Customers are saying

Customers value the Media Remote for its ease of use, affordability, and functionality. They appreciate the convenience of controlling their Xbox without the need for a controller, especially for streaming shows. However, some users have expressed concerns about the remote's line-of-sight requirement and the need for direct pointing, as well as its build quality and use of infrared technology.

Insignia Media remote for the Xbox One/Series Console's works really well. Inside the box you get documentation, batteries and the remote itself. I once the I had batteries placed inside the remote and press the top bottom on the remote it powered on my Xbox One X with no issues. My Sony tv which is KDL-40EX640 Model from 2012 works with remote in terms of volume and muting. Powering off the system will turn off the TV so I have no issues with that. Controls work as normal and the Remote feels like and older Apple TV 3rd Gen Remote in terms of design and weight is light so you should have a nice grip with it.

This is the best Xbox media remote & ive own the talon version & the rubber Xbox one media remote that got all dirty. The Range on this one is good. Fits snug in your hand. Simple remote that anybody can use whether they play Xbox or not. Not a whole bunch of buttons that DONT work like the Talon version & a dedicated back button so no need for the extra clutter of x y a & b buttons. It definitely feels better than the Xbox one media version. It feels like a bigger version of the original Apple TV remotes. It has that type of feel to it.

Bought this for my Series X since I stream a lot of content, and don’t like the idea of repeatedly turning on my controller each time I need to navigate from app to app, or title to title. Upon inputting the batteries the remote immediately works with my Series X; no need to program. The remote, however does have a narrow window for responsiveness/syncing w/ the Xbox. I have my Series X sitting atop an open sitting wardrobe approx. 4’11” tall, not enclosed, ~9 ft away from my couch on my right hand side. Though I don’t have to point the remote directly @my Series X, if I try to use the remote with my opposite hand, it proves unresponsive. It’s a minor inconvenience, but also a pro, since we have multiple Xbox’s in our house I don’t have to worry about this remote accidentally controlling an Xbox in a different room. Controls the guide, volume (turn on CEC on your Series X to sync that up with your HDMI 2.1 tv & eARC soundbar), D-pad w/ Select/Ok, & a few dedicated buttons: Back, View, Menu & the “Home” button doubles as the “Guide” button. I’ll give this remote a week of use on my Series X before I decide on buying another for my Xbox One X. So far, so good. No backlights on this remote, but I’d imagine the reason for that is to conserve battery life. Lastly, in my experience this remote is more compact, and works slightly better than the PDP Gaming Remote. The battery cover is also secure, and does not budge when handling the remote.

This remote does everything it advertised it does, my only complaint is it uses some line of sight communication aka it needs to be pointed right at the front of the xbox, if you jave the console behind the tv or in a cabinet the remote will struggle to work. Otherwise great buy for the price.

Best way to use the X box series X if your watching a movie! No more turning on my elite controller to pause what I'm watching! Second best investment!

I was anticipating the remote to be responsive but sadly it lags severely. It seems to be aiming more at people who are impaired which is impressive. I would not recommend this for a veteran gamer to add to there gaming arsenal.

Remote is intuitive to use; however, the remote has to be in line of sight of the Xbox to work. Which isn't good for me since my Xbox is stored on the wall behind the TV. Would be nice if the controller had another connection type.

Great substitute to using a controller. Do wish they'd either leave off the extea buttons or make them functional without needing to program the t.v. functions to work with it. Do find that sometimes it doesn’t function on the first push of a button and have to push it twice but only sometimes.

First off, I would like to disclose that I am an employee of Best Buy Co, Inc, so therefore I have received this product at a discount. The discount I received on this product does not positively or negatively impact my review. This media remote does what it should! It gets the media task done without having to turn on and connect a controller to your Xbox. I have mine connected to my Xbox Series X, which is hooked up to a 55” LG C1 OLED TV. I also have the PS5 media remote, and compared to the PS5 media remote which I like quite a bit, it has a few improvements, with the biggest one being the arrow pad is rubberized and has bigger buttons than the tiny plastic buttons on the PS5’s. I did have a small problem with getting the volume controls to work, but you have to turn on CEC on your Xbox and TV for it to work properly. All in all, it’s a great little remote for the price!

I have one of these for each of my Xbox’s. They will work with any Xbox one, S, X and Series X and S. I’ve tried the Microsoft brand remotes and prefer these to those. These feel better on my hand and I like the raised buttons better than the recessed buttons on the Microsoft version’s.

Everything works perfectly, except the volume is finicky. Majority of the time the volume operates, if slowly. Sometimes it won't change the volume at all and you have to go looking for the tv remote to do it. I've been through several brands though, and this one is the best I've used besides the original little xbox branded one that's no longer made. I'm back to buy another one, these aren't dog proof apparently lol.

The design of this remote is very functional and easy to use. I will say there choice in the way it communicates to the Xbox is a bit finicky. Sometimes I have to press the same button more then three times even when you have nothing in the way of the Xbox.
