HP never disappoints. This laptop can be held in tablet mode, tent mode or table mode. Touch screen works well in all. Only drawback is weight is a little more than I expected and that makes it slightly awkward. Regardless, I love it!!

After my son reviewed the specs he was looking to utilize as he is a full-time college student. We decided the Spectre-360 would be the best choice. The lightweight and versatility is easy to handle as well.

I was Looking to a purchase a light weight laptop for my home office use, I purchased a open box Laptop from store. Laptop box not displayed any proper information about laptop specification. I was looking for a i7 with 256 SSD laptop. Best buy store assistant said it is SSD laptop. After coming back to home I noticed it was 1TB hard drive and returned the laptop. Again I searched in the store and I found this HP Spectre 360 online and went 30 miles store to purchase. This open box item $810 and new one $899 (10% on the new laptop). Previous best buy offering the $50 off and on open laptops, so requested for $50 off from store floor manager. He said that store may be offering $50 on open box but we are not able to honer. I bought for $810+ tax. after coming home start installing, then noticed the power plug not related to USA( attached screen shoot). This is a Geeksquad certified open box( attached screen shoot). Geeksquad not verified when they are certified.
My final recommendation please don't buy open box laptop's from best buy. This is a worst experience with Geeeksquad certified. I spent my time to travel, toll tax and Gas expenses to buy this laptop.Really very bad experience with open box laptop's from best buy.

I have been using this laptop as my daily driver for almost 1 month now, and I must admit I'm thoroughly impressed. This is an HP product I have bought after a long while (I had some bad experience with my previous HP printer and laptops), and I honestly took a bet after seeing the Spectre x360. The design is exquisite. It's not the lightest one out there, but still its incredible the power it packs for such a small device. Booting up and normal operation is a breeze. The loads of available ports actually makes a mockery of the dongle-madness that has ensued by the new MacBook Pro and even the new Spectre x360 (Kaby Lake).
My only grievance is that the tablet mode is not the best - it's definitely no Microsoft Surface. The HP Active Stylus is not good as the Dell one (which I think is hard to find right now). It would've been a nice touch if they could bundle the pen with the laptop. Also, the included neoprene sleeve is not very convenient as it's too tight. The glaring keyboard light hotkey is an eyesore (fortunately you can turn it off in the updated BIOS setting). The sound is not the best, as both the speakers are bottom-firing.
But overall, I really like this laptop for its aesthetic design and raw power. A definite buy if you're looking for a good convertible/2-in-1 and it's within the price range.

Super Connectivity, Elegant Wireless Perfection
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Dang, this Spectre X360 (in cool Ash Silver) is by far more elegant than any other computer I've ever had, and I was a high-end Sony Vaio guy. Screen images are incredible and wireless works flawlessly. I'm getting about 7 hours battery life with screen at 80%. That was a major worry for me because of other reviews I'd read. Seems pretty good to me; my Vaio only got 4 hrs at best and took twice as long to charge.
I had gone in to get the new Surface Pro 4 but the connectivity was very poor -- no SD card ports, only 1 USB, and who uses that weird new USB anyway? Only 1 thing at a time can connect to the Surface Pro without extra junk to lug. Meanwhile the Spectre rages with convenience and portability -- I was just in a coffee shop switching back and forth between Photoshop, Word and InDesign plus AOL and Edge all open continuously, with a small external hard drive, two built-in USBs and camera card (SD 32 gig) all working together like lightning. Had some huge photo files open (300 dpi CMYK at 30"x16" for a magazine story) and using the pen to clone down at the 2 pixel level from one 24 gig photo to another). With the Surface I would have had to drag along the $200 external docking port and some sort of SD card adapter to do what the Spectre already has; more stuff to lug, no thanks, Surface. And the Surface is only an i5; the guys at Best Buy said no way would it handle Photoshop, InDesign, Edge and the large photos for a sustained period.
Sadly, the HP pen cannot match the Surface Pro 4. It is not snappy and the image appears "below" the glass, unlike the Surface -- so "that's" where they got the name. The HP pen isn't too bad but often acts a little confused but I'm learning better ways to use it and it's improving. I hear the Dell pen works better on the HP.
And I had my Sony Bluetooth headphones going too. Bluetooth connectivity is great. Just swipe-in from the right side of the touch screen and Viola! Touch the "connect" icon and it happens almost automatic. Wireless in the coffee place happened perfectly too, in a split second. I am thinking the haphazzard connectivity I read about in some reviews was in machines with the older (Broadwell?) chips from last Fall or something. I'll have to go back and check those dates, this X360 is working fantastic.
I hope I have no updates on this. I had no prior love of HP, in fact the opposite, but I'm becoming a believer. When I bought it I figured anything goes wrong, anything, its going back but the opposite is happening. It starts up in 30 seconds ready to go with zippy performance even with a half dozen apps open.
By the way, Photoshop is not perfected yet on any 2-in-1s (SP4 included); those scaling issues are a drag and make it appear small. It fits on the screen but the text things like "File" and "Edit" are pretty small. I understand there are reasons for this but I look forward to some sort of downloadable scaling fix. Make it soon, Windows/Adobe! Adobe InDesign appears bigger and far more manageable; MS Word is fine, maps and Edge, in fact all my other apps are A-OK. Where I had lingering doubt as to whether I should have gotten the Surface Pro 4, the 3 USB 3.0 ports and SD card inputs and awesome looks of my (Ash Silver) Spectre eradicated them. The killer was, I got an i7 256 gig for the same money the i5 cost in the Surface. All in all I figure I got a better, faster machine for $550 less (the $200 dock, $200 to upgrade to the i7 and $129 for the type cover plus tax and dongles/adapters. I did have to buy the HP pen.
One last thing -- I had concerns that the charger would be the same old big brick of the past. Not so, it's pretty small. Wahoo!

I have nothing negative to report in this laptop. It took me a little time to become familiar with using this laptop as I changed from an Apple MacBook Air. Yes, this seems like it has more functionality for what I am needing for an online masters program. The tech support has also been phenomenal to work with!

Touch-pad mouse:C+, Graphic Issues:OS/Video Card?

I like that this solid state drive is fast to start up and shut down. The image is crisp and vivid and sound is great. Back-lighted keys are useful. The BAD is that I am finding black spotted and linear pixelated debre littering many pop-up windows and menu bars, sometimes blacking out the texts completely. At other times a shadow of this activity presents itself before a window fully loads--but is still a "spectre" of a deeper issue with either the OS or the video card, I am suspecting. I had the geek squad look at if it is a software issue-- but so far it is unresolved, and my fear is that it may be a big repair. Anyone hear of this happening?
Also, the sensitivity of the touch-pad mouse required heavy tapping rather than a touch to activate the curser. I end up clicking the mouse button instead of tapping all the time.
The Mute button is always getting stuck in "on/lit" position when I use it and requires computer shut down or reboot to resolve each time! WTF?!!

The Spectre 360 is perfect. It's light, great screen, terrific colors and converts so easily to tablet mode.
The new write on screen functionality is probably one of the best features.
Best of all, it's truly affordable.

First off, I want to say that I purchased a HP Pavilion DV7 6 years ago and it still runs like a pro. I should have gone with HP again when I began searching for a bit smaller and sleeker laptop for college/work.
I first tried a Microsoft Surface 3 and didn't like it. It was slow and glitchy. I took it back and upgraded to the Pro version. A bit better but would still not recognize when the type cover was attached and would randomly not power on. A month later I learned that the Surface Pro 4 was released and I had a student coupon so I used that to upgrade.. again.... Same issues. Took it back because of a faulty connection on the type cover port and got a FOURTH Surface. Took it back a week later.
Finally went back to this product and couldn't be happier. Same price as the Surface Pro 4 yet double the memory, ungraded processor, and can actually set it on your lap and use it. I've had ZERO issued since I got it about 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it. Very similar design wise to a Macbook Air. Touchscreen, though I seldom use it, works great.
Only bad thing about it is that the touchpad can be slightly unresponsive to a hard click and makes a loud sound when it is clicked. Not an issue for me as I use a light tap instead of the physical click.
Would purchase this again in a heart beat. Well done HP, I'll never cheat on you again!

I like the Spectre a lot. It's versatile with all its configurations. I wish I could find an online user manual. It took me a while to figure out how to unlock the rotation so I could use it in tent mode. I had to go to a HP blog to find out. Battery life is quite good and the keyboard is good on my adult hands. I had a Surface but I don't like their keys. It is a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for!

Very good laptops. Fast, smooth, love the design and feel. My only issues are the software problems, which may be consistent with Windows 10 rather than the laptop itself the more I research it. Sometimes Microsoft edge closes and restarts on its own. I couldn't listen to my music first through my headphones at first without changing settings, and I still have a problem listening with them with iTunes. Other than a few minor hiccups, it's a great premium laptop when you're deciding on getting a 2 in 1. Battery is great, main reason why I switch my surface pro 4 for this laptop, which does lives up to the 9 hours of video playback it's being advertised for. I barely got 4 hours. I highly recommend this.

I did hours worth of research before purchasing this product. I finally decided to choose this one, due to its overall value and good looks. Most of it has lived up, but there have been some truly disappointing factors.
Pros: The keyboard is great but the always on light can get annoying at times, The display is (mostly) great, it is very snappy and rarely ever lags, the design is absolutely stunning
Cons: Although the display looks great, there is bleeding from the sides when completely black and in dim lighting, which makes me question quality control. I exchanged my laptop for another one, and it is bleeding from the same place, so I assume it effects all of this model. The rubber feet at the bottom get dirty very easily. I sat it on my desk, which is pretty clean, and after lifting it up, there were black marks on the rubber feet. The air intake is flush at the bottom, which can cause the computer to choke and get toasty. I think they could have found a better place to put it. HP seems to brag about the Bang & Olufsen audio, but I was disappointed. The audio sounds empty, and kind of tinny. Even after adjusting sound settings, it sounds slightly better, but when on high volume it can get quite tinny. Not bad audio by any means, but after all the advertisement, it is quite sad to see the audio not live up to its name. I think it gives Bang & Olufsen a bad image.
Overall, this is still a great machine, but there are just one too many kinks for me to give it 4 stars. I believe if HP put a little bit more effort into developing this machine, it would have been worlds better.

The laptop build quality is very impressive. The laptop comes with a protective sleeve made out of a thin material, but due to the sharp edges on the laptop it was able to cut through the protective sleeve. Some of the edges are impressively sharp but I am glad Hp took the time to put this amount of precision in the crafting of the laptop. Some edges are a little too sharp and I had to file them down. The power button is in somewhat of an odd spot and sits very flush with the frame of the laptop. It is at times challenging to turn on the laptop without looking at the button. The laptop being only 3 pounds making it very easy to carry around. It is very thin and able to accommodate many situations when space is limited. The aluminum surface shows dirt well and will wind up cleaning it often if it bothers you. There is very little keyboard flex and the screen and body of the laptop is very rigid making it a very durable laptop. The backlight of the keyboard can be toggled by a key in the keyboard but only that key will stay lit. I see the reasoning behind this but if it bothers you the setting can be changed in the bios. The top row on the keyboard has special functions like volume and screen brightness. In order to press any of the f keys you need to press fn along with the desired key.
The 360 hinge is a very nice thing to have and is making use of the touchscreen with various stylus making it easy to draw and or Photoshop editing on it. I can seamlessly edit raw 20mp pictures and apply effects to it easily with the amount of power it can muster. The design of the 360 hinge seems like it will last a long time. When in tablet mode the keyboard and touchpad does disable so you don’t accidently start typing or clicking Sometimes the hinges are too tight making the lid hard to open.
Performance is great and sometimes impressive but thermal throttles under VERY high workload. Most of the time the computers fan does not turn on endless plugged in or absolutely necessary. I run Photoshop and 3d rendering programs often and It works well but integrated graphics still do not support cuda cores making some workloads a little slower than normal but still useable. Do keep in mind that this has a dual core i7 which will give you 4 threads to work with, this is not the same as a quad core i7. Some cpu intensive tasks will suffer from this making some things slower. This gpu is great for integrated graphics. The HD 520 graphics can handle reasonable workloads before becoming unusable. It can handle reasonable 3d models but would be nice to have the option of dedicated graphics.
Do beware when I got the laptop I had to do a bios update and update the driver for the ac adapter. The driver for the ac adapter does not work well and often crashes making it challenging to correct. Just make sure you get the latest driver from Intel’s website not Hp’s website. As of 12/28/15 windows 10 will not be able to calculate the amount of time left on the battery. This presents some issues when estimating how much time on the battery is left but will still report the battery percentage. The battery life is very good. It lasts long on web browsing but the life is shortened when running intensive tasks as to be expected. Even under lots of load the battery life is still good.
I would recommend the laptop to others and it has impressed me. It is fast and very capable. I do wish Hp offered a version with 16GB of ram or dedicated graphics like a GTX 960m to compete with the dell xps. Do you research, this laptop is not for everyone. If you are looking for a laptop with a 360 hinge just for Netflix in bed there are definitely are other options but for a power user or a student in high school or college who needs a small thin laptop that can write papers, compile code and produce 3d animations and have great battery life and build quality this laptop is for you.

Excellent ultrabook with snappy performance, roughly 8 hours of consistent use per charge and a great keyboard. The only caveat that stands out is how the laptop can have a slight stability issue when typing on your lap. Maybe it's just common with 13 inch laptops, but worth noting nonetheless. Otherwise you can't go wrong for a work/University laptop.

I bought this laptop as a Christmas present for my dad. He was long overdue for a new laptop. His previous one was slow, dated, heavy, and worn-in. I was looking for a replacement that would last so having a solid state drive was one feature I was looking for. I was also looking for a lightweight laptop for easy travel. It responds to commands fast without fuss. The touchscreen and tablet feature is pretty cool too. Every feature I sought out for in a laptop was met when I purchased the HP Spectre. Also, Windows 10 was easy to adapt to as well.

This new laptop has great features and functions. The hinge feels strong and the touchscreen is convenient. It starts up very fast and is light. Downsides are the screen glitches from time to time, the battery life is not as strong as advertised and its a little wide for airplane use, although still useable. I would buy another one because none of those are deal breakers and the functionality overtakes these issues. But I would like to see HP/Microsoft take note and resolve/improves these issues in the coming versions of this sleek, elegant machine. - Jack

Its been a few months and I love this fast laptop! Im a college student and the battery is great! Can run me through the whole day if needed through classes. The only small problem I had was the laptop had to restart only a handful of times because my wifi screwed up with the update but the computer fixed it by itself fast. The camera is really good and the wifi catches on really well compared to all the other laptops I've tested. It was either the Toshiba Satellite Radius 4k 12.5inch laptop or this laptop. I still would recommend this one without a doubt.

I like this laptop and it's overall functionality. I've found the battery life to be much better than expected and almost no noise. The only con I can say is I wish it were a little lighter. At 3.5 lbs it's not heavy, but it feels heavy when I pick it up. If it were a tablet I'd say too heavy, but for a laptop it's not a big deal.
Not sure why I'm being asked for my review again as I already did one, but maybe it wasn't listed. In case it's not there, worth knowing you can get a battery report using the cmd prompt and typing powercfg /batteryreport. Found it validated my 8 hour battery use time.
