Good Multifunctional Google Assistant Speaker

Saw a deal for this that was too good to pass up for a smart speaker especially since it was around the same price point as the google home mini with much better sound capabilities. Overall it definitely is a worthy purchase with a good home speaker that allows you to stream from various music sources or through blue-tooth as well as having all the capabilities of the google assistant and its connections to its various devices. The on display time and alarm clock is nice additions as well. Only complaint is that when music is playing a bit loud the speaker finds it hard to pick up your voice.

If On Serious Sale, It's a Great Buy

I'm a Google Home person and have the regular Home speaker and a Home-Mini, but they're expensive and the sound isn't all that great. I wanted something portable too and then these show up on my feeds as being for sale, like really for sale ($30), so I bought one to give a try. I was happy enough that I did end up buying two others to ensure all my rooms can be covered.
Here are my impressions:
Pros - Sound is acceptable. The bass on the Insignia is a bit better than the regular Google Home speaker, but the highs and mids aren't as good. The Insignia sounds way better than the Home-Mini. I absolutely love the clock and the top controls make a lot of sense. Telling it when to set an alarm is great and it shows an "AL" next to the clock that there is one enabled. The portability is nice to have, but the Wi-Fi range (will give that a con) isn't great. Syncing them to a speaker group is so easy and is a fantastic way to get whole-home-audio into the bedrooms or deck.
Cons - I have to regularly power-cycle these. Sometimes all at once, other times just one. Most of the time it is just losing connection with my network, but once or twice, I've had to delete from my Google Home setup and re-add. I have not had to do this at all with my OG Google Home speakers. FYI - there is a battery so you have to hold the power button in the back down a few seconds to reboot. It's not a big deal and is an acceptable level of interaction for me as a tech nerd, but for non-techy people it would be frustrating having to reboot once or twice a week. I can tell the antenna on these isn't very good. My phone has about 80% connection strength out on my deck, but when I put the speaker out there I had regular packet drops and stuttered music. I'll be getting a range extender to compensate, but it is definitely sensitive to range issues.
Overall, for $30, they are a steal. I've seen multiple price points over the holidays from the $30 I picked them up at, to I think $75 and that's still a decent price. However, $150 regular.... that is too much because of the lower audio quality, unreliable connectivity, and range issues.

BEST SPEAKER EVER!!

I have to admit it, I am a speaker snob. I want my speakers to be very loud, have great bass, and to be portable. They need to be hard wearing, have a long battery life, and DO THEIR JOB! With all of that in mind, this speaker is absolutely awesome! It’s 360 sound fills the room. The base is phenomenal, and I just love how incorporating it with the Google Home app means I can control it without ever touching it. This will be the third of these speakers that I have purchased, and I would love to have one for every room of the house!

Bought mine during initial sale, 49$. Incredible deal. Worked just like my Google home, only with nice display for time. Three speakers, left, right, sub. Excellent sound. Displays alarm time briefly when set, nice touch. Flashes time when alarm not turned off, nice again. Battery runs unit without plug for a good 4+ hours. Just an incredible deal. Even at full price, 99$, 30$ less than Home and has display. Don't need battery? Save 50$ and get model without. Insignia is Best buy store brand. Been around a long time. Buy this !

Better Sound, 5hr Battery

Adding this to my Google Assistant's in the home and this has a bigger sound than the normal assistant, plus a 5hr Battery portability. I've turned on music thru Wi-Fi and my subscription, walked all around the house and property, where ever your Wi-Fi reaches, your connected. Inside is a normal Google Assistant and I find it a very good addition because I can use it anywhere. It's not hi fidelity sound, but when I turn on music to hear around the house, it's fine, I enjoy it. The only con not con, is that when the volume is up, the microphone doesn't hear me as well, I have to get close and or tap the volume down.. I guess to be expected, it is loud. This also has Bluetooth so you can connect and play your own music or audio file. I haven't seen any assistants with audio out. That said using the same music service in my HDTV and/or Chromecast I get the music doing it a different way. The Voice control for external accessories works great. I have Smart Bulbs and this works them no differently than my other units. I've even made a phone call thru it, but then that's Google Assistant features. I've only recently got this and I'm glad in the shopping rush that I noticed this in a different location from the assistants by Google. Price is competitive to a Google model and again portable, bigger sound. It's a great addition to my set, good for one or additional like I have. I did recommend this to friends.

Having already owned the Google Home and Google home mini, I wanted a third speaker for my basement. I decided to give this one a try. Was not a huge fan of the look, but wow was I surprised at how great it sounded. This speaker gets quite loud, and has far more bass then the other two thanks to the downward facing woofer. As an added bonus, didn't realize it has a battery in it so I can take it on the patio when I'd like with ease. Very impressed overall.

This Insignia portable smart speaker has great sound. I purchased this model vs the smaller one. I never listened to the smaller one to compare the sound quality but I liked that this one has a sub woofer in the bottom of the speaker for better bass. I also really like that it has a 5 hour battery for portability. The Google Assistant is very fast and responsive. This also has Bluetooth which connects to my Devices fast and has worked great so far.

I purchased this speaker for my Aunt. It sounds awesome for a bluetooth speaker. It has a battery so you can take it with you. It's an alarm clock. And it has the google assistant. My aunt uses it to ask for questions. It is great in the kitchen for recipes. Two can be paired up for Stereo Sound. I purchase this on sale and for the price of $25 it is worth every penny.

Why don't you own one already

If you don't own one already you either have a better one or you just didn't know about it until now. This was one of my best purchases I have ever made. I was looking around the market for a digital alarm clock, that would tell me the weather, and got more than what I bargained for. This voice activated device is connected though wi-fi, so I can do many things I never would have though of from the comfort of my bed. Listening to the radio, checking the weather and traffic, setting the volume and alarm while laying down, searching the web, doing calculations, and many more. I got this well over $100 device for only $34.99 as a rewards member. if your in the market for a digital alarm clock, what are you waiting for? Buy it whenever it's on sale! It is worth the price I paid.

I own a Google Home, multiple Google Home minis, six of this speaker (NS-CSPGASP2) and two of the smaller version (NS-CSPGASP-B). When this speaker is on sale, it is a killer deal and definitely worth it. I was able to purchase it for $40 and the smaller version for $25. Here is my review:
This speaker (NS-CSPGASP2) is very comparable to the sound of the Google Home and has almost the same functionality. The Google Home has just slightly cleaner, more accurate sound but this speaker is louder and has more bass. They both have Google Assistant but I believe the only thing this speaker doesn't currently support is phone calls but I imagine that will come in a future software update. For the money I definitely recommend this speaker over the Google home because the sound quality differences are minor at normal volumes and this speaker gets louder and has more bass at higher volumes. Plus this speaker has a built-in battery so you could take it somewhere and get something like 5 hours of battery life if you want.
The smaller version of this speaker (NS-CSPGASP-B) is not the same and doesn't sound near as good as the larger speaker or the Google Home speaker. It doesn't have the battery for portability and is more comparable to the Google Home mini. It is also significantly smaller in size which is nice on a nightstand compared to the much larger version but is also why it doesn't have as much bass and punch as the larger speaker. If you have the space and it is on sale, go for the larger version.

Setup was a little tricky, as the unit hung up on the first try, but went smoothly after that. Sounds quality is far better than that of my Google Mini, and the portability feature makes it great for the occasional backyard use.
Being a non-Google product, it shares one of the same drawbacks as non-Google android phones - firmware and feature updates lag behind those on official Google products. If you're looking for the latest announced Google Home features, this unit may or may not get them eventually. Still, at the sale price it's a great way to get better sound quality than the Mini at a price much less than other alternatives.

There are two models of Insignia Voice speakers powered by Google Assistant: a smaller, non-portable speaker and a larger speaker with a five-hour battery life. Get the larger one for only $5 more. Better bass, better in general. The sound is OK but the audio lag is disappointing, so watching video is not a pleasure experience. In my opinion, offers better sound quality than the Google Home Mini and it has an attractive suite of features including device charging and a clock. With Google Assistant you can set alarms from your phone or set music alarms with voice commands. Controls are almost similar to a Google Home for much lower price and it's the only Google Assistant speaker you may ever need but it's not compatible with Google Voice calling. There's a carry handle hidden on the back of the speaker so you can carry it from room to room.

I was a little iffy on buying this as I've avoided buying "Insignia" brands just because I didn't know if they would hold up as well as the "name" brands. I was completely wrong as this has been one of the handiest devices in my home. I use it daily to listen to local (and out of state) radio and the google play app is great. I do with I could stream Amazon Music through it (my only complaint), but for the price, I've basically been able to afford both an Alexa and Google streaming device and this is the Google Play device I would recommend (I like having a clock and the built in battery makes it portable and able to use the alarm if the power goes out (I assume). Great device and worth picking up when on sale.

I brought the item while on sale at $39.99. It was easy to set up,and the sound from speaker very good nice balance when playing music. Volume booms when turned up to max still sound great. Only problem alarm would set then tell you there is a problem. try again later,as a few others had the same issue. Also temperature wouldn't show or be announced when asked. I had to take it even though I liked the speaker. Two weeks later on sale for $25 had to try it again so I bought it. Everything works and now phone call option is now enabled,it wasn't before. Love It battery lasted about 5-6 hours, this speaker is AWESOME!!! glad I gave it a second chance

A Bargain, Especially If You Get It On Sale

During the 2018 holiday season, Best Buy has frequently had this speaker on sale for less than $30. If you can get it at that price, it is a real bargain. With current firware upgardes this has virtually all the functionality of a Google Mini with the added benefit of a clock, a temperature readout and a surprisingly good quality sound. It also has a five hour battery and bluetooth capability. At the same or lower price than a Google Mini, which lacks the battery, bluetooth, and quality sound, how can you go wrong for the price? The Google Home app guides you through setup so getting started isn't too hard. This is well worth the money.

Have had Alexa for awhile. This has put Alexa in a closet......
Google assistant works awsome, never argues with me and responds quickly. Hears you from a good distance. Sometimes while instructing one, the one way at other end of house will respond!
The sound is very good. Have one on a table and you can feel the music on the floor! Chargeable battery is the frosting on the cake. Just grab it by the very convenient handle and carry it right outside with you!!!!
Took me a bit to figure out one stupid thing: power outages. I spent hours trying to get it back online and nothing...... Uhmmm hello me, but the power button on the back. Drrrr

This speaker makes a wonderful gift, I bought one for my aunt who recently had some health issues and was frequently listening to music through her phone speakers for comfort. She was blown away by this speaker and has since learned all the other great things she can do by simply asking the Google Assistant. It's a really good quality speaker and has great volume, and looks great anywhere you put it. I have Google Home speakers, and one advantage this has over those is that it has a battery and is portable while the Google Home speakers are not. I've since purchased several more of these because when it's on sale it's an unbeatable value.

Purchased for our guest room (along with a few more as Christmas gifts) and finding it to be a great addition! I have smart lights/outlets/chromecast and the Google Assistant works just as seamlessly as my other Google home products with these smart gadgets. This, however, has much better sound than the standard Google home... pretty impressed! It's a little bigger than I expected (don't let the box fool you... it's not that big), but fits perfectly on a shelf and easy to move from room to room, and the sound quality plus portability with battery power make the slightly bigger size well worth the purchase.

Great Google Home device, good Bluetooth speaker. I bought one as a blue tooth speaker but we mostly use it as a Google Home assistant. We now have 2 of this one with the battery and one of the little one without the battery. Sound quality is very good for my needs though is probably hollow to an audiophile's ear. Plenty loud, loud enough that Google Assistant can't hear you over the music. Two of mine are set in a speaker group so they play the same music / program on both speakers in two different rooms. I got all of mine on sale so spent about $100 for all three.

This is an excellent "Google Home" smart speaker. It has very good sound, it looks great, and the builtin rechargeable battery allows the speaker to moved throughout the house, or even outside, within range of your wireless router signal. Best of all, using Google Home's setup app from your phone you can setup multiple Insignia Smart Speakers in different rooms of your home and then add them to a "Speaker Group" so that anything being played through one speaker will be heard from multiple speakers throughout your home! Great value item, especially when acquired during a Best Buy sales event.
