This CPU does not have imbedded graphics, so you would need a graphic card in your system. If you are doing CAD, Image processing or Games then this is not a Robles for you. It’s less $$$ and just as fast as the i5-9400 and if you get (or have) a motherboard that supports the higher speeds, you will get the 4.1 Turbo boost. Although it comes with a Heat Sink and Fan (already has the Thermal Paste too) and work fine for the Turbo, if you want to overclock it, you should upgrade the heatsink/fan (I am not overclocking mine). Installation is straight forward and using a Gigabyte Aorus Pro (z390 chipset) it is more than enough speed. It was on sale when I purchased it (when Best Buy has a sale, you can’t beat the price).

I5-9400 Is a great price to performance Sweet Spot. Excellent FPS for gaming, six cores is also good enough for video editing and general multitasking use. The particular processor that I bought from Best Buy benchmarks at around 97% versus others. I highly recommend the ninth generation processors over earlier versions, because of the soldered thermal interface, no delidding necessary to obtain good cooling.

At a price point under $150, this chip is a good purchase. I would ignore the 2.9 GHz if you are using any decent cooling other than the included one. On decent cooling it will spend most of its time in 3.9 GHz range with all cores boosted. Only time I see low GHz is when chip is idle or very light load in background. Any active time it's 3.8 GHz-4.1 Ghz although 4.0 GHz and 4.1 GHz are rare as most workloads will use more than a couple cores. I would recommend this chip if you are Intel camp, need a cpu, can get it on sale, and don't want to wait on newer hardware. If you find it $129 and under it's a great deal. Anything over $150, go AMD r5 3600 unless you already have an Intel 300 series board.

It's an i5-9400f. No on-board graphics, which isn't a big deal if you plan to have a graphics card separately. It's a lower-powered 6-core i5, so you won't need a fancy cooler, but having one for a 9th gen Intel CPU isn't a bad idea. If you can't deal with an i3, but don't want to spend for the 9600K or higher, this isn't a bad choice. Do note the newer 10th Gen Intel CPUs are out now though, and may be the better option. Also, do look at AMD CPUs as well, as they have made tremendous strides and may be a better fit for what you want to do.

I bought this to install on my GF's PC and it was a great value at $119. Make sure you are running dedicated graphics, since there isn't any graphiocs on this CPU.

This is a great Processor for the 300 generation motherboards. Just make sure you have any graphics card because this cpu does not support graphics. Works great for us , and really good price.

It's a great processor for the price! No need for one with an integrated graphics processor when you have a dedicated graphics card.

Cheap, but performs really well. Its a great budget cpu for gaming.

The best thing is the price, you have a nine generation i5 processor for a cheaper price. I have this processor with a rtx2060 and 16gb ram so I can play games in 4k high graphics settings with no problems.

Time passed by and pc was a decade old. This works really well for what our family is using it for. AMD just came out with some great processors, but they seemed more geared for gaming. This is mostly used as a Plex Server & some other office type usage. The price was great!

This processor does more than what I wanted for the price I paid. If you are looking at a mid-level processor for gaming I would go with this!

Grabbed 2 of these for budget gaming builds for my 2 sons. They get the job done for Fortnite, roblox, Minecraft, apex, valorant and cod. They can run a 2070s no problem.

I matched this CPU against a fourth generation i7, and in my informal testing this i5 showed to be the superior CPU. Not having the onboard GPU is not an issue in that I've run dedicated video cards for ages.

The processor was easy to install, and operates very quickly. Would recommend for basic home uses and for gaming that doesn't require too much. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

Definitely would shop at best buy again. Bought this at a lower price which was only available at bestbuy. They even do price match to amazon and newsegg.
