I have been a die hard AMD fanboy for many many years, and I think Intel has finally swung my vote. In the past my greatest concern has been heat management and affordability for speed. This chip rocks! Im running skyrim on moderate settings with plenty of interface and graphics mods just off of the CPU integrated graphics! full blast this thing is whisper quiet and runs at a cool 35 deg C with the fan that came with the chip.

I use this CPU in my current build. I upgraded from an AMD FX-6100. For encoding and burning DVDs, it's more than twice as fast as the hexacore AMD (went from @50 minutes to @20 minutes.) Gaming framerates are also significantly improved. If you need hyperthreading though, you might prefer the i7-3770K. For gaming, this CPU is more than sufficient and $100 cheaper!

This process blew me away. I overclocked it to 4.4 Ghz on stock voltage using a Corsair H60 water cooler. Ran the Prime95 stress test for a few hours with no errors.
Normal idle temps are 31 C and average temps while gaming (Planetside 2 and Guildwars 2) are usually in the mid 50's.
It's paired with a Asrock Extreme 4 motherboard and 8 gigs of Samsung 30nm DDR 3 ram (also overclocked @ 1866 mhz and 9-9-9-24 timing).

Great processor, plenty of power for some of the most demanding applications without breaking the bank.

This is one powerful quad core processor. The high clock is very good already, and the turbo boost makes it even faster.
I mainly use my pc for gaming and programming, and in both tasks this processor proved to be simply fast.

Building a computer for my fiancee and I knew this would give great processing power for what she needs to do (photo managing, light editing, cloud storage) at a great price point.

This CPU was a major component in my first full PC build. I've done some modifications before, but never installed a motherboard or CPU. The installation was simple and the card works perfectly.

I bought two of these for my kids to build their first gaming pc's. Checked reviews/benchmarks all over the place and for the money there is no better cpu for the task of gaming. Anything that will outperform it will cost you 1.5-3X as much money.
It does not have hyper-threading; however, for gaming this is NOT a problem. Hyper-Threading has very little impact on gaming. (In my personal opinioin, a processor with four or more cores has next to no need for hyper-threading each core. It wouldn't bother me if you could "one-click" enable/disable hyper-threading, but you can't. You have to disable it in the system BIOS (mostly because after boot, operating systems like Windows will get very angry if processors simply disappear.....
Great for overclockers (though I don't let my kids do any overclocking.) This is simply based on all the reviews I have found.

Great CPU for gaming and over clocking. Easy to install if careful. Throw an aftermarket cooling fan on there if you plan on doing heavy gaming or over clocking. Compatible with z77 mother boards.

This processor is amazing for gaming, especially when overclocking. I now run a stable overclock on this CPU from 3.5Ghz to 4.6Ghz by using a Corsair H80 water cooling system. Even with this insane overclock CPU temps stay under 60c under load, and I have not had a single issue with stability. I could probably push another 0.1 Ghz out of this safely, but for gaming at this point there is absolutely no need.
The only two bad things I can think of for this is that the stock cooler is horrible for any overclock (I've never found a stock cooler that's done this well), and that the thermal paste that Intel uses (internally between the silicon and the metal casing) is inconsistent and of poor quality. This second issue an easy fix, but it will void your warranty and there is a risk of damaging your processor in the process. On the plus side, after replacing the thermal paste my CPU was running between 3c to 7c cooler per core, and the temperatures were much more consistent between cores.
Also of note is there is no hyper-threading, which would be nice, but this is also $100 cheaper then the i7 3770k so there is a trade off there.

The intel i5 3570k processor is fast and can be overclock above 4.0Ghz without a problem with water cooling or Air cooling. The price is good for a i5 processor that can be as fast as the i7 3770k. The only thing is the heat, which is common with these processor. overall its the best bang for your buck and it is extremely fast.

This CPU is the best bang for your money. It's highly performant and beats any AMD CPU out there. And it's priced not much more than comparable AMD CPUs. However, since AMD is not competitive anymore, Intel can get away charging the same price now as when this CPU was launched a year ago.

Installed this processor on several business workstations. Has never failed to deliver on performance requirements. Most if not all of the workstations do not use graphic heavy applications, but run photoshop with ease using the on board video.

This is definitely the best processor for gaming you can buy. It's the best compromise, money and performance. Combined withmy ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 the result is an excellent gaming rig.
