PROS + Extremely simple wireless connectivity options with Wi-Fi Direct connect at full 4K resolution + Low latency makes lag/delay from screen-sharing almost nonexistent + IPS display has wide viewing angles, thin bezels, and very accurate colors out of the box; it really looks great + Comes with low blue light mode that helps alleviate eyestrain + Very thin, sleek looking two-tone design + Stand is highly ergonomic, allowing the monitor to tilt up-and-down, swivel side-to-side, and is height adjustable + Effective anti-glare coating for repelling sunlight and other reflections + Low response time helps reduce blur and stutter + Supports AMD FreeSync (and unofficially Nvidia G-Sync) variable refresh rate, with a range of 40-60hz + Has DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.1 connectivity options, as well as an audio-in, headphone jack, USB-B and USB-A CONS - Downward firing speakers are serviceable, but like most built-in speakers, are nothing to write home about in terms of overall sound quality - Wireless refresh rate connection at 4K is limited to 30hz - No USB-C port - No HDR compatibility - As a tall person, I wish the stand was just a bit taller at its max height - Tops out at 60hz, so not the best choice if you are looking for above 60fps gaming MY OPINION I had my expectations tempered prior to first booting this monitor up, as I have often viewed wireless monitors as useful productivity devices, particularly small portable monitors, but they are not usually of the quality I expect from dedicated wired monitors. So, I must first say that this monitor immediately exceeded these expectations without skipping a beat. From its wide functionality (wireless connectivity being just one component of that) to its great screen, and its robust ergonomics, it really is a great all-around monitor. I do have some small nitpicks, but no product is perfect, and this is a truly great monitor with a lot to offer for the buck. SET-UP This is will be a short section because set-up is nearly as simple as it can be. Assembling everything takes minutes, with just a few pieces that need to be slotted into place for assembling the stand and attaching it to the monitor. Once it is assembled, all you need is to plug-in the power cord and you are good to go. Once powered on the monitor will be all set-up to connect wirelessly, either through the HP Quick Pair App, or manually connecting by pressing the Windows Key + K on your keyboard and choosing the monitor to pair. The latter method is how I chose to connect primarily, and it worked flawlessly. It takes a few second to pair, but once connected you are good to go. Additionally, you also have the option of connecting to your computer via HDMI (with the provided 2.1 cable) or the DisplayPort (cable not provided). I currently have the monitor connected to my home desktop via DisplayPort for use as one of my primary monitors, while I also use it wirelessly as a second monitor when working from my work laptop. PERFORMANCE To kick things off, let’s talk about wireless performance first, since that is why I imagine many people would buy this monitor. By and large, it is excellent. As I mentioned in the previous section, it is very easy to connect to the monitor wirelessly, and once connected, works very smoothly. I found the latency to be very negligible, to the point where I imagine most people wouldn’t even notice. I tested this using one of the most difficult tests, playing a video while duplicating the screen between my laptop and the wireless monitor, so I could see the original video, and the amount of delay on the duplicating screen. In all, there was maybe milliseconds of delay, with slight lip sync issues as you would expect (you can’t outrun physics), but all-in-all, it wouldn’t be something you would easily notice without looking for it. The only issues I encountered in this regard was when using the monitor as a second screen, rather than duplication. In this case, while things did work largely well, I would encounter periods of larger delay as I moved windows between my laptop and the monitor. However, these times were intermittent and largely disappeared after a few minutes. Likewise, when I used the monitor wirelessly with my more powerful personal laptop, or my desktop, these issues didn’t seem to crop up nearly as much, so it could likely be a by-product of lack of my bandwidth on my low-end work laptop. Now, when moving past the wireless functionality of the monitor, what remains is still a very strong performer in almost all other regards. For me, what impresses immediately is the screen, which is an IPS panel. This means nice wide angles at the expensive of some overall contrast compared to an VA or OLED panel. This being said, at no point did I feel this monitor was lacking in picture quality. I have a larger 32” monitor right next to it which uses a 4K VA panel (and is HDR capable/certified) and in all honesty, I prefer the look of the HP U27 far more. The colors look far more accurate (I have a calibrated OLED TV which I use as a benchmark for color accuracy, and the HP looks very close in terms of overall color accuracy) and the display is far more uniform overall. Yes, the black levels can look a bit grey, but not to the point of distraction, with shadow detail looking excellent and good handling of color gradients. I am a big media consumer, and even though the display lacks HDR support, this is now going to be my primary monitor for viewing media content, on account of its very pleasing picture quality (not to mention very thin bezels). From an ergonomics perspective, the stand swivels quite wide, tilts up and down, and is height adjustable. You can mount the monitor as well, but for my set-up I have it on the stand, which has worked very well. My only issue from an ergonomics perspective is that the monitor, even at its tallest point, still sits a bit low for my liking. I am tall at 6’ 5” (and I use a height adjustable desk in the standing position for a good portion of my day) and I like my monitor to sit more at eye-level, however, in this case I still need to tilt my eyes down to look at the monitor since it doesn’t quite go that high. It isn’t enough to cause discomfort (I have been able to easily use this monitor for hours at a time), but it is something I wish would be adjusted on future iterations of the product to make the monitor rise a bit taller on the stand. Thankfully, the monitor also comes with a good anti-glare coating, so it repels sunlight and other reflective sources very well, diffusing them by a large degree. I also want to take a quick minute to mention this monitor’s low blue light mode, which subtly shifts the monitor’s colors to ease eye strain. I suffer from headaches due to blue light, and this is an extremely welcome feature for me, by just shifting the color temperature slightly warmer, I find I suffer from less eye strain while still maintaining color accuracy. The final points I want to cover are for gaming. This monitor is capable of AMD FreeSync and by extension, Nvidia G-Sync using Nvidia’s unofficially supported list of G-Sync monitors. I personally use an Nvidia GPU, and have found the variable refresh rate to work flawlessly here. The response time is very low for the monitor, and I have encountered no lag or stutter when gaming at 60hz. It is worth mentioning that for wireless gaming, the monitor runs at a max of 30hz at 4k, which isn’t ideal for PC gaming, but this is also something I wouldn’t recommend given that the slight wireless delay between your computer and the monitor I mentioned earlier will be far more noticeable when gaming. If you wish to game, this monitor will work great, but do yourself a favor and wire it directly to your PC like a normal gaming monitor. Likewise, if you want above 60fps gaming, this monitor tops out at 60hz, so you may wish to get a dedicated gaming monitor if you want to game at very high refresh rates. For casual gamers who prefer high-resolution high-fidelity gaming, the 60hz monitor works perfect for me.

I've been in the market for a new monitor since I'm now working from home. I'm able to pull up two code editors and have a slighty squished browser for troubleshooting. I've been so much more efficient with just this one screen. I also LOVE the full tilt, swivel, and height adjustment because I can just turn the monitor to face a certain direction when I use it for gaming. Obviously the highlight of this monitor is it being wireless. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU USE AN ETHERNET CABLE! I have decent wifi (400mbps up) and even connecting a device through the wifi downgraded the resolution and there was some "crunchy" images. Once I used a cable to hardwire the internet, it was great. It's really convenient for when you want to game and your rig is in another room. This happens to be my case where this monitor is in my bedroom and the desktop connected to it is in the livingroom (>=100ft away). The overall image quality is excellent but there is some heavy light bleeding around the bottom left corner and above it as well as the upper right corner. It's not awful unless you have it on full brightness, but I wanted to mention it. The built in speakers sound good, but the menu is a bit annoying if you use a console because you have to manually go through the menu every single time you want to change the volume. Overall, I recommend this monitor if you have an inconvenient set up but can connect the monitor directly to the internet, not wifi. Otherwise, the HDMI works just great but defeats the purpose of the "wireless".

This is a really nice monitor and if you decide to pick one up you will be quite happy with it. The picture is beautiful and you are able to tweak it to your heart's content. It gets nice and bright as well. My favorite part though is the tiny tiny bezels. I usually buy monitors in pairs to extend my desktop and I hate seeing gaps if I happen to stretch an application across multiple screens. These are not nonexistent, but they are so tiny that I barely notice them. The built in usb hub and assorted jacks are also quite handy, though for things like large file transfers, I'd stick to connecting directly to your PC if you're using the monitor wirelessly. About the wireless functionality. It is fantastic. I was skeptical about how well it would perform. I was expecting significant latency and judder. I did not experience that at all. It was buttery smooth from minute one and remains so. Connecting to Windows 10 wirelessly was a snap. It practically did it for me. As soon as I turned the monitor on, Windows detected it and asked if I wanted to connect. I clicked yes and in an instant my display was mirrored. Just a quick trip into display settings l was switched into extended mode and enjoying life on the big screen (my laptop has only a 13" screen, so 27" seems huge by comparison). I only gave 4 stars because, while I do use Windows for my job, I am primarily a Mac user and there appears to be no way to use it as a wireless monitor with a Mac. I was still able to hook it up via HDMI and it worked absolutely great that way, but man oh man I wish it'd work wirelessly. It's just so convenient. All in all, this is a great monitor. If you're a Windows-only user, then I can't think of a reason you shouldn't pick one up. It's beautiful,, versatile, and just downright cool!

The monitor looks great and it has great anti glare properties but after just a month of usage, I now see a black shadow on the right side of the monitor. I’m very disappointed. I’m taking to BestBuy in the morning.

The HP U27 4K Wireless monitor is amazing. It came well packed and assembly was quick and easy – no tools needed. The two screws that needed tightening have a flip up handle to twist and turn. The monitor adjusts up and down and swivels very smoothly. It stays in place without any slippage. There is a hook in the back to feed the cords through so they do not interfere with the adjustments. The picture is amazing and crystal clear regardless of the viewing angle. As with many products, the instructions are lacking. Since they need to work for the hundreds of languages used by potential buyers, they are mostly pictures. I had an extra part that I finally determined was for the optional wall-mounting bracket. The instructions to connect wirelessly are simply to press the Windows and “K” keys on the computer keyboard. This initiates a search for a new device. The first time I did that, the HP monitor was a choice, but after it tried to connect I got a response of “that didn’t work”. After that I could not get the computer to recognize the monitor as a new device wirelessly. There is an expanded on-line manual on the HP website with instructions for using the monitor menu button to access the wireless settings and I tried pairing that way, but still no luck. I was unable to find any troubleshooting help for this monitor on the HP website. I went to Best Buy for help, but since this product is new they were not familiar with it. I was able to connect to the computer using the HDMI cables, but was hoping to use the monitor wirelessly. I believe I have all the necessary requirements and the YouTube videos make it look simple so I will keep trying. It is a fantastic monitor as far as looks, adjustability, viewing angles and clarity go. An improvement would be the availability of detailed instructions for connecting wirelessly as well as troubleshooting help.

Fantastic clarity, high-resolution options. I appreciate the adjustable height (so many don’t any longer it seems) and the clear picture from any angle. The wireless option is ok. I’m using this for teleworking and my work laptop is finicky at best with such connections (Federal Gov’t device) so I opted for a wired setup. But the wireless works well if that’s a preferred option.

The HP U27 4k wireless monitor is a big beautiful monitor that I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for top notch visuals when using a computer to consume entertainment. I upgraded from a 23 inch HP monitor to the U27 4k wireless monitor about a week ago and have almost no complaints. First, I’m thoroughly impressed with the design and sturdiness of the stand. The stand is solid, well built, & very functional. You can easily raise/lower the height on the monitor, rotate the monitor around on its base, & tilt the monitor to match whatever viewing angle you desire. HP also includes a wall mount in the box if you choose to put the monitor on a wall, which is a nice bonus. One more thing to note is that the base has a clip/channel built into it that can hold the power cord & HDMI cord to keep the wires organized, which is also a nice little touch. As for the display itself, it’s big. Noticeably bigger than the 23 inch monitor I had previously, more so than I expected. The bezels are tiny all the way around display. The controls are all on the lower/bottom edge. There’s a power button and 4 additional buttons to control display & sound settings. Available connections include 1 HDMI, 1 display port, 3 USB, & a headphone jack. Once you connect power and HDMI, the picture the U27 produces is beautiful. Text is crisp and sharp. Videos are colorful. Gaming looks great. I mean this is a 4k monitor. If the content you are consuming is 4k, this monitor will display it as intended, it all its glory. The display has built in sound, which is surprisingly good. With this monitor, my PC has become my de facto Xbox since the wife has taken the TV over with the hallmark channel for the holidays, and I have no audio or visual complaints. Gears 5 looks amazing on here. The feature that really intrigued my interest was the wireless feature and it’s very underwhelming. Since I’ve been working remotely, I’ve looked for ways to optimize my workspace (better known as my couch) and thought this would help reduce some clutter with less wires. Unfortunately, the wireless aspect doesn’t work as imagined. The first and bigger issue is my work computer doesn’t allow the wireless connection, so that’s definitely something to make sure of with your IT department if that is something you are trying to do. The second issue it that my personal PC will not automatically connect to the display wirelessly. The wireless feature would work great as a second display, but not a first display. Despite the functionality of the wireless part of the U27 4k wireless display, this is a highly recommended display. It does everything that you’d want from a display very well. Solid build, appealing form factor, great picture and decent sound all in one package. Overall a great product.

Working from home can be less than ideal when your computer and monitors are not what you are used to doing your work on. At work, I have three 27" monitors on my desk. At home, I have 2 smaller monitors. I was eager to try this monitor. The 27" size and 4k really caught my interest. Out of the box, I found everything that I needed including an HDMI cable, VESA mount, simplified instructions and, of course, the monitor and power supply. I was able to quickly set it up. I mounted it on a double arm monitor tree and connected it to my computer. This lets me adjust the height, which is important because the VESA mount makes it sit high on the tree. I see other reviews mentioning that there isn't any height adjustment with the stand. The stand mine came with has about six inches of height adjustment. I have mine plugged into my desktop computer. I haven't had a chance to test out the wireless connectivity. When the display first came on, all I could think was wow! It was just like watching my 4K tv. The bezel around it is narrow, which is really nice when you are looking between multiple screens. I wish I had the black bezel though instead of the silver. The response time is fast. I like the matte finish on the screen. Working from home, I have a window behind me. Even with the blinds closed, I get some glare. That is reduced with the matte finish. The sound is decent and it is nice to have the sound with the display. My only issue is that now that I have used this monitor, I'm going to have to buy at least one more. Having it next to my older monitor makes the difference in resolution really obvious not to mention how much it has eased my eye strain.

The setup and performance of the monitor is to specification, but the wireless pairing is a pretty neat trick. While I don't use it terribly often, it has come in handy a couple times when I need to display something quickly but don't want to bother with docking everything. The build quality of the monitor is excellent, as you'd expect from a monitor of this brand and price point. I like the docking stand with separate VESA attachment. I haven't mounted this monitor, but it seems much more streamlined to accomplish it this way than it is with the bulkier monitors that have the VESA holes on the back cabinet. It also seems much more sturdy if you were to go that route. I've had those VESA posts pop out, but this separate docked VESA bracket is very sturdy.
