Good processor that runs cool with my Corsair H80i v2 cooler. Wasn't interested in overclocking so I picked up the base 10700 rather than the 10700K. If you are looking to overclock, buy the 10700K, as that CPU is unlocked whilst this one is locked. Plays games without a sweat and rarely goes above 50% CPU usage while playing demanding games at 1440p ultra. Pair this with a good GPU and enough RAM and you've got a monster gaming rig!

Very solid processor. Quick, responsive and easy to install. With proper cooling and proper bios selection, this processor can maintain its 4.6GHz all core boost consistently(will have a much higher power usage)

I mainly got this CPU for gaming and paired it with my MSI Z590 Pro WiFi board and it’s amazing. Note that this i7 max power draw is around 200 watts and not 65 as stated on intels ark website, so you do need a board with decent to good power delivery which is why I didn’t op for a B or H boards so I could remove limits to turbo boost maxing out performance for this CPU. Previously I had an i7-3770, while it is an old CPU it was still good, but I recently just got into COD MW and at this point it started to show its age so I decided to upgrade my platform. At first I was going for an R5 3600, but today a demand for them is pretty high hence the price which is why I couldn’t get one, they use to be around 200 dollars but now cost around 300. The downside of LGA 1200 platforms is their motherboard and usually a really good one would cost more than the cpu Itself compared to AM4 platforms. The i7-10700 runs hot as well if power limits were removed so using the cooling solution that comes with the CPU won’t be ideal, unless you don’t need it’s max performance. In my case the i7 on my z590 board I’ve seen on max was around 130 watts and while having a 240 aio from CM it hovers around 60-70c, still good temps but kind of warm. Overall it’s a great CPU. Pros -Solid to great performance -Good price (was on sale when I got it) Cons -LGA 1200 boards can be pricey -Wont run at its full potential depending on the board -runs hot and power hungry

Does anyone else feel like their in the Twilight Zone referring to Intel as the value option? Anyways, if you can get this on sale ($250-275) it is a considerably better deal than Ryzen for a few reasons (and with a few caveats). 1) I got mine at $250. The 5800x is $420-450, so you can literally get this AND a decent B560 board for the price of just a 5800x. 2) Intel is less picky on Ram. I went 3600/CL18, but anything above DDR4 3000 will give you good performance. 3) Nearly all B460/560 and Z490/Z590 boards allow the removal of power limits, and B560/Z490/Z590 allow memory overclocking. This gives you nearly 10700k performance. 4) Temperatures are less spikey than AMD, probably due to the much larger die/nm size spreading the heat out more. 5) Very close to 5000 series on gaming, straight up better than 3000 series. 6) Lots of headroom, CPU utilization is crazy low in many games. I was updating Flight Sim, running HWinfo, updating Steam library, and playing WoW at the same time and I was just under 20% CPU utilization. Caveats 1) Stock cooler is simply insufficient with power limits raised. You can get a cheap Ares or Vetroo V5 cooler for like $20-25 that will keep this in check. 2) Playing with power limits is a bit above beginner level, but if you're building a PC it should definitely be within your wheelhouse. Google will guide you to the proper resources. That's it. The pros vastly outweigh the small caveats for me. I never use stock coolers anyways (other than Wraith Prism which is decent) so that was a cost coming either platform.

The capability of this CPU is amazing compared to the previous generation i7 9700 in multithread workloads. It has become an amazing value particularly to gamers and power users who are willing to tweak things. It retains gaming dominance over AMD and is nearly as good as it's 10th generation K series Intel counterparts in gaming workloads. However, the numbers can be misleading. In stock form, it is severely limited by the Intel CPU cooler. By simply adding a better CPU cooler you will see a boost in multithread performance because it will not throttle due to heat. With a proper cooler, this CPU becomes a valid alternative to AMDs 3700x and 3800x for content creators who need strong multi-thread performance. Keep in mind this is not a bad thing the processor was designed to this as a method of protecting itself and staying within the advertised 65-watt TDP. If however you have a large well-cooled case and a robust aftermarket CPU cooler you will get significantly improved performance because it's able to do things like maintaining turbo frequencies longer. Before I continue, for any of what I am about to say to apply you need a serious aftermarket CPU cooler and a well-ventilated case. Intel recommends a water cooler. I am using a Zalman 135 mm air cooler and it works but could be better. Recently, Intel unlocked some of the capacities of these CPUs and motherboards like mine an ASRock Extreme4 Z490 allows you to bypass the stock power settings. It's not overclocking but it allows you to change the TDP of 65 Watts up to the 125 watts that 10th generation K series processors use. With the limit set to 125, I am getting all cores at 4.59 Mhz and hitting a single-core turbo of 4.76 after making the necessary adjustments in my BIOS. In benchmarks, I am getting as much as a 25% boost in performance and my multicore capability is almost as good as the i7 10700k. For example, my Passmark Performance Test CPU score is almost 19,000 and my single thread score is over 3000. In Cinnebench R20 I scored 4756. These numbers are awful close to the i7 10700k and better than last year's i9 9900k. This CPU has become an amazing value for gamers who want strong multi-thread capabilities, or content creators who want a CPU that can also dominate games around a 300-340 dollar price point.

I needed something quick and dirty to replace my lightning destroyed Threadripper / Mobo, and Best Buy had the Core i7 10700k in stock. Even though I am a post-Ryzen AMD Fanboy, I have to admit I like the Intel Build. Paired with an nVidia RTX, this is a heck of a gaming beast. From a software development perspective, running Docker containers and Mobile emulators simply works better. Hyper-V does what it is supposed to and is solid. I found the stock fan to be adequate, but a tad noisy. The CPU is much easier to mount than the AMD.

I paired this CPU with an MSI Z490-A Pro. This thing flies and dances circles around my old i5-6400. Going from 4/4 cores/threads to 8/16 is night and day, especially with modern games. At $325 (later reduced and price matched to $280), it's an incredible value even compared to AMD's offerings, especially at 1440p+.

I bought the i7 10700 along with the mail -A Pro mobo. What an upgrade! My previous setup was a ryzen 2700x and x370 crosshair 6 mobo. I wasn't expecting such a difference in performance but wow. I don't think I will ever go back to AMD. Even the install was easier and simpler. With Intel it just works.

Great CPU. I was worried about it only be 2.9ghz but it performs great. Runs all cores at 4.6 when stress testing. Upgraded from an FX 8350 and the performance difference is spectacular. Averaging over 180fps in games like battlefield at 1080p high detail on an RX 580! Fallen order on high averages over 200fps! The FX 8350 would only average in the 80's on high. Great upgrade. Put a deepcool assasin twin tower on this and it keeps it nice and cool. Games are now buttery smooth on my 144hz monitor. Love it

Good starter CPU for gaming with an SSD drive to increase load time and performance. The retail box comes with the Intel Cooling Heat sink and Fan for the extra savings over the K versions which require. I would recommend the Intel CPU's and have purchased many for builds.

Runs great on my new build. Highly recommend replacing the intel CPU cooler with a 3rd party cooler. The one that comes with this CPU keeps the CPU at 40c while idle. Replaced that with a Noctua NH-D9L. And my idle temps are 30c or below. Just an FYI any CPU cooler that is made for CPU socket 1150 fits the new socket 1200 out of the box. Hope this helps.

Very good CPU overall and will handle any and everything you throw at it, my only gripe(and is the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars) is that the cooler it comes with is TERRIBLE which makes sense considering it comes with it but AMD has a better CPU and have higher quality coolers. My CPU fan was so loud playing games that utilized less than %40 of the CPU made it sound like a jet, if you buy any intel cpu (besides an i3 or lower) get your own cooler. The intel coolers are terrible I personally picked up a cooler master hyper 212 black RGB air cooler that works great and is very quiet.

This is a great CPU with awesome performance. It goes through everything no problem. Works quickly in work and play. I have another PC with an i5-10400. Compared to that CPU, there isn't much of a difference. The i7 is a little faster. However, the i7 runs much warmer than the i5. I think the i7 will hold up better over time but I would consider the i5 if you are looking to save money.

It's a CPU, what more can really be said. If you have a working brain then you would know this whole stupid war between fanboys is just dumb. If you need a new PC then you can't go wrong with either, just get something you can afford and enjoy gaming on your new PC! Do yourself a favor and buy the non-K version if you're never going to overclock. For the longest time I was buying the K version of Intel processors and never overclocking them! I've been doing this for years but this time I bought the locked variant and saved nearly $100, I couldn't be happier. I have the technical ability to overclock but am lazy, so this was the better option this time.
