I needed something to convert about 2000 slides to digital. They belonged to my father. Pics of our family and friends, dating back to the mid-50s. No one had viewed them in more than 30 years. The operation is simple. Load a dozen slides in the magazine, and one by one, view them and decide if they are worth saving to the scan disc, or pass to the next one. This one is a little time consuming, compared to more expensive models, but for my project, it was more than sufficient. And my family LOVED the results!

This film to sd max slide scanner is the best thing since sliced bread.
So simple and easy-to-use and so very fast. I am not real tech savvy but i had no problem at all with this scanner. I had close to a thousand slides and had them transferred to my computer in a couple days.

Camera in a box

This is a great value for the price. It is not technically a scanner: it is a "camera in a box." That explains why it works so fast. It works with slides and negatives, turning them into .jpg's.
I use this unit as a "stand alone" without a computer. It's smaller than a coffee can and light enough to sit comfortably on your lap. It's easy to use. The pictures are stored on the included SD card after a button press. I transfer the pictures from the SD card to my computer for storage and editing with my preferred photo software.
I was able to go through a large number of old 35mm negatives that had been sitting around in boxes for years, in a few nights. It reads the negatives reasonably well, converting them into positives (i.e. normal pictures.) I found the converted negatives required some photo editing later, usually a bump in color. (Don't blame the scanner if the quality isn't perfect: the quality of many old consumer grade print films was not very good.)
It does 35mm slides too. Most of the "scans" from slides looked very good, certainly acceptable for sharing. My only complaint is that the color balance runs deep blue on some "warm" (yellow / tropical) slides. Occasionally, the unit will pick up dust, but it's easily blown out.
I have used expensive professioal slide scanners. They will give you a better result, but at a much higher cost and a much, much slower pace. This unit will give you a quicker result, one that is acceptable in our tablet / iPhone world. (It's also a lot of fun to see your old forgotten pictures again.) I recommend it.

I bought this after finding out how much it would cost to get all my family's old slides and random negatives converted. I had it set up and scanning slides in under 5 minutes. Some slides are different thickness and it adjusts for that, however, a lot of my slides were about 1/8 of an inch too long and too wide so I had to coerce those slides to feed through. After a short learning curve I could convert 10-25 slides per minute (depending on if they fit or not). I paid around $80 which isn't bad compared to the alternatives. Lastly, using this to convert negatives wasn't too bad either.

This little slide and negative scanner is a great addition to my scanning devices. I am able to get it my slides and negs scanned quickly and with little effort on my part. It is smaller than Ithought from the pictures so it does fit better on my desk. I know I've scanned 150 to 200 slides in just a couple of hours. My only wish was that you could start the numbering where I wanted to. Found out after I added my scans to my folder and cleared the SD card that it started it counter only giving me duplicate numbers.

My father had 28 trays of slides from the last nearly 70 years he wanted digitized. I volunteered to do it but the digitizer he had purchased was slow and would have taken forever to complete. With this product, I average about three trays an hour. I'm ecstatic!

I have several thousand 35mm slides that I wanted to be able to review again, but my slide projector wouldn't work anymore. I was able to copy very easily more than two thousand slides in less than a week spending only a two or three hours a day and have saved them to a flashdrive and have seen them on my large screen TV. Great product, only problem I had was some of the slides were so old that the speed slide view had to be adjusted several times due to the thickness of the slide. Otherwise it was really great transfering them to digital. Great quality. I'm looking forward to completing all by slides and negatives to digital.

It does what it says. It scans slides and negatives. It does have a few gotchas.
For negatives, 35mm film, works pretty well.
For slides on the other hand, it does work when you can get it to feed. No matter how you adjust it for the slide thickness, you will get it to jam, doublefeed, not line up, etc. They should have skipped the "feeder" mess and just went with something similar to the tray for negatives.
Scanning itself was fairly quick. If you have a box of old, scratched negatives, well, you'll get scanned scratched images. If you treated your negatives well, you'll get better results.
The adjustments on the scanner are very basic, better to correct with a software tool.
It works mostly as described. It's not a $1000 scanner but it is very functional.

Fast, efficient. I run it off a USB port connected to my computer. After saving the scanned slides to the SD card, I turn off the unit, turn it back on and select connection to the computer. It then becomes an extended USB drive from which I can post process and save the slides scanned. File sizes are about right for a 24MP jpeg photo, ~ 3 to 4 mb. After post processing using photoshop elements to spot heal the spots and scratches that were on the silide, the file sizes increase to about 7 or 8 meg.
So far I've only scanned slides. I haven't tried the negative scanning yet.

I have been copying old slides to preserve and save. I will be able to make copies of the SD card to give my children. It is doing a better job than any other I have tried. I have not tried to copy negatives yet but if it does as well as the slides I will be happy.

I have used the scanner primarily for slides, and have processed well over 500 so far without issue. The controls are relatively intuitive. The only complaint I have is that the bulk slide feeder is a bit small. Most of the slides I have are a tight fit, and I have to continually push the stack down for the next slide to feed properly. If it wasn't for this I would have rated the product 5 stars. The SD card storage is very handy and allows for quick and easy transfers to my PC. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend the scanner to anyone that has a large number of slides to digitize.

Don't have slides so bought it for the negative scanning function and on 126 and 35mm negatives it does as expected but the slide holder does not really accommodate 110 film and will have to rig something to get it to work with the holder.

Bought this scanner to replace a similar slide scanner that suddenly gave degraded scans with vertical lines. Really like the slide holder for ease of use and faster speed. However this LCD viewer is very ``washed out`` in normal light and I preferred the folding viewer in my Previous unit. Overall a good scanner for the price, and I hope it doesn`t wear quickly as I have several thousand slides to convert. - Cheers!!

I purchased the scanner to scan some 40 yr old slides some were so dried out they were falling apart. Many went through the scanner fine but quite a few also got stuck. This was more a function of the age of the slides than the scanner. If you have newer slides you can scan quite a few in a short period of time. Quality of the scans requires slides that are in good condition many of mine were light and had faded. Contrast is a little bit of an issue but they do come out pretty well overall. The scanner comes with a stick with a white pad that is used to clean the scanner from dust since even a small speck can be pretty large. If you do get any scanner fine a copy of the Polaroid dust remover it works very well. Once you are done with the scanner sell it to someone else who needs a scanner. This is a use and sell item.

This is a good, inexpensive slide scanner. It does the job without paying an arm and a leg. My only complaint is that the slide tray handle to advance each slide is really flimsy. After processing about 400 slides, the small handle broke off of the multiple slide tray unit. I was able to continue use by sending each slide through one at a time. Other than that, it's a decent little machine.

I have 60 year old 35mm slides I haven't looked at in years. The unit works as advertised but takes a little getting used to. I have converted 1650 slides already and am just getting started. I also converted 35mm blk/white negatives of my wedding. The negatives lasted longer than the marriage. I love this product.

I had less than 500 slides to scan to our family album. It was easy to use and copied them quiet well. I guess my only wish would be that you could set the number of the scan yourself as it restarts everytime you take out the card to download it to your hard drive. But other than that I got the job done without a lot of effort and time. Well worth the money I spent.

Scanned 35mm negatives. Very easy to setup and use. It is time consuming to do negatives as there is not an 'easy feed' option. I haven't tried doing slides, 110 or 126 negative yet but anticipate that it will do as well as the 35mm.

I think you know what to expect when you spend this much on a product that does this. It is very adequate, but be prepared to make adjustments to the photos afterwards. Other than that, it flies through scans quickly, and negs, and slides. it is great for the price, i would recommend this for non professional digital archiving of old family memories!
