Perfect tracking, keep an eye on the cap!

I've had the UP bracelet for a little over a week now and absolutely no problems. It's extremely accurate on the treadmill as far as calories burned, distance, and pace. I compared results to the machine I was on. I was also able to track my HIIT training. I run at 6 m.p.h. for 30 seconds and then turn it up to 8 m.p.h. for 1 minute. The band graphed this perfectly and there was a distinct difference in speed changes.
SLEEP. It also does an amazing job of tracking my sleep schedule. The bracelet and app work together wonderfully in this aspect. By collecting all my sleeping data throughout the week, its able to give me an average hours slept and offer insights on how I can hit my sleeping goal of 8 hours. I'm currently averaging 6 hrs and 59 mins.
ACTIVITY. It also does a superb job tracking your daily step count. After the week of tracking it was able to provide some insight for me. "A brisk 10 minute walk in the morning will help you burn more calories all day and increase your step average of 8,008 steps a day by about 14% - that's 7,980 more steps a week." It motivates you to help you hit your goals by showing you data from well... YOU!
THE APP. The UP app is flawless. It looks beautiful, works effectively and has many excellent features. You can set your "smart alarm", "nap alarm", "log workouts" and many others. The best feature about the app is the "Lifeline". It shows you a daily progress since the very first day you started. I'm looking forward to my friends getting the UP wristband so we can help each other hit our daily goals.
SIZE. I recommend going with a size bigger. I wear a large. I'm 5'9 roughly 175 lbs. My wrist size is roughly 7.5". I normally wear a rubber wristband on my dominate hand (R) anyways. So I took it off at best buy and measured the size of my band with the sizes on the "UP bands" This is a good size for me, I think it's better to be loose then super tight and uncomfortable. The idea is you don't want to notice it's there.
Downfalls:
No bluetooth support. It's not a big issue but it could be better. I don't have a problem taking the cap off and syncing the band twice a day. It's kind of become a focal point of my day to gauge what I need to do for the rest of the day.
The CAP! It's not attached! Somehow, I have managed not to lose this thing yet. I take care of my things and i'm very "OCD" in this sense, however I can see many people losing the cap left and right. If you are one of the people that lose your keys or personal items on a daily basis... plan on buying a sack of these things. So far the cap hasn't come off on it's own. Just make sure you're aware of where you set it down.
Waterproof. I have not tested this theory and I don't intend too. However, I have gotten it completely soaked a couple times on accident doing the dishes and its completely fine. I don't wear it in the shower either. Why? I just spent $130+ on an "electronic gadget", why would I purposely try to ruin it.
Overall------ 9/10
There's definitely room for improvement but the band does exactly what it says it does. It's the first of its kind to add fashion and personality to an activity tracker. I have people asking me everyday what i'm wearing on my wrist. It's fun to tell them and they are just as excited about it as I am! It truly does help improve your life and motivate you to hit YOUR goals. Great product.

Makes keeping track of steps and activity easy. doesn't get in the way during normal daytime activities, work, treadmill etc. A little hard to remove the cap to plug into cell phone and to charge, but for what we paid on sale,it;s a bargin. Overall 4 stars-difficult to set up,keeps a long charge-once a week, and a sleep mode.

Overall this product, UP 24, has been a really great way to motivate me to walk or jog daily. It doesn't seem to be real accurate on the number of steps (mileage) when running, but is very accurate in keeping track of steps when walking during the day. Plus, it is fun to track my sleep patterns at night. Setting goals keeps things lively and competitive. The big negative for me so far as been the inability to keep the cap on. I have already had to order through Amazon several caps. They seem to pop off and you just do not notice it until it is too late. Luckily, the caps are not expensive.

I ordered this unit because I broke the bands and shoe clip for the other brand I had bought a few months ago.
I am far more pleased with the Jawbone UP than I was with the Misift Flash.
I like how it vibrates/buzzes when I have been sitting still to long, reminding me to get up from my work and take a walk or stretch.
The sleep tracking is nice, and reminders have helped me to start getting enough sleep at night.
And tracking how many steps I take each day is a nice feature also. I use to use the built in Android app on my phone but I don't take it everywhere with me, the wrist band makes it easy to keep track.

I've been researching activity trackers for a while and when this one went on deal of the day I grabbed it. For me, I mainly wanted to track my sleep and steps which this does very well. Charges fast and lasts about 9 or 10 days. Plugging in for sync isn't a big deal for me but it would be nice to have the Bluetooth version for even easier syncing.

My wife wears the Up 24/7 and likes how it tracks walking for exercise ands sleep cycles. If we had not bought the Geek Squad protection I would be mad because we are now on the fourth one. The first two failed to charge after less than a year and the last one had the function button fall off. Since Best Buy keeps replacing it we are satisfied.

Not the latest device anymore and the best sensors inside (not even Bluetooth technology in it) but for the price on sale of $30 you can't ask for a lot more. If you want to track your sleep and steps and you don't want to spend tons of money, this is the device for you.

BestBuy had it on sale for $30, then I gave a try. Very easy to set up on the iphone, comfortable to wear, and battery life is great as well. The only thing I did not like was had to push for sleep function to act, I wish it will react automatic.

I purchased this by mistake. I meant to get the UP24 that syncs with Bluetooth so I was a bit disappointed to have to plug it in. I kept it for a day or so to see it I liked it. It tracks wonderfully and has a great sleep tracker and food tracking portion of the app. It does seem to be more accurate in the tracking than others I have tried. I did not like the way it felt on my wrist. It is heavy and clunky (I have small wrists) and after only a day it had already seemed to lose some of its shape and would not lay flat on my wrist. I ultimately ended up returning this item and going with another brand mainly due to comfort. It doesn't do me any good if I don't wear it because its not comfortable!

I've never tried any other product of its type. I don't care about the step count. Not sure whether it's accurate or not. All I can tell about this is that it works for me because I've started sleeping better. On the app you can see actual length of sleep, whether it was light sleep or deep sleep, how many times you woke up and how long it took you to fall asleep. App alson gives some hints about what to do to sleep better. With this information you can make your sleep more "efficient".
When it comes to wearing it during a day. Naahhh, not me. It bothers me too much. I wore it for a week and stopped. Only using it at night now.

The accuracy is great! I love the app and all the features. However, durability is the one issue. I'm on my third one in less than a year; they just stop charging when they die. Definitely get a service plan!

The Jawbone Up is often confused for newer products with wireless communication abilities, which leads to some hurt feelings when unboxing this tracker. I bought it knowing that it would need to plug in to my phone to upload its data and was fine with it- I use it mostly for sleep tracking and it has served its purpose well. The times that I have worn it doing physical activity (military training, obstacle courses, general outdoors fun) it hasn't fared very well. It has worked fine for things like running and walking though.
As long as you're not looking for something that instantly uploads or that will stick with you through a tough mudder, this is a solid tracker that comes down in price fairly regularly.

I purchased this product because it is one of the most cost effective ones out there right now and great to just give it a try. I got one for my wife because she had a lot of trouble sleeping and it has helped follow her sleep patterns and see how sleep patterns improve as different things are tried during the day. For example, working out in the morning or eating light in the evening and so forth. Just for following your sleeping patterns its worth buying. In regards to working out. This is ideal for someone that runs or walks primarily for excercise. If you do weights or other sports it will not necessarily track them as well but still does a good job. I'm not a runner and it has worked well following weight lifting and P90x as log as I log them in as what they are. Main thing is, I've read bad reviews. Just don't abuse the thing. Wipe it after use (sweat) and don't get it wet (don't shower with it just in case). That's what I've done and never had a problem with it.

UP by Jawbone is a great tool for those who wants to get a jump start on on their fitness by tracking activities, sleep, and even calories intake. For me just having the UP was more of a reason and motivation to do more activities and exercise, than wanting to track everything. It works great in helping one realize how much they've been active or not. I've also used Nike fuel band and I personally prefer UP for two reasons, one, it tracks sleep unlike the Fuel band, and secondly, it 's battery life with way better ( 10 days or more compared to 2-3 days with Fuel band). Also it comes with the more intutitive App for the iPhone that can help track calories intake. It doesn't sync over bluetooth or have a watch mode like the Fuel band however, those are the main reasons that it gets better battery life. I dont like the idea of having to take it off every so often becasue it really defeats the purpose of being able to track everything. I also prefer the way it syncs through the iPhone's headphone jack which is definitely faster than the bluetooth sync.

I really enjoy this device. I wear it nearly constantly to count my steps and track my sleep. The app used with it is beautifully conceived and easy to use. The only minor issue that I have with the wristband is that sometimes my sync fails if I haven't restarted my (Droid) phone in a while. Restarting the phone and holding the phone and band very still usually takes care of that. I love the smart alarm function (it wakes you from light sleep up to 20 minutes before your alarm), but what I love even more about it is that I can change the window so I can make sure that I won't be up before a certain time (this is especially important to me on work nights). Also customizable are your goals: you can set a sleep goal for any amount of time you want, and you can set your steps goal to more or less than the typically-recommended 10,000 -- a great feature for those who are just starting out on their fitness journey! The only minor drawback I see is that you don't get immediate feedback; instead you have to plug in the band to your phone or iPod and sync it to see how many steps, etc. you have reached. But overall, a fantastic device. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to track their fitness levels and sleep.

The step tracker is pretty good - doesn't work well on an elliptical machine, but otherwise seems to be doing a good job. The sleep tracker sometimes gives weird results but it's usually reliable. However from what (little) I've read so far, I haven't seen a clear connection between the positive REM and deep sleep, and the sound sleep that the UP measures. So I'm not certain that more "sound sleep" is always a good thing.... Anyway it's still fun and was really good value

I was able to pick this up on sale at BB for $30. At that price point this is a superior device. The main drawback is that it does not have bluetooth so you have to manually plug it in to obtain info. Not deal breaker but definitely not as convenient as the newer model. But that one sell for $100 more. This definitely makes me want to upgrade to one with more features. I would love it to sync with MY FITNESS PAL app. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase :)

Well designed band and smartphone app. It's accurate and provides relevant information. It would be the perfect band except it's missing Bluetooth synch. I understand this is the first generation of UP, with no BT capability, but after using it for several times it gets cumbersome to plug it to my smartphone to sync. Better get a newer model.
