Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the sturdiness and adjustability of the Multi-Angle 4K Docking Stand. They appreciate that it can hold their laptops securely and provides multiple angles for comfortable use. The compatibility with various devices, including MacBooks, is also well-received. While some customers have concerns about the ports occupying both available USB-C ports, the overall sentiment is positive.

Got this for my laptop to use with a dual monitor setup. It’s just what I needed and I love that it comes with a hub which includes 4K HDMI, 2 USB-C ports (1 host, 1 power delivery up to 100W), and 2 USB-A ports. Very durable and quality build

Verdict: This j5create stand features exceptional build quality, with a beautiful and functional design. While I wish it included one more USB-C port, the hub adds a “docking station” feel and increases functionality for a laptop. The stand is a great choice to gain space on a small desk, to use as a stand-up desk, or to provide more laptop typing and viewing angles. First impressions. It is somewhat heavy. It is very heavy duty! It’s not going to break, for sure! It has anti-slip padding at the bottom. The pivot points on the stand are quite stiff and hard to manipulate, but that is a good feature because once you find the optimal setup on the stand, it will not fold over time. The color is quite nice, and matches well with some laptop colors. There are some openings on the main platform to support laptop cooling. The connection hub fits magnetically between the bottom pivots. It comes with a nice USB-C cable. The stand is really well designed. Stand. The stand is very well built. It is very sturdy and will hold its position. It is great to make the most out of a small desk by elevating the laptop out of the way. Once the laptop Is elevated, you can use a USB-A keyboard (connected to the hub) that you can easily move out of the way, or you can stand up and type on your laptop as if you had a standup desk. You can also easily shift the angle for the keyboard and the monitor to suit different needs. Connection Hub. The connection hub fits nicely between the two bottom pivots. It also feels like it sticks there magnetically, which is a nice touch. The HDMI port allows for 4k resolution. If the laptop is powered directly, the hub adds one USB-C port to your laptop after using the other USB-C to connect to the laptop. The hub can passthrough power to your laptop, but in this configuration, you will not gain a USB-C port to your laptop setup per se. However, if you are already using a USB-C port on your laptop for an external monitor, then you can gain back a USB-C port by moving your monitor to the hub. The passthrough setup is really nice if you have a spare charging cable that you can dedicate to the hub, essentially turning the j5create stand into a docking station of sorts: you can leave your monitor, power cable, and USB-A peripherals (like a full-size keyboard) connected, and just unplug one USB-C to take the laptop on the go. To be clear, the passthrough setup can power your laptop as well as connect your monitor using just one USB-C cable. Things I love. - Heavy duty build - Flexible positioning - Does not lose its position easily - Non-slip padding at the bottom - Dedicated space for the hub - Pass through charging that also allows a monitor connection through a single USB-C - 4k HDMI port Things I don’t love. - One more USB-C port on the hub would be optimal Overall, this is a fantastic stand with a practical hub. We were looking for one of these to gain space on a desk… we were not counting on the hub, but it turns out that the hub is a really nice and powerful addition since we use an external monitor. With the convenient passthrough option, we turned the stand into a functional workstation. We highly recommend this stand.

What a great docking stand. It fits my MacBook pro perfectly. It comes with a docking station so you can plug your computer in to charge, other devices that have a usb, usb-c and HDMI connection. It was very simple and easy to connect the docking hub (if that's what it is called). It slides right in. If you have usb-c hub to connect to the side, it works perfectly with that too. I really like that the adjustment is stiff so that it does not move on its own. It does make it slightly difficult to move and adjust the stand, but I believe that was the intention so that it would not just move or slide around on its own when your laptop is on top. It also has a rubber type pad to make sure that when you angle your laptop at different angles, you don't have to worry about it sliding off. It sits comfortably on my lap too and I love how I can adjust the height so its comfortable when I'm typing on my lap. I have a desk that can adjust to a standing height, so I can place this on top of it while standing so that my laptop sits higher. When I am doing crafty projects using my laptop to print things, this is much more comfortable to look at the screen. Even when I'm sitting I can place my laptop on top so I can read at a comfortable position so my neck is not straining. This is a great docking stand.

I've never had much interest in laptop stands until I recently purchased the latest gen MacBook Pro, which has such a great display that it felt like a crime to keep it in clamshell mode when I'm at my desk. My desk is not huge and I didn't really want to add anything else to it that was going to take up space. I thought I'd give it a shot and maybe use it every now and then with my laptop to appreciate having two screens at my desk, but also as an iPad stand for when I'm watching something and want to elevate the iPad to avoid neck strain. Well, after a week or so with the J5 I'm using it all-day every day with my laptop when I'm at my desk. I love it! I even like having it there for when my laptop is in clamshell mode and I don't need/want two screens in front of me. Because of the touch ID button on the MacBook Pro, having my laptop on the stand keeps it within easy arm's reach for when I need my fingerprint to verify a password or purchase. So, I'm very happy with this and feel like I have gained more functionality than I've lost in terms of desk space. As for the stand itself, this thing is a tank. The base is about the size of an 11 inch iPad for reference, and while it would be nice if that was a little smaller, the tradeoff is just how sturdy this stand is in any and every angle. The hinge is tight. So much so, I don't think you're moving the stand to a new angle without using two hands. Not happening. At least not for me. So, if you plan to plop it on your desk and anchor it there then you will be very happy. If you plan to change angles three or four times a day then you may want to look elsewhere. Your wrists will probably be sore at the end of the day. The plate that your device will rest on is padded with plenty of rubber to protect things and has two large holes and two cutaways to help airflow. There's a pretty big lip to help prevent things from falling off. I wouldn't mind if it were slightly shorter though. I can open the MacBook's lid when in clamshell mode without too much difficulty, but the lip of the stand for sure blocks the easiest access. Not a huge deal though, honestly. As for the dock, well I don't really need it but I have enjoyed having it. Not nearly as sturdy or as well constructed as the stand, I'm pretty sure this is made out of a mostly hollow aluminum enclosure and it feels like it. Very light. It has thin rubber feet which fit nicely into a pair of shallow divots on the stand... but if you're plugging and unplugging cables then it's pretty easy to move it out of place. It's also just in a place where while, yes, it's out of the way, it's maybe not the most convenient place to reach. Instead, I've just been putting the dock on my deck and it actually works quite well at keeping my HDMI and USB-C cables from slipping off the desk when they're not being used. No issues with any of the ports. Passthrough charging works fine and I'm getting 4k 30hz on my monitor over HDMI. All in all this has been a pleasant surprise and an accessory that will be a mainstay of my desk for the forseeable future. Thumbs up!

j5create’s 4k multi-angle docking station is a solid stand. It’s strong, sturdy and made from excellent materials. The matching hub is a nice addition, but ultimately the most disappointing piece of the kit. That said, for the price it’s hard to argue. Inside the box you’ll find the star of the show, the multi-angled stand. This ergonomic stand is ideal in scenarios you want to use a laptop monitor as a second display in a docked scenario. In this case, the stand gives you a ton of flexibility and strength. Even with a heavy 7lb laptop, the stand is sturdy, doesn’t wiggle. j5create says it supports up to 9lbs, but I’m sure it could handle more if needed (while there are few laptops that go into double digits, it might be helpful to know). The stand has two very stiff hinges that allow freedom of movement to put the laptop at a few different angles. The stiffness is important to prevent the laptop from moving. The stand is made of aluminum that will blend in well with a space gray Mac or look professional in any setting. The stand’s architecture gives the laptop plenty of room to breathe. There are two anti-slip pads that add a bit of height as well and keep the laptop in place. Cooling, especially in workstation or gaming laptops is extremely important, so it’s good to see a stand with plenty of cut outs without sacrificing stability. The dock is by far the most disappointing. You get essentially an HDMI port and 2 USB ports for a USB-C 5Gbps. The USB passthrough for PD does support up to 100w, but there is no adapter included. Functionally, it works, but 2 USB ports is limiting. The HDMI port requires DP-alt from the device, which these days isn’t too bad of a requirement. However, the HDMI standard in use is 1.4. You get 4k, but only 30Hz and no HDR. 1440p can be driven at 60Hz (standard for office productivity use), and 1080p can operate at 120Hz for gaming, but those are your upper limits. If you’re sporting a HDMI 2.1 capable 4k 120Hz display, you’re going to want to supplement the dock with Thunderbolt 4 or a 10Gbps dock with HDMI 2.0 to at least get 4k 60Hz. A nice touch however is that the dock’s rubber feet fit perfectly into grooves in the stand effectively securing it to the dock. Overall for the asking price, this stand/dock is solid in construction and includes a dock that will work for most people (but certainly not power users). If you’re using a 1080p or 1440p monitor, you’re probably set. It would have been nice to see a full 10Gbps with 4k 60, but again, the dock is really hitting the needs of the 80% out there at a price point under $100. If you’re a power user, I’d recommend the stand (which is found separately from j5create) and perhaps a higher end dock that meets your needs.

Excellent for expanding space and ports

Having switched over recently from an iMac to a MacBook Pro, I noticed that I missed having that desktop feel. Enter the j5create laptop stand. With a very solid metal build, it doesn’t come off as flimsy at all useful in many different positions. It also has soft rubber grips on the stand, allowing for the computer to remain in place even at high angles. It allows me to change heights with ease, and not feel like the product is going to break at any time. The port expanding box that fits neatly underneath the stand allows me to use older products with a USB-A port; something that you cannot do on a MacBook Pro. It also offers an extra HDMI port so that I can expand my monitoring capabilities. Lastly it has a pass through USB-C port so you don’t lose the original port you plug into. Probably one of the most underrated aspects of the stand is the fact that it folds up into a very small portable form factor which allows me to stick this in a book bag and take it anywhere just in case I feel like I might need more space in school or at a coffee shop. In conclusion, if you’re looking for a well-made stand that offers port expansions for older devices as well as extra monitoring capabilities in a very slim form factor, but sturdily built this is the product you should buy hands-down.

So out the box this thing is weighty. Picking it up you can tell that this is a well made product and could probably handle a lot. And after looking at the instructions, which in my opinion was not much help, set up was pretty straight forward. You will notice that maneuvering the stand into the position you want takes a little effort. People with weaker hands, i.e. arthritis, might find this a bit of a challenge but it does definitely makes the stand solid once put in the desired position. While in the upright position, I would put my palm on the laptop to type and there was no movement on the stand. I felt comfortable to rest my hands on the laptop and not worry that the stand would collapse. The stand itself has a cutout in the middle which I assume would help with circulation to keep the laptop cool but i'm not sure how much help it actually is. The docking station is connected using a usb-c cable which might not work for some older laptops. My station has an hdmi input for 4k and 2 usb 5.0 gbs and 1 usb-c power. Pretty much enough for most people's needs. Didn't know I would like this that much.

The Perfect Docking Stand and Ports for MacBook

The j5create Multi-Angle 4K Docking Stand is a great addition to my MacBook Pro. The heavy-duty stand provides firm support for my laptop and has large rubber pads on the bottom to protect my desk and prevent movement. I appreciate how the dock sits on the bottom brace in the middle instead of dangling off to one side of the laptop. The dock can face forward or backward. The ports give me connections for my 4K 27" monitor, external keyboard, and external trackball. It folds up compactly for placement in my backpack. Everything about the j5create Docking Stand is high quality. It is far better than the plastic fold-up stand and the port expander I used before. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to add some class to their MacBook. Features - Sturdy aluminum construction - Adjustable for multiple angles and height - Rubber foot pads to protect desktop and prevent slippage - USB-C mini port dock - 4K HDMI port - 3 USB 5Gbps ports - 1 USB-C 3.2 host cable - Folds up to a compact size

Great, compact stand and hub solution

A great stand with a decent hub. I admittedly sprung for this primarily for the stand. It’s nice to elevate a laptop when using it as a second screen in a desktop setting, and this does that well. The hub completes the convenience, even if it doesn't provide that many connections. Build Quality: The stand itself is very solid, with silicone pads everywhere it needs them to protect both the desk surface and laptop surfaces/edges. With any stand, the quality of the hinge is important… you don’t want it to loosen with time or slump at the slightest touch. j5create’s stand is great, the hinges are solid and allows laptop positioning from low to surprisingly very elevated. I’m confident it won’t budge unless I intentionally adjust it myself. It’s machined out of aluminum and has a quality feel. While it’s slightly darker in its finish than my ‘silver’ MacBook Pro, they look good together. The hub is made of plastic, but matches the look and finish fairly well. Hub: The hub nicely sits within the frame of the stand. It’s out of the way and you hardly notice it. It’s important to note, however, that both USB-C ports are used up as soon as you connect to power with one slot and connect to your laptop with the other. That leaves you with 2 USB-A ports for accessories, external hard drives, etc, as well as an HDMI for a connected monitor. That’s not a lot, but it’s appropriate enough for ports that aren’t really positioned to be fiddled with often. For example, had this had an SD slot, it would be quite hard to locate without shifting the whole thing around. A dongle could help make a more convenient solution for accessing a common port. I see the hub as primarily preventing you from having to insert a bunch of thick cables (looking at you, HDMI) and have them sticking out of your laptop every time you sit down. Instead you get on simple USB-C to plug in for both power and connections. Powering is provided by your own charging supply/brick, no charger is included here, with power passthrough only. Something things I don’t like: Beyond the limited ports after connecting your power and primary laptop connections, the stand is also missing a notch to allow you to easily open the lid on computer. You’ll have to pick it up, open, and then set back down. Recap: GOOD STUFF: - Strong hinges don’t budge under load. - Quality aluminum construction with silicone pads to protect surfaces - Collapses for portability, or for setting aside while not in use. - Well positioned hub is removable, but stays in place and storable within the stand itself when it’s closed. LESS EXCITING STUFF: - Main connections use up both available USB-C ports. - Stand blocks laptop finger-slots if screen is closed. Support ledge not notched to allow access. Overall, this is a great stand/hub combo. It's build quality and ease of use make up for the small nits I had.

    Robust Stand Great Solution

This is probably the most robust piece ive ever had. Built like a tank. The finish of it matches my macbook pro space gray finish perfectly. It has nice rubber pads on the contact portions of the stand metal so that you don't scratch your computer when you move it to and from the stand. The joints on it are extremely stiff so wherever you set it, it holds, period. Overall feels extremely high quality.  The hub included does the job and includes two usb A ports (5Gbps) one usb-c (5Gbps) and an HDMI 4k 60 capable. Includes the cable to connect to your laptop (usb-c) which is nice. If you're looking to split into two monitors you can do one hdmi and one with the other USB-c port to hdmi or displayport conversion cable of your choice if that's your thing. The USB portion (dock) itself is completely removable and usable on its own if you need to bring it somewhere without the stand otherwise it essentially locks into place on the stand with rubber feet into cutouts of the metal.  Honestly if you want to put this in your bag you actually could because it folds up thin enough to however it's probably best to just set this up and use it at home on your desk and it works perfect in that use case. For me I use a 27" monitor as main and the laptop display as secondary and the fact you can adjust this stand so much makes it very nice to combo with your home setup. The only thing i would keep in mind is the stand doesnt allow you to open the lid of your laptop well so its much easier to set it down with the lid open already.

The j5 create 4-way docking stand is the best laptop stand I have seen lately. The last time I went shopping for another laptop stand at a retail location I could not even find one I liked. None of them had any connections available or a docking stand. I really like the hinged adjustable stand that j5 has created here. I have a very old Radioshack one that is plastic and it has power in and out features but is not adjustable and is USB 2 only. I still use it but this j5 create is a great improvement and the dock is removable. I do kind of wish the dock stayed on it better. Some rubber feet just sit down in the dock and it can come out when adjusting it sometimes. The raised rubber feet are well done on the part where the laptop sits and also underneath. It is made of very strong metal with strong-feeling hinges at two joints. The docking station is also very good. I hooked up an Anker 25-watt charger to it and it fast charges my Galaxy phone through the USB-C 3.2 out port. Not only that it has two USB-C 3.2 type A ports and I charge my Bluetooth headset with one of those. So I have one left and then the HDMI 2.0 port which puts out 4k to one screen. The USB-C out will support 4k as well but if you hook up two monitors it will only do 1080p. Also, your laptop must have DisplayPort alt mode with MST support. Which means you need a graphics card that supports DisplayPort 1.2 built into your laptop. So the dock is packed full of features but does have some technical limits and you need to have a laptop with at least DisplayPort 1.2 but you can have 1.4 since it is backward compatible. The USB-C port also has a 100-watt passthrough which should charge most equipment including laptops. This unit packs quite a punch but they do make standalone docks that support two 4k screens. However, if you are a gamer with two 1080P screens you can take your gaming computer with you no problem if you have a good enough Gaming laptop it can replace your desktop with the right graphics card these days up to a point. Whatever you are trying to do this adjustable stand with the dock can be used as powered or just for data or both. There are so many options here it can be quite overwhelming. Just know that you can get it and do just about everything accept run two 4k screens. I am not sure that any laptop graphics card and very few desktop ones can do that anyway. You can just get it and then do your research to set it up for what you are trying to do. That is unless you already know all of that stuff. I doubt you can find a better setup. By the way it will hold a 17” laptop as long as it is a newer trimmed down one. Maybe they could make one that is a little bigger and have two versions. I would definitely recommend it because it is nice to be able to do so much from one unit!

I have used this stand for iPads, 13" laptops, Macbooks, 15.6" external monitors in horizontal orientation, and even for stabilization of a large video conferencing system temporarily and it did the job adequately for all uses. I like the various height and viewing angle options this stand provides and I have not yet felt the equipment wasn't secure. The accompanying dock and USB-C cable is small enough to throw in a backpack or laptop bag for mobile purposes. I would have liked to have seen a 3.5 mm audio output on the dock but that's not enough to knock this product down a star. Additionally of note when using USB-C passthrough charging it seems to charge the device about 50% slower than direct charging to the device, at least that has been my experience with iPad Pro 11". Overall I like this product and plan on keeping it. Do keep in mind though that this comes in several variations at different price points: #1. Multi-Angle Stand Only, #2 This configuration with 4K Docking Stand. #3. Another configuration with an expanded dock. You may want to check out all three to see which is preferred.

j5create - Multi-Angle 4K Docking Stand - Silver Summary: A great, functional, and svelte docking stand. Pros: * Great aesthetics. This stand looks sleek and modern. * Functional multi-angle adjustments allow maximum flexibility. * Perfect stiffness in the joints to maintain the configured posture. * Dock provides adequate connections. * The lip provides additional use for devices like tablets and books. * Great value. The overall quality and functionality make this a great buy. * Includes a USB-C cable. Cons: * No cons on this device. Wishlist/Suggestions: * I wish the dock and the stand were held together via magnets it would allow for a more secure placement. Without it, stiff cables can "pop" the dock off of the stand since its only held together by indententions in the stand and the feet of the dock. * An option to purchase a powersupply would have been great, but given that PS can vary by output, I can understand why this isn't offered. * I would love an expansion port module that could rest in the open space of the stand. I could definitely use more ports and an expansion module would complete the functionality/ look of this product. Why? Because I have a personal gaming laptop (pictures in the background) I'd like to replace my desktop and more ports would allow me to do that. This stand would give me easy access to everything and allow me to pluck my laptop when I need to go mobile. Use: I have a hybrid work scenario. On days that I work from home, I just plop this guy on the stand and plug in the USB-C cable and get to work. I've tried a few different form factors of both docks and stands, and this combines the best of them (even if it is at a port disadvantage). I'd definitley recommend this product if you don't need more than a single 4K HDMI and 2 USB SS ports. Even so, you can always attach another dock/port replicator to one of the USB ports and meet your needs this way.

I remember when I used to buy the expensive manufacturer docking stands for my laptops. They worked great with that specific laptop but often couldn’t be used for another model or manufacturer. Then they became a paperweight. Plus they weren’t bendable. Now we have this handy docking stand. It is very sturdy and weighs only a couple of pounds. It is also very easy to move this stand around. I tried it with all of my laptops and it even holds the 17” securely. The nonslip lip at the bottom of the stand is about ¾” so you want to make sure your laptop isn’t very thick. The non-powered USB-C mini dock is very useful and can be positioned at the back of the docking stand to keep the cords out of the way. Features include 2 USB-A ports (3.2), 4K HDMI (2.0) and a USB-C (3.2) port that supports a 5Gbps data transfer rate and up to 100W pass-through charging. DisplayPort v1.2 required on graphics card to support 4K resolution @ 30 Hz. (not very suitable for gaming). With the adjustable height and angle you can customize for your most comfortable viewing position. Airflow is also excellent since there are openings in the stand design. Very handy docking stand and highly recommended.

Very good stand and docking station. The stand is sturdy, and doesn’t take up much space. The small docking station fits perfectly in the stand. Makes it easy to dock and go, allowing me to take my computer with to classes and then dock it for study.

I use this for my Macbook when I need to do schoolwork and as a second monitor for my Twitch chat. The size is perfect, and I have moved it so I can set one of my desk speakers underneath alongside some trinkets of mine. I happened to come across this one day while looking at other items and couldn’t pass it up. Zero complaints!!

This is a flexible but firm laptop stand. It is intelligently made so one may position it in any way best fit to your personal needs. The laptop holder won’t slip down and it has an attachment with multiple ports.

Love this stand! Great quality. Very sleek. The only issue I have is that the docking station doesn’t put out 4k :/

Very Sturdy, small enough to move around or carry in a bag. Fits most laptops. Definitely recommend.
