I bought this adapter because I needed a 3rd monitor. I received this adapter in January '14 and right out of the box I installed the driver first from the CD and I had already gone online to get the driver update and updated the driver (read to do this at a forum) I plugged in my monitor to the card and to the 3.0 USB port on my Dell 15R Win7Pro laptop and it has been working flawlessly since. Looking back I wish I would have bought the JUA370 because it has an Ethernet connection and a 3.0 USB port that I could use. But otherwise I am very happy with the J5 Create JUA350 adapter and I would recommend this high quality device to anyone.

We needed to connect a separate monitor to out VR rig at the office. The laptop did not have a secomd HDMI port. So this adapter really saved us. The image displayed on the screen was very clear and stable even though we were running through a USB 3.0 hub. I would recommend this product.

    I can game on mine!

I can game on mine, no lag as a 3rd monitor to do surround in World of Tanks (WoT). I have a Lenovo Y510P with 2 GeForce 750m cards, and the laptop has 1 HDMI and 1 VGA port, both go to my Samsung T27B350 TV/Monitors running at 1080p@60. I have a Desktop that I actually run 6 of those Samsung monitors with 2 video cards. Since I choose to rebuild my Desktop, I have been using my laptop in the meanwhile. I wanted to use 3 monitors so I could game with peripheral vision, since World of Tanks supports 120' FOV. While my center and right monitors are handled by the laptop video ports, I was short 1 port to do 3 displays. I initially used a KWorld USB2-2-DVI, and that even worked, but there was noticeable lag. Since I only use about 1/3 of the side monitor, this was possible. If I tried to use the entire screen, this might have been bad, but for my purposes and this game, it was acceptable. Since I saw they released USB3-2-DVI, I figure it could only be faster. they were right, now using 1/3 of my left side monitor, and there is almost no lag, I would have to be looking for it to even notice. It works perfect, so this will work in place of the Matrox TripleHead2Go I was looking at. I will try to see how it handles full screen, but for a partial screen, WoT in 1080p is fine. Hope this helps out someone who is trying to decide if this will work, I think if you wanted to watch full screen videos at 1080p@60 this would handle that no problem at all. David

Good for streaming media to a TV while traveling

While traveling, my wife and I normally stay at resorts or condos that usually have access to a wireless network and TVs with HDMI inputs. Devices like Chromecast and Roku don't usually work, because the resort's "secondary sign-in" required to access the resort's wireless network prevents these devices from connecting to the network. However, the "j5 create" does work, because you're not actually "casting" from the network to the TV. We simply plug the "j5 create" adaptor into one of the USB ports on our laptop, and connect it (via a standard HDMI cable) to an available HDMI input on the TV. We're then able to stream NetFlix and other media to our laptop, which simultaneously sends the audio and video to the TV. It works rather well. Occasionally, a few words of the audio will get garbled; however, I believe that's more a function of the capacity and speed of the resort''s wireless network. I did not notice this when I tried out the device on the high-speed wireless network in our home.

Great option for adding an additional monitor...

I bought this so I could run an external monitor with my 2011 Apple MacBook Pro. I usually use the thunderbolt to HDMI converter, but my new external sound card for music production uses thunderbolt. Since my computer only has 1 thunderbolt port I have 2 options for an external monitor---1) Buy a much more expensive (4x) thunderbolt dock, or 2) buy this USB-to-HDMI adapter. The adapter works fine, but there is noticeable lag at times compared to using the thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. Since my computer only has 1 thunderbolt port and no HDMI port this isn't a bad solution, but it isn't ideal. I still think it is a good product overall, or at least a good concept. I just wish it was on par with the thunderbolt adapter, but as you probably know thunderbolt data transfer is way faster than USB 2.0 and 3.0.

Excellent Adapter For An Extra Monitor

This device is excellent. It comes with an adapter for DVI to HDMI, or HDMI can be used directly. The product allows for 1080p (and above if I recall correctly) with an unnoticeable lag between computer input and monitor output. This is very nice as there is generally a significant lag between typing and the monitor showing what you have typed (looking at you Tritton Adapters). The only issue I had was the driver compatibility based on the driver that comes in the box. If you are using Mac OSX do not plug in the adapter unless you download the proper driver from the manufacturer website. Without the proper driver, this device will crash your Mac repeatedly, while plugged in, until you get the proper driver.

I went in the store not completely sure what to grab or what cord would fit my computer. The sales associate led me to this and it works great! I picture is clear and not only does it connect to my computer but in the event I had another one it would still work because most cords have a USB port nowadays so I would still be in business. I do wish that it had an AUX cord connected already for sound but I just grabbed one I had handy and my family and I watched a movie from the computer. I would recommend it.

When the HDMI port on my laptop stopped working, I bought this and it works well. DVD video works perfectly. Full HD video might tax this adapter, but it does work. I also have the USB2-to-VGA adapter from j5 which uses the same drivers. The drivers are kept up-to-date and work great.

After getting frustrated with this adapter last night because it was not working despite following the instructions, I decided to try reinstalling the driver today. My hunch was that the driver did not install correctly last night because of an issue with the instructions. Specifically, the install guide states that after the install completes you need to go into the Security and Privacy setting and click 'Open All' to essentially accept the code's digital signature and allow it to run. My guess was that by accepting this signature after the installer tried to update the pre-boot settings did not allow the driver to properly install. That would also explain why the device did not appear to do anything last night when I tried it. The screen would just remain blank and never received a signal. However, after reinstalling the driver, the device is working great! I haven't tried any videos yet, but scrolling is smooth and text entry is no different than a regular HDMI output. Your mileage may vary though depending on the processor. I'm running a Core i7 from Mid-2014 with 16GB of RAM, so that may help. Overall, if you run into an issue with the install where you're just getting a blank screen on a Mac, try installing the driver again after you accept the digital signature (by clicking 'Allow') in the Settings --> Security & Privacy menu. It worked for me, and will most likely work for you too! Definitely a much cheaper option than buying a new Mac too!

I was a little skeptical, not having used one of these before, but to my surprise, the picture quality was excellent. If you have a USB 3.0 port and want a good clean HDMI or DVI port, I would recommend giving this a try.

it works although it is annoying to have to write 50 words every time whether you want it or not, which is pushing me to never get involved in trying to comment about a product whether small or big; good or bad; pretty or ugly; practical or not; useful or useless; considering that if I give 5 stars to a small gizmo, it should be sufficient to believe that the stuff I am relating to is okay, not so bad, does it job and I am happy with it. Who ever designs those kinds of survey must have related to the Marquis de Sade, who by the way, was a decent writer considering the level of his mental health or lack thereof. Have a wonderfully exciting time reading those kinds of comments which should really be short, sweet and to the point.

Had an older, different brand USB 2 one for a few years, but it stopped working when upgrading from Windows 7 to 10. Gave up after trying to fix for 6 weeks or so. This one works great with no issues plus is smaller and doesn't warm up like the old one. Using as a 3rd screen with no issues over the last 2 months.
