Nicer than the other Card Readers!

This product is actually a very nice kit of accessories with a multi-card reader. I did not want a USB stick version card reader and preferred a USB cabled version. This included a very nice, sturdy, removable USB-C to USB-C device cable, PLUS one adapter for USB-C plug to traditional USB-A plug. It will be handy with this card reader AND many of my other devices such as cellphone. The card reader is lightweight with small silicone feet. It quickly operates SD, MicroSD, and the much older CompactFlash cards. Of these, only the MicroSD slot is spring loaded for removal. The spring was a little weak at first but I expect it will loosen up better with some time and usage. You may use all 3 card slots at once with this unit since it assigns different drive letters to each slot. Comfortable handheld size is similar to a small ROKU box (not stick). I think this is the best card reader available from Best Buy for just a little bit more cost than the others.

If you have a bunch of SD cards(both of the UHS-I AND UHS-II variety) one of these is a must-have for travel. It has A USB-C 3.1 receptacle so you can plug it into any blue USB port or USB-C(the one that looks like ( ----- ), on almost all new devices)

As soon as you connect this card reader it shows as three additional USB drives on your computer. Pending what card slot you use you will see all the files on that card with ease. With micro-sd, SD and CF card slots you can place something in all three and at USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds quickly and easily transfer between them and your PC. Since most micro-SD cards usually come with an SD card adapter, this makes it just as easy to exchange data between cards. It has a thick USB-C to USB-C cable, but also comes with a small USB-C to USB-A adapter. It’s quick, simple and gets the job done.
This claims to work with Windows, Mac, Chrome, iOS and Android. I do not have any Apple devices to try it on, but it worked as expected on my Windows/Chrome/Android devices. Considering how most phones do not come with memory card slots any more, this is an easy way to still use that old memory card you might still have. The cable is a bit bulky for compact storage and would have been better if it came with a little strap to help keep it wrapped up but it is long enough to use on a desktop computer that might be tucked away from reach.

Portable Memory Card Reader

What a nice memory card reader. I had tons of photos and it was super easy and fast to transfer with a click. The transfer speeds were really good. My favorite part about this is that it’s one you can take on the go, and you can use it with your iPad because it comes with a usb-c to usb-c cable. It’s a great alternative and much more cost effective than the adapter made by the folks who make the iPad, as well.
It’s a simple plug and play. And it is the same with my laptop. So I can switch between the two seamlessly. It also comes with a small adapter to make one end a simple usb, if you don’t have a usb-c connection available.
It is a bit on the lightweight side so it feels a bit cheap and delicate. However, due to its size and weight it’s extremely portable. But be careful moving about on your desk because it doesn’t have much weight it doesn’t sit flat and you can mistakenly knock it off. I highly recommend, as it works with many OS systems and multiple devices as long as you have a usb-c or usb connection.

This memory card reader does exactly what it says it does. I am a video media professional, so I am regularly transferring photos and videos, the SD card onto my laptop. This one allows you to read and write at the same time which is awesome and the transfer speed is within seconds. I’ve had no problems at all with it. If like me, you work with DSLR, drone, (I also have a Canon G7) and other similar set ups, the USB-C interface is super helpful as well. This is a must have if you are regularly working with media files, cameras, and such. I must also highlight how the brand insignia has improved over the years. There was a time where I could not trust a lot from this brand, but it has significantly improved, and this memory card reader is an example. It works with all platforms —- windows, Mac, Chrome so whatever you have it works. The only thing I can’t speak on is longevity. I have only had it for a few weeks now so I will see how long it lasts and if it’s still does the job as well and with as much speed in a couple of months….. it should at this price point.

Get This Dedicated Memory Card Reader

I’ve been looking for a dedicated memory card reader because…let’s just face it….some computers have them, and some don’t. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few PCs and laptops at home. More often than not, when I need to pull some data off of an SD card from the digital camera or from the vehicle dash cam, I don’t have a microSD card reader!
The Insignia MultiLun Card Reader can read SD, microSD and CF at USB3.2 Gen 1 speeds. That means it is capable of up to 5Gbps. It utilizes USB-C as its hookup to both the unit as well as your external device (PC, laptop, etc). It also comes with a USBC -> USBA adapter in the event that your device does not have USBC hookups. When attached, a blue LED indicator provides feedback that the unit is on and ready to read data. When a read/write operation is taking place, the blue LED flashes letting you know activity is taking place. With USBC, I’ve been able to move my GoPro videos, dashcam videos and my Sony camera photos into my PC with ease using this card reader. I have zero complaints about it.

Essential Content Creators, Laptop, & Mobile Tech

The Insignia MultiLun SD4.0 Card Reader is necessary in a mobile professional's life. You get a 1m USB-C cable and the card reader in the box. Holding this reader, you feel it is lightweight yet still quality. Made entirely of solid plastic composite, it's both durable and rigid having three card slots on the front orientating labels facing up for all three slots. The microSD clicks to lock, further increasing quality up to par with more expensive devices. As an added bonus, the minimalistic design language incorporates a matte black finish that is naturally fingerprint-resistant and doesn't scratch easily, in my experience.
Laptops and mobile devices no longer support card readers in favor of a cleaner look and increased efficiency, birthing dongle-life. Smaller than your driver's license, as thick as a deck of cards, and the subtle INSIGNIA branding makes this portable enough to go in any bag or pocket. If you don't already have a card reader or have grown tired of "old reliable" running on USB-A speeds, this should be in your bag without excuse. As a content creator and traveling business professional, this is the bridge to memory card land that sometimes may need to be crossed as you overcome challenges in the field or back up your work.
Content creators, photographers, and videographers alike will rejoice as they can take advantage of UHS-II cards and save on transfer times. Are you a mobile business professional who deals with memory card data harvesting? Search no more!!!! You will now be working on multiple cards SIMULTANOUSLY, thanks to MultiLun technology. You can offload any and all combinations of CF, SD, and microSD, effectively reducing your workflow and wait times. With support for SD, SDHC, SDXC, micro SD, micro SDXC, and CF type I memory cards, go to work on Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, iPadOS, and Android operating systems without issues. USB-C connection happens on the reader's right side, the card slots are on the front, and tiny foam feet help grip to keep it in place.
There is nothing but high performance here with support for UHS-II capable cards while also offering backward compatibility for UHS-I and older slower SD cards. All my cards were capable of hitting their advertised speeds in the reader, so I can highly recommend this! Transfer speeds can reach up to 5Gbps via the included USB-C. Should you need it, they also include a Type A adapter to convert the supplied cable. Enough rambling on about this necessary device but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this for anyone who needs a card reader because you get what you pay for!

Fast and Durable Card Reader

Anyone who takes a lot of pictures or video from a digital camera want to be able to transfer files quickly to a desktop or laptop quickly so that they can be edited or manipulated. I also have a microSD for my Ring Pro that I record video footage to, so being able to back that up quickly is nice feature too. I have a few different card readers and wanted to see if this Insignia card reader was any faster given it is USB-C capable with up to 5Gbps transfer speeds.
Long story short is that its not any faster than my old USB 3.1 Transcend card reader but that's because the SD card I use with my camera is limited to roughly 100MB/s or 1Gbps speeds. MicroSD is also limited to roughly 90MB/s. So I'll need to go back to the drawing board and see if there's any faster media that would exceed that limit.
However, the main benefit of this Reader is that it is Multi-LUN which in the virtual storage world means multiple Logical Unit Number which means you can mount and address multiple cards at once from the same reader! Now we're talking! Still somewhat niche feature but its nice if you want to do backups of multiple media at once, like SD and microSD at the same time.
Build quality is good and while the reader body feels sturdy, it is still light and wouldn't add significant weight to your laptop or camera bag so you can keep it with you on the go. The connection to the card reader body is usb-c and the other end is usb-c also but there is a usb-c to usb-a adapter in case you need to connect to usb-a on a laptop or desktop PC, or directly to a NAS for example.

Great Card Reader

This Insignia Multi Lun card reader is an excellent choice to read and transfer files quickly from your devices to you PC or phone. This far, I've used it with my Go Pro and well as my drone, both of which use onboard removable storage. Rather than work through using other singular adapters, I can insert them into this Multi Lun reader, and they transfer over USB C blazing fast. Multi Lun means that I can transfer from and to multiple cards at the same time, which works great for storage purposes, eliminating a step in some cases. Of course the speed is dependent upon what type and size of files, as well as quantity. This does come with an adapter for those that want to use a standard USB A port, speeds are limited to the device you are connecting to and the ports available on said device. The cable included is perfect at just over 3 ft. I found that it fits well in my laptop bag, and appreciate the simple indicator light, denoting when the device is powered. Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for and there isn't really any more I could ask for from it. The build quality is good, and it should last for as long as I need it to.

Reads my UHS-II SD cards fast

I am using the Insignia Multi-LUN SD4.0 MicroSD UHS-II USB-C USB-A Card Reader to read a Sony Tough SD card that's capable of 300MB/s read speeds. The card reader seems to work well and the transfer of files from the card to my PC seems very fast, especially with a UHS-II SD card. The USB-C cable is certainly heavy duty and probably longer than it really needs to be, but no complaints. The cable comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter for PCs or laptops that lack a USB-C port. The card reader operates at USB 3.2 Gen 1, which is capable of 5 Gbps. While not the fastest out there, it's certainly not an issue.
The card reader itself seems solid, built to hold up to use. It has a small blue LED that lets you know it's connected to your PC or laptop. It has rubber feet to protect your desktop as well. While the markings don't indicate which way to insert the cards, the labels should face the top of the reader which makes perfect sense. Overall, the Insignia card reader is perfect for using with my laptop both at home or out and about.

It's a perfect device for my work. I'm in video production and immediately after finish a location video shoot we transfer files to hard drives so they are carefully preserved.
I do the same with still photography shoots.
So this helps me with efficiencies and ensures I don't lose my footage if something happens to the media card.
Also, why I love coming to Best Buy. I was in a bit of a hurry and the sales associate knew exactly what I needed and found it for me quickly.

The Insignia card reader is an easy and convenient way to transfer images and information from one device to another. I use it to download pictures from the 'community camera' at a local nonprofit organization to a computer and then into a shared cloud folder. Easy and intuitive to use. Comes with an adapter to fit USB A or C devices. Small size makes it easy to tuck into a drawer or onto shelf so it is always handy and ready when you need it.
