way! With the Nvidia RTX 5080 and a high refresh rate display, this is a great choice for any dedicated gamer who wants a high performance laptop!

The configuration and performance of this machine are quite satisfying to me, but the thick bottom bezel of the screen and those half-height arrow keys are dealbreakers. I simply can't comprehend your designers' aesthetic judgment. Do your designers even play games? Why on earth would you create such an awful arrow key design?
