System mechanic professional is a great tool to clean up and optimize computer. I used system mechanic to fix registry errors and improve browisng performance.

Don't...just don't. Has corrupted my files, won't uninstall and let's not even talk about tech support. Interferes with pages loading, locks up computer and all sorts of problems that started once installed. Years ago this was a good product but now you just can't get rid of it. Waiting for tech support to help me get this piece of crap off my computer.

This System Mechanic suite of products provides everything you could want for antivirus protection. I have been using it for less than a week, but so far everything is intuitive and seems to be effective for my cell phone and multiple computers. The software was a breeze to install and everything made sense right out of the box. Overall a very good product.

The product on its own is good. It does what it claims to do. It worked fine from June through last week. Last week it began corrupting zip files as they would download so that NO Zip program would recognize them as functional archives. Uninstalling the program fixed everything. Reinstalling the program brought the issue back. I contacted customer service. VERY shady chat experience and they asked to tap into my system. I gave them access (ugh!) and THEN they said it'd be 4-6 hours before they could get in and do it. So I left it on OVERNIGHT. Today, nothing. Today they say it can take 12-24 hours. I asked for a refund. I can't spend more time on this. Refused because they only guarantee for 30 days. So now I have a program I can't use because if i can't unzip files, that creates a pretty useless system, but I also can't get a refund because the company refuses. Then they told me to CALL so I could speak to a tech. I said, just put them in my system...why do I need to speak with them on the phone suddenly...wouldn't do it. Finally I gave up. The program works and then it doesn't...and when it doesn't...it doesn't BIGLY. And the company refuses to stand by their work.

I first bought this a disk in about 2006. It was pretty cool, cleaning up space back when it was a big deal. Also, it let you run the disc on any computer without installing it, or you could register the installation on ten computers. Ownership changed hands and computers have changed, too. I have been getting the latest version because the prompt is cheap. Right now I am looking at an "upgrade," which it is not (but it will get me another year) for $14.95. I have had good and bad experiences with tech support. The last time wasn't good and I had to figure it out myself. If you have it, it is hard to pass up the renewal and the fact that you can put it on multiple computers. I think I have loaded it onto six so far, because you replace them that often. When that runs out I won't get it anymore.

I bought the digital version which iolo calls basic. They claim that there are 3 versions. I only see 2 on Best Buy. I ran the "basic" version and it cleaned up the junk on my computer. I saw the malware option on the dashboard, so I ran it. Several hours and 1.7 million files later, it found 11 malware programs. So I hit the option button to get rid of them. Button refused to pull down. I went to iolo website and chatted with sales there and told me that I had to buy the Ultimate version to fix that! I asked why put that in a program that can't fix it. That was put that in there to tease you to buy the more expensive version. Sorry, not hooking me with that ploy. I will figure out how to remove the malware on my own.

I have downloaded Iolo technologies - System Mechanic Ultimate Defense. It was easy to install and set up. Once that was completed, I ran the cleanup wizard to get rid of unwanted files and unnecessary registry clutter. It also helped optimized the speed of my system. This suite is very comprehensive - it took care of all the issues my laptop has. I no longer worry about invasions or viruses now that I have this software in place. Overall I am very satisfied.

I had been warned before buying this product that they will try to sell you expensive tech support. I declined that, but a month after installing it I got an email that my tech support was being renewed at $20+ per month. I had two days to cancel it. Luckily I responded and cancelled, but it was clear the person I was talking to was a sales agent. He tried to talk me out of it, offered a free month of tech support, and finally cancelled it. I won't renew this product once the paid subscription is done.
