Nice case, but the bottom corners of the computer at the hinge started cracking pretty quickly after not very intense use.

Just with regular handprints, causes oily smudges. See photo.

We all know the MacBook Air is a beautifully designed machine. As much as I want to show it off, I also want to keep it protected so I opted to put a hard shell case on it. This case looks nice and sleek to me and keeps the laptop nice and light. It is thin but feels protective. It adds some grip to the laptop. It was very easy to install, and all the ports are still easily accessible. I like the clear frosted look. Your oily hands wont leave smudges on it. This is a nice case that should protect your MacBook from scuffs and scratches. It doesn’t add much weight and if you want to put stickers on your laptop, this is the best way to do it without getting the laptop full of gunk.

The use of form fitting cases for laptops in general for the most part is not really a top of mind thought of users unlike one who would protect his or her cell phone. Usually one would have a laptop bag or atr least a laptop sleeve which would practically fit a laptop depending on screen size. Form fitting cases are really not much of an option that comes to mind. But then again an investment concerning protection for your investment is always a good so especially if you are talking about an expensive laptop such as a Macbook Air or a Macbook Pro. Here comes the Insignia Macbook AIR 13.3" Hardshell Case. Designed to fit Macbook Airs released in 2018-2020, this is a custom designed form fitting case. Do note that there are other models for other Macbook models. So be sure to purchase the right one for your laptop. This case is simply straightforward to install in your Macbook. Comprised of two pieces, just clamp o lock them in the top and bottom of your and you are good to go. Do note that while it is labeled as clear the case itself is actually more of a translucent plastic similar to Tupperware plastic. For me this is better since this type of plastic is a bit flexible making it less prone to cracks and scratches. Most clear cases I have seen have the crystal clear plastic and is more brittle. I prefer this one more. And while form fitting cases are not for everyone, I really like the design of this case as it is more practical IMO and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a form fitting case for their Macbook.

This case is super easy to put on and really feels like it is providing solid protection. I had another case for my Air but I had gone out of my way to order a rose gold computer and I wanted to be able to show it off so the "clear" case sounded like the perfect solution. The case itself is more opaque than I would have thought but it still looks nice. It's super light and feels nice as well as strong.

This case is excellent. It is lightweight, doesn't add a lot of bulk, and the clearness allows for a fun look. My biggest complain about the unit is how easy it smudges. I have used it for more than a week and have it gets smudges within hours of use. The smudges clean easily, but can be a nuisance.

Cover fits excellent. Easy install & protects well. Light weight. Highly recommended.

I've been using it for the last few days and I think it looks sturdy and very protective of the exterior of my 2020 M1 Macbook Air. It fits perfectly. I am not concerned whether the display latch will break, but I'm worried that the plastic latches around the display will cause too much pressure and break the screen at some point. I don't know that. For my daily use, it did not cause overheating. However, since this is a plastic wrap on your metal device, it'll definitely reduce the heat dissipation and cause more heat to be stored on your device which may lead to lower performance if it heats up too much. I purchased it for $20, so I think it's a great value.

Honestly, I’m on the fence about this case. As it does a great job at protecting the device and is very low profile and attractive (in that sense.) But is not a clear color which runs my Gold color and picks up fingerprints like crazy making my “premium” device look cheap and dirty. I mostly took off a star for both the fingerprints and not being true "clear". PROS: • It gives great protection to your MacBook, while still being very low profile. Seriously, I have no doubts about it protecting against scratches and normal wear and tear. Not sure how it would hand a fall (outside of preventing denting/scratching which it would do great at). It covers the mass majority of vulnerable spots extremely well. You can still get to all your ports without any issues. This part is an easy 5/5. • Has a frosted look to it which some people may like where others won’t like it isn’t true “clear”. 2/5 here. • Has a mild rubber/slick feeling to it for added grip. 4/5. • Lightweight but is still 0.5 lbs. Which is noticeable on a device that normally weights 2.8 lbs. 4/5. • Allows you to still feel the metal when the case is open. 5/5. • Doesn’t inhibit the screen. You can’t feel it on the typing area at all. As it is very low profile. Allows you to still feel the metal of your MacBook when open. 5/5 • I didn’t physically scratch the material but it seems like the type that would kind of “repair” itself over time. 5/5 CONS: • It is difficult to put on and the instructions aren’t very good. I accidently had the top on wrong which would cause the bottom cover to pop when I tried to open my lid past 90%. Putting it on the correct way solved this, obviously. Pro Tip. For the lid the bottom part is where the clips are more centered, the top part is on the very edges. • Picks up fingerprints like a BOSS. Which then stick around and don’t go anywhere even if you try to clean them off. Unless if grab a damp, cloth and do it that way. I’m not someone who usually notices these things and they are all over my case making it look gross.1/5 • It’s not actually “clear”. As mentioned above it is more frosted clear which doesn’t look good on the Gold colorway. But I’d imagine it would look just fine on Silver or Space Grey (as it is more similar to that color. 2/5 • Included rubber feet aren’t very sticky. 2/5 • The top case makes the bezel slightly thicker. Which also sticks out by being clear over black. 5/5

The Insignia Macbook Air clear case seemed like an affordable way to add protection to my Wife’s M1 Macbook. The frosted clear case softens the color more than expected but fortunately doesn’t fully obscure the color of the Mac. I personally do not care for the white rubber feet (would have preferred black) but being on the bottom of the device it isn’t that noticeable. The case snapped on with ease and initially I was pleased with the look albeit not as nice as no case at all. Unfortunately that faded quickly as I noticed a few days later there was shiny or oily areas where maybe the case was handled. Since they did not clean off with a microfiber cloth and warm water I thought maybe they were under the case. Having used Speck cases on my Macbooks years ago, I figured I would just remove the case to clean it thoroughly. This case was more difficult to remove than anticipated and the corner snapped easily when I attempted to pull it off. Though it seemed like a nice cost effective option, I would look into another case that maybe is easier to remove if required.

Great and functional case, it does get finger stains but nothing that can’t be wiped out. Easy to clip on and has protected my macbook very well.

I've bought shells like these for year from other online retailers. All are pretty much the same form and concept to protect my MacBooks. This one in particular seems like it should protect just as well. Not too tricky to snap on and there are easy instructions in case you can't intuitively figure it out. My gripe is the description. It is called "clear" which I would certainly not call this one. More of a "matte translucent" would be more accurate. Clear to mean would be glossy and crystal clear. This is like a milk carton. I don't like the matte finish since it easily shows fingerprints and smears.

Does the job for a good price. Got this to protect a MacBook even if it’s in a bag. $15 for extra safety of an expensive product is worth it.

I knew I should try to find a case for my new MacBook even I bought it, and I was pleased to know Speck made a clear one that wouldn't take much away from the laptop. I’ve used their phone cases before and they were all pretty good, so it was no surprise that this case also delivered. Good quality, goo protection, and not too bulky… I love it. Want to try a black version later on, but overall very satisfied.

I have used this and it has cracked since, but still overall good value. Better it cracking than my macbook! This particular color leaves strange dusty marks on it though.
