Good projector for the price!

I bought this because of the high contrast ratio and the low price. I've used Infocus projectors before in a business environment and they have always proved to be bright enough for any room. This one did not disappoint! I ultimately bought the Epson 2045 though because I wanted screen mirroring and the colors were brighter... But, for the price you can't beat this one!

Went through 3 projectors until I tried this one. Colors are very accurate from the 3 I tried and is very sharp. You can't beat the quality of this projector for the price.

Small, quiet, and fairly bright. This was a great deal (Deal of the Day) for what you get. Not as much contrast as some projectors, but they are 2-5x the price

Suspect Performance Specifications

I was disappointed in this projector. Although rated at 3500 lumens with a 25,000 to 1 contrast ratio, I don't believe it's actual real world performance approaches that. I was replacing a 3,200 lumen 720p projector and the Infocus was noticeably darker. Also, the color saturation at factory settings was oversaturated, and calibrating with the Disney WOW disc did not make the overall picture satisfactory. I don't know if I got a lemon or if the specifications on this projector are way overstated. Ultimately I returned it to Best Buy on their 100% satisfaction guarantee and they accepted the return graciously with no questions asked. I ended up with another brand of projector with similar specs but much better real world performance.

A good projector - feature packed.

Pros:
-This projector has many nice features - contrast ratios/keystone correction (automatic - although leads to more light bleeding/smaller image)
-manual zoom and focus (an important pro in my case)
-It is very bright which works well even in daytime viewing even in eco mode
-There are a few automatic color options in the menu that can adjust the image depending on if you project onto a beige wall or a white wall.
-The fan is not too loud to be distracting
-keeps up pretty well with 2D fast moving images
-very portable if needed
- I didn't notice any rainbows, but I don't have a problem seeing them
neutral:
- It's placement requires a bit of work because of the inherent zoom in it so it winds up being either slightly in front of or behind of seating (use Infocus' calculator to make sure you have the right set up: http://www.infocus.com/#projectioncalculator)
- There are times where the image color can be off, I haven't been able to figure out if this is a source issue or if the projector has a warm/brown bias and intermittent sharpness issues
Cons:
-The 3D image is choppy on fast moving scenes/ojects
-There seems to be too much light bleeding off the screen - could be corrected if you have a nice frame/other ways to control this
-Dust magnet, although DLP advertise there is no filter - you should clean it regularly
- A small heater (light canon - so this was expected)
Conclusions:
Good projector for the money, especially below the $500 mark. If 2D is what is being used the most, then it is probably a good buy when it goes on sale. At $550 and above, there are better options for projectors. The brightness of the projector at the price is rare currently. We were hoping for better 3D performance with the brightness because of the lack of very bright sub $500 3D projectors. If 3D is important to you, I would suggest looking at other options.

This was my first attempt on a Home theater projector and it failed the test. I returned it yesterday and purchased the optima hd141x. With limited review on the infocus I took a chance and was disappointed overall. Brightness was sufficient but the colors always appeared off and could not be dialed in. Depending on what I watched I would have to continue to play with the settings to get a picture I could compromise with. I know that this is an entry level projector but I think infocus could have done more to compete. The noise was tolerable but something smelled very bad coming from the fan after only an hour of use.

Got this projector for work and am pleased with it. It is used in a bright room and is bright enough to be used with the lights on. Although it is more geared toward home cinema there are modes that enhance use with a computer so it worked out quite well.

This item is advertised as a Home theater Projector but in reality it is more suited to Office environment.
If you are looking for a cheap option for home use to watch movies occasionally, then this would be OK (hence the three stars)..

For the price I bought two of this HD 1080p 3d projectors for my two sons. We are so impressed with the quality and resolution of the screen at 120 inches. The 3d works great too!

We have used this projector for several months and have enjoyed it very much. Movies look clear with crisp visuals. We have used it primarily for outdoor movies and am impressed with color it displays. If you are looking for an all around solid unit, this will do the trick.
