It's well known that this film is not well regarded by most. I wouldn't disagree with any gripes most people have bestowed to this movie, my main complaint is that the story is pretty convoluted, but besides that I really enjoyed this, this is a beautiful Space Fantasy with great CG, and this 3D Blu-Ray does it justice, the 3D is very good with appropriate depth that adds to the experience, top notch sound and basic special features. If you have a 3D entertainment system and want to show off, I recommend this purchase. Wait for sale.

our origins can be our destruction

This movie takes the theory that humanity did not originate on earth (that our DNA hopped a ride on the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs) and runs with it- in the kind of broad and epic scope you would only expect from the people behind the worlds of The Matrix and Cloud Atlas (the movie). In short, it's about one woman who's DNA is an exact match to someone who once owned the planet Earth, and the three siblings who are trying to manipulate her when she is brought out into the universe that she can barely comprehend.

I was (mistakenly) told that this movie was part of the "Divergent" series, So I picked it up as a gift. When we I gave it too it's intended recipient. I was informed that I was mistaken, (Serves me right for listening to an 8 year old). After the movie started I got "SHHHHHHHED". After the movie ended I got a kiss and a "Thank YOU" This was one of my better mistakes (or so she told me) As for the 8 year old daughter; she said "I knew mom would like it." What can I say? She was right. I enjoyed it too.

Despite what critics and most reviewers said, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was a fun rollercoaster/summer blockbuster-feel/action-filled flick that told a good story and contained some pretty intense action sequences. I liked the acting/actors and didn't have problems following the plot like some people seemed to complain about. As long as you don't try to compare this to The Matrix and hold the directors to some unattainable, god-like status, you can really enjoy this film on its own merit.

Was cool to see in 3-D. There were a couple of scenes where the action kept going on for a long time and was really exciting.

This movie lacks cohesion, focus and is downright stupid. The acting is vapid and the characters are completely divorced from any reality, including their own alternatives. They are simply unbelievable. With that in mind however, I enjoyed this movie immensely. It is a perfect example of the use of 3D at its best. The movie is filled with CG scenes that are a blast in 3D. Thumbs up on this inane, ludicrous romp on the wildest action ride of the blue-ray season.

I tend to round up for movies like this, with an interesting story, some fun characters and a decent production - I like almost anything with Sean Bean, and Terry Gilliam even has a small cameo (was that . . . ?). I would have liked a bit more time to build the back story but maybe they weren't comfortable it would be strong enough to roll into a sequel or 2 with all the competition in this crowded 'teen savior' sci-fi genre. My kids and I liked it.

An entirely different reality of an alternative universe with its own ecosystem, species and history is created. There are soldiers spliced with animal DNAs such as Caine who has some wolf in him and Stinger, who has some bee in him. There was potential to explore and mine all that richness for more stories but this is undermined by the weak delivery of the first film in what the studios were probably hoping would be a new franchise.

I saw this movie during it's theatrical run and thought it was good...but not great. A co-worker of mine asked if it was any good, and i told him that I thought it was at least worth seeing. I have to honestly say that I enjoyed the movie more upon second viewing, because the 3D blu-ray is simply stunning. The eye-popping visuals are even more so in 3D, and i found myself just enjoying the film that much more. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack ( core 7.1 ) is extremely aggressive and is reference quality through and through. If you're looking for a good demo disc to show off your home theatre, you won't go wrong choosing this one. Is this a great movie??........No. It DOES have some solid entertainment value, though. If you saw it in the theatre and enjoyed it..then pick up this blu-ray without hesitation. Anyone else may want to consider a rental before dropping 30 bucks on the disc.

I never saw this in theaters, but the 3D and VFX on this Blu-ray managed to wow me quite a bit. The movie itself could have been better, but I'd see it again. In fact, it might take multiple viewings just to understand some of the political aspects of the intergalactic story. I've yet to check out the special features, but I hear they aren't that impressive. But at least the technical aspects of this Blu-ray are top notch!

I knew the critics trashed this film, but I love to watch movies in 3D, and I suspected that the visual effects in this film would be top notch. They were! Not only that, but the story and acting were fine. Full disclosure, I watched with my wife, my cousin & his wife. My cousin and I liked it a lot. The ladies....not so much. So if you like sci-fi, 3D, and/or Mila Kunis, my cousin and I would say this film is a winner.

This movie was widely panned when it came out but i have enjoyed it on repeat viewings. Technically it is a beautiful film with elaborate sets and special effects. Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum are fine in the lead roles and Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne provide good support. The HDR version is highly detailed but it is a bit dark so be aware of that, especially if you have an OLED set.

Thought this one was at least as entertaining as Guardians of the Galaxy last year. It's not as groundbreaking as The Matrix, but it's not the overlong, gruelling affair that Cloud Atlas was if you need comparisons to the directors' other works. Nothing too deep, but it's not as corny as the previews made it look. Check it out, also has a cool nod to a favorite video game, Dark Souls 2 - think Heide's Tower of Flame.

Great CGI and visual effects. Actually, too much eye-candy to absorb with just watching this movie one time. Plot of the movie has already been done a hundred times, so you always know that the good guys will come out ahead. But, still an overall good movie. Running time 208 minutes. 16:9 format (not enhanced wide screen). And the movie did appear a little dark - will need to turn the TV brightness up next time.
