This is a good, inexpensive scanner. It comes with several different size frames to place pictures in and handles 2 different size slides. You will place 1 picture or 4 or 5 slides at a time in the machine to copy, so it is slow going if you have a lot to do. The controls to change the contrast and colors of the picture are limited but work some. You can save the pictures to your hard drive or the machine will work independently and save to a 2 GB memory card, which is included. Don't expect to work professionally with this, but it does work for home conversion.

I had some old slides from the mid sixties, that I hadn't looked at in fifty years. I already had a older scanner that did photos and slides, but was difficult to use. I checked Best Buy and they had the Ion photo, slide, and negative scanner on sale. It was exactly what I needed, I scanned 41 slides in about 15 minutes, loading onto the supplied SD memory card. I also scanned a couple of photos and they were just a easy. Self standing, no need to connect to a computer. A excellent scanner that's easy to use.

I was looking for this type of machine for a long time.
I was pleasantly surprised when The Best Buy in the Waterfront
had one.
It is the best way to convert old color slides to digital images.
The jpeg. images are large enough to print 3 foot by 4 foot posters.
Very easy to use and understand.
4 stars.

This was a great gift for my parents that are trying to preserve their old photos for their grandchildren. It is easy to use and produces a decent quality digital copy.

My father passed away and left me hundreds of pictures ... in slide form. I shopped for a projector and really could not afford one, however came across this and decided to give it a try...Lo and behold, it is Better than a projector. It allows you to download onto a disc and computer....Much better. Only cons are preview size and time consumption.

So far I really like the results of the photos I've scanned. 3x5 4x6 and 5x7 photos come out great with no cropping needed. Any other odd sizes will need some editing. Some negatives scan perfectly when compared to the photo version of the same pictures. Others do need a bit of color adjusting, which can be done through the scanner. Very lightweight and easy to carry. Files are .jpg format and up to 10 megapixels which seems to be enough for photos that weren't high rez in the first place.

The was my second attempt at trying to find a negative scanner that works, and it does. It's very time consuming of course, but the pictures come out very nice.

Very easy to get started with and use. Most of the scans have been really high quality. A few have picked up some glare, however. Overall I am very satisfied

Does a good job of scanning slides. The only issue is that the process is slow. If you have time, then this device can do a very good job for you.

I literally have tubs of print photos I want to transfer to digital, and this little guy is making that process so much easier. I can put it in my lap (it's made of lightweight plastic), choose a photo holder close to the size I need, and start loading and scanning. Then zap them all across to my PC, easy peasy. The resulting images are clear and large enough for my purposes. I chose this version for the slide/film holder options that weren't available with other models.

This scanner takes 35 mm slides and film strips, and will also accept the old 127 film with some finagling. It has a good exposure value adjuster. The only drawback I have experienced is that the film strip carrier is awkward to open---but even that can be learned!

This thing is pretty neat, I've already started backing up my old negatives, and so far pretty smooth. A little time consuming but to me it will be well worth it.

Scanner converts 35mm slides, 35mm film, 3.5"x5", 4"x6", 5"x7" photos to digital jpg files to a included 2G byte SD card. Files are saved starting at PICT0001.JPG continuing in count until SD card is full. Inserting a new SD card resets to PICT0001.JPG. A good option would be able to rename groups of files to your desired name. Other than that it's simple an a excellent product for the price.

I have always carried a camera with me starting with a 110 to a 35 mm, now a DLSR. I have taken thousands of photos, many with film. I figured the photos were lost in the negatives, which I have carried around for years. I came across this reader for negatives. The best thing ever. The memories came flooding back looking thru them. I would definitely recommend this product

The color balance, contrast and lightness are really difficult to get right. so far I've only gotten lucky about 10% of the time. It's good I have photo shop, or this thing would be nearly useless.
