My old pc which was around 7 years old shutdown on me and I had no idea what was failing and causing the crashes so for a cost effective route, I went with an upgrade (new mobo, ssd, cpu, psu). I chose the i7-9700k because I wanted an unlocked i7 coming from a i5 4th gen. I had managed to over lock the i5 to 4.2-4.4 Ghz and these new i7s maintain 4.6 Ghz without overclock. The temps seem more stable than my i5 as well. I am very impressed with this cpus gaming performace.

Excellent Processor

It took a while for me to decide on which processor would be good for my PC build but I landed in this for multiple reasons. At this time it is the most current gen out, it has 8 cores and the processing speed at which it operates. Now, to be honest, I want to build a gaming PC but being a full time worker and full time dad of two awesome boys age 3 and under, I know I dont have time for that and this will just be a fancy PC to check email on. One side note, Best Buy really needs to learn to not ship a $410 item in a small bubble envelope. The box is very beat up and I was on the verge on returning it to buy elsewhere just because it seems like the warehouse that shipped it doesn't care at all. Otherwise, great purchasing experience.

Solid Upgrade From Ryzen 7 2700x

I upgraded to see what all the jazz about Intel was and I have to say that these are my insights:
+ Battlefield V runs without stutters using my RTX 2080 in comparison to my Ryzen and also at about 150-170FPS ultra preset effects off
+ Rainbow Six Siege runs about the same with much higher FPS going from 180-220 to 220-340 FPS.
- My editing with Vegas Edit 15 felt faster and smoother with my 2700x (maybe the 8 core 16 threads played out better)
Overall consider the 3700x and 9700K if you're buying a new chip for the long haul I picked this one because I never have had an Intel before and gaming has been much better. Content creation has been the same or a little worse to the 2700x so I can only imagine the 3700x

This thing is fast! Runs nice and cool under full load, and so far havent needed to OC. I can run BFV at 1080/144, Stream at 1080/60, and have Screen Capture software running without a hiccup. So glad I finally pulled the trigger.

Intel continues to impress me. I have a I5 sandy bridge with my old build that still continues to perform very well which is why I bought this I7 with my new build. Extremely fast processor. Tolerates 4K gaming with ease. Takes me about one minute to get from turning on the computer to the main menu on borderlands three, crazy (paired with SSD M.2).

I was debating about getting the i9 but decided it was too much for me and my gaming setup. So I bought this processor along with z390 MSI MEG ACE motherboard. Had no issue overclocking the i7 to a stable 5.0ghz. Its fast enough for my setup and im one happy customer. Would recommend to any gamer out their.

With AMD's schedule of new architecture release Intel is finally dropping prices significantly enough to sway some people back. I was in the market for a CPU for my daughter's PC build. Something that could handle entry level Gaming, Graphics and Video Editing (mostly 1080p). Once Best Buy dropped prices before the competition I changed back to an Intel based PC build and my daughter is very pleased with the performance. Prices dropped another $30 a week after I purchased and I saved $70 so great job Best Buy...

Best bang for Intel bucks! I9 is not necessary unless you do graphic rendering. This is an excellent gaming processor.

Bought this as an upgrade to my gaming PC that only had a i5 8600k. I’m running it on a Z370 which needed the proper BIOS update in order to run this i7. It’s great and it’s fast and has definitely upped my gaming experience. Previously my CPU was the bottleneck to my GPU and now they’re pretty much on par.

coming from a i3 9100F, this cpu is great! didn’t come with a cooler but you’d need a good aftermarket one anyways. definitely exceeded my expectations. couldn’t recommend more for gaming/work station

The product arrived in a good condition shipping box, opened it to find the product packaging was damaged, my brother will be letting me know later if the CPU sustained any damage or not later, I hope not because I am really looking forward to my new computer.

Very good single core performance. Multi threaded performance is slowed because hyper threading was disabled in this generation.

Description on the box lga1151 but physically it has lga1155 socket!!! It’s terrible cause there are no any motherboard which supports i7 9700k Intel processors in the world. And store don’t want to change or replace it. Just 800$ gift for Best Buy.
Actually it was a gift for my son’s birthday!!

Stays cool and runs all application with no problem. Always have it overclocked and stays in 90 temps. I like it better then the i9 in my opinion and is cheaper

The Gamer's CPU

Upon building my gaming rig for 2019, the first thing I had to greatly consider was the CPU. It was decidedly between the i9-9900K and the i7-9700K.
I decided upon the i7-9700K because extensive research kept proving again and again that if you are primarily using your computer for the function of gaming, there is a very slight difference between the two.
As far as how it performs in the aforementioned category, EXTREMELY well. I have it paired with a RTX 2080 and there seems to be very little bottlenecking going on here. I have the processor overclocked at 5.2Ghz where it will happily sit at about 65 degrees attached to an AIO Corsair H150i.
All in all, temps are manageable, speeds are phenomenal, and the price is while a little on the expensive side; worth the price of admission. If you're looking for the best, this is it.
