Customers are saying

Customers regard the Roomba e5's cleaning performance, ease of use, and pet hair removal capabilities very positively. However, some users express concerns about its navigation system, noise level, and battery life. The small dustbin size is also a recurring point of feedback. While many appreciate its suction and dirt pickup, improvements in certain areas could enhance the overall user experience.

Wows goods. Nice to come home with floors swept and carpet vacuumed. Thought I had a private cleaning service.

Seems to do pretty good. I have a lab and bought during shedding season. I run it morning snd night. Keeps up pretty good with hair control. On occasion I do get the big vac out when I deep clean. So far very satisfied.

Was so very excited to finally purchase an iRobot vacuum! Thought I’d likely waited an acceptable amount of time for the bugs to have been worked out. So very disappointed. It moves around quite nicely but seems to be quite particular about just what it will pick up. While the patterns it leaves behind are lovely and quite “zen” - it simply doesn’t have enough suction power to rid my home of the sandy dirt that my dogs lil paws introduce to the home. But the patterns really are lovely.

    Better than expected

Christmas present for my wife; she's been wanting a robot vacuum for some time, but like most things, I wanted to wait for features to improve and prices to drop. This one had the right features and a reasonable price. Indeed, it's working better than I expected. (BTW - since she opened the diamond ear rings first, she wasn't insulted by a vacuum - heh!) At any rate, this is a pretty neat gizmo! Pairs up with her iPhone easily and she was able to learn to operate it without me getting involved - a HUGE plus. Sure, it makes a noise, but what would you except from motors making rollers and brushes go round and round really fast? Seriously, the noise complaints I've read seem to more reflect unrealistic expectations. Most important: it does a better job of sweeping the floor than I do, and it does it without my help. The dog doesn't much like it and leaves the room when it goes to work, but it really does a good job of sucking up the hair. Just be sure to frequently empty the bin if you have hairy pets. As to that, the rubber brushes are really easy to clean. Now, I'm not an iPhone user like her, but I can operated it just fine without a phone app. Then again I pretty much just turn it loose, which speaks to how easy it is to use. My favorite part is watching it go home.

I have a seriously long history with Roombas!

I hate vacuuming and have been using Roombas since 2005. I have always been impressed with the technical progress and quality of each successive Roomba series and for that reason have never considered purchasing one of Roombas competitors. I finally ran a 500 series Roomba into the ground and decided to gift myself with a new Roomba for Xmas as part of my plan to make my home self-sufficient prior to retirement and to address allergies. I liked what my extensive research revealed about the Roomba E5 but even with its Black Friday pricing had qualms about the it's new dual rubber rollers thinking they would be questionable on carpets covered with fur from three cats - but I ordered one anyway thinking I could always return it if it didn't work out. While waiting for the first Roomba to be shipped to me I thought "What the hey, in for a penny, in for a pound" and ordered a second E5 so I could cover my home's upper and main floors. I named the new guys "Cabana Boy" and "The Butler" and they are monsters! They pull enough deeply embedded cat fur and icky dander from the carpets every time I run them to fully outfit another cat and a half and you should believe Roomba when it claims the E5 has 5 times the vacuum power of its earlier 600 series (I have a 620 and 650). My cream carpet looks visibly fresher and fluffier every time I run Cabana Boy and The Butler. I also enjoy a harmless power trip when controlling both Roombas from my I-phone and the Alexa App. I've scheduled my "cleaning crew" to run every other day and twice on weekends and I feel so decadent, like I should be lying on a chaise eating peeled, seedless grapes and scarfing down Bon-Bons as they scurry about the house in my stead. Heaven help me but I've begun to consider purchasing a 3rd E5 for my home's lowest level even though my 620 and 650 while lacking WIFI still do a competent cleaning job which is their prime function. Someone please, talk me down!!! I did experience one problem though, Cabana Boy didn't fully charge the first time I used it. I didn't want to damage the battery by leaving the Roomba on the charger too long and called Roomba Customer Service. The Tech walked me through removing the battery and sitting it back in place and 15 minutes later Cabana Boy was fully charged and reflecting it in the Roomba App. Yeah! If you're considering a Roomba, buy it! Dang it, buy two!

Great for an economical roomba. Positives: cleans well, gets around my whole first floor on a single battery charge, was not too expensive. Negatives: small bin so you have to clear it at least once during cleaning if you have pets, has trouble get back on its charger.

I have two double-coated dogs, so shedding is non-stop, but especially intense this time of year. I run my Botvac every night. I had an iRobot many years ago, but got a cheaper brand when it died. I was happy with the other brand for many years, but when it finally died, I got the same brand again and the first ran once or twice, then malfunctioned. I returned it and got another, which also malfunctioned after one run. Returned it and got this iRobot Botvac. I don’t run mine via the app, so I can’t speak to how well that works. Manually, it works fine, though the first couple of runs didn’t do well with the dog hair. It has improved with more runs. It’s a bit loud, but doesn’t bother me. Sometimes gets hung up on the base of my tower fan, but not a huge deal (it does signal when this happens). Dirt bin is a bit smaller than I would like, so sometimes I have to run it more than once.

    IRobot - Roomba e5

I really like this vacuum but I also realize it's limitations. For example, if the Roomba goes to far away from it's charger, it will not be able to find it's way "home". Also, it only runs an hour or so without needing to go back to the charger. I run it at night so the sound doesn't bother me, but it is relatively loud. I wish it would go back to the charger when it was full, but it doesn't so it will just leave blobs of dog hair on the carpet. I really do enjoy it though - just need to realize it's limitations. Cleans carpet really well.

The Gold Standard for Robo Vacs

I purchased a first-generation iRobot nearly 8 years ago; it worked great and lasted exceptionally well. I eventually replaced it with a leading competitor’s version (the one that typically sits next to the iRobot on the store shelf). The replacement version was total junk, it’s not made nearly as well, it’s sensors drive it full throttle into objects (beating the heck out if it almost immediately) and it was continuously giving me unclear/unresolvable errors when no real challenges for operating smoothly existed. In less than a month it literally stopped working (note- I carefully cleaned it after every use and made sure nothing was stuck in it). I returned it and replaced it with the iRobot; one month into using the new iRobot its performance superiority is obvious. It works flawlessly, is constructed with higher quality materials and techniques and does a better cleaning job (with clearly more advanced sensors that don’t have it banging into things like its trying to destroy itself). My only reason for not giving iRobot 5 stars is that it does not include (in the version I bought at least) boundary blocking devices (they can be purchased separately, but frankly are seriously overpriced priced), nor does it use the ingenious/cost effective magnetic tape strips to block areas that the competitor’s version uses. Also, if it matters to you the iRobot is notably louder than the competitors version. All in all however, no real competition for the iRobot, you get what you pay for.

Overall - not impressed for the price point. We tried a Shark version that was similarly priced and it outperformed this unit. Pros: -It is easy to empty contents after cleaning -It picks stuff up off the floor Cons: -Without mapping capabilities, this unit frequently gets lost and does a more inefficient job of cleaning compared to those units with mapping capabilities. -The unit frequently gets stuck on ledges. -The unit frequently can't find its way home. -The unit's side sweeping brush stopped working after 24 days. -Best Buy Return Policy is 15 days for this product Overall: I think this unit would work for a home that is more symmetrical, but not in homes with more complicated layouts - so if you are in the market, consider the mapping models if you are in the same situation, or if you have a lot of furniture the unit will need to navigate around.

Pros: Is very nice to have the possibility of cleaning remotely any time and make a program-schedule as you wish. It is grate in steps not falling down, the battery range is enough to clean a considerable area. The App is simple Cons: The robot is a little bit noisy and some times it hits furniture corners harder than straight walls, the dirt reservoir have to be clean frecuently.

    Roomba e5 review

I purchased the Roomba e5 in August 2020. It was easy to set up. Once you download the App on your phone it is very easy to set the times and days you would like it to start and you can control when you are not home. The issue I have is that it is always getting stuck under furniture. It has a part that rotates under to pick up things in floor and it got stuck and it broke early on. It was intended for pet hairs and the wheels get stuck with the hair. I clean it after every cleaning. I feel I always have to monitor it and if I am not home I need to attend to it when I get back. It also has trouble finding its way back to base and sometimes it does do it correctly and doesn't charge for the next day. It helps but I feel I have to babysit it. Maybe if it were a tad taller it wouldn't get stuck under the furniture. It's also quite loud so you can't have a normal conversation with someone while it is in use in the same area you're in.

I've had mine for about a month now. We named ours Dusty because it came out of the box dusty. Lol Dusty is a little special but he gets the job done. I have two kids and two furbabies one of which is a Mastiff/Great Dane mix who sheds like crazy and Dusty helps A LOT in controlling the hair on the floor. Dusty is able to pick up small objects such as small dog food left behind from my Chiweenie. I have it scheduled to run everyday at 1 p.m. and we come home to a clean floor. The bin is emptied everyday. He works well on carpet also. My only complaint about Dusty is that it seems like the rubber brushes are going to wear out pretty fast. There are already places where the brushes are looking a little rough. If you're bothered by even the slightest noise you might want to schedule him to clean when you're not home.

This Roomba works pretty well. It wanders a lot, cleans with no real pattern and needs to be guided back to it's home every once in a while. It's the midgrade Roomba and it shows. I understood that before buying it so...... If you want a precision cleaner, pay for the more expensive model with the extra navigation technology. If not, this should be just fine for most.

We're really enjoying this vacuum (the third we've owned). The cleaning job it does is the best of the three but it seems to have trouble getting back to the base (running out of battery) about 1/3 of the time. It is also louder than the other two we've owned.

Initially, I was skeptical of getting the vacuum. I assumed it would be a toy and then we would get tired of it. I began taking a look at the IROBOT at another store. The attendant didn't seem to care or want to know about the product. Fortunately, there was "BEST BUY" close since my interest was peeked we went. It is terrible in corners, the newer models have a square end so I can see how that works better. Also it can fill up fast so you have to empty after every use. That being said, this device is great. I have two dogs that shed and a reasonable amount of carpet in the home. It goes through-out home with ease. It crosses carpet, tile, and hardwood. We can use the app or voice commands with the echo smart.

I'm impressed by how much the vacuum picks up. I like the convenience of scheduling. I wish it had a remote control feature through the app. Unfortunately it tends to get stuck. We have some furniture it fits under, some it doesn't fit under, and some it almost fits under. That's where the trouble comes in. Other than that, it's not a bad gadget. I like the modular design that makes it easy to remove the brushes and rollers for cleaning and maintenence. Does a good job on bare floors, rugs, and carpet. It will knock over or move lighter items. It also senses when it's at the top of stairs and won't go over so that's a good feature. I like being able to put it in one room and close the door knowing that the whole flooelr will get a good thorough going over. Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase and would buy it again.
