Insignia Vs The Others

Samsung & Sony are pretty much the only product lines I buy. Since the tv at home decided to die it was time to look into a Smart TV. I was concerned (more paranoid)in knowing Samsung SmartTv's had cameras & mics. I'm sorry. But listening in on you & your family conversations is very invasive. So big fat NO on Samsung.
Sony. Love them. But. Repairs & replacement parts cost as much as a new line of product being sold. Sony needs to reconsider pricing strategies. So another NO to Sony.
Best Buy and the gentleman who helped us gave a run down on Insignia. The pro's & con's. Went over the warranty info and SOLD me a 48" HD Roku Smart TV. Walked out the door w/a 2yr warranty and new TV for less than $450
Picture quality is very good. TV built in speakers aren't bad. But we have our tv going through surround sound speakers. Even the quality of the pic comes through on antenna. Great line of streaming media to enjoy.
I couldn't be more pleased than I am with this purchase of Best Buy's house brand Insignia!

This tv was replacing a 29" in my sitting room. I wanted something bigger and fairly cheap since the sitting room is rarely utilized. This was almost the cheapest I found but I liked the built in features it advertised so I chose this one. Now if I hadn't of had to bring this tv up two flights of stairs in my house all by myself I would've brought it back to the store. I hate hate hate the two tv stands on the sides and wish there was one right in the middle. It makes the tv sit so far from the wall because they stick out in the front and back about 5 inches each. And there's no normal remote. It's just a Roku stick. Annoying. I absolutely couldn't stand not having a normal remote so I found a compatible Insignia one on eBay for $9. No biggie. The distance from the tv to the wall still irks my nerves but I'm definitely too lazy to bring it back now. And I burned the box in my fire pit.

Great Price to Value ratio, mediocre sound

I picked up this unit around Thanksgiving, taking advantage of available discounts. I already have a rear-projection media setup in the basement, this was just something to have upstairs in the living room area when people are grouped around talking/cooking/eating.
My media room currently uses a FireTv. I mostly stream all my media so I was primarily looking for something with good picture, built in access to netflix, hulu, etc, and with good sound (so I could hopefully avoid having to get a sound system).
This met almost all my requirements, and at it's normal purchase price, was already a great deal. The screen is bright, pictures sharp, and I'm quite pleased with the quality when watching HD content. The roku capability is a big plus. That said, I have noticed that despite being one of the closest devices to my wireless router, the TV has about the same connectivity as the FireTv in my basement. This is particularly noticeable when streaming Hulu (actually on both devices). For some reason, other services seem to adjust to the available bandwidth an a fashion where I rarely notice.
When streaming sitcom like shows, the sound is decent, though the difference in quality by comparison to something with dedicated auto processing is noticeable. Switch to movies and the sound drops to mediocre.
Other than that, I think it's a good deal. If you already have an external sound set up, this can be a great addition to your TV room - just don't locate it too far from your router.

Great TV, but app is a clunker

Part of what attracted me to a Roku TV was the selling point that I could use my phone as a remote control. With young kids in the house, remotes tend to be lost more than they are found. The Roku app, though, is just plain not good. First, the TV has to be on for your phone to do anything, so you cannot turn the TV on with the phone. Otherwise, the app feels slow and has less functionality than I thought it would. There's no "quick FF", which is something you get used to for help to jump ahead through commercials on pre-recorded stuff.
As far as I can tell, there's no way to rearrange the apps on the home screen, besides deleting and re-adding, which is a bummer because I didn't think about adding the mlb app right away since it was the offseason, so now it's all the way at the bottom even though I use it all the time now.
My complaints seem pretty nit-picky, and they are, because overall the TV is great. The quality is good, the size is good. The sound is good, but maybe too good. We keep the volume between 10 and 20, but it appears to go up to 100? I don't know why TVs get loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage, but they do, and when a toddler grabs the remote and holds down the volume button, it's one of life's most terrifying moments as you feel impending deafness ready to crush your eardrums while you run towards them and grab the remote to frantically fumble for the volume-down button.
Other than that, it's wonderful.

I had been delaying the purchase of a big-screen television until I bought the appropriate furniture to display it...and in the meanwhile, prices kept coming down. I first bought a 40", but after seeing it set up, figured I can go bigger. Positive reviews in Consumer Reports influenced me to buy the Insignia, and the price value and technical features influenced me to try a Smart tv - despite my not being "smart" when it comes to modern technology!
I am very satisfied with this purchase - the smart tv utilizes internet Wi-Fi for You Tube, Netflix, and other program - I love it! I initially had issues with the relative poor sound quality of the set (the same as with the 40" tv - where the volume had to be at maximum levels to hear the tv programs. I corrected that deficiency by connecting the tv to my stereo system thru the tv headphone jack. I can now hear all the stereo broadcasts.
Until I purchase the next generation of big screen TV's (4DUHD), I will be satisfied with this set!

So I was looking for something decent, cheap, with some smart tv functionality for my living room. Cheap because I already have an awesome media setup and this will not be used as often. Decent because since it won't see as much use, it'll take me longer to feel like I've amortized the cost, and smart because most of my tv consumption is via online streaming services.
I'm happy to say this hits all of those points and does it pretty well. The screen is pretty nice. For just watching HD streaming media, it does great. It connected to my wifi without problems and the Roku experience works well. The speakers aren't that great, but that's to be expected. For what you might save compared to other TVs, one can easily grab a decent room filling audio solution..

My last TV was an insignia so I decided to go with another one because I decided to wait a couple more years to buy a 4K TV. I wanted a little bigger TV than my 36 in and didn't want to pay a lot. I found this one on sale at Best Buy and couldn't find it any where else after researching the refresh rate and its importance or lack there of I decided to buy this one. I love it light weight so I could handle purchasing and setting it up myself. Very easy. Great picture and I love the built in roku which seems to have a strong signal. I was able to adjust the picture settings to make it look even better. Tweaking it so that it was better than the "norm". Very happy with my purchase.

I was really pleasantly surprised at this TV - was looking for cheaper large screen TV, but decent quality, to use downstairs as a gaming TV for our kids. With a few minor adjustments the picture is actually fantastic. Have had for a full year now, and it's been a great TV. What's most enjoyable is the Roku interface for controlling all aspects of the TV - really very slick, wish all my TVs had this interface. Occasionally it will take a little extra time to "boot up" when turned on (20 seconds or so) - I believe it's because it's checking network connectivity and any updates for Roku interface, but other than that minor annoyance it's been great.

We purchased this TV for our son for Christmas. We had bought a Westinghouse online from Best Buy and then went to the store to take a look at it (hind sight we should have done this first). They did not have any on display. We inquired as to why and were told that every one they had sold the year before had been returned. My question was, "Then why sell it?" After a whole lot of hassle trying to cancel our order we decided to let it be delivered and then return it. We purchased this TV instead. My son was thrilled with the smart TV. The sound is great and the picture very clear. He uses Sling, Roku etc for streaming and this was the perfect choice for him.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with this TV so far. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, multiple ports to handle all necessary devices...and having Roku's user interface have all been positives. The picture is crisp, handles HD, Blu-ray and standard programming really well. The only downfall is the audio output levels. Maybe I need to have my hearing checked, but it seems to be on the lower side. In order for me to truly get immersed in the programming I am watching, I have to put the volume in the 60 range...out of 100. Still a great all around TV purchase.

My daughter and I bought this TV for my mother - with whom we reside - as a Christmas gift. She'd mentioned repeatedly that she wanted a larger TV over the past few months, so with Christmas coming up, we decided to do it. What a great purchase! Not only was the price right, but it's easy to use and it's a TV with smart features. My mother is thrilled, and we couldn't have made a better selection, believe me!

I am floored with this TV. I looked at the reviews, walked into the store and looked at the picture. Looked at other TV's but kept coming to this one. This TV fit perfect in the space that I needed one. Also, my XBox 1 games look amazing on it. Definitely a good TV. Plus the Wireless Internet connectivity makes it better!

I bought this for my boyfriends 50th birthday, He loved it. He had been talking about a Smart TV for months. I told him I wanted him to have something that if he broke up with me he would have to look at it everyday, Too bad that comment came true LOL. Picture was great and menu was so easy to use. So much better not having separate remotes to stream. Light and thin.

You can't beat the price for a smart TV. It's great for Netflix and Hulu, but not Sling TV. It's hit and miss trying to load that one, so I will be canceling my subscription. I don't know if it's the TV or the network, but it's not worth the cost if it only works when it wants to. Other than that, the only thing I don't like is the Roku remote does not have numbers, so the only way to switch between programs is to channel up or down. It's annoying if you like to go back and forth between shows like I do. I can't tell you if the same would be true if you have cable. I cut that cord long ago and just have an over-the-air antenna, which also works well with this TV. Overall, a really good deal for a smart TV and I can live with the deficiencies I mentioned to save $100 on another brand.

Excellent TV for the price. Stunning picture, good sound and awesome interface. The ROKU TV is an added bonus!
This is tech that is 2 years old and that's why the TV is less expensive. This is my 2nd Insignia Flat Screen TV. My 55" LCD is still hanging and entertaining in my living room 6 years after I bought it.
Great Brand, Great Product and Great Price.

My husband and I are currently living with my parents while we transition to a new home and we are using our TV. We are now in the process of moving out and wanted to get my parents a TV to say thank you. Before I started looking around I had no idea they now made TVs with the Roku built right in. This is perfect because it is one less thing that we had to buy and it will be easy for my parents to switch between live TV and Netflix.

I bought this as an open box for a Christmas gift for my wife and had it shipped to my work. The packaging had me a little worried and it was still set up for the previous owner. I reset it to factory defaults and set it up. My family loves it. Our 4 year old and my mother in-law can navigate the remote easily and we love the size of it. I did buy a cheap sound bar for it also. We have only had it a month but so far so good.

This was my first time buying a tv on my own. I'm happy that I brought this tv. The size of the tv is great for my living area, not to big not to small. Setup was very fast and easy. The reason I did not give this tv five stars is because the audio is very low. The vloume has to be very high to hear the people talking on the tv. I did purchase the soundbar which makes a big difference. Overall I really happy with my purchase

Out of the box I was impressed with the build quality and solid feel of this TV. Once plugged in set up was a breeze, and picture and sound quality were exceptional for a TV in this price range. I love having the Roku interface built in, and TV control through the Roku remote is not as cumbersome or limited as I thought it might be. This was money well spent.
