    The Microphone you're looking for

Unless you're trying to spend over $100, this is the mic you need. I use this as my discord and video mic and I don't think my voice can get much better. Setup was as simple as plugging it in, and the rest is handled by the OS. The cable included is USB C (Connects to the computer via Full-size USB) which is an awesome because it makes finding a backup cable easy if something ever happens to the included one. The back of the microphone has a LED ring for indicating status (blue for listening, red for muted). The build quality is also nice, it has aluminum for the main body and soft touch plastic on the back and front. The stand has very nice rubber feet that'll keep it in place, though unfortunately the stand doesn't adjust upwards but the mic pivits vertically to account for that. Overall If you're looking for a good, inexpensive, future-proof mic, this is what you need.

If you are looking to upgrade from your headset microphone or what is built in to your laptop, this is a great choice. "Plug & Play" is in the name and that is very accurate. I am mainly using it in Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings, as well as recording audio for training presentations and the increase in audio quality from my headset is drastic. I imagine true audiophiles probably have issues with something here, but for those of us seeking a better experience for $50 or less, this fits the bill nicely. Packaging is simple and clean; assembly is easy. The lighted glow on the base is a very nice touch (blue for normal/cardioid, green for omnidirectional, and red for mute). The microphone is very light, but the base feels extremely sturdy. For "cheap" microphones, I think this is one of the best ones aesthetically. My only recommendation to the manufacturer would be to include some sort of pouch or compact case to hold it all in for travel since it is advertised as the "GO" model.

For the price, this usb microphone is actually surprisingly good value. Had zero trouble connecting it to the computer, recording was crisp and sharp, and post editing made it possible to make this mic sound like top quality devices like my Shure mv7.

I stumbled upon the mic while walking around the store and said, for $50, its worth a shot. The mic could be a little too good and mic up sounds outside but colored ring makes it easy to know when I am muted or not. I will agree with others, the mic button being on the bottom is not a great location but since it works with my stream deck, I utilize that mute switch instead.

I'm coming from using a few different headsets from over the years in my exploits of playing Multiplayer games on PC. I've used headsets from Kingston, Sennheiser and even a set of V-Moda's. Moving away from a headset to a dedicated mic and headphones is such a great change. In the week or so I've been using this mic, just with the included tripod, I've had nothing but a positive experience. I didn't really have any complaints using the headsets though, but using an actual mic definitely makes a big difference. It's good sized mic and the tripod is pretty nice. I wish it was a bit taller, but it gets the job done till I decied to put it on a boom. I've supplemented a Pair of Sennheiser HD 595's for my headphones to bring them out of retirement. Pro's! I like that it connects via USB A to Type-C instead of making use of the typical micro-USB cable. It's a nice that they also include a mute button. This seems to be pretty uncommon on the majority of dedicate mic's, especially when you're looking at mics under $100. The included headset port with volume adjustment to control how much of yourself you hear. You could also run your headphones off it, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than monitoring yourself before a stream. The mic is pretty light but it definitely doesn't sound cheap. There's also a LED ring around the base and around the mute/function button. The mute/function button using a long press toggles between Cardiod and Omni-Directional. There's also two indicators on the base of the mic that show which mode it's in. The Ring around the base also lights up in their respective colors for the two modes. Red is Mute, Green is Omni-Directional, and Blue is Cardiod. Cons! I can't really say I've got anything negative to say. I think it's best to just keep your expectations in check. This is only a $50 Mic and for the price, on a budget this is a really great proposition. This is obviously going to be a bar below a Blue, it's also not gonna be able to hold a candle to most over $100. The top tier model of the Talk series seems to have pretty good reviews and improves upon what already makes the Go a great value. For those on a budget, I'd most definitely recommend this Mic. If you have a higher budget, the Pro would also be a good choice.

The JLab Talk GO USB Microphone is a great product if you are looking a USB mic that is easy to install, use and add software. The Good! • The Set up for the JLab Talk GO is very simple. There is a tripod base that connects to a middle piece (for microphone mobility) and that screw into the side of the microphone. Now you are basically set up for using the JLab Talk GO . • The Microphone is pretty compact and lightweight, even when it is all put together. It fits nice just about anywhere because it has great grip rubber ends on each tripod arm. • Plug in the Cable provided to the USB C (microphone connection) and USB A into your computer. Then the JLab Talk GO will be on displaying one of 3 colors. • There are two basic modes that you can use with the JLab Talk GO. The Cardioid and Omni (there is also a mute mode) allow you to use them for how you are using the Microphone. The Cardioid mode (Blue) and works great to pick up the voice of an individual or sounds you are looking for at a small radius. The Omni mode (Green) really works better with a group talking into the Microphone or if you want to get ambient noise. Mute mode (Red) is the last mode you can you. With only 3 colors, this simplifies the use of this JLab Talk GO. I do want to add the Microphone is quite sensitive to picking other sounds. Like wind or ambient noise. • The bottom on the Microphone is at an angle so you can see how to use it. The end of the Microphone has the controls and colors that explain what is going on. At this point connect your USB-C into the JLab Talk GO (it is labeled) and the other end USB Type A into your computer. The microphone end will turn on. There are 3 colors: Green, Blue and Red. As stated above, the Microphone mode in Green is better for several persons talking into the Microphone. The ring of color will light up Green in this mode. The Blue color on the bottom is Cardioid and works best with one person speaking. To change modes simply touch/hold the middle button on the bottom of the Microphone, that will change colors to let you know what mode you are in. You can only go from Green to Blue or Blue to Green by touching that button. If you tap into Red mode you are in mute. From Red (mute) you can only go back the previous mode (or color). So if you were in Green mode and then Red mode, you could not go to Blue. You have to go back to Green mode and then you can change to Blue mode. I was frustrated at first but after you use it a couple of times, it is not an issue. • There is also a plug for the headphones, volume and colors Green and Blue modes. There are two pictures on the base of the microphone: the Blue shows the Cardioid symbol and the Green shows the Omni symbol. There is microphone picture of mute on the middle button that turns Red when on mute. The headphone plug in allows you to hear your voice and everything else the JLab Talk GO is able to pick up. There is a spin wheel volume control to adjust to your settings when listening. • The JLab Talk GO can be used in many different ways. The microphone can be used for your YouTube videos, POD casts, and recording a variety a things. I wanted to record my guitar through this Microphone. There are plenty of free software to use, just look online and find one that suites your needs. Two directional Pattern Modes: Cardioid (great for a single person recording) and Omni (great for a group of people recording). • When you are recording, talking into the Microphone, make sure the JLab Talk GO name is facing you. That way you can get the best recording in Cardioid mode. The not so Great? • I do want to say that the weight of the JLab Talk GO is very lightweight, almost fragile feeling. I had no breakage or problems in this area, it is just really light. The tripod is very solid though and counter balances the light parts. • Controls on the bottom of the microphone can be hard to use or see for some people. But I doubt it will cause any trouble, the colors are quite bright! • Doesn’t come with any recording software I could find. I looked for some software built into the computer but didn’t come up with any. That is not to say you won’t find some software, every computer is somewhat different. I really enjoy the quality, sound and size of the JLab Talk GO USB Microphone. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles (as some other microphones $$), but made with features you can use productively. It sounds great and will do well for those doing videos and/or music.

Video chatting, streaming, podcasting and more, the JLab Talk GO gives you ability to record quality audio for an amazing price. The mic feels really well built especially given the price. Using the mic is simple and straightforward on a pc or an iPad, it’s literally just plug and play. On the iPad Pro I use a USB to USB-C adapter and it immediately recognizes it. With the work at home craze going on this allows you to video chat with a set of headphones plugged in and not annoy the family! You and the person you’re talking to will notice a major difference from the built in mic on whatever device you’re using. Controls are on the bottom and once you use it a few times they fall right at hand.

JLAB TALK Go USB I discovered that my wonderful new MacBook Pro is a wonderful FaceTime/ Skype/Zoom conferencing tool, as long as you don’t mind occasional feedback* from its built-in microphone/speaker setup. While headphones are one solution, another is a USB microphone such as this JLAB Talk Go. You need to be OK with a cable across your desktop to connect the microphone to a USB input on your computer (or a port extender). If you are, you gain a very nice improvement in both controlling sound quality and direction management. [Feedback is that disturbing squeal that occurs when the sound from your speakers is fed back into the microphone and is re-amplified, getting louder and louder very quickly.] Getting some added distance between your microphone and speakers is all you need. The JLAB TALK Go USB is such a reasonably priced microphone, it is definitely worth testing it out in your environment. And it has so many other uses. It is a very professional looking piece of equipment with easy-to-understand controls and features. My family may turn into performers. SETUP: I am not even going to try to describe the setup other than the fact that it’s no more complicated than plugging into your computer USB port and making some sound setting changes. JLAB has a wonderful “How to Guide: Talk Go Microphone” on the JLAB Website or Youtube. I’ve rarely seen video instructions done better, and rather than pull out a magnifier for the enclosed pamphlet, the online USER MANUAL is a joy to use. The JLAB TALK Go has obvious, bright and colorful LEDs to let you know when you’ve selected Cardioid or Omnidirectional or MUTE. You won’t be unpleasantly surprised by what gets broadcast. SUMMARY: This is one of those no-brainer decisions. We will find other ways to use this nifty JLAB TALK Go microphone. It was designed by people who understand what the end-user needs and wants in a microphone. It sounds great, elevating our conference calls, podcasts, performances and other recordings to a higher level. We could spend much more, but this is definitely the place to start our experiments in capturing voice recordings.

I picked this up because I wanted a compact microphone to use making video content. I wanted a microphone that I could use for recording just myself speaking, as well as if I wanted to use it for interviewing someone without having to use a second microphone. This thing is compact and takes up very little desk space. It comes with a tripod base that you can use to make the microphone stand up as tall or as low as you need it. I usually leave it somewhere in the middle. The microphone has 3 different settings: Cardioid, Omni, and Mute. Cardioid, the blue image, means that the microphone is set for recording just a single person speaking in front of the mic. Omni, the green image, means that the microphone is now set to record 360 degree sound - so it's great for setting on a table and recording an interview. Mute, the red picture, is just what you think. The price point of this unit is also well below some of the other bigger desktop microphones, and so far, I haven't noticed a marked difference. The audio I record sounds crisp and is easy to understand when played back. I've also used this microphone on conference calls for work, and people have said it's about as clear sounding as a corded pair of earbuds are, without all the extra noised caused by moving around. I'm happy I picked this up - it works right out of the box with Windows or Mac. I've used it on my iMac and MacBook Air.

    My first microphone for podcasting

I’m relatively late into the making a podcast world, and have been hesitant on choosing a mic to record. I’ve tried using headsets but it was challenging hearing other people in the discussion. Enter the JLab Audio Talk Go, a great entry level mic for novices like me. I was amazed at the simplicity and quality that came with this mic. It’s literally a plug-and-play set up and decent quality for the price tag. Pros: -Setup. Just plug it in my computer and automatically the mic turned on. I use Windows 10 and the set up was minutes. -Two Directional Patterns: the Talk uses Cardioid and Omnidirectional. Cardioid is normally speaking into the mic. The Omni allows you to place the mic in the middle of our table set up and multiple people can participate in the recording. You no longer have to adjust the mic to whoever is talking. -build quality. It’s a hard plastic chassis on top of a tripod. It feels sturdy that I know it’s not going to break if it drops off the table. -Light wheel. At the bottom of the mic, the Talk Go emits three colors that indicate what pattern mode you are using. Blue means cardioid; Green is Omnidirectional; Red is mute. There is also a volume rocker, 3.5 jack and micro USB at the bottom for connection. Neutral. -Recording quality. My voice came out good, not muted and it did not pick up too much background noises. But my voice could’ve been more crisp. For regular podcasting I feel this works well. Cons: -Lacks accessories: the Talk Go is small enough you’d think it would’ve came with either a travel pouch or a windscreen. Just something to think about adding next time. Overall, really impressed with the Talk Go. Does the job for me and my growing podcast.

    Good Budget Mic

The JLAB Talk Go microphone is the budget entry for JLAB’s new Talk series (the Talk, and Talk Pro being the others). The Talk Go is a USB mic with a plug and play setup that’s easy to deploy quickly. The Talk Go is a condenser microphone with 2 condensers onboard (the upmarket versions in the lineup have 3). Features The Talk Go is a nice little mic setup. A USB A to C cable is provided to connect to your computer. It comes with a mini tripod for desktop use that uses a standard ¼-20” threaded mount (box and website say 5/8”, which is the thread connection from the tripod to the knuckle base). The tripod has little rubberized feet to keep it from slipping around, and the knuckle is easily tightened to hold the mic at an angle that suits you. The mic has a mute/directional type button, volume wheel, and 3.5mm out for headphones. The mic itself is very lightweight, so its easy to toss in a laptop bag without adding much mass. There isn’t a carrying case/bag so I’m going to save the foam from the box to make a little carrier. Performance Well I was happy to get to test out both directional modes this last week. I had a chance to go in to my lab space at my office to work with some coworkers on a project. I tossed the mic out for a conference call we had to jump on, and switched the mic over to omnidirectional. We had 4 of us in the lab - some standing right by the table and others well as several feet away – a good mix of distances. Had the party on the other end of the call rate the sound quality for this test. For the most part they said we came through sounding pretty good. The folks closer to the mic came through clearer, and the ones further away sounded a little echoey. They were described as sounding like they were talking on the phone in the work bathroom. They also said they could hear everything in the background – tools clanging, doors closing, etc. It didn’t detract from the quality, but the mic came across as pretty sensitive in that regard. Overall the call sounded better on their end compared to our normal conference call system we have in our conference rooms. I call into 6-10 hours of meetings every week, so I got to try out the mic in a work environment again. This time I had the mic set to the cardiod mode. Performance wise I found the mic to do quite well in this scenario. Using the 3.5mm out headset jack gives you sidetone functionality which is a really nice feature to have. I did come across some of the same issues as I found in omni mode. When I sat further back from the mic I started to sound like I was calling from a bathroom. However, if I was right up on the mic I was told I sounded like an NPR host – so excellent clarity I guess. The mic did pick up on other noises in the room – chair squeaking, dog borking, kids playing games in the other room. The mic is pretty sensitive, but I think I should be able to tweak some settings to clear out the background a bit. Overall the mic does a great job for all of my conference call duties, so I’m pretty happy with it. Downsides I unfortunately got some interference while using the mic on my first day with it. It showed up on recordings and was playing through the headphones I had attached to the mic. If I had the mic in a certain position on my desk I’d get a pulsing interference. I thought it was cross talk with my desktop speakers, or something to that effect. I moved everything around, unplugged everything (keyboard, speakers, space mouse, wireless mouse dongle, etc.), and eventually gave up and just moved the mic. I didn’t like where I had to put the mic, so I tried again to find the source of the interference. I found that with the stand removed the static lessened – so the stand was acting like a little antenna for it. I had a eureka moment when I saw my little Linksys Velop router spire. Moved the mic closer to it, pulsing got louder – further away it got quieter. I repositioned my router a bit (moved to 2’ away instead of 1.5’) and the interference ceased. I’m not sure if it was the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands from the router that were messing with it. Regardless these are common frequencies used in a household. The mic should not experience this much interference unless it’s not properly shielded. The opening in the mic for the USB C connector is pretty slim. I have 4 different USB C cables aside from this one, and only one of them fit. I would have to shave off some plastic from the other cables’ connectors to get them to fit. It’s nice that they used to USB C instead of micro-USB but having the opening so slim kinda sucks. Either way at least it’s a step in the right direction. Overall this is a pretty nice entry level mic. I’ve had some limited experience with other entry level mic setups (Blue Snowball), and I thought the Talk Go performed on pretty equal footing. It has a few nifty features over the others – headphone jack, volume control. Overall this is a good mic setup, and if you are just getting into streaming or need a mic for calls/work this won’t break the bank.

VERY easy to use and super quick to setup this USB mic. Buttons are simple to understand and are right under the actual microphone, including a big “Mute” button. The legs of the stand are “sticky” so I can decrease the footprint on my desk by just smooshing the tripod legs together. It has some options that lets it either pickup sound from all over (omni-directional), or only pick up sound from directly in front of it. I’ve been using it primarily for conference calls and web meetings because I don’t like wearing headphones all day. This mic lets me turn on my pc speakers to hear the call/meeting and use the mic for talking. If my speakers are too loud, there can definitely be some echo of the mic picking up the speaker audio, but I don’t need my speakers very loud for a typical conference call. I have not used this for podcasting/content creation, but I could see that it would be easy to use. I don’t pick up a lot of heavy “spitty” sounds with this mic like cheaper mics. Best recorded sound is when you are about 8-10 inches from the mic on the “direct” input method.

I use the microphone mostly for zoom calls. I had a headset that I was getting complaints about being too loud, and with this mic, everyone is now OK with me talking. So overall the audio quality is pretty good for all the conference calls being done these days. With that said, there are a couple of things that are a little odd. First, the controls to mute are at the bottom, and I would prefer that they are at the top so you can quickly see them. Second, there is an option to plug in headphones, and so on a PC, you need to make sure to change the audio out to another device if you don't use them. There is no software, which is good and also bad as you cannot easily adjust the output. Last, this is USB C to USB A, and I'd prefer USB c to USB c, but for compatibility this makes sense. Overall this is a basic microphone with good audio quality for meetings, so if you have issues with your PC mic (or don't have one) then I would recommend this. However, if your audio input works today there wouldn't be any reason to get this.

For me this is a great microphone at an affordable price and good looks. Working from home and being on conference calls with my Windows 10 PC has been a daily must, but this JLAB Audio Talk Go USB Microphone has made it a much better experience. I use this to ensure my outgoing voice is clear and legible to my recipients on the receiving end of my conversations. I sit on my phone and interview individuals and do web conference interviews from my laptop multiple times a day. The USB microphone is plug and play and works really well. My Windows 10 PC recognized it immediately upon plugin installation and I was up and running. Thank you JLAB for making it so easy on this front. The user controls for this microphone are easy and straightforward to use. Blue light for single person chatting, green light for group chat setting, and the red light is to mute the microphone instantly. The headphone jack on the back allows you to listen in on the audio that you're participating in which is great. When this microphone is plugged into your USB port all the audio defaults to this device so you have to be able to use the headphones to listen to your computer audio as well. I like the looks of this microphone. The tripod stand looks nice and works really well for stability. It's pretty straightforward on how to get it set up and I'm happy with the audio recording. I am by no means a professional when it comes to using a microphone device, but I hope that this can help me out with doing some YouTube type videos in the near future. It's a compact microphone, easy to pack and portable. The only downside I have had with it is getting familiar with where the buttons are without seeing them directly in front of me. When the microphone is setup and aimed at you for optimal speaking, the controls are housed on the rear of the microphone and out of view from the user. I only wish the controls were more visible to the user while I am utilizing the microphone so I don't have to fumble around with the microphone to pick it up or turn it. PRO: Nice looks Great audio recording Easy to setup CON: Buttons are in the back

All the laptops we have with their built in microphones never sound that great to whoever is on the receiving end so we decided to give the new Jlab TalkGo a try. Unboxing: The microphone comes in a nice retail box along with a stand, USB cable and quick start guide. Nothing else is really needed and it’s pretty much plug in play. The microphone is about the size of a coke can, “a little smaller” and pretty light. The included stand screws into the side of the microphone and is plenty sturdy. The microphone has all the controls on the bottom and includes a mute/select switch, volume wheel and a headphone jack. Using: This couldn’t be any easier to set up, all the systems we tried it on immediately recognized it and set it up. The audio quality while using is simply outstanding. Everyone said we were so clear they were amazed, and there’s simply no background noise at all. Now we tried this out with our HP AIO, HP, Acer and Lenovo laptops, Samsung phones “Note 10 and S20 Ultra”, and Samsung tablet, they all worked perfectly with it. For the HP laptop and Samsung phones we had to use a USB to USBC adapter but that worked perfectly, “we used the ones included with our Samsung phones”. The bottom center button is easy to tap to mute, and the volume control, when used, shows up in the microphone volume slider in Windows 10. We did have to connect a headset to the headset jack to use WhatsApp on our phones but everyone we spoke with said they could hear us perfectly and it was so much clearer than using any of the built in microphones of any of our devices. The control button on the bottom lets you switch between Omni / Uni-directional and the led around the bottom changes colors with the corresponding mode so you can always tell how it’s set or if it’s on mute. Final Thoughts: This new Jlab TalkGo microphone works extremely well, the voice quality it delivers compared to any of the built in microphones is so much better it’s amazing. Everyone we spoke to all stated how clear we were and there just wasn’t any type of background noise at all. The big plus is that it worked with everything we attached it to, including tablets and phones. The only negatives I could find is the placement of the controls, being on the bottom and not visible means you have to hunt and peck “till you get used to them”, being on the front where you could see them would maybe be better but then the microphone wouldn’t be nearly as streamlined. Overall if you are looking for a microphone to beef up your video conferencing and face time this would be one to get. The performance is simply outstanding and we couldn’t have asked for more.

Talk GO is a very good microphone for the price range. I do a lot of speech to text conversion work and the default mic on my PC or even the mic with my headphones was not doing a great job in the conversion and I had to correct a lot of text manually. This mic has proven it's worth. It is able to pick up my voice accurately and I hardly have to do any correction. It has improved my productivity a lot. In terms of the features, the mic has pretty much all the standard features for a mic in this price range. Here are key things that I noticed which are worth mentioning: 1. Two directional modes Cardioid vs Omni. These modes allow you to use this mic in two different settings. If you are the only one talking (e.g. streaming, recording or speech to text conversion as in my case), the Cardioid is the mode that you should choose. If you are in a group setting like a conference call, than you use Omni. The light at the bottom turns from Blue to Green. This gives a quick indication of which mode you are in. 2. Quick controls The button at the bottom allows you to quickly change from Cardioid to Omni mode and vice versa. It also allows you to quickly mute the microphone. The light at the bottom turns Red when it is muted. Some people might find the placement of this button awkward and probably have it on top would have made more sense. But as I use it mostly in the Cardioid mode, I have gotten use to the placement. 3. Easy Setup The mic is pretty much plug and play. There is no additional software required. The only thing that you might need to change once you plug it to your computer is the "Sound" settings of your computer. My windows 10 laptop automatically detected it and changed the sound settings as well. 4. Design The design of the mic looks very good. The light at the bottom is good addition which also serves the purpose of indicating which mode the mic is in. The included Tripod stand is good and once the mic is put on the stand it is pretty stable even on unstable surfaces like couches. Overall, I am very much pleased with this mic. It has all the features that I need and the price is very affordable. There are not many choices in this price range.
