This purifier is so quiet! It works great and the lights go off at night automatically for sleeping. It has a Hepa filter and has really helped my breathing.

I absolutely love this machine. Not just it works well, but it helps with my allergy. I used to have running noses and sneezing a lot too, but after getting it, they all stop.

With our unusual weather here in AZ and one of the wettest Monsoon seasons on record there’s all kinds of stuff in the air now that are affecting my allergies “mainly molds and pollen”. I needed/wanted a small air purifier that I could set in our home office were we spend a good bit of time. I saw that Instant had gotten into the air purifier market and decided to give the AP100 a try. Unpacking and setup: The device came well protected in a nice retail box and inside was the air purifier and manual, that it, simple. The first thing to do is remove all the packing material and also remove the plastic bag over the filter inside the unit. Laying the unit on its side and simply twisting the bottom and it pops right off, the filter can be simply lifted out, just replace in the same and you are good to go. This is the smallest of the units offered by Instant and it’s really not very big at all, it doesn’t take up much more room than our single serve coffee maker, it’s also very light which makes it very easy to move around. After plugging in I turned the power on and set it to “auto”, I also turned on the ION generator. The controls and layout of them on top of the unit are very well placed and easy to use. Besides using “auto” you can manually adjust the 3 fan speed settings. On high this little unit moves a lot of air, but it’s a little too loud for having that run in the office all the time. There’s also a light switch that allows you to adjust the ambient lighting around the exhaust at the top, and there’s only one color. Use: We’ve been using this purifier about a week in our office and I can tell a difference in the air in there, especially if we have the doors closed. I have an air quality meter that I set on top of the unit and the PM2.5 & PM10 read “0” the HCHO reading was 0.01 and VOCs at 0.44 all of which are incredibly low. It’s easy to tell that the purifier is doing its job very well. Conclusion: If you are looking for a small HEPA type air purifier for a single room, one that is small, pretty much silent on “auto” or low, with maintenance that is very simple and removes most everything in the air around it then I’d take a strong look at this new Instant AP100 air purifier. We were very impressed with its performance and I’m sure you will be too.

Pros: * Very quiet at low speeds * Automatic settings that work well * HEPA and Plasma ion Cons: * Buttons are hard to read in low light * Could be easier to replace filters * Replacement filters are nearly 30% of the original cost * No app, Bluetooth or WiFi TLDR: (that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read) Instant always makes a good product at a good value and this Air Purifier is no exception. On slower speeds, it is whisper quiet but even cranked up, it’s not very loud. It has some nice features and options that could use a bit of refinement, but are still appreciate. There is no app connectivity, but do you really need that for an air purifier? The replacement filters are nearly 1/3 of the original cost of the unit but overall, this is a substantial value for an air purifier with these features. Summary: These days, it’s almost a given that product must have a phone app and be Bluetooth or WiFi -connected (everything is better with BlueTooth, right?). There are numerous air purifiers with that, but there is still a place for appliances that merely serve a function and do it well. This Instant Air Purifier is firmly in that category. Set it to “Automatic” and leave it alone until you need to replace the filter (a blinking orange LED on the top will let you know when). Otherwise, it will do its thing of cleaning your air without need for Bluetooth pairing, WiFi access point linking or App installations. There is a nice ring of light on the top that signifies the cleanliness of your air. From above, this creates a nice glow around the control panel. You can easily change the brightness of that light or even turn it off completely. Leave the unit in Auto mode and that ring of light will turn off at night and back on during the day. It’s even smart enough to disable the Plasma ion feature at night because that makes the unit nearly silent when it’s off. From the side, the ring of light is clearly a few LEDs in a translucent diffuser because you can see the points of light. More expensive brands might have done a better job of hiding this from view, but again, this unit is a value proposition and a good one at that. The touch buttons on the top are easy enough to use and see whether the respective settings are on or off. My only suggestion is that the buttons be backlit so that you can find and read them more easily in a dark room. When it comes time to replace the filter, it’s easy enough but could be nicer. You basically have to flip the unit upside down, rotate and remove the bottom cover, and then remove and replace the filter. I’ve seen other (more expensive) units that you replace the filter by rotating the top portion of the housing and lifting it up and off the bottom to gain access to the filter rather than having to flip the whole unit upside down, etc… This isn’t necessary bad, but could be a tad nicer. Regarding the filter; beware that with all similar air purifiers, the replacement filters are … not inexpensive. This filter retails for about 30% of the initial cost of the unit and, depending on how much work it needs to do to clean your air, you might need to buy two of them each year. The power cord is long enough and is a simple power cord with no excessive AC adapter, so that’s good. The user’s manual is thorough, too. Overall, this is a really nice unit with some novel features. It’s not a “luxury” product, but it also isn’t priced like one. What few flaws I noted are really just areas for improvement and not reasons to skip consideration of this air purifier. If asked, I would definitely buy it again.

Small But Mighty, Quietly At Work

The Instant - Air Purifier, Small Room in black may only service a small room, maybe 144 sq. feet or a 12 x 12 room, but it is mighty. I was asked to request this air purifier in either white or black and I chose black. This machine is very well packed and it comes very well packed with its filters, all was in good shape to get started. So, in my case I initially have put it on the floor in my kitchen/sunroom area. While it is not that large, it would take up too much real estate, Imo, on a kitchen countertop so I decided to place it on the floor. I followed the instructions on how to put it together, making sure that I got the filters installed in the right places. Upon setup, I placed it on the automatic mode and for the longest time heard nothing, no sound, nada-did this mean that it was not working or sensing if air purification was needed or a more aggressive cleansing? Well, how wrong was I. One day my husband was frying food on the gas cooktop on our kitchen's island and he overheats his fry pan so that when he places the food in the pan to cook all kinds of smoke and odors are emitted. To my complete surprise, all of a sudden, this small but mighty air purifier senses all these particles in the air and kicks into action revving up the motor to defeat these particles and odors. Now, remember that this machine is on the floor and actually behind an island that is a physical block between the island where the cooktop is. While on the auto setting, it revved up to what sounded like a high setting and set about neutralizing and eating up the particles that the cooking put into the air. Remember that the model that I have is for a small room and only supposed to support about a 12-foot distance, which this machine was about from the island with the cooktop. I was impressed that even though the offensive odor was at its maximum distance and physically blocked by the cabinets in the peninsula, it still sensed and engaged to do its job. That is about all that I can say because otherwise it is silent and you wonder if it is working at all, at least when it is on automatic.

    Decent so far

Seems good so far. THE GOOD ~ It has multiple settings for purification speed ~ It seems to clear out dust ~ Long cord ~ Soft light you can turn on/off THE BAD I haven't found any deal-breakers for me, though I found some things that can go either way. THE MEH (could go either way) ~ Size. It's kind of large ~ Highest setting is very loud OVERALL So far, I like this. I think it's helping me sleep a little better, which is great because I suffer from insomnia. There are three speed settings. #1 you can't hear at all. It makes me wonder if it's actually on, but I can feel a slight air motion. #2 creates a great white noise. This is why I think it's helping me sleep a little better. It's kind of like a noise machine. #3 is very loud. I wouldn't be able to sleep with it on, but some might. It's about as loud as a hotel air conditioner of full blast. :) I really like the shape. It looks like a pony keg. There is a soft white light around the top that comes on with the power. These make a great night light for anyone who needs or wants one. Better yet, though, is the fact you can turn them off if you're the kind of person who needs total darkness. My house was built in the 30s and still has plaster. Besides that, I have dogs and cats that demand to go in and out constantly, so it gets pretty dusty. I put this in the bedroom and it seems to have cut down on the dust in there. The big question is always: would I recommend it? For some people, yes I would. For others, perhaps not. As I said, it is kind of large for a "small." Someone with a not-so-dusty studio apartment with limited space might forego this. But if you have the space, or if you have allergies or stuffy sinuses due to dust, pollen, etc. It would be a good fit. Just check the size against how much space you're trying to purify.
