Had this laptop before but with a different processor. It was great but it got damaged so I had to buy another one. When I went back to Best Buy to replace it I saw this one which had a better processor and I believe a SSD. I use it mainly for work but it does the job and the screen is amazing. If you have the Money to spend on a great top of the line laptop, this is the one! 4 stars for battery life. It is cool as long as you keep the screen brightness to about the 3rd notch and the keyboard light off during the day.

My son has used this laptop for school since we bought it. About a year after purchase it started shutting off and overheating. We've taken it in twice for service. They told us it was the cord, which we replaced and this has not fixed the issue. It's s less than 2 years old and fairly useless! Ridiculous!

This was by far the most expensive laptop I ever purchased. It is almost but not quite perfect. It does not have an Ethernet port and it only has one USB 3 port. The Thunderbolt and USB-C ports almost make up for it. But not quite. I do a lot of network troubleshooting and really need an RJ45 connection. Sooooo I had to buy an additional USB 3 to RJ45 adapter. It works but come on guys. I was also surprised that local storage is shrinking on new laptops. This one has a 1T SSD drive. It was the most storage I could find in this laptop line. My last laptop came with 512G SSD PLUS a 2T spinning drive. Sooooo I set up a NAS to off load files I don't need roaming access to. All of that said, I love it. It was super simple to set up. WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity are stable. The touch screen is responsive and absolutely gorgeous. And the system is FAST. Glad I bought it.

I was trying to replace my nearly 3 year old Dell XPS 13 with comparable specs, 16 GB RAM, terabyte SSD... That had actually replaced an older HP Spectre X360 I had, my second. So I'm familiar with the HP line and was very happy with the two I had several years ago.
It was on sale, so I thought I'd give it a try. Going from a 13 to a 15 inch laptop was a bit of a jump, but I liked the larger screen in some ways, although it made it much more difficult to use in tablet mode, it's just a behemoth even when it's sitting on your lap or a table or something, not to mention holding it to write on for any extended period of time.
Fans were on about 80 percent of the time, even when I had the CPU throttled back and was only doing some web surfing, some remote desktop access, and Office programs. It wasn't annoyingly loud or anything, just present.
Build quality was excellent. No issues with fit or finish.
Keyboard wasn't my favorite, but I'm also used to typing on a different brand's keyboard for nearly 3 years, so part of that would have been reconciled over time.
I have a multi monitor setup at the office with a USB C dock, that is rated as 130 watts of power delivery. And I could not get this to work at ALL with it. Power delivery worked, but no matter what I tried, this would simply refuse to ever see external monitors. I even purchased another dock, also high power, that was also supposed to work with discrete graphics using display port alt mode, and that one also failed to work with this.
Large file copies were sluggish on this, but I did some digging and apparently that's the fault of the optane memory. When I wasn't dealing with something 15 to 50 GB in size, it worked better.
I wanted to take advantage of the Wifi 6 so got a new firewall as well for home, and the speed was noticeable, anywhere from 40 to 80% faster file copy speeds from the same location in my home with the newer 802.11 ax compared to the 802.11 ac.
The OLED screen was gorgeous. Vibrant, crisp, great color rendering. Everything, from the task bar to movies, looked beautiful on it.
Trackpad worked quite well, no issues.
Ultimately though I ended up having to return it, since I need my multiple monitor setup at work, and nothing I tried seemed to work with this. I'm going to assume it's the discrete graphics causing me the issues, since I've used other Spectres with this dock and had no issues...
I'll wait for the new 14" version of this to go on sale again (missed it by 10 hours when I was going to replace this with the other new model) since I was so pleased with this overall.

Computer runs and handles extremely well, quick and powerful. While it may get a little hot at times, it’s nothing that can’t be handled. Only complaints are with the camera and USB port. Camera is one of the worst I’ve ever seen, insanely blurry and dull. Also, there is only one USB port, so if you want to use a mouse and any other accessory, you’ll have to invest in a USB extender hub.

Beautiful screen - battery was a deal-breaker

We got this for my son for college, thinking with making tweaks and non-heavy use, the battery may be on the higher end for us. Not the case. The AMOLED display is beautiful, most vibrant vivid colors I've ever seen on a laptop, and keyboard/trackpad were solid. Boots up extremely fast, no issues. Touchscreen was very good. But we returned this within a week (thanks Best Buy for the 14-day return policy, very appreciated). Did real-world testing for our usage, with just maybe an hour of internet browsing (no video), Email, Word and Excel open, and streaming a couple songs, about 5-6 hours was going to be the life on battery. And that was truly "best case" for us, because that was WITH power setting set to best battery life, and screen brightness only 1-2 clicks from bottom - quite dim.
As others have mentioned, this laptop does run hot as well. Yes, I know some heat is normal, and that's how it pushes the heat from the system, but after owning several laptops, comparably, this was hotter than expected.
So, as just a casual user, if you can stay plugged in and keep display brightness to appreciate the benefits of this gorgeous screen, this would be a great laptop. We just decided for us, we didn't want a college student having to worry about finding an outlet in every class, and also having to frequently adjust fan setting to cool it down (which did help via the HP Command Center fan settings).
Hoping this may help someone else who is looking. This is one that truly depends on where/how you'll be using it.

Good , but has drawbacks
, non upgradable ram...soldered on board, can't undervolt,
Use XTU from Intel and adjust power limit to 100w and turbo boost from 20 to 128 seconds, the biggest improvement was a liquid metal repast as even light loads it would thermal throttle constantly, now I can run 4.3 Ghz I n all 6 cores at 100 percent load and not crack 75c , took my xtu score from stock 1780 to 2390 after it
Beautiful machine and I love it, still only 1 thunderbolt 3 port , I usb c , 1 type a, camera kill switch, Microsoft card slot.
You can upgrade dthe ssd though. Takes standard 2280 Nvme 3.0 ssd, wish was gen 4 as this 10750h supports gen 4. But still super fast.
The Nvidia 1060 max q is cool but I don't game so its no use to me,
I'm auto mechanic and I use this as my diagnostic computer and for programming control units , so my load is all cpu. I use labscope too and has super fast refresh rate
The AMOLED display is amazing ....play some 8k content and its vibrant and looks like real life
Battery life is solo, I have gotten 8 hours out of it just with mixed use. It throttles down when on only battery. Lots of power throttling so if doing intensive work keep on charger.
Wifi 6 is fast fast fast
TouchPad and swipe navigation is great and silky smooth scrolling.
I replaced a spectra x360 df1033dx which is same unit just 4 core i7 10510u with mx250 Nvidia but that model had changeable ram and ssd.
I recommend either unit , if battery life is important and don't use dedicated GPS go for the older model with U series chipset if you want power get this 6 core unit. I wish they offered I9 though. I'm thinking on going Dell as they offer i9 in x360 model.
Overall I love it. I give it 8 of 10 stars. Due to throttling and non upgradable ram. Plus it supports 3200mhz ram but they declocked it to 2997mhz.
All advanced options are locked out in bios and not changeable.

I purchased the HP x360 Spectre 15.6" to replace an aging HP Omen.
I use the laptop for engineering programs, standard Outlook, office 365, Adobe 365 and AutoCAD Architecture 2021.
I am very pleased with the laptop so far. There has not been any issues or hiccups so far.
The screen is Awesome. It smudges a bit, so I keep it clean with microfiber cloth. I haven't done much with the pen yet, but so far, again, no issues. The ability to use the laptop as a tablet is one of the things that led me to the purchase, and I've enjoyed using that function. The hinge is stable and feels strong. The keyboard is full size and feels good to type. I purchased a USB C hub, which needs to be plugged in, but that really solves the lack of ports. It was very important to get the model with the dedicated video card RAM using AutoCAD.
I contemplated a 13" model, but opted for the 15.6" because it was in stock and was about $600.00 less. I looked at the HP Dragonfly elite, but the one to match the specs of the spectre x 360 was #3,000.00 without any added hub, dvd burner, etc...
The only down side is that the RAM can't be increased as it is soldered in place.
Overall, an excellent machine.

This was my first HP computer that I bought. I had high expectations and it had lived up to the hype. It was fast and the screen resolution was amazing. The computer came with a pen and automatically the pen wouldn’t even charge or show a light to say if it was charging or not. I received a replacement, but I had no computer to use it on. The battery had basically broke one month into using the computer. The computer would only work if it was plugged into an outlet. I have shipped it back to HP for them to fix, but I was hoping that with buying a laptop with this type of speed and performance that I was looking for so I would not have problems till 4-5 years down the road. One month in and I have already had two major problems. Overall it’s a wonderful laptop that I would recommend getting but probably expect a problem or two.

This is one of the best laptops for gaming and Computer aided design. The only thing I would complain about is the battery life. Even on battery saver mode and low brightness, the battery only lasts a maximum of 6 hours just with internet surfing. If I use the laptop for CAD simulations and games under high performance, the battery would drain in 4 hours. So it depends on what tasks you need this computer for. But overall, I am satisfied with this product and I would recommend it.

Love this computer. Has just about everything I was looking for. The size and style is perfect. No wasted space around the perimeter of the screen or keyboard. Backlit keyboard is nice and bright. Crystal clear graphics. Love the diamond cut corners and copper finishes. Just two relative weaknesses, it has only one USP port and I needed two so I needed to get a hub and can get very warm at times, although the fans do a good job at cooling it down efficiently.

I agonized over returning this laptop after I had it for a day because of the heat and the noise. I kept it but not before many hours of research and tinkering. I was unwilling to do any physical mods to reduce heat and fan noise due to the possibility I may return it.
But in the end, I did get the fan and heat under control and I'm glad I did.
When I first brought this home, the fan was spinning so fast and the heat under the laptop was unacceptable. I mean, this was so hot you could barely touch it. Forget about keeping it on your lap. I had seen a few reviews about fan noise and heat but I thought this to be subjective and was willing to buy it. I can always return it, right?
The laptop build quality is so good, the look is so elegant, it's lightning fast and the display is extremely satisfying especially when working with graphics at 4K or watching 4K streams. I don't game so I'm not concerned about that. I work with video, music production, and graphics. I was torn between putting up with the noise and heat or returning it.
The problem with returning it? There's really nothing else available that has the same build quality and features at the price. I got it on sale. So knowing I had 15 days to return it I dug in to see if I could solve the problem.
HP has an app that controls the fan and heat called HP Command Center. The Thermal Profile was initially set to HP Recommended, so I didn't change it. I downloaded SpeedFan and found the heat was running very hot on all cores almost 100% of the time. I found a firmware update from HP which was supposed to correct the heat and fan noise, but it didn't do anything that I noticed to correct the issue. Finally I found some discussions online about the HP Command Center Thermal Profile but they were referencing settings that I didn't have (older versions). I was able to glean from those discussions that setting the Thermal Profile to "Comfort" would reduce the processor by 1% and cause the fans to run slowly but more continuously.
When I did set the Thermal Profile to Comfort, the fan started spinning at max speed and it was really loud. But I left it alone for a while and eventually the heat readings on SpeedFan started to drop to normal levels. It took quite a while to eventually settle down, but then the laptop was cool to the touch and I was able to use it on my lap without a lap desk.
With Thermal Profile set to Comfort, there is always a noticeable fan noise but it's not that bad. Believe it or not, it's more noticeable when the laptop is plugged in and charging and not in use. When I start using it, it's really cool and quiet now.
In the end, I'm glad I kept this laptop. SHAME SHAME SHAME on HP for ever letting this otherwise stellar product out the door with the cheapest, noisiest, and ineffective fans and cooling configuration I've ever encountered. There are SO MANY things they could have done during the design phase to mitigate the heat and noise. But the product was obviously designed and released to manufacturing without one human being at HP ever taking it home to use it on their lap. Because if they did, they'd know they were shooting themselves in the foot on this one. There's no excuse for this crappy cheap cooling setup.
In closing, do two things right away if you buy this laptop:
1 - download and install the latest firmware
2 - change the Thermal Profile to Comfort in the HP Command Center.
Then just know that the fan noise seems to calm down when you're using the Laptop. I keep it plugged in in my office and allow it to go into sleep mode when I close the lid. When I do take it out to use it on my lap in my favorite chair, it stays relatively quiet and cool. But if fan noise is a problem for you, if you record video with a microphone or audio with a microphone, this laptop is probably not for you.

The x360 spectre 15.6" is a great laptop on paper. Its the cheapest for it's specs, especially at the 200 off the 2k price tag as of writing this. However, the laptop is simply crippled by a huge DWM bug that has been around for a couple years. Cappy's review also mentions this here.
The Desktop Window Manager eats up a MASSIVE amount of gpu usage during light tasks such as watching a 720p video or scaling simple games larger on the desktop. Wanna watch a 4k hdr video? It pins the gpu usage to 100% because of this issue. Overall this causes the laptop to heat up and drain the battery inordinately quickly. I would suspect ANYONE that has been having poor battery life, it's because of this bug.
I wiped the computer, reinstalled old drivers, changed scaling, resolution settings and even tried some registry changes, I've searched endlessly online and a ton of people have this issue it seems, and it looks to be a Microsoft Windows issue with certain hardware configs and driver conflicts. However nobody knows what causes it and there's a thousand "fixes" for it that have proved fruitless.
Whatever the case, it means this laptop lasts about 4 hours on a full battery and that's just browsing the web and watching the occasional video on youtube.
The only true hardware design flaw I find is when doing more intense tasks this thing gets hot, like burning hot right underneath the screen portion of the deck. Lay it on your legs and they're gonna feel like they're getting fried.
I wish it didn't have this horrible, debilitating DWM bug, it would be an incredible laptop for the price. Amazing oled screen, crazy powerful specs etc. But it's all for naught when your workstation laptop get's defeated by a youtube video. *Shrug* I'll be returning it and I caution anyone else from buying one they can't test drive. Load up youtube, slap a 4k 60fps video on it and watch task manager. If the GPU tab when pressed shows Desktop Window Manager eating up 60% of the gpu, say no thank you and move on.

When my hard drive failed 2 yrs ago I looked at the Spectre and fixed my PC instead. Now the power supply failed and took the mother board with it. Best Buy had this Spectre $300 off and I went for it. i7, 16gb mem, 1tb SSD, sperate video card, touch screen, and the bonus of a number pad makes it a great choice for me. Got it in just 2 days. The move from a PC to a Laptop was a good move. The HP is fast at everything I have tried.

I've been a loyal HP customer for 20+ years and my previous laptop was an HP Spectre 360 - loved it until the hard drive crashed (it was 7 years old). This new one has been a good performer but it does tend to get hot when in use or charging and in use and the battery life seems significantly shorter than my previous Spectre. I would still buy it again though!
