Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the offGRID™ 2220 mAh Moto Mod Portable Charger for its extended battery life and wireless charging capabilities. Many users have commented on how it conveniently adds a significant amount of battery life to their phones. The magnetic attachment and slim profile of the charger are also well-received, with customers describing it as easy to use and unobtrusive. While some users have mentioned that the charger adds noticeable weight to the phone and can become warm during use, these concerns seem to be outweighed by the positive feedback on its functionality and design.

The Incipio - offGRID™ 2220 mAh Moto Mod Portable Charger - Black is a good start to the battery supply. You click the pack onto your Moto Mod compatible phone and it recognizes the pack after a second or 2. You can set the pack to maximum charge where it will try to keep your phone at 100% charge or at Efficient charge where it will charge your phone to 80%. The pack is Qi and PMA wireless compatible so you can charge just the pack or the pack and phone together wirelessly. I have found the way to get the most out of it is to wait till my phone actually runs down to 30% or less then click on the pack, that way I can run my phone in low power or efficiency mode PROS: Max or Efficient mode available, Wireless charging compatible, leaves the USB port open for other things. CONS: When you put the pack on the phone will not go into its own Low power (efficiency) mode since it believes it is being charged

Great add on for Moto z phones. Used on a daily basis for over a year. Easy to connect, and keeps phone charged for incredible battery life. Did occasionally use it for wireless charging, and worked well with that as well. Only negatives: cannot be charged separately from the phone and if, as is in my case, the phone itself stops working correctly, the battery pack is then useless as it cannot be used for any phone outside the Moto z line.

This add on attaches magnetically like all Moto mods. Fits perfectly but it does add substantial weight to the phone. It allows charging the phone wirelessly. I don't have hard numbers but based on the built in battery capacity compared to this back you should nearly double your time between recharges.

This Incipio Moto mod is the best! I owned an HTC one Max prior to the Moto Z2 force Which had a good feel in the hand and when I added the Incipio to it it really made the Moto feel like I could grip it. The extended battery life has been great along with wireless charging (5 stars).

You can use this battery pack in a couple different ways. It can drain itself into the phone's battery completely (charging the phone from 0 to around 50-60%), or set to charge your internal battery every time the internal battery drops below 80%. Adds quite a bit of bulk to the razor-thin phone. Slightly grippy.

Thus far, this battery pack has been great! The main reason I'm writing a review is that I wanted to clarify a concern I had when shopping for this item. Although I searched several different sites, reviews, etc., I could not find out if this pack would allow a phone to stick to a magnet mount, as I did not want to stick a metal plate on the back of it, and thus potentially interfere with wireless charging. Just to assure anyone else in the same boat, it IS indeed able to stick to a magnet mount, and well...so well, in fact, I have to make sure to grab the phone by covering the edges of the battery to ensure that it does not remain stuck to the Aukey car vent magnet mount in my vehicle when I remove my phone.

wireless charging has some issues...when it is connected with my moto z2 play, it detects but no charges... every 10 or more seconds it would show detecting charge but stays at that way. certain brand names work with this like Belkin with 15 W output. charges fine with out phone full battery. default will eat the battery to keep the 100% on phone gets the job done but runs dead by the end of the day. efficiency could last 2 days until night before charge maybe 3 if you do not touch it at all. like leaving it at work locker or car. other than that glad i bought it to see how wireless charging with 2220 mAh of power bank can do thank you best buy! sell us more cool stuff!!!!

Love this mod. Not only does it give me an instant battery good for a good 5-6 hours of hardcore usage but it also gives a little more grip to your phone. Moto/Lenovo is not getting enough credit. This is my favorite phone so far and I have had iPhone, Samsung, HTC. This smart phone is just smarter. From notification glance to double chop flashlight. I could go on and on. I think they put there money into making a kickass phone. Instead of marketing.. hint hint Samsung

This is probably the smartest way to get additional battery life on the go that any smartphone/accessory company has come up with so far. Some phones have user-changeable batteries, which is only so useful in a pinch because you have to power down the phone, pop out the dead battery, pop in the charged one, then turn the phone back on again. Portable "charging banks" are slightly better, because you neither have to power down your phone nor find a wall outlet to charge up, but in the end you're still tethered by a wire of some kind to the power bank which is awkward at best if you're moving around. Then there's this... the Moto Mod implementation of the power bank. Getting low on battery? Grab one of these, it magnetically attaches to the back of any Moto Z family phone, and boom, you get an extra 2220 mAh of battery. Granted, this is not as much capacity as most portable power banks offer (those can be as high as 10,000 mAh or more) but it's certainly enough to give the phone a good amount of additional battery life. To address a complaint I've seen around the internet: "this charges the phone slowly". Yes, that is more or less correct, as it has a max output of 1A. However, this is not really an issue. What I have found is that if you're actively using the phone with this attached, it seems to mostly draw battery from the power pack rather than the phone's battery. If the drain isn't high enough, or if the phone is mostly idle, it will charge up the phone's battery at a moderate pace (wayyy slower than the Turbo wall charger, but again, fast enough for most uses). Mine has even kept pace and very slowly increased my phone's battery while using navigation and playing an audio book at the same time. This to me is perfectly acceptable. If they pushed more current out of the power pack, all of the extra heat generated would reduce the battery life and longevity of both batteries, so I am 100% happy with the speed they chose. One last note: buy the wireless charging one (this one, or the wireless charging version of the Kate Spade or Tumi ones). They are only $10 more for the wireless charging, and it makes this way more convenient. I can completely drain one of these on my phone, then just pop it on the wireless charger while I keep using my phone. The non-wireless charging ones have to be charged while connected to the phone, and the phone to the wall charger. It's less convenient, but still works out okay... We have one of these and one of the non-wireless charging Kate Spade ones, and I wish I had just forked over the extra $10 for the wireless charging Kate Spade one. I give this 4 stars. Good quality, amazing portability. For the features, I think this is quite a bit overpriced. I was able to get mine partially on sale and partially with a gift card, so it wan't too bad, but it would be hard to justify the list price under most circumstances. So 4 stars overall.

Purchased this particular "mod" after researching the various battery cases available for the Moto "Z" line of phones. What makes this a no-brainer to purchase is the fact that it is actually 2 mods...A wireless charger as well as a battery. It will recharge the phone and itself wirelessly if attached or it will wirelessly charge if placed on the wireless charger by itself... Extends the battery capacity if in a situation that a charge might not be available. Considering the current price, it's a good buy considering a wireless cover is $30-$40 and a comparable (as far as capacity) battery case is the same $30-$40 and this does both in one unit! This adds a texture to the back of the phone so it makes the whole package a bit easier to grip, which is nice! It does almost double the thickness of the phone but the Play z2 is very thin to begin with so it makes the whole thing comparable to most other phones as far as thickness. I have dropped the phone a number of times with the battery attached and it just fell off when it hit the ground so it will provide some protection and is very easy to just "snap" back on...No damage or scratching.

Connects to back of Moto Z Droid Force cell phone via magnet. Holds in place perfectly. The Moto Z droid force then shows how much power you have in both the cell phone as well as the extra battery pack. The phone takes the power out of the battery pack and uses it to recharge the phone itself. The battery pack recharges at a decent speed.

Had this a couple of days before returning it for the style shell with wireless charging. I bought it on sale for $55. It adds about a day or a little less in efficiency mode, which keeps your moto z at 80%. I drained the battery pack down to about 64% charging my phone roughly 26%. Its potential is fully utilized in efficiency mode. Recharging it takes less than 2 hours via wireless charger. Unfortunately everything moto, phones and mods, don't quick charge with anything other than moto's turbopower chargers (not that there's a wireless turbopower charger). I wouldn't recommend buying this at full price when a moto turbopower pack is available for the same price with 1200+ mAh more and turbopower charging capable (both with the wall charger to the pack, and from the pack to the phone). It is slightly slimmer, lighter, and better textured (slightly grippier) than the moto turbopower pack, though. Again, don't buy this at full price.

This battery mod attaches easily to the back of any Moto Z phone. It allows you to continue using the phone without being limited by a cord when your battery is low. If you put this on when your battery is about 15% and keep using it, the mod will recharge your phone well past the 50% mark. Also, this mod charges wirelessly (Qi charging) whether connected to the phone or not. If it is connected to the phone, it will charge the phone wirelessly as well. Fits snugly to the back of the phone and doesn't add much bulk. Moto Z Play gets such awesome battery life that it is rarely needed but it is nice to have anyway.
