Does not pick up pet hair very well. I find “rolls” of hair clumps all over the floors after its finished. It is pretty loud/noisy and especially when it automatically empties itself in the bin. Sounds like a jet taking off.

    Roomba Damaged the Pine Baseboards

I have tried the i3 for a few times now. It does a reasonable job of maintaining the carpet clean; not recommended for heavily soiled areas. I check the rollers after each use & find that it rarely catches on hair or fibers, which is a plus. But it does leave little dust plugs on the carpet now & then. The biggest problem I see with i3 is its hard bumper that bangs on the baseboards, doors & furniture legs. I have solid pine white painted boards that have been stripped of paint. There are scuff marks all over as well as dents on the wood. I tried cleaning the marks but could not remove the black marks everywhere. The damage to the wood baseboards is something that would require sanding, wood filling & painting etc. It would be time consuming & unnecessary. The robot was supposed to make life easier not create more problems. I was ready to return this but my husband insisted that we should allow the robot to “learn”. So I had to put foam sheets all around the baseboard corners, doors etc. That took long time. Roomba did the same hard banging everywhere the next few times I used it. iRobot built a smart vacuum cleaner but they could not get the soft rubber bumper in neutral color to prevent damage to the baseboards & furniture. This happens anytime I tried using the vacuum; the robot does not learn. It bangs really hard sometimes & any surface that is not protected can get damaged. Please see attached photos.

Side brush motor mount missing entirely

We bought this vacuum for over $600 because it's quieter than other vacuums and with an autistic child who is sensitive to motors, it was worth a shot. The only part she really dislikes is when it empties the robot. HOWEVER, after running it for a couple weeks (We literally bought it on 05.08.2022) we realized it really sucked at hitting the edge of the rooms. Out of curiosityI noticed the left brush was missing. Thinking maybe it got snagged somewhere, I bought a pack of replacement brushes. When they came in I flipped the vacuum over to replace the brush thinking it would be a quick fix. NOPE. The entire side brush motor/assembly is missing. Where you would usually easily unscrew and reattach a new brush, there's a literal hole where the brush would mount. There is no way to attach a side brush. The box was completely sealed when we purchased it so this makes me feel like it was a manufacturing issue. It's ridiculous that in under a month of owning this $600 appliance, I'm already going to purchase replacement parts and fix it myself. Here's hoping there's a good youtube video for this situation?!

Very disappointed, the "self empty" feature is mediocre at best. I have 2 dogs that shed constantly in a carpeted and hardwood home. The roomba will fill up and not recognize its full and continue to vacuum anyways, leaving matted dog hair all over the home. Proprietary iRobot bags for the auto empty home base are expensive and not reusable. Combine that with the 6-8 hours it takes to completely vacuum a 1600 sq ft home, even after a week of use with plenty of time to learn the layout, we decided to return it.

Worked great for almost 3 weeks. After that, I have had numerous issues with the vacuum not completing cleans, cleaning the same area multiple times, not cleaning as scheduled, not cleaning manually using the clean button, not able to connect to the app, and repeatedly claiming I need to "reboot". I spend significantly more time trouble shooting this vacuum than it spends attempting to clean. This vacuum is two months old and is by far the worst purchase I have made this year. At its best (2 months ago), it took 1-2 hrs to clean my 1300 square foot home. I did like that it cleaned under the beds and furniture where dust would accumulate, but it would be significantly less stressful and time consuming to move all the furniture and vacuum manually under hard to reach areas than waste any more time on this overpriced vacuum that selectively cleans a small portion of your home on a good day right after the return policy has expired. I generally don’t care to say negative things or spend time writing reviews at all, but I dislike this product that much.

Do not buy their products ! 18 months later I have to buy another cleaning head module. 2 months later another one. Called support said i could send the whole vacuum back at my expense for 150 and they would try to fix. Try! Parts are only good for 60 days perfect for the company when they go bad in 75.

Destroys baseboards and floor trim, took all the paint off mine. Leaves a lot of dirt on the floor and takes forever to do a full cycle. Super loud. I can do a better job myself in a fraction of time.

So, this is the first time I've tried a robot vacuum. I really like it, but I'm not sure it's going to work out. Out of the box, the Roomba looks like a quality bit of tech. I placed the thing as best I could per the manual's directions and left it to charge overnight. The next day, I followed through with the rest of its setup. I had a bit of trouble with that, and ultimately wound up having to connect both the robot and my phone to my house's 2.4GHz WIFI band. Once it was fully set up, I was able to switch my phone back to the 5GHz band and control it without any issues. The app is intuitive and has a wide variety of options, though "per room" instructions appear limited to more expensive and intelligent models. First run, I was excited to see it in action, and it's fascinating to watch. It has a pair of front-facing pushbar sensors, and it will gently tap things that it encounters and try to go around them. Unless those things are shorter than the pushbars or light enough to push. Then it just tries to bulldoze over them. It cleans and navigates around furniture rather well, but it tends to smash into the cat's food and water bowls, spilling their contents and then mostly leaving behind a bigger mess. Per the manual, this kind of thing can be avoided by putting "virtual wall" sensors around things you'd like it to avoid, but none are included. It also has absolutely no problem climbing over things up to at least 1/2" thick, like cords, thresholds, and the plywood sheets that I build my relatively delicate Halloween and Christmas train displays on. I don't dock it points for that, it's really kind of impressive. Just maybe not right for my environment three months out of the year. I'm okay with that. But my environment has other problems. My home was built in the 60's and has a weird, semicircular sunken area that cuts through a large portion of the living/dining/kitchen area. The poor robot doesn't seem to understand what's going on. It finds what it assumes is a step, and it's like "Oh, okay, a step. Let me try to find the spot where this stops so I can keep going". But the step doesn't stop. The step goes on for thirty feet, and it does it in a wide curve. The Roomba just seems to have the worst time trying to figure out what's happening, and it does this every single time it runs. I imagine that one of the models with internal mapping features would remember this bizarre, unique, and "charming" feature of my home, but this one spends a large amount of time each time it runs trying to figure it out again. When it gets low on power or fills up on debris, it returns to its base and empties itself. When it does this, it sounds like an industrial shop vac. It's only for maybe ten or fifteen seconds, but it's definitely enough to wake someone up. That being said, the sound is absolutely worth not having to empty the Roomba by hand. As an aside, you know all those videos out there on the internet you see of cats riding these things? That's not my cat. He lives in mortal terror of the thing, and I'm probably going to have to get rid of it for that reason alone, which is kind of a shame because in spite of its faults, the Roomba is just cool and fun to watch. All in all, even though I don't think it's going to work out for me, I'm going to recommend it anyway. Just... maybe avoid it if you've got strangely shaped rooms with weird floor features, or pets that take attacks on their food bowls personally.

    Roomba i3 Review

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Pros: -Powerful cleaning performance with adaptive navigation -Wi-Fi connectivity for convenient control -Self-emptying feature reduces maintenance -Compatible with voice assistants for hands-free operation -Edge-sweeping brushes for thorough cleaning Cons: -Can get stuck on certain obstacles -May require occasional manual intervention -Relatively expensive compared to other models -Limited bin capacity for larger cleaning tasks Review: The iRobot Roomba i3 Evo 3550 is a reliable and efficient robotic vacuum cleaner that makes everyday cleaning tasks effortless. With its powerful cleaning performance, smart features, and self-emptying capability, it's designed to keep your floors tidy without constant supervision. One of the standout features of the Roomba i3 Evo 3550 is its adaptive navigation system. Equipped with intelligent sensors, it smoothly navigates around furniture and obstacles, ensuring thorough cleaning of your floors. Its high-performance suction power and dual multi-surface brushes work together to effectively capture dirt, debris, and pet hair, leaving your floors looking spotless. The Wi-Fi connectivity feature allows you to control and monitor the Roomba i3 Evo 3550 through the iRobot Home app on your smartphone. You can schedule cleaning sessions, customize cleaning preferences, and even receive notifications when the bin is full or maintenance is required. This convenience allows you to manage your cleaning tasks from anywhere, anytime. A notable advantage of the Roomba i3 Evo 3550 is its self-emptying capability. The Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal system automatically empties the robot's bin into a larger bagless base, which can hold several weeks' worth of debris. This feature significantly reduces the need for frequent emptying and maintenance, making it a great time-saver. For added convenience, the Roomba i3 Evo 3550 is compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. You can simply use voice commands to start or stop cleaning sessions, check the robot's status, or even ask it to return to the charging dock. This hands-free operation is particularly useful when you have your hands full or want to clean specific areas quickly. While the adaptive navigation system is generally reliable, the Roomba i3 Evo 3550 may occasionally get stuck on certain obstacles, such as loose wires or rug edges. However, with a little manual intervention, you can easily resolve these situations. It's important to note that the Roomba i3 Evo 3550 falls on the higher end of the price range compared to other robotic vacuum models. However, its advanced features and self-emptying capability justify the investment for those seeking a more automated cleaning solution. One minor drawback is the limited bin capacity of the Clean Base, which may require more frequent emptying for larger cleaning tasks. However, for routine maintenance, the self-emptying feature provides a significant advantage. In conclusion, the iRobot Roomba i3 Evo 3550 offers efficient cleaning performance with its adaptive navigation system and powerful suction capabilities. Its Wi-Fi connectivity, self-emptying feature, and compatibility with voice assistants provide added convenience for a hands-free cleaning experience. Although it comes with a higher price tag and may encounter occasional obstacles, it remains a reliable choice for those looking to simplify their cleaning routine.
