I am using the 13900k for video editing in Premiere Pro and let me tell you that this chip is an absolute beast!
It does run pretty hot at stock clocks. I have it mounted with a pressure plate I got from Amazon, Deepcool LS720 AIO to cool it in an NZXT H7 Flow Case with 140mm fans all over (Except the 360 AIO which has 3-120mm fans on the radiator). Here are my temps:
Idles: 30C
2 hours of rendering: 85C (peak at 90C but usually doesn't stay there for long). Also my office tends to stay in the 73F-75F range, so a bit warm.
The ONLY time i've ever thermal throttle'd (100C) is when I was using Prime95 to simply stress test it. But seeing that I do not thermal throttle during editing videos i will not undervolt it.
If you game, you'll obviously get lower temps since gaming doesn't utilize as much CPU power compared to productivity softwares.
Bottom line, i'm not sure why one would need the 13900k UNLESS it was for productivity; but it's an investment work wise!

I'm coming from an 11900K and holy smokes is this thing fast as lightning! Out of the box with stock ILM and a Corsair H150i Elite in a lian li 011 it was hitting 100c at full load but after installing the Thermal Grizzly contact frame and using their Kryonaut Extreme paste its now running 10-15 degrees cooler. I overclocked the P cores to 5.7Ghz and now when I game its in the low to mid 60s vs before it was in the mid to high 80s. So yes the chip does run super hot but with time, patience and the right equipment it's very manageable.

The Core i9-14900K has 36 MB of L3 cache and operates at 3.2 GHz by default, but can boost up to 6 GHz, depending on the workload and setup. Intel® Core™ i9-14900K desktop processor. Featuring Intel Thermal Velocity Boost, Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 Frequency, PCIe 5.0 & 4.0 support, DDR5 and DDR4 support, unlocked Intel® Core™ i9 desktop processors are optimized for enthusiast gamers and serious creators to help deliver high performance. Very nice chip I love it really quick for my gaming needs never seems have any issues in workloads or anything I come to toss its way… power hungry chip an gets hot… so keep in mind if your looking into buying this chip I would recommend at least 360 aio or custom loops. Now I did have a 240 aio first when bought the chip but honestly held up against this beast of a chip but I upgraded my cooling I didn’t want to degrade my chip or anything just rather be on the save side…. I really would recommend this to everyone if you’re looking for a chip that has it all…. Plus last good 5-10 years without needs of upgrading to the core ultra chips coming out later this year intels next gen. With a chip with these stats no need think about upgrading just yet enjoy this chip. I have the i9-14900k 4080 super ti gpu 64gb 6400 ddr5 Rog Maximus mobo best setup I have ever had in I been pc building for least 4 years….

It is fast. I can get or slightly exceed benchmarks of similar machines. However, it gets HOT and my 360 AIO works hard to keep temps at 90c. My recommendation - if you are a gamer and looking for a system build yourself a i7 13700k machine.

This chip is awesome. The BIG.little architecture isn't optimal for the distributed computing project I run (Folding@home) but with process lasso, I can run 16 cores for f@h, and use the other 16 for things like writing reviews of all 32 cores. I run the P cores at full load 24/7, and I was able to tame the temperatures with a -.08 voltage offset, disabled multicore enhancement, and run a bequiet 360 aio. Its silent and fast, what more could you want?

This cpu runs notoriously hot but it’s an absolute killer in performance. I hit just shy of 40k in Cinebench with the stock power configuration. Its cooled with an H100i 240mm cpu cooler with fans in a push pull configuration and pump on the highest speed. While it works, I will soon be upgrading to a 360mm H150i for best results. Overall I’m impressed. With games that are heavily CPU oriented, i.e. Escape From Tarkov, this upgrade has increased my 4k frames and decreased frame latency tremendously!

A beast of a processor. Runs VERY hot so you’ll need a great cooler to go with. Matched it with a NZXT RGB 360 and I’ve never seen it go over 60°C. I haven’t given it a full stress test to push it on temps, but I can say normal use with a good AIO you won’t even think twice.

Beast of a CPU, runs extremely hot, even with liquid cooled AIO. I’m a bit of a PC noob still, so I had bestbuy install all the parts for me, but from messing around with the temperatures, this thing runs relatively hot, so keep an eye on your temperatures

Have been using this for less than a week. Amazing cpu, easy to install in your motherboard. Package appears more simpler compared to older model.
Question: do you want an over built, beast of a cpu that you will likely not use to its full potential, but want the best of the best and your willing to pay a small premium compared to the slower model, but you're not some simp that wants something good but wants to dominate and laugh because you're cpu is better than all the ones out there?
If the answer is yes, than please get this.

Phenomenal chip without having to dial in any settings. Ran stock with a 5.5Ghz P core boost and reached 4.3Ghz on the E cores. Tuning the voltages properly helped get tempuratures under control. Highly recommend for anyone looking to do productivity workloads.

installed this fairly priced, intimidatingly powerful CPU on a ASUS ProArt Z790 and the union was a dazzling display of seamless compatibility. With window 11 installed on an nvme my system boots and has me at the user sign in screen in literally 4 seconds. Never experienced anything quite like it. My only concern is for the bar that my expectations are now set at. Which is obnoxiously high in case I failed to make that clear. This is one purchase you can make with confidence. Enjoy the multitudinous cores and their processing prowess.

Upgraded from a 12900k to the 13900k and couldn’t be happier. After some minor tweaking, -.070 to vcore and setting pl1 and pl2 to 280w this chip runs super cool with my Arctic freezer ii 360 aio. Idles in the 20s, games in the high 30s to 50s and cinebench r23 runs top out at about 78c. Runs cooler than my 12900k did. Very solid chip.
