Found this title by accident, and what a great find. Astonishing tale of a man centuries old, his experiences and constant struggle to survive in a society in which he does not age!

It is a great story that is thought provoking, well acted and directed.

This film, a low budget science fiction film, may very well be one of the best science fiction films of the past 10 years. This film is intense. It provokes thought in such a way and belongs up there will films such as 2001; A Space Odyssey, The Quiet Man, and any series, including Star Trek. Considering the writer of the script wrote some of Star Trek:OS most memorable episodes, it's little wonder that the movie manages to resonate so much. The story focuses on a professor who, at his going away party, reveals himself to be a cro-magnon over 14,000 years old. The score is understated, which is fine, because the material doesn't require a musical cue to tell you when to feel or think something. The material already has you. Combine great script writing with epic performances by John Billingsley, David Lee Smith and Tony Todd and you have one of the most riveting pieces of science fiction made in a long time.

I bought this film on a whim after seeing some of the cast and reading the synopsis, and was pleased as punch I did. I was not expecting it to be this good -- I was floored, both by the acting and the script. Oldman's story folded out perfectly, and his audience's reactions played out both sincerely and realistically. Highly recommend you purchase, especially if you're sick of big budget special effects movies completely lacking in plot. This has the kind of big idea they need, and no special effects are required. The truth is, fx would have taken more away from this film than they could have possibly added (flashback's would have ruined everything).

I have now seen this film several times and it holds up very well to repeated viewings; I get more out of it each time. As tense and exciting as the story is (even without one special effect or action sequence), it's also surprisingly funny, and very touching, especially in the end. It will have you talking, thinking, even arguing for days.

When I read the description on netflix (not always the best descriptions) I laughed thinking it was comical. But after seeing it, I was blown away. The performance of the actors, the thought put into the story and how carefully it is presented. Now one of my favorites. I recommend it completely.

A great movie and storyline which as the previous reviewer noted with no action or special affects takes place in one location and is just basically a movie about a conversation! But is intriguing and intense!!
