Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the Alloy Origins keyboard's high build quality, bright and attractive RGB backlighting, and satisfying key feel. Many appreciate the keyboard's ease of use and setup. While some users found the software to have limitations, the positive feedback on other features outweighs this concern.

    Overall a good keyboard

Keyboard feels good to use. Has a lot of weight compared to any other keyboard ive used, which means its durable and wont slide around too much over time. You can preset the colors through the app to get it to match your setup, but it seems to take s bit longer than the rest of my setup to apply your settings after startup, meaning for about a minute after powering on it defaults to the rainbow colors

This is my very first mechanical keyboard. All I have to say is I'm very impressed with the build quality (all-metal chassis) and the customizable presets of the RGB lights.

L key stopped functioning properly within 6 weeks

The good: Keyboard has a decent feel, it's solid and has some weight to it. It looks great. It comes with a lot of really great RGB options, and it was cheap for a mechanical keyboard. The bad: After a month the L key stopped working. I can still use the key, but it does not register taps unless I forcefully tap on it. The depress is no different than any other key, and nothing was spilled on the keyboard in the 5-6 weeks of ownership. I had a similar problem with a cheap Thermaltake keyboard that I bought from Best Buy many years ago. I don't think I will buy another mechanical keyboard in this price range since I'm now 0 for 2. Hopefully HyperX makes it right and their replacement keyboard is a better quality.

Superior quality build. Smooth, reliable switches.

HyperX's own red (linear) switches are smooth and satisfying for both typing and gaming. The aluminum frame is sturdy and durable while giving the board a clean and minimalist aesthetic. The three options to adjust the keyboard angle lets you setup in whatever position is most comfortable for you. RGB backlighting under every key shines bright and is a welcome addition to an already solid keyboard.

    Great quality and switches.

Pros: - Quality, heavy frame. - Sleek, simple, and compact. - Extremely smooth-feeling switches. - Detachable USB-C cable. - NGENUITY software is easy to use. Cons: - NGENUITY software still in beta. The keyboard overall feels well-made and durable because of its aluminum frame. I really like the simple look of the keyboard. It is very modern and allows the RGB backlight to really shine. The compact design and detachable USB-C cable makes transporting the keyboard easy. The detachable USB-C also allows for easy replacement and wire length changes. The red switches are incredibly smooth and responsive with a low actuation force. Great switches if you do not want the clicking noise or feeling. I do not utilize it much, but the customizable RGB backlighting and the ability to set macros is nice. However, seeing as the software for this device is still in beta, there are currently limitations to these features and the possibility of bugs/glitches. Seeing as I am looking into using these functions more, I may find some issues with it. Overall, it is a well-made, great feeling mechanical keyboard. However, the current state of the software may not be as robust you want it to be. That being said, the software is still being updated so it will improve.

The HyperX Origin is an amazing keyboard. The new switches HyperX put out are better than Gateron switches in smoothness and actuation. The stabs seem to preform pretty good for a name brand company with aluminum for their case. Normally stabilizers for longer keys like spacebars have a horrendous ping with this type of case. I really like the software that comes with the keyboard as well. My favorite effect is the Sun triggered effect.

To start, i love the build quality and the feel of this keyboard. It doubles as my work from home keyboard and gaming keyboard. Everything is very responsive, only missed keys are due to my own clumsiness. It has some heft to it so i dont feel like im going to break it if hitting it too hard. The downside is the software/on-board memory. I'm not sure if it's one or both, but the settings keep resetting. Since i haven't done much with assigned keys its been more annoying than critical issue, but it is an issue. If you plan on doing multiple profiles with assigned keys do some research first into this issue, I may just be unlucky. If you dont care about that and just an excellent functioning keyboard I'd recommend it.

Very nice mechanical kb. Seems solidly built. I'm satisfied at the $110 price. I only use the solid white key color, but the options in the sw are impressive. Great feeling switches. Not too clicky. Two minor nitpicks. The logo on the space bar is a bit too bright in a darkened room. You may be able to remedy this in the sw. I put a piece of tape over it. Also, I am not a fan of number key design with the shift characters to the side of the number rather than in a vertical orientation.

I love this keyboard! it's so easy to use, the shortcuts are so simple. love the vibrant colors and options. The BEST part of this keyboard is the feel of the keys, omg I hate using my work keyboard, and because I work with sensitive data I supposedly can't plug this keyboard in even though it has no interference with data ... anyway, this keyboard is AWESOME

This keyboard is amazing! The keys feel great and they are just the right amount of clicks! They aren’t the loud type but still have good feedback when you press them. It’s slims and not as large as others especially with a num pad. The RGB lights are amazing and can customize them how you want. Definitely a great keyboard for the price. It’s built really well.

Absolutely LOVING this keyboard. Feels good, heavier than I expected but that just gives me the perception of good quality, so happy with it for sure. Feels extremely comfortable jumping a generic cyberpower keyboard to this... the spacing, my typing habits etc.... I've felt minimal spacing adjustments in how i hit the keystrokes, which I think is a tremendous thing for a new keyboard to accomplish and it just might be sheer luck between my old keyboard design and this. Clicky but not too much. At least its not bleeding through my logitech headset on discord so im not annoying everyone with my strokes. Got the black with "linear (red)" keys. The color patterns looks sweet, I kept the generic Wave one and looks phenomenal. Bright too even in daylight so yay!. Even scored a discount during the Holidays, heck yeah.

Big fan of this keyboard. The switches are nice linear ones. And they have an actuation point of 1.8 mm. Not groundbreaking but if you're looking for a small competitive edge this is a slight step up from the standard 2 mm actuation point on most keyboards. But there are switches out there that have 1.5 mm actuation points. Although I am not a huge fan (of RGB), the RGB shines VERY nicely hrough the regular keycaps. However the keycaps are made of ABS plastic and will shine as they wear down (not prettily). Main downside is that HyperX's software to control the RGB is not so great. The removable USB-C cable is nice and braided. The body feels really solid, no signs that it's cheap.
