Worst Scanner with the Worst Technical Support

I brought this scanner in hopes of organizing a tremendous amount of paper work to support my efforts of "going green". Unfortunately the scanner was not cooperative. Unfortunately, the manual only has 5 short pages on how to use the entire scanner....3 pages on how to use the software that supports full page scanning and 2 pages on how to use software that uses the business card scanning component. After scanning a business card, the information was never recognized the text accurately. It would have been quicker entering in all the business card data. Additionally, Irisscan makes the claim that you can scan documents into word, excel, pdf and html. The only one that worked was scanning documents into an rft format.
With all this being said, I attempted to contact technical support and wow...a company that does not offer technical support over the telephone. You have send them an email and they will get back to you. They are still getting back to me and the product has long been returned.
In short form, do not waste your money. Even if you are doing simple scanning such as photos or receipts, there is a less expensive alternative then this scanner.

Husband began new job and needed a scanner to scan pdf files. Many of his are legal-sized documents. However, the website and packaging claims are false - it doesn't scan anything over 8 1/2 X 11 - I take that back - it does scan them, just cuts it off at 11 "! He does enjoy the fact that it's conveniently lightweight and easy to travel with.

Software difficult to navigate

Software installation was not the easiest. Once I was able to scan docs I tried to e-mail sample docs and the files would not transmit. Manual did not have a FAQ section to help troubleshoot. I suggest trying a different scanner for use with a MAC.

I had an excellent printer but it lacked scanning feature. I purchased this instead of replacing my printer with an all-in-one type. I returned the Iriscan and bought a new printer which I am very pleased with. I was able to purchase the OCR software from Iris as a stand alone product I could download from the internet. I did purchase my Canon Pixama printer from my local Best Buy store. I appreciate Best Buy's return policy, and I will continue to shop Best Buy in total confidence.

My son is in the army and I save all of his letters. I've been using this scanner to scan each letter and then email to my family. It makes it easy to scan and send directly to my email. I can also scan pictures and newspaper articles I want to save. It has been very handy!

This product comes with Readiris Pro version 11.6 and in order for it to work on Mac OS Lion, you need Readiris Pro version 12. There is no way to upgrade from 11.6 to 12; you will have to buy the complete software program for around $123.
