Great pressure cooker

Amazing pressure cooker! Worth every penny you'll spend and then some. I don't know where to start, it has exceeded my expectations! Honestly, I got this as a gift for my wife on our anniversary, she was always skeptical about such products - she is used to the classical approach in cooking but since it is a gift, she was kind of 'forced' to at least try it out. The most important thing is the easy usage, the instructions are straightforward as well as the controls. It has great program presets. It's also quick and doesn't create any noise. This is just amazing, my wife won't stop using it, we love it! The ability to cook easy and quick meals for me and my wife are a must, and the simplicity in which to clean up it always helpful when you have a toddler. This is our first instant pot. We are an Indian family and a pressure cooker is a "must have" kitchen item. So we have been using our traditional pressure cooker but I was beginning to think I was the only person who hadn't purchased or used an instant pot yet. So we got this one because it had so many good reviews. There are a lot of options and the screen is easy to read. I've not had it that long but have used it several times already. This new machine is quick, easy to use. I now use it several times a week for cooking Indian and/or vegetarian meals of all types. The cooker is easy to use and lots of recipes online; most of the time the recipes are universal for any brand. It is easy to program and seems quite safe.
This instant pot is well designed and built. It is an amazing addition to have in your kitchen! This ONE appliance is replacing four; a slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, and an “old school” pressure cooker! We have used this almost every day since the day it came. I look forward to making my next meal, and I have actually created a meal plan, which in turn will save me money on groceries. It is exceedingly easy to use, and is well built and made of sturdy materials. I have used it to make bean stew, which takes no more than 5 minutes preparation time. Just throw in your favorite dry beans, sliced onion, a tomato, some bay leaves, a whole sausage, some garlic a tomato and some seasoning and press a single button. An hour later you have the most delicious sausage and bean stew. It cannot possibly be easier. Furthermore, the pot is silent when under pressure, unlike traditional pressure cookers which you have to keep an eye on and pray they won't blow up when you forget them on the stovetop. Just press a button and go to sleep. No worries, no noise, no smell and your lunch for tomorrow is guaranteed to be delicious. If you know even a bit about Indian cooking, you know almost every dish involves sauté'ing and this instant pot has a pre-set sauté function. Believe me, this is a life saver. I am big time goat meat lover and problem with goat meat is that it takes longer to cook as compared to chicken. Cooking it in a pressure cooker greatly reduces cooking time. So this is going to be my next meal to cook in this instant pot. I want to cook it in two different ways: one with pressure cooker setting and next time with slow cooker setting as I want to check which setting cooks more delicious goat meat.
Let's look at some pros of this instant pot below:
* LCD display - one of the best things. The LCD display is miles ahead of any of the control panels on any other model offered by Instant Pot.
* Delayed Start: This is a great option, specially when you don't want to cook right at the moment.
* Ease of use: 12 pre-set function buttons.
* Easy to clean: (especially the lid) and I haven’t burned anything yet. Yes, it is big but
* Sauté Option: No more messy frying pans, kitchen stays cleaner using this function instead of a frying pan. One less thing to wash.
* Quiet - there is no comparison to the stovetop pressure cookers when it comes to sound. You can’t even hear this one aside for the beeps when it hits pressure and goes to keep-warm.
We are very much impressed with this, especially the preset smart features as there's no guessing or overcooking with these settings. We are so happy with this and would encourage anyone interested in a great and easy to use pressure cooker to try it out.

I bought this as a surprise for my wife, and she loved it. She literally couldn’t stop smiling, and now she uses it instead of her rice cooker since it does everything. It took her a while to use to all of the functions, but now that she understands how it works she uses it for almost everything.

I think at this point everybody should have an instantpot, such a great pot when to comes to cook your favorite dish!
Pro
- instapot is black plastic with stainless steal, it’s also not lightweight but it’s very sturdy
- mine came with red rubber seal that helps pressurized the pot for anything you cook ( i’ve noticed that depending on the dish you make, the smells stays in the seal, as a tip id suggest to ordering an extra seal to minimize transferring the scent to the next dish)
- you can get more creative by buy different accessories for instantpot to cook your product
- cleaning instant pot is fairly simple, the only two part you needed to wash is the pot and the rubber seal, which can also be put in dishwasher, the outher part cleans easily with damp cloth
- cooking food in instant pot is definitely a lot quicker than cooking in the stove, shortens cooking time while maintaining the quality of the dish
cons
- first experience cooking rice on instant pot , the rice stuck to the bottom of the pot, this was resolved by adding a drizzle of olive oil before you start cooking
- depressurizing the instant pot kinda gets messy if you’re not careful, by turning a little at a time, it helps to not create a mess
- instant pot 8 quart is a great size for family sized meal , but if you’re limited on counter space , it could be an issue because you want to place it on open space that’s not directly under the cabinets
- make sure you have sufficient counter space to store it, since it’s an 8 quart it can be bulk and in the way
overall great product, I do love the countless number of recipes you can make with it, and the fact you don’t have to keep an eye on it as you for something you’re cooking on the stove, basically put all the ingredients and press start and enjoy your meal!

I read all reviews before purchasing and was like finally a Good one so wrong. This pit is definitely not for new user and the handle gets o hot you can’t even touch it without a potholder to remove. It’s so heavy to move and the steam could 3rd degree burn you if not carful. And not sure why but water pools under the pot while it’s cooking. This is a horrible instant pot and I’m sorry I bought it. It will be going back. So disappointed. And no one at Best Buy is even helpful to ask questions.

Right off the bat, this unit is HUGE. The 8-quart unit serves 'large families' according to the Instant Pot's website, so that explains its enormous size. My kitchen is small, so I have to figure out where to store it when not in use.
As for its features, there are many cooking options with various buttons and settings, but I'll eventually figure them out as well.
Before getting started, be sure to read the enclosed manual and watch the videos on Instant Pot's website (they have a wide range of recipes as well).
When the unit finishes cooking and releases the steam, it shoots out diagonally, so make sure there is nothing in the way. Also, definitely cover your hands with an oven mitt or some type of a protective gear to avoid getting burnt with hot steams when releasing the pressure valve.
I steamed broccoli as my very first Instant Pot meal (or side dish), after the initial test run with water. I know it sounds boring, but it turned out to be an important test. I searched online and found a good recommendation to set the timer to zero (0) min., so it won't overcook. The portion I was steaming was smaller than what the recipe suggested, so I reduced the amount of water - a big mistake. It turns out the liquid you add doesn't necessary collate proportionately to the amount of food you are cooking.
If you don't put enough liquid, you end up burning your food. I got this alarming message on the display stating 'FOOD BURN' and the bottom of the inner pot got slightly scorched.
Good news, though - broccoli were still steamed perfectly and delicious without adding any seasoning. Also, the inner pot cleaned out really well and I was able to wash off the burn effortlessly, so it's good as new again!
Overall, I am happy with my new Instant Pot Duo Nova (one less star for its bulkiness) and can't wait to try cooking more heathy meals.

My wife has been wanting to get an InstantPot since we started staying at home due to COVID. She liked the idea of getting something that could make a lot of food quickly with recipes she found on Pinterest. We had another pressure cooker that we've had for a while, but the recipes for that cooker vs an InstantPot one required conversions of ingredient size - and she wanted something that she could use quickly and simply.
She's used it so far to make a large pot of rice, which she normally has trouble cooking on a cooktop, as well as some excellent macaroni and cheese! Having something that she can use to whip up tasty food quickly is a win-win for me!
The main thing she noted about it versus our older, non-InstantPot branded cooker, was how easy it was use. At first, she was a little surprised that there wasn't a real "instruction" manual or anything with it, but it was easy enough to turn on and start using day one.
InstantPot also has a mobile app where you can view other recipes to get new ideas - which is a blessing, so you don't find yourself eating the same food over and over again. The larger size pot also makes plenty of food for our family of 4, we usually have leftovers. It could probably be used to take care of meal prep for a larger group of people too, and once all this COVID craziness is behind us, we look forward to entertaining guests and family with food cooked in this thing.
For me, my biggest joy is how easy this thing is to clean. Take the tub out, clean it off, throw it in the dishwasher for a quick sanitize and boom - you're done and it's ready to be used for more tasty cooking.
This is a larger size pot though, so you'll need to make sure you have a good size cabinet or storage option available to you to keep this thing up when not in use. It's not the smaller one where you can leave it on your counter and it goes unnoticed.
For my money, it was a no brainer and I'm glad we got it!

We had heard a lot of positive comments about the Instant Pot and finally got around to trying one for ourselves.
My wife and I cook every day and on weekends, we will prepare a couple of meals that we can reheat at work and enjoy hot meals through the week. We previously used a slow cooker for most of this, so were intrigued to try some of our usual recipes in the new Instant Pot.
The pot comes with a few accessories and some basic instructions. It was easy to identify what all the parts were and the only thing that puzzled me was that it said it came with two lid seals but I only unpacked one. The other was already installed in the lid so that was quickly accounted for.
The instructions described that you should do a test run with only water so I did this. It seemed to run fine and then at the end, released a lot of steam condensation. I have not seen that much steam since so it must just have been because we basically pressure cooked water.
A couple of days later, I fired it up to cook a meal we do each weekend – Beer Braised Chicken. We would normally do it in a large skillet and a slow cooker and it would take about four and a half hours, including prep time.
I liked that I could fry the bacon in the Instant Pot with the Sauté function and save some dishwasher space. It cooked it well and was the same as when I fry it in a pan. I did the same for the chicken and that also came out looking good. Finally, I was able to add the rest of the ingredients and then pressure cook the meal for about 6 minutes. After that, I just needed to cook down the liquid a bit so I removed the lid and let it boil for another 10 minutes. At that point, it was done!
I was amazed at how quickly it was all cooked and cleared up, compared to slow cooking. When we ate it later, it tasted just as good but had been completed three hours quicker.
The size of this unit would suit others who like to meal prep or have a big family. We even sautéed and then pressure cooked a 4-pound whole chicken the next day and it fit just fine. I found it a bit clumsy to rotate in the pot, to sauté the other side but it was not too bad considering.
The chicken meal was not as good as we had hoped but that is on the recipe we used and not the slow cooker which did a very good job and left the chicken moist and not dry in any way. We just decided we would rather have roasted the chicken on this occasion, so not a slight on the Instant Pot.
For things like stews, casseroles, risottos and soups, the Instant Pot is going to be great. You do have to remember to factor in the time it takes for the pot to come up to pressure. Only then does your countdown timer begin and it can add 10-15 more minutes on to the expected cook time. We say that if something takes less than 20 minutes, we’ll just skip the Instant Pot and do it the old way.
You can cook rice in these as well but we have a dedicated, Japanese rice maker so probably will only use this function in a pinch. The unit has 14 preset buttons for all kinds of things you might want to make in it, such as yogurt, porridge, multigrain, steam (vegetables) etc. We will likely stick to stews, chili and maybe the odd soup but for an all-in-one pot, it really offers a lot of flexibility.
The blue display is very clear and you can always tell what is happening as it describes the cooking processes. The sauté function showed a burner icon and it would also show when the pressure function was running. The timer counts down after it comes to pressure or during other functions if you set a time and stops the unit heating when the timer runs out. You can easily add or remove time with dedicated buttons if you need to. There is a Keep Warm function as well which will keep food hot if you set it to run while you are out and want to come home to a hot meal.
The only thing that surprised me was when the display said “Food Burn” during my last two pressure cooks. The first time, I panicked a bit and ended up stopping it, emptying the pot, cleaning off the food that had stuck to the bottom of the pot after the sauté and then putting the food back in. It still said it again right as it came to pressure but I just let it go and it was fine. It did it again the next day with the “rotisserie” chicken I was cooking in it but I ignored it and it was not an issue. The pot must just be very sensitive and will let you know if it detects stuck food that might burn but I had enough liquid in there both times, it was not worth worrying about.
It is a great unit and I’m looking forward to trying some more great and convenient recipes in it.

Finally a real kitchen multi-tasker. I've had a really nice 8qt pressure cooker, that I probably use annually, largely because it does not have a delayed start feature (and my wife is afraid of it). I do use my crockpot's more often but they don't have the necessary keep warm feature that the Instant Pot has. I've spent more time cleaning one of my crockpots, used to make mac-and-cheese and burning (more like fusing) cheese to the bottom. But the Instant Pot has both a delay start function and keep warm after cooking function - brilliant - (not to mention 12 different cooking modes).
Before using the pot I washed the lid and stainless pot, I inspected the silicon seal in the lid to insure it was properly seated. BTW, the pot comes with a spare silicon seal (red), you might want use different seals with different recipes after sometime.
So I'm accustomed to pressure cooking, but the instant Pot adds a simplicity to building up the pressure, monitoring the pressure, and most importantly releasing the pressure. So for my first dish I made a 6lbs savory rosemary chicken, with potatoes and cinnamon carrots. Prep was easy used 1 can of Chicken Stock as the liquid, fresh rosemary and sweet onions inside the bird, with a salt, pepper, garlic and poultry seasoning rub on the bird. I set the pressure cooker timer to 40m, and sealed the lid. It took about 5m for the pot to fully pressurize, at that point the silver pressure seal pops up on the pot. The pressure turning knob should be in up position, you push it down to release the pressure (3rd images is trying to show steam release). When the cooking is complete (in this case about 45m from start) the pot shifts to "keep warm" mode (2nd image). After releasing the pressure (steam), which takes about 20s, I removed the lid and found my fully cooked chicken. It smelled wonderful, and tasted wonderful. I next cooked about 2lbs of spare ribs, which I braised before putting them in the pot with potatoes and vegetables. I cooked them for about 30m, which was probably 5m to long, considering I braised them. They were very rich as expected.
There is an Instant Pot app that has a huge number of recipes, but the app does not interface with the pot (that I have), I believe there is another version of the Instant Pot that does have a direct interface app (I saw the app in the app store). Cleaning the pot is fairly easy, but I do wish they offered a true non-stick surface.
But I now understand why the Instant Pot has become so popular, it offers the right combination for features so you can prepare a meal well in advance and keep it warm before serving, and with the steam, dishes don't dry out. If only it had a self cleaning pot....

Well I’m gonna admit it. Pressure cookers are scary for me. There is no real reason other than my Aunts story of the big spot on her ceiling when I was kid 65 years ago. Suffice it to say it had to do with a pressure cooker and an explosion. That is NOT this Instant Pot of today. I have the 8 quart version. It is pretty large and weighs 15+ pounds. It looks very space ship like. After unpacking it, I cleaned the pieces as described in the included manual. Be aware that there are two very small pieces. One of which is a tiny little silicon cap. That little guy is likely to get lost in this house. Just hope I haven’t forgotten it in my dish drainer caddy when I get ready to put the cooker away. First step after washing is to run a water cycle to remove any manufacturing “dirt.” Again the manual tells you what to do. I added water plugged it in and pushed a couple of buttons. (I wanted to run as thoughts of my aunts ceiling popped in my mind.) seriously there was nothing to it. Very simple. Included with the manual is a nice chart with suggested cook times for all the things you might want to cook. What I did was download the Instant Pot app. It has a nice little recipe book. I chose to start with the easy Pot Roast since I already had a roast on hand. There is a sauté function done right in the Instant Pot, no need to dirty a fry pan. I followed the directions in the app and in about an hour we had a great meal. Folks there is nothing to worry about. Everything is laid out with directions for whatever you plan to cook. If you like steamed food and have space go for it.

I’ve never used an Instant Pot before and I was quite curious so I decided to check out the Instant Pot Duo Nova, and so far I have not been disappointed. Inside the box comes the Instant Pot, the 8 quart container, a trivet, 2 pressure cooker sealing rings(one already installed in the pot cover), a little condensation container to catch the excess moisture run-off( see pictures) and the usual paperwork which includes a quick- start guide and a poster with various foods and their cooking times.
First off, this pot is built tough and I have no doubt it will last a long time. Each of the parts seem to be very sturdy and I doubt I will ever question its durability. It is also very easy to operate with all buttons located towards the front of the pot, surrounding the display screen which shows which settings are currently active and the countdown/cooking times. The pot has 12 different cooking modes, some of which include, yogurt and saute. To access any of the cooking modes, simply press their respective buttons, set the desired time and watch it go.
The first thing I tried (which was one of the things that got me interested in the first place) was making a cheesecake. This experience turned out very well (check pictures) and I must say it could not have been simpler. I just googled/youtubed a recipe specific to the pot and stuck to it. I must point out a few things when using the pot. Once you have added the water to your pot and whatever thing you do decide to cook, there is a time period it takes to pressurize. So far, based on the things I have tried, the time to pressurize has ranged from 5 to 10 mins for me, and I find that very quick. Once pressurized you will notice that the steam nob on the pot cover will be fully popped up and it is only then will your food start to cook and your timer starts to run down. When your food is finished you can leave as is and the pressure will slowly release by itself or you can turn the steam release switch which will instantly release the steam. If you are new to this be very careful, so that you avoid possibly burning yourself, I doubt you will though.
I also like that point has a slow cooker function, a keep warm function and a Delay start function. I find these really useful as it allows you many ways to time and prepare your food. There is also a chime that is done when you open and close the pot. In fact there is a specific chime that is heard depending on if you are sealing the pot or unsealing the pot. I find this as a nice touch and I really appreciate it.
To wrap up the Duo Nova is a no nonsense easy to use versatile multi-cooker. It cooks a variety of things and it does so quickly. I’m excited to try cooking many other things and I have already recommended it to some of my friends and family.

Blew my freaking mind! I know that pressure cookers are old technology, but I have never had one before. What usually takes all day in a crock-pot takes a couple of hours in this thing! Easy to use control panel with cook time suggestion pamphlet. Came pre-assembled and had a condensation catcher container on the back. Pretty handy! The pressure indicator is noticeable and the alarm is loud enough for me to hear upstairs. A huge plus, the food stays hot/warm even after 2 hours unplugged!!

The Instant Pot Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1 has been a great multifunctional device that has saved my marriage. My wife uses a pressure cooker (another brand) all the time and this past week it died on us after a long life of service. She was never able to get all the functions to work properly on it, but she made do. I was relieved when the Instant Pot Duo Nova came into our lives at the perfect time. She is finally able to make use of all the functions that she likes and is very satisfied with the bright led lit screen. This thing has just about everything that you could want. Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Poultry, Slow Cook, Sauté, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Yogurt, and Pressure Cook. I honestly do not know what half of these settings are, but I am looking forward to trying some of them out. The modes that we have used, mainly Meat/Stew, Steam, and Rice have worked as you would expect them to. There was not a huge learning curve from out last pressure cooker and the food came out just as good as the last one, if not slightly better. The overall design is functional such as the cut outs on the top that hold the lid and the rice spoon holder on the side of unit. It is recommended that you wash out the rubber seal in the lid and Instant Pot has a red rubber seal that is extra so you can swap them out and clean it. The pressure relief valve has a separate button that you can push which to me is better than our old one which you had to twist the valve and if you were not fast enough, you could burn yourself, this separate design is nice as it all about eliminates that accident that is waiting to happen. We love using this Instant Pot Duo Nova for the solid build, smart design, and ease of use. I am sure we will get many years of use out of this and I look forward to the many dishes that my wife will cook with it.

I joined the band of merry IP cooks. It’s doesn’t have the high psi of a traditional pressure cooker so cooking times are longer in the IP, but the trade off is there is no noise and smell while it’s cooking. I’ve made roasts, soups, sticky rice and flan in the IP and I’m just floored how easy it is! I was torn on getting an IP since I already have a pressure cooker but what peaked my interest was making sticky rice without soaking the rice and to make flan without babysitting it, for fear of bubbles. Anyone who’s made sticky rice knows you can’t make it the traditional method without soaking overnight. With the IP, you don’t need to preplan. Just make it whenever you want! With regards to flan, if this isn’t the sole reason to buy an IP, I don’t know what else to say. You can make a silky flan with zero bubbles! It’s a game changer! Get the IP. Don’t hesitate!

I bought this 8 qt Instant Pot at Black Friday sale for a good price. I had a 6 qt Instant Pot Viva already that I had gotten from another store on their early Black Friday sale and was happy with it and wanted to get a bigger one to make larger meals. I'm very pleased with the performance of this. I have found so many recipes online to try with the Instant Pots. I haven't used any of the preset buttons, so I don't know how accurately they cook with the preset times. I just use the pressure cook and saute buttons and adjust the cook times. I love how it saves me time as I can sear meat and then proceed to finish the meal in the same pot. I'm hooked using them! I wish I would have bought one sooner!

It is an excellent pressure cooker. It works great. The quick starter guide which came with it was okay. But I needed a but more info in order to figure out how to cook meat in it.. However, it was easy to find its manual online.
The pre- setting bottins worked great.
I initially used a steam diverter (which I had bought from Amazon) when releasing the steam. But, after a few times I realized I don't need the diverter. Because all I h ad to do is to let the cooker sit on warm for 10 min. to let the steam dissipate naturally.

So we got this in an emergency. Thanksgiving morning I got up at 2am to start slow cooking our pork butt (we’re weird) in the crock pot so it’s be ready for dinner. Well as I was washing the ceramic pot it slipped from my hand and shattered on our tile floor! So I called everyone I knew in a panic later that morning looking for a rock pot to borrow. No one had one! But my friend had an instant pot we could borrow. Never used one but always wanted to try it. Got it home and got the pork butt in and it was done in an hour and a half, tasting just as good as if it’s cooked all day! Black Friday we went and bought our own. Super easy to use with a great little cook time booklet and the internet is full of receptors! We try new things all the time like ribs, pork chops, chili, etc. There is a bit of a learning curve just because it’s so much different than a slow cooker, but once you get used to it it’s great. It even has a slow cook function if you want to let it set all day. You can use the pre made buttons for common meals or use the pressure cook function if you’re following a premise recipe like on the internet. If you’re sitting on the fence or you’re like me and your slow cooker died, just buy this thing you won’t be sorry.

Was able to get this Instant Pot during Best Buy's Black Friday deal and I must say it is a top notch multi-use cooker! This being our "first Instant Pot" it was put to use right away and during Christmas! The possibilities are endless what you can cook with this!! It's a little intimidating at first when you first unbox it BUT take your time to read the material included, go online for quick tutorials and you cannot and I mean cannot go wrong with what you can cook up with this cooker!! The buttons are easy to read, this display is bright and readable, and overall the cooker isn't riddled with alot of knobs or other buttons that will tend to confuse a person of what to press or how to start when cooking!! Highly recommended!!
